The reason Sony didnt pack a bluetooth reciever into the adapter is because a Bluetooth receiver with a high enough bandwidth to power the sense controllers wouldve essentially had to replace your pci bluetooth stack - as the Tplink dongle does. A unifying reciever (used for things like your mouse) wouldnt have cut it. I feel this being forced on users would have actually been worse than giving users options - as inconvenient as it may be.
Isn't the "unifying receiver" a proprietary Logitech standard? Also later WMR headsets solved this issue completely by putting a bluetooth receiver in the headset, then forwarding the controller data over USB. IIRC, the controllers even came paired with the headset out of the box and all you had to do was turn them on. You do still need special headset specific software to re-pair them though, which isn't great.
Good review, would have mentioned FOV and that psvr2 also has great AAA exclusives such as gt7, res 4, res 8, synapse, call of mountain that can be played with a ps5. That psvr2 ports of quests games usually far superior with adaptive triggers, head haptics and superior graphics.
This is definitely a good thing to consider. If you *also* have a PS5, then PS VR2 is a must-buy imo, especially for that $350 discounted price. You get the best versions of the best high-end games on both PC and PS5, so up to $500 for one headset on both PC and PS5, instead of having to pay $500 for a PS5 headset *PLUS* another $500 for a PCVR headset. If you only game on PC and have no intention of ever getting a PS5, then a PS VR2 even at $350 might be a harder ask vs a Quest 3 for $500 + $50 for elite strap. Only worth it for PC only if you value realistic colours over edge-to-edge clarity imo.
@@Zeforasthen why mention the standalone library of quest and how Sony hasn't really pushed vr game wise even though it has more exclusives in the last year and a half than quest 3 currently has. If just reviewing it as a vr headset for pc don't mention either.

If you already own this headset for your ps5 and it’s your first time using PC VR, it can be a bit of a hassle to set up. I have occasional issues with connectivity but it seems to be with the steam app not the PlayStation VR app or the Bluetooth

I just got a psvr2 for 400 bucks and I'm pretty much blown away by the quality for the price. With the pc adapter and the goated haptic feedback controllers I think it's the best "budget" VR system atm.
Very strange that adapter does not provide Bluetooth module and it should be all in one solution for every connection for wired and wireless. Really hope in future there will be a revised version that includes it. Also hope in future too, Sony will eventually update the software to enable all those exclusive headset features (adapt triggers, HDR, etc.) and many games will start to support them.
Just purchased the PSVR2 and PC connector today! Not set it up yet but I’m really looking forwards to getting up and running with it! Thanks for the heads up on Bluetooth! Any other game recommendations?
Not included the required cable is why my adapter sits unused. HDMI is the standard, I have tons of those lying around. Absolutely zero DP cables, and no where nearby sells them. And bluetooth should have been built into the adapter, not relying on us to find the odd one that works.
The latest HDMI protocol can only push 144hz at 1440p and 60hz at 4k on a single display. HDMI is not capable of supporting multiple displays, only mirroring. By contrast, DisplayPort can push 144hz on two 4k displays. HDMI is not capable of running any modern or semi-modern VR platform: it does not support the bandwidth or capabilities of any of the displays found in HMDs.
i love the fact that i can now play ps5 steam and meta games with my psvr2 now as the ps5 support was lacking and i was starting feel a bit down about it really . i have had no issues with my desktops bluetooth and tracking so far.

I have one RTX2080Ti here, but found some saying it won't work via the VirtualLink. I hope it does, but didn't see anyone testing it yet. EDIT: Just after, I found Tyriel Wood posted some days ago showing it works on said GPU. Guess it's alright to buy the PSVR2 now and change back to the 2080. 🥰 2:45 This guy never installed Windows 98 huh?
