Thanks for your videos. You’ve turned into my go to guy for all the new info on the portal and headphones! I’d read that we won’t be able to use the original pulse 3d headphones on the new portal. Have you any info on this?
I was going to get the regular pulse but the elite seems like the way to go with the portal. Surprised they can’t be preordered yet.

To be honest, im very interested in the buds as i have the PSVR2 and on my head where the vr headset sits intersects with my gaming headsets sit comfortably on my head so i have to compromise compromise comfort slightly for the added immersion. Also some vr titles are high action and some headsets move around too much from quick head turns and such. The included buds are ok, but I am confident the buds would be an audio fidelity upgrade and increase my audio comfort for a completely seamless and immersive vr experience.
It would be a crying shame if the PlayStation Explore Wireless Ear buds weren't compatible with PSVR2. I can't stand those dangling wired buds hanging from the headset. it just ruins and cheapens the aesthetic. Plus, Explore should sound even better due to the planer magnetics and you'd think, just becase of the $199 US sticker price.
@80sHolic7 i truly believe the new planer magnetic buds will be compatible. As you may already know they will use dongle plugged into playstation to transmitt the new audio format. But if you mean fit in ear with psvr2 on i think it will. I used wireless headsets with psvr2 the 1st gen pulse 3d, the sony inzone h7. The ear cups are too big for where headset sit in my head. So the two are touching or move around to much during high head movement. I want something more secure and comy, and the new planer magnetic buds should do that and provide higher quality audio experience. Im certain for me the buds will work. Technically, as you know, you plug in third party wired ear buds to the psvr2 headset. I dont find the provided buds to be horrendous, but the audio is definitely not rich or high quality. I do like that you can hang them on the headset

Ideally, a 7.1 surround sound system that can detect where you are in VR would be the best case scenario, but that doesn't seem to exist at this point. :P I've tried over head wired cans with VR and it was just awful. Too much plastic bulk on the head, and headphone shifting... it feels like a head oven contraption, super cumbersome and awkward to put on and take off. It's already bad enough that the PSVR2 makes your head and upper body sweat after 30 minutes or so, headphones just make it unbearable. Terrible combo, it just isn't convenient, practical or sleek, at all.
High end low latency wireless planer magnetic buds are the way to go for VR. It's just strange that Sony didn't mention anything about VR2 compatibility, since it would obviously be another decent selling point regardless if VR2 is gravitates towards being niche.
@@NeonPizzas"PSVR2" audio is just ps5 audio. It's not actually coming from the PSVR2. So anything that works on the PS5 will work with PSVR2 because they're the same thing

Audio technology is more expensive then people think I'm not mad at the price of these accessories I just wish for more universality when it comes to using these products instead of ever tech company wanting the consumers to buy only from their eco system I'm pretty sure not alot of people would have complained about audio quality if sony just allowed people to use Bluetooth as well so you don't have to go out and buy another pair of ear buds for a product that might not be compatible with future sony products such as ps6 and beyond

True. But not the technology in those earbuds my friend.. they are over 200 bucks because the name Sony is on them.. which is a shame! Because they have a pair of absolute killer earbuds they could have used! The same with the headsets! Love the Xm series! But if you listen to their gaming headsets.. its like a different company made them.. the difference in sound quality is night and day! Even the budget xm series is sounding more decent. Its like they dont work with the other division within Sony. And I totally agree with the compatibility! Its the same thing apple does..

I'm glad they added an audio jack. Not having Bluetooth may be good. When I use my Pixel Buds on my iPad for remote play, I noticed sound delay and some lag in the game upon using them. Maybe this new way of connection they built in these devices fixes that I hope. What I'm worried about though for the PS Buds is the battery life. That is going to be a really huge factor for forking up 200 dollars. When I used my Pixel Buds on the iPad, within little under an hour, they died. What good will the PS Buds be if you get in bed with PS Portal, hook up your buds as to not disturb your spouse in bed, and they die shortly later. I'm getting the portal but for now, I may have to wait on the buds even though I do want them.
Planar is notably known to be power hungry to sound good, so yeah. extra worries.

I think people think they want Bluetooth, but they don't actually want Bluetooth... there's a pretty noticable delay when you're gaming with Bluetooth, and it's kinda annoying.
I still think it should have been an option, but I'm sure the PS link connection is going to be superior.
They make many bluetooth earbuds/headphones with low latency "Game modes."

I'm worried, the lag of bluetooth is like the SD card thing on the vita a thing that can kill the portal. Probably still going to get a pair of the pulse explore, but they seem like they're only usable with the portal or a PlayStation 5, it concerns me that they decided to go this way, but I have to get one or the other since I don't want a wire in my portal, other than a charging cable, I have almost dropped other handheld because of my headset being connected via wire, I'm don't thing I'm getting the elite since my ears are to big for plus 3d's, I just wish I could use my normal or my Bluetooth ones.
And you talk about using the portal out and about, and being connected by a wire is fine, it just does not work other then at home in my opinion, I don't think I can hear a difference between my normal headsets and these new one, but time will tell.

You need Bluetooth on a headset, so you can answer a call on your phone while gaming and don't have to take them off. Or you can play your own music lightly in the background.

Why would they not allow the headset to work with the 3.5mm jack without power? The current pulse headphones does. That makes no sense to me.,
The old pulse 3d headset works without any battery power because it uses traditional dynamic drivers, just like any classic, battery-free pair of wired headphones would be expected to work. At this point so far at least, the current technology for the more modern, higher fidelity Planar Magnetic drivers, as implemented in the new version of the pulse headset, necessarily requires electricity for the drivers to function in any capacity whatsoever, and thus won't work without battery power the way any old school headphones normally do.

It also doesn't support cloud stream either.. That's a major problem and miss for PlayStation Users

Pulse elite only 40 pounds more than pulse 3d it will be the best purchase of this year - larger battery 30 hours plus charger, amazing sound, retractable microphone, bluetooth, and I hope more comfortable than the basic version, preorder ordered.

I've been watching your PSP videos and while the videos are great, it's too much fan boying. Such a niche device. Too many limitations for me for $200.
As a new PS5 owner (thanks limited edition Spidey console), these accessories are too much for too little.
As an owner of two different Sony headphones and earbuds that are all feature packed, these kinds let me down.
The headphones is probably the best deal. Planar headphones and Bluetooth is good. We'll see when they come out.

Definitely not a cash grab. Sony acquired Audeze in August of this year, so these headphones have their patented planar drivers at half the cost of the Audeze brand.
The pulse elites coming out isn’t a cash grab, Sony bought audeze and the new pulse elites have planar magnetic drivers like the maxwell and penrose. The pulse elites will blow the pulse 3d out of the water in frequency range, body and bass, including 3d audio.I have already ordered my pulse elite and paid for It in full through Amazon. Can’t wait until February

Sony and their anti Bluetooth starts to get annoying.. they being just as annoying as apple nowadays! Bluetooth is the standard! Just use it.. why? Because its consumer friendly to do so! Its like apple and their annoying usb war.. i hate apple for being so annoying about using other products with their products and Sony also starts to go that anti consumer route.. please dont do that! If you’re products are good people will buy them.. stop being apple Sony.. one annoying self centered rich folk company is more than enough.
