I don't think I see any compression on my Quest 3 since I started to use cable and set the bitrate to 650. Before I did that the compression was horrible!

Must be talking about the lenses. The Quest 3 has clearer lenses and no mura. Honestly I prefer the OLED screen after trying out different headsets. It has some negatives but I like it more than the LCD screen even with better lenses. The display is just so much better to me, and LCD looks flat and dull in comparison. Just a preference thing though, because there are OLED downsides in VR. The Quest would be more clear though, simply because of the lenses. It does have compression though, which I also don't like.
@@michela8924 overall I think the quest 3 is a better PCVR headset. The oled displays might be better in the psvr2, but the pancake lenses, software, ongoing support, Virtual Desktop, controllers and much more features are better (supported) with the quest 3.
@@fizzisoda7113 The compression isn't bad anymore on the Q3 compared to Q2 or Q1. That's been fixed because the Q3 allows for much higher bitrates especially when wireless PCVR headset compared to Q2 and Q1. Q1 max was 150 wired. Q2 wireless was capped at 200 bitrate wireless. Q3 on Virtual Desktop you can do 500 bitrate for H.264 and 200 bitrate for Av1. This make a big difference as it basically cuts out almost all the compression artifacts. Most people would choose to play wireless over wired anyway at this point. And for wired play you can set it to 960 bitrate. I think Q2 u can also set it to 960 bitrate. At this bitrate I can't tell at all if theres any compression. DP is not gonna be that much better.

After having it here and since i have made my own experiences, i have got to say that this review is overall the most informative since (from my own experience) it is a very objective conclusion. It doesn't hype the hmd, it does not make it look worse, than it is. God job and thank you!
I also purchased a PC adapter yesterday, and there were no problems pairing the controller with the PC. I played trial games and VR Player: Bigscreen and skybox also ran normally. I think Sony has finally made the right decision. This adapter has indeed increased the practicality of VR2. It is expected that the sales of VR2 will steadily increase, which I believe is the expectation of all VR2 users.
I think the headset will become more then interesting when the eye tracking will be activated, but still a very solid alternative for who want an OLED, light and wired native headset
Thanks for your honest feedback. I'm one of the PCVR users who has a Quest 3 and was wondering if I missed out on the recent sale. I honestly love my Quest 3 with virtual desktop. I'm only running a system with a RTX 3080 and a 5700X3D, so far from high end, and it works great. I think the PSVR is more of a side grade than an upgrade for Quest 3 users.

Excellent video. Im excited becuase i held off buying a q3 and sticking with my q2 because i had faith sony wouldn't drop the ball on a fresh step into an already very interesting market. I notice you didnt use the motion controllers for DCS and some others. Do they just not work in PSVR2? The issue im having is my hands show up when the game starts but then go away. I cant do anything without using the Keyboard+Mouse OR Bringing up SteamVR menu and selecting my display>interact with menus> go back