Honestly while the color and black levels might be nicer on the PSVR 2, id rather have the clarity and sharpness of the Quest 3's display (the PSVR2 also seems to have a lot of chromatic aberration) That and like you said, the quest 3 has loads of functionality outside of being used for PCVR
Just wanna mention that not all 2000 series RTX GPUs had virtual link connectors as a lot of third party manufacturers removed them. I bought a 2070 specifically with a VirtualLink last year so I had to be careful what I bought online. (I use the port for my XReal Air AR glasses.)
i wanted to get a psvr2 for the exclusives there but also wanted to play custom beatsaber and half-life alyx so i'm really glad there's a decent solution to make it do both 🔥🔥
I am planning on getting a psvr2 to play some ps5 psvr2 games but if I happen to have a working pc in the future I might get an adapter to play pcver games, hopefully I don't regret buying it!
not sure if this was something I did wrong but whenever I played a game on the psvr2 on pc it would break the controller settings and when I went back to my index the controllers no longer worked other than that and the Bluetooth issues its a solid choice
I have a few questions regarding this adapter that I can’t seem to find answers on. 1. Can a DisplayPort to HDMI cable work if say a laptop doesn’t have a DisplayPort? 2. If a laptop were to have a USB-C display port, can I just plug the PSVR2 into that? The laptop I’m using for reference is an ASUS TUF Gaming Laptop A16.
I was really hoping that Sony would make a VR headset that works on PS5 and PC. But they didn’t. So they released this box as a solution. It’s gonna really help out with sales. This feels unfair. PSVR 2 users have one of the best headsets on the market right now and have access to a decently sized and fantastic selection of exclusive PS5 games and all the benefits of PC VR. Not just the exclusive games, but the modding aspect, too!
Unlike some people who overhyped and the other idiots who underhyped this headset. Your review is PERFECT....if you have a good enough PC this headset especially on sale is a no brainer...
I don't have a wifi card in my computer, and I had a TP-Link UB500 USB adapter jammed into a USB extension on my desk already, got it for my DualSense, XBox, and WMR controllers. The controllers paired fine after I discovered they were dead as a doornail out of the box, and have worked flawlessly with the UB500. If you don't have Bluetooth, or need something better than what you have, the UB500 is excellent. I'm also theorizing that the old, unfortunately discontinued DualShock 4 controller adapter could possibly work with better connection latency and quality, though until I get one in hand I can't confirm or deny this idea. They're scalped pretty heavily online but I did find and order one for $40, so assuming I remember this comment by then I'll share my results in a reply.
You don't need a Bluetooth dongle mate. Just connect a Wi-Fi antenna to the Bluetooth bnc connector in the back of your motherboard. You can get Bluetooth signal up to 30ft away unobstructed.
Insane, did not know it would work with my 2080 without the adaptor, so far it’s alright, started out kinda choppy during the setup, but Steam VR Home was alright? So let’s see
I keep my bluetooth device plugged into the front panel USB at all times, so unless it's outdated (actually very likely. it's 4.0) then it should work fine.
It's pretty dope tbh, HL-A looked so amazing, it's a much better experience than I had on my Quest 2, I haven't used my Quest 3 for PCVR I have never liked the experience with PCVR and Quest. The Image even with my above average gaming PC was always grainy or washed out in bright areas and the input latency kinda sucked.
The Quest 3 is better in most ways but one.. PSVR 2 does not go flat in only a couple of hours 😁 I am a Quest 2 user at the moment and it's the only thing that continues to annoy me. Even the Quest 3 still has the battery life issue. Power Banks only help so much.
I cant wait to try Cyberpunk in VR on the PSVR2 PC adapter. How to VR movies work on the PSVR2 adapter? How can you watch VR concerts and 360 GoPro clips I've captured? Thanks
I was "forced" to use my PSVR2 headset with PC because someone stole my main pair of glasses out of my car . . . My backup pair does not fit inside my Index, at all, and the main pair did. I didn't play VR for like a year, other than GT7 on PS5 and Horizon VR until I finished it. I even forgot why I stopped playing PCVR. Then sony released the adapter. I'm really pleased with the experience. It's nearly flawless for what the basic feature set does. Inside out tracking is a little less accurate than the base stations, but it doesn't interrupt play enough to notice (often) and having the room bright helps. I'm most disappointed the didn't support foveated rendering and, to a lesser degree, HDR. My PC struggles to push the pixels needed for the PSVR2 over the Index just enough that I've had to rely on reprojection or lowered refresh rates (90 instead of 120 Hz) in a couple games. I was blown away at how well it helps the PS5 do VR (even with reprojection). I had hoped it would allow people to push their PCs even farther. The OLED screen is a huge visual upgrade, though. The downside is that its noticeably smudgy in motion, but not so much that it brings you out of the game once things are moving. But dark scenes are actually dark, which is really nice.
