    Like many I just bought one of these at £350 and it might really be the best budget PCVR option for anyone getting into VR and isn't locked into Meta. Even with the adapter cost pushing it to £400 I think it's great. I also didn't realise how much I miss OLED after using a Reverb G2 for a long time. Smearing, or image persistence is expected on OLED panels. The best way to reduce it is actually to decrease the brightness. It will have bigger impact on smearing than refresh rate.

    • @Petrakeas
      @Petrakeas 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Black smearing will be there regardless of brightness. This is because I takes more time for a black pixel to turn on in an oled display. But I personally don't mind it.

    • @NintenZoid84
      @NintenZoid84 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      decreasing the PSVR2's VR brightness slider dial down to 0 gives you a 2ms motion persistence at only 60 nits. :P
      Quest 3 has zero motion blur(1ms motion persistence or possibly less) at 85 nits. the 25 bump in nits actually makes quite the difference, and because there's no motion blur the motion clarity is like a frikkin CRT. ;)
      PSVR2's HDR is a total double edged sword. You can't get good motion clarity with high HDR brightness. SDR is the way to fly for now. It's frustrating. Quest 3 has that 'looking through a window' pancake clarity, WIDE sweet spot, no god rays, no motion blur, minimal glare & Higher SDR brightness, but PSVR2 has the deeper blacks(by a land slide), richer vibrant colours and I'm guessing zero image compression when connected to PC due to the display port?

    • @NintenZoid84
      @NintenZoid84 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Neosin1 The Q3's LCD is using some form of black frame insertion, plus a brighter LCD(I think) which trades gobs of Brightness in SDR for amazing CRT-like BFI that gets it down to less than a 1ms motion persistence, which means zero motion blur.
      Sony's PSVR2 OLED can reach as low as 2ms once the VR brightness slider is lowered to zero. Motion clarity looks really good(Not as good as Q3's mind you, but close), but then you're stuck with only 65nits brightness. Q3 has 85 nits with 'zero' motion blur. PSVR2 has great blacks & colours, but Q3 has a sharper/clearer image(Thanks to pancake lenses), a wide sweet spot, no motion blur @85 nits in SDR, no god rays, no mura, less glare and slightly higher resolution.
      But ya, 120hz/fps on an OLED TV removes 50% of OLED motion blur, and 240hz monitors remove 75%. Quest 3 has less motion blur than even 240hz OLED monitors. :P It's basically a CRT. I've got both head sets btw.
      Q3 rectifies it's tablet power when hooked up to a beefy PC, but i still hate it's black levels and colours! :P Maybe if if only it had a QD-LCD display with local dimming. Micro-OLED however is too expensive for consumer budget VR headsets at this point unfortunately.

    Big respect for making this video.
    I would use room scale even if youre sat down, so that you dont get the boundary showing up when u stretch out.
    Like you said, mura is only a distraction if you choose to focus on it. If you focus on the game world instead of the pixels, u really dont see it, and the colours and contrast is definitely worth the trade off imo

The same people complaining about not wanting it because its meta because data security are the same people that downloaded TikTok,Just because it sold 7mil don't mean it's has 7mil users lol. • @Jonny._.
      @Jonny._. 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@betonman9 The mura doesn't bother me when im concentrating on the actual gameplay. The black levels you get in the Resident Evil games on PS5 for example makes them a lot more scary and claustrophobic than a LCD panel is capable of(unless it was vs a LCD VR headset capable of great local dimming, but those are really expansive ).
      I still have the Oculus CV1 which is also oled. Its still a god headset for workout games but it got quite a lot of godrays in very dark scenes. If its godrays vs mura i would pick mura over godrays in dark scenes any day.
      Im not saying you are wrong though as some get annoyed by some of the PSVR2 flaws while some can look past it. Very few VR headsets are flawless though IMO.
      I also enjoy GT7 even on its brightest settings in PSVR2 if im concentrating on the gameplay instead of looking for problems/annoyances.
      i always felt that the contrast and brightness was a bit too low in my HP Reverb for sim racing so im looking forwards using the PSVR2 in sim racing games and games like Half Life Alyx that will be improved IMO with increased black levels.
      I have no plans to get a Quest 3 yet, but im sure i would enjoy that headset too for different reasons and different type of games. It`s good to hear its possible to boost some good colors in the Q3 headset.

