I know Waluigi Pinball is amazing and everyone loves it, but I really think one of the Mario Kart 8 retro tracks deserves to be number 1. Ribbon Road is beautiful.
I honestly think Ribbon Road and Cheese Land deserve first and second, respectively. While other retro tracks add a couple new features and improve graphics, those two tracks were COMPLETELY overhauled. I didn't even notice that they were retros for the longest time. Waluigi Pinball is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, MK courses of all time, but its retro variant isn't very exciting. It's just Waluigi Pinball again, this time with slightly better graphics. Kind of unfair that it's regarded as the best retro just for existing.
Of course, I don't get to control NB's opinion. This is just my two cents.
@@wow-thanks Honestly tho. The best part about mariokart 8 is that they put all of their effort in making all of the retro track feel like new standalone tracks. And it worked WONDERS for them.

A note on Wii's Ghost Valley 2: the difficulty level raised significantly if you first played the game on an old square-screened tv where the back lighting was dying. The track becomes practically pitch black all around & the sharp corners and wall-less sections were excessively hard to navigate, that way.

Predicting Mario Kart 8 would like to disagree.
Honestly imo retro tracks are best when they go from console to handheld and vice versa. I definitely agree with you on cheese land and ribbon road, but remastering waluigi pinball on the next handheld really lost that sense of awesome that you would have gotten from seeing it on a big screen
and the lack of effort in the current dlc didnt do a great job either. its still the best of the dlc at the moment, at least they made it harder to avoid the pinballs... in my experience

Am I the try player that loves this track?? THIS was the track I played repeatedly when I wanted to learn how to use bikes. Sat my ass down for a few hours until I got real good at inside drifting and doing wheelies. This is a great track with a few challenging turns. Love it!

Back in 2005, we went on a Mediterranean cruise. It was our last big adventure before having a baby (and we kind of planned it that way). One of the places the cruise was supposed to go was Corsica, but because of a dockworkers' strike we couldn't go there and the ship instead made an unplanned stop at Menorca. That turned out to be one of the most charming places we would visit. The two largest towns on Menorca, Mahon and Ciutadella, are at opposite ends of the island, and they have these old historic downtowns with all these stone buildings.
Anyway, the DS Delfino Square remake on the Wii is my favorite remake level in part because the whole aesthetic just reminds me of that visit to Menorca--the sunny landscape, the sea, the medieval-looking stone buildings. When we were raising a little kid and not able to go on big adventures for a while, that level always brought back these happy memories.

Can I just say? I really appreciate that in GBA for the mario circuits they actually added stuff like trees, peaches castle, stuff like that. I know it’s assets from the new tracks but still. All the other games did was add hills

My favorite Retro track is Waluigis Stadium on the Wii. This track was perfectly designed for Mario Kart Wii and for me there's no better Retro track.