It's nice to have an option for a PCVR helmet. I like my quest 2, but I never play it standalone because my headset is always in my room next to a PC. Wireless stream never worked for me and always had issues (but I have update issues as well simply because my country isn't in the supported list, so I have to do the updates manually), and wires would get some lag/compression time to time for next to no reason. Now I wonder if I should ditch the quest 2 and try out PSVR 2 with a PC adapter...
Did you really need the extension cable for bluetooth? Mine is like tucked away behind my PC, about 2-3 meters from my play space (BT 5.1 - Asus B550-e gaming wifi) and works without a sweat! Well not true, I'm still sweating in VR...
I was tempted to get the psvr2 at that price but figured that since some features were disabled I wouldn't bother. Semi regret it because it was a good price for the unit.
Why do you not mention the Pico 4? It outperformed the Quest 2 and 3 in many areas, the only places the Quest would beat it was the hand tracking and passthrough cameras, and if those arent something the user cares for I would always recommend the pico 4 over the quest 3 for PC VR. And with the Pico 4 Ultra now with new controllers, sensors, new dual high resolution passthrough cameras and new depth sensors AR stuff is vastly improved. Also new controller tracking and the one thing that Pico now has that trumps others is the body tracking with the pico trackers which also work for pc vr.
I suspect the Bluetooth issues are mostly caused by people not realising they must have the Wifi antenna connected to their PC for Bluetooth to work properly. Range shouldn't be an issue then.
Yup most of my friend's didn't know that the antenna that came with the motherboard wasn't only for WiFi.
Yep it helped me out once I connected the antennas
I tried to use some really cheap earbuds on my pc and the kept disconnecting I plugged in the antenna and it fixes it completely
Also if you get a prebuilt I just remembered they don’t give you all of your MB ACCESSORIES 😂
💯 I learned this fact just before using the PC adapter
Anything that supports steamVR, inside out tracking and Display port, I dig it.
the display port is suck an upgrade in my opinion, i hate the meta quest usb c compression and latency
If someone could stick some pancake lenses on this then it would be the craziest bang for buck ever

This sounds like horseshit
Great Video! Some days ago i bought the psvr 2 and i wanted to use it on my PC! Good Review!
Only worth it for PC only if you value realistic colours over edge-to-edge clarity imo.
i mean... the review is about psvr on computer, not psvr on ps. No point in talking about those game since they can't be played on PC.
@@Zeforasthen why mention the standalone library of quest and how Sony hasn't really pushed vr game wise even though it has more exclusives in the last year and a half than quest 3 currently has. If just reviewing it as a vr headset for pc don't mention either.
@@iwantalot Oh, my apology, i didn't catch that in the reviews for some reason. I guess the heat is making me go full brainrot, kek.
@@iwantalotyou need a ps5 for those games. you get quest games when you get a quest. thats why.
The quest 3 512 GB is $680 cad but the PSVR2 is $480 cad . Two things that are putting me off pulling the trigger is the lenses and the apparent mura. How is it?
Sweet looking forward to getting the pc adapter!
If you already own this headset for your ps5 and it’s your first time using PC VR, it can be a bit of a hassle to set up. I have occasional issues with connectivity but it seems to be with the steam app not the PlayStation VR app or the Bluetooth
You ARE alive! ❤
Haha yes! I’m not going anywhere. I’m just working more on my own VR projects []-)
@@VirtualRealityOasis love that! Excited to see what you got cooking.