    A few steps he left out during setup. First you must click your heels 3 times, then contact NASA for a launch code, reverse the worm hole effect by a coefficient of + or - no more or no less than 18% of the leading edge refraction rate. Simply retract the included digital antenna/Giger counter to a contiguous fratistat to 90% from dead center. After that it's pretty smooth sailing provided you have already used a, sold separately, spatial gravitas motion deregulator for unseen fluorescent interference. There you have it. So you can now enjoy the upwards of 6 games that "Kinda" support this Headset a little. Cheers!

      I mean, using eye tracking, many devs say ps5 out performs high end pc rigs, eg with no man's sky. Its best on ps5.
      Not to mention the added function of head haptics.
      Having said that, I'm looking forward to seeing how many games utilise a ps5 Pro patch to further boost performance.

    • @julianmazzola

      @@shenmeowzo Eye-tracking and DFR are great and I'm glad Sony worked on it, but it only nets around 30-40% gains in real world scenario. Which is still great! But apples-to-apples, going from a PS5 to a 4090 is more like a 200-300% increase in raw rasterization power. And that's not really a fair comparison because a 4090 is a $2500 GPU, but the point is, how we define "PC" is a very broad benchmark depending on one's budget

    • @sawdust8691
      @sawdust8691 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The PS5 drives it just fine. That foveated eye tracked rendering really helps it.
      So other than the big AAA games that can't reach a native 90 on the PS5, no matter the tricks and optimization, it's very comparable to higher end PC VR.
      Though I am very excited about this adapter. I got one ordered.
      I happen to have built my first PC recently, and now that I'll be able to use my headset on PC, too, I'll get a lot more use out of it.
      I assume Sony made this adapter to help sell off more of their VR stock since they didn't sell well. And I'm all for it. Now , I can use it on both platforms. I think it's gonna be primarily a PC headset for me now, way larger library and options

    • @julianmazzola
      @julianmazzola 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sawdust8691 I mean this in a good way, the experience on PC (with a 4090, specifically) is going to be leaps and bounds better than what the console can do. And again, like my previous comment, there's nothing wrong with that and it should be expected that a $2,500 GPU is going to significantly outperform a $399 console. The PS5 is an excellent value proposition and I love mine. But I am also extremely excited to see what the headset can do with a 4090, regardless of DFR. Specifically -- a PS5 is roughly on par with a RTX 2070 or 3060 in terms of real-world performance, factoring in console optimization. DFR offers gains of around 30-40%. A 4090 outperforms a 2070 by 250% - 320%.

    Sebastian, hello :) I don’t seem to be a person driven by advertising, but in this case, you “infected” me (in the good sense of the word) with the desire to become the owner of this adapter. Moreover, knowing your correct, unvarnished attitude towards Psvr2, your emotions and impressions fuel interest and give rise to a smile :) Moreover, I have Quest 3 and Psvr 2. As I understand it, Steam automatically set such a high resolution to 150%?
    Have you disabled dynamic resolution in HL Alyx? You can set the settings in the shortcut there and the picture will be more constant.

I am interested in the following: the Psvr 2 adapter connects to the PC via Display port, and then we connect the Psvr 2 headset to the USB type c port on the adapter itself. And the question arises, is there a difference? Maybe the adapter gives a better image or there is no difference at all?

  • @Sinuev1
    @Sinuev1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yeah, I can't say I'm interested. Even before the PSVR2 launched, I was advocating for it coming to PC - as I had really intended to buy a PS5 at some point and wanted the device to pull double-duty rather than having to buy multiple headsets for multiple platforms. But... there's just no games for the PS5, so it kills half the value proposition for me, and I already have a comparable experience on my Reverb G2. Then there's the other downsides like the mura, which really bothers me - thanks in part to a lot of time spent in the PSVR1 - and not having an onboard audio solution. Ideally off-ear speakers like the Reverb and Index have.
    So, since it looks like I'm never getting a PS5 due to it being a complete game desert - I think I'll see how much longer my Reverb holds out and then buy a Pimax Crystal Light. Which is a stupid name, by the way. Might as well have called it the Pimax Tang.