I have both ps5 and 3090 pc. Just ordered ps vr2 for 350 usd including a good vr game.. I think value proposition is simply unbeatable at this point...
Sony will never do that. They are so married to the Play Station and that is all they are worried about. I will stick with my Quest 3 for PC gaming for right now and works adequate enough for me with all the STEAM games I have. The PSVR headset is more designed/optimized for the Play Station, Sony is kind of wanting to get part of the PC market share of VR users. If the PSVR headset works for any of you, good luck with it. I guess it depends on the PC. I don't have the adapter yet, but I downloaded the app to make sure the controllers connect. They seem to connect fine without a dongle. Must be whatever specific Bluetooth device that might not play nice. Weird
Why did your built in Bluetooth not work? Did you have Intel, or Realtek or what? 4.xx , 5.xx , etc. I would expect something like an Intel AX210 or even 200 to work with the controllers.
This is crazy. Sony must not be making its projected numbers for the PSVR2 with the PS5, so in efforts to try to regain what it has invested in the PSVR2, I imagine that this is why they opted to partner up with STEAM to be able to utilize the PSVR2 that was originally designed for the PS5 now be able to be used on PC’s with STEAM. I believe that from a corporate point of view, this might of been their only chess move to try to regain some of their investment… but see, this is where I feel that Sony dropped the ball- and its sad because they actually have the technology already… if anyone here remembers, the PS3 Sharpshooter; bring that back, incorporate the Sharpshooter with FPS games in VR such as Call Of Duty, Battlefield, even the upcoming GTA6; this now in my opinion can give players the choice to be in a more submersible 3D VR environment. Why this was never done by Sony and game developers is beyond me. Well this my opinion. I hope you all can see where im going with the FPS and the Sharpshooter/PSVR combo in 3D VR idea for the PS5.
Software in general has taken a backseat unfortunately when it comes to VR. Can't sell great hardware without it. That and everyone is obsessed with exclusives.
Just as a note, because you have that port, you don't need the adapter! Sony is selling this because the VirtualLink port got killed off and the PS VR2 connects only via USB-C.
See, I don't have any tracking issues but what I do have is that while inside the headset, whenever I have SteamVR or any game open, everything has the worst green tint to it and I don't know how to fix it. I've looked and tried everything but same issue. It isn't like this when connected to my PS5 and I'm desperate for help. It seems like no one else is having said issue. :(
Can somebody help me? I start DCS Standalone trough the SteamVR client. But when i start it up my VR Screen turns grey. However on my normal screen i can see the Homescreen of DCS VR normal.
@@laubox Yeah thanks i fixed that. But now when i join into the cockpit my latency is so low i can the screen get updates when i turn my head fast so i see black. It just doesn't update the screen fast enough for a smooth gameplay.

I don’t care about anything I just wanna see my instruments and have bo latency. Apparently psvr wins the no latency part and meta quest 3 wins the clarity on instrument part. I have a lose lose situation and it sucks. I cannot have the two things I wish 😂. I have a quest 3. Picking up a psvr for dcs if i can see the instruments like i can with my quest 3 I’m returning it.
@@laubox DP 1.2? Why? Sony themselves said 1.4 is a requirement, and it makes sense considering the resolution and hdr amongst other things. I have a feeling you are bottlenecking the quality with that cable and the quality would be better with 1.4
@@Zir0_135 It seems the tracking problems are solved by getting an extender cable to move your Bluetooth dongle farther away from your PC. There is some interference for some people until you do this. If you are using in-built Bluetooth, you might need a dongle like that to solve it.
I love OLED displays, I have 5 OLED TVs, but I can't understand why someone prefeers psvr2 over the quest 3. For me it's all about those pancake lenses. Going back to tvs, I love OLEDs, but if I had to chose between looking at an LCD through a clear glass and looking at an OLED through a ringed glass that makes everything periferal look like crap I'd take the LCD any day.

I disagree that Oculus Quest 3 is many times better than PS VR2. Its big advantage is the lack of cables, but that's where it ends... Better a better picture than wireless...
That's were it ends???? Psvr2 jas old gen fresnell lenses while Quest 3 has pancake lenses..There is a gigantic difference in quality ....And lenses are one the the most important part of an headset..even more important than the screen itself
You put the headset on and gamed straight away in your review lol no way you got the lenses in the sweet spot that quickly. Unfortunately, you do need to spend 5 seconds or so adjusting things so that you get full clarity... But yeah, if you already have a q3, this is a side grade, not a huge grade. Q3 has poor depth and binocular overlap and terrible colours and blacks. These are so important to actually get 'depth' and immersion, you didnt even talk about this stuff. Your taking the sharpness of the q3 and ignoring all of this. Wireless is terrible to get working and when it does work its compressed like hell... q3 is solid but has big issues as well. Pimax might be the best all rounder but the price is nasty
I have both, and i dont agree! the colors are so much better on the Psvr2 and it feels smoother.

People love to leave out the Quest 3's video compression. It looks awful on some games and ruins the experience.

You're having issues with tracking because of the TP-Link adapter, get a Asus BT500, no issues.

Waiting on my adapter to arrive. In the mean time I woke up the old 2080ti and plugged the PSVR2 directly into the 2080ti and it works perfectly.
yes because you have typec port on the gpu. 40xx series do not longer have this :(

i've been having trouble using and setting up the psvr2 controllers in dsc, is it possible to play using them?
I'm having problems with having a proper connection with my sense controllers despite me having the recomended dongel(the TP-link ub500)