5:47 If you want it to be the best shooter in VR out there, have full body character or atleast arms, alot of people don't like floating hands like me it ruins the immersion in me being someone else in VR
Already have the PS5 and PSVR2 , already considered building a new PC after being absent from the PC world for years now. In terms of VR gaming on PC I guess Im already half way there.
I just got a psvr2 for 400 bucks and I'm pretty much blown away by the quality for the price. With the pc adapter and the goated haptic feedback controllers I think it's the best "budget" VR system atm.
Always make sure you have up to date bluetooth chip on your motherboard and a high gain antenna.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Just purchased the PSVR2 and PC connector today! Not set it up yet but I’m really looking forwards to getting up and running with it! Thanks for the heads up on Bluetooth! Any other game recommendations?
is it smoother than quest??
Been waiting for this video
Great video my guy , good to know PSVR 2 is a viable option should I choose to get the adapter but the Quest Pro will remain my PC headset
Wish they'd have left the USBc port on the back of graphics cards moving forward. It has always come in handy on my 2080 PC.
glad to see you've uploaded
Thank you mate! I’m not going anywhere. Uploads just might be slower than before as I’m working on my own VR projects. I’ll always cover important / interesting stuff though []-)
PSVR2 and PC Adapter works brilliantly with my NUC 12 Enthusiast. No bluetooth issues and performance is brilliant on Audica and Half-Life Alyx.
You can bypass the adapter too if you use Thunderbolt 4 or 5. Just need a USB-C port that can pass video and do 90watts.
Just ordered my headset/controllers on black friday sale.. Now patiently waiting for the adapter to restock, hope it won't be too long
glad someone has one i haven't been able to buy one anywhere all out of stock
i think its super cool that sony just turned this feature that has always worked on and then sold it for 60 bucks
I have no trouble finding sweerspot, just have edge to edge clarity, on my psvr2.
The thing sold out right away. Hope it comes back in stock soon.
Awesome video Mike!! Always great to see you out here 😀. I see you are wearing the globular cluster, i have heard it eliminates the sweet spot problem. Also the reddit user pics looked to shaky to me. Is that really how it looked to you?? Like some of the images seem to ghosted to me
Globular cluster was a game changer for me for PSVR 2. I thought the images were a good representation of what it looks like. Side by side obviously PSVR 2 looks worse but of course you don’t notice it in VR []-)
It looks great but games that don't show a arm with the hands are not for me.
Then go play gorilla tag with a body bahahaha. If full body tracking isn't the norm a body or arms are so bad in vr at the moment. Overhyped
@@michelverheijen6643what you mean bad and overhyped? check out contracters showdown and last time i checked seeing arms with hands in vr isnt exactly full body tracking.
seriously?? half life alyx is probably the best vr game ever made.
Awesome Video i just bought one for Christmas cause They are on sale rn i cant wait to Play 😌
I would love a comparison between a good old headset like the HP Reverb G2 for example - just to find out if I want to upgrade at all .
2:45 This guy never installed Windows 98 huh?
tempting to just have a second rig in a mini case with a 2080...
Honestly while the color and black levels might be nicer on the PSVR 2, id rather have the clarity and sharpness of the Quest 3's display (the PSVR2 also seems to have a lot of chromatic aberration)
That and like you said, the quest 3 has loads of functionality outside of being used for PCVR
Should have tried steam Subnautica on psvr2. Would love know how well runs and if it’s good.
Good review. Been on the fence about getting this adaptor. Think I will get it at some point.
This sounds like it could be my problem.... headset will not powerup.
Trying to figure it out with little to no clue. LOL
yeah my MSI RTX 2070 doesn’t have a VirtualLink
Awesome review!! I agree with your opinion
Thankfully have had no issue connecting the controllers to my PC, and I'm lucky I have a 2080Ti to avoid having to connect the PSVR2 to the adapter.
ALL I can see is that Astrobot figure... WHERE DID YOU GET IT MIKE?!
I remember importing it from Japan. I love that little guy. Shame the new one isn’t getting VR support []-/
i wanted to get a psvr2 for the exclusives there but also wanted to play custom beatsaber and half-life alyx so i'm really glad there's a decent solution to make it do both 🔥🔥
this helped tremendously thank you
Is it easy to use the index knuckles with this headset too? Wondering if it has good mix and match compatibility.
I've been looking to upgrade from my quest2 for a while now and now I know what I'm getting on payday
Got them both but I definitely prefer the PSVR2. The colours!!!!
I am planning on getting a psvr2 to play some ps5 psvr2 games but if I happen to have a working pc in the future I might get an adapter to play pcver games, hopefully I don't regret buying it!
How would you say you feel about now if you ended up getting it?
not sure if this was something I did wrong but whenever I played a game on the psvr2 on pc it would break the controller settings and when I went back to my index the controllers no longer worked other than that and the Bluetooth issues its a solid choice
I dont have a pc but I do have a ps5 and I plan on procuring a vr2 later, when I get a pc it will be what I use for vr on there. So good to know.
DAMN! THought the gunman contracts game was FURTHER!!
My PC's motherboard already includes Bluetooth and the antenna is integrated with the Wi-Fi antenna so it works great with my PSVR2 Sense Controllers.
Here I am having left a reply before seeing the exact solution I already had described further in the video, including the same BT stubby.
You don't need a Bluetooth dongle mate. Just connect a Wi-Fi antenna to the Bluetooth bnc connector in the back of your motherboard.
You can get Bluetooth signal up to 30ft away unobstructed.
You don't mention passthrough, does it work the same way as it does on PS5?
Yup, you just hit the button on the HMD.
Do you know what the D stands for in LCD and OLED? :)

"I love playing games on my OLE Display"
"Your what?"
"My OLE Display. Is so much better than my LC Display"
Insane, did not know it would work with my 2080 without the adaptor, so far it’s alright, started out kinda choppy during the setup, but Steam VR Home was alright? So let’s see
I keep my bluetooth device plugged into the front panel USB at all times, so unless it's outdated (actually very likely. it's 4.0) then it should work fine.
i wish i had a psvr2 so i could use it with steamvr
It's pretty dope tbh, HL-A looked so amazing, it's a much better experience than I had on my Quest 2, I haven't used my Quest 3 for PCVR I have never liked the experience with PCVR and Quest. The Image even with my above average gaming PC was always grainy or washed out in bright areas and the input latency kinda sucked.
Its pretty cheap now even the ps5 itself
I actually can't wait till PSVR2 goes on sale again. Had i known about the PC Adapter i would've bought it on sale last month.
FYI not all AMD 7000 AIB Models have a typc C like the Powercolor Hellhound 7800xt does not have a native type C
I was trying buy adapter for PSVR 2 It dont have buy option here in The US Let me no what wrong
Man the headset was on sale and i didn't know if it was worth it. Not even 15 minutes and it sold out. Really wanted to try out PCVR stuff
Thanks for the tip, see you next Month Bro 😅😅😅
The Quest 3 is better in most ways but one.. PSVR 2 does not go flat in only a couple of hours 😁 I am a Quest 2 user at the moment and it's the only thing that continues to annoy me. Even the Quest 3 still has the battery life issue. Power Banks only help so much.
OLED or the higher resolution of the Quest 3? It's a tough decision.
...Quest 3 it is for me. This really needed to be available at launch, if it was, I would've bought it day one
Your evaluation is correct t. You can't beat the sharpness of the quest 3 especially rally through virtual desktop.
Is virtual desktop better than steam link?
Did you really need the extension cable for bluetooth? Mine is like tucked away behind my PC, about 2-3 meters from my play space (BT 5.1 - Asus B550-e gaming wifi) and works without a sweat! Well not true, I'm still sweating in VR...
Sold the PS VR2 , small sweet spot with the fresnel lenses make it very blurry. Q3 is the way to go here
I was tempted to get the psvr2 at that price but figured that since some features were disabled I wouldn't bother.
Why doesn't some company make replacement lenses for psvr2?
