Love the introduction to audiophile lingo and simple explanation to SQL measurements in context to gaming and the FPS genre and also music genres. Awesome and educational video!
As someone who owns all of these except for the Maxwell (due to them being 450€+ and on back order for half a year here in Germany), I'd love to see your EQ settings for each, since you talked about using EQ to fix some minor issues but didn't put your settings on screen. Any chance you could do a small video on them or put that in a Community Post? Also thanks for the great video, very informative and fun watch!
Ordered a pair recently which will be arriving tomorrow and would very much appreciate a custom EQ video for the Maxwell. On a side note, did you want me to order and ship you a pair?, providing you pay me back for them of course 🤣 mine cost around £330 for the Xbox version (€390) and I’m sure shipping wouldn’t cost €60+ from Uk to Germany.
@@inouji no worries, they’re a worthwhile investment imo. Still pleasantly surprised by the sound quality when both gaming and listening to music weeks after purchasing. And the battery life.. just 🤌
You were right about the Pulse Elite imaging. I don't think I've ever heard anything better. It's really impressive. In Warzone I could (for the first time ever) tell if boxes were above me or below me and exactly where they were around me. Of course footsteps were perfect as well. Unfortunately for me, I absolutely hate having a sealed closed off headset. When I went back to the A50X it was like my whole world opened up (because it did) lol. I could hear myself talking again and hear my surroundings. That is a must for me. And the sound of the A50 is still great. By the way, thanks for making these clarifications about the Pulse. Keep up the great work.
@@animenerd6673 Sound wise… it’s an upgrade for sure. Comfort wise…I think it’s a downgrade personally. Downgrade as far as using the headset goes too. I’m talking about changing volume and muting and voice to chat balancing etc.
@@Juice_VI I have the modkit with Astro a50 which of course gives me more bass and sound isolation, I tend to use this more for story games and when watching movies.. with the stock Astro a50 it does sound more tinny.. would you say the stock Astro pads is similar to the pulse elite?
The customer reviews of the 3D are higher because of the disconnects. Have you found the Elite to disconnect a lot? Do you know if Sony has any plans to fix this if true? I want a good headset for general use but also gaming. I don't need the microphone. Considering this, would you recommend this over the Sennheiser 560S, Sennheiser 599 or Sennheiser game ZERO headset? Which is most recommended of these 4 for a casual gamer that would use the headset for movies, TV and music as well. If you have not used the Sennheiser then I understand if you have no way to compare. Thank you for the great video. I appreciate any guidance with these questions and concerns.
Mine finally showed up today and I have to say i'm absolutely impressed. My PS Platinum wireless ear pads had started chipping/cracking and after 4 years I decided it was time to pull the trigger on a new set, especially due to poor battery life and often complained background sound from my fan. I've got a few different sets of headphones but mainly daily drive a set of Sony MDR-XB950 ($150ish territory) wired headphones as well as a set of Ultrasone HFi 2400's ($320ish MSRP), (Competitors to Sennheiser HD650s/AKG Q701s). Im lacking on the amp/DAC side as im just using my Focusrite 2i2 that I use for guitar playback but also have a Astro A40-TR mixamp (usb as no digital optical present on PS5 ;/) that I use to drive them. My first impressions were that I was expecting to be blown away over the Sony platinums and wasn't really feeling that.... That feeling quickly went away. The more I used them, the more I began to notice subtle nuanced little sounds I'd never heard before in all the thousands of hours i've spent on my PS5. Subtle background swishing effects in the PS5 menu and tactile little taps suddenly become defined, discernible, and easily noticed in regards to location/movement. In Gran Turismo 7, I began noticing the sounds of my suspension traveling and clacking as I'd compress my springs over dips in the track or over raised apexs. Mic was immediately commented on by everyone (even non audio people) as much clearer, after 6 hours use im still at full battery on it, and they absolutely feel light compared to the platinums. Button interface is a little awkwardly placed but super minor. Not crazy about the look but just sheer convenience of the dual blue tooth and AI noise suppresion would be a win for me. When you factor in everything these headphones do, for $150 it's honestly astonishing. It's admittedly a little on the bright side especially in regards to treble (reminds me alot of the roller-coastery HFI 2400s with how they manage certain high signals), which absolutely may come off as "harsh" and fatiguing to non headphone people used to bass/dark sounding signatures. But that same principle is what I feel like is resulting in such nuanced refined clear sound as well. I would recommend rolling off the treble/high just a tiny bit. 10/10. At $150 if you're concerned with sound stage and features, nothing comes close. Sony is a true audio company through and through and it still shows.
I kept the Pulse Elite for a few hours before returning them. Imaging is great but they are very uncomfortable with the ear cups getting warm very quickly, there’s a weird air bubble trapped in the cup that adds a lot of pressure. Last but not least, the sound signature is very unpleasant. Adjusting EQ doesn’t change the sound enough, sadly.
@@GadgetryTech Im really curious if you have had any of the disconnection issues on the Pulse Elites that many of us have had. I am literally on my 4th pair and continue to have the issues. Im in the seventh ring of Sony RMA hell....
I just got the Pulse Elite, and music is so much more detailed than my G Pro X 2. On the G Pro X 2, all the instruments in most songs kind of muddle together and it's not really too detailed. But on the Pulse Elite, you can hear each individual instrument, especially the hi-hats. The sound quality is really impressive for $150
i got the Pulse 3D for almost 2 years now, all i can say is that they feel very comfortale and premium for 100€, still looking for a brand new headset for my Ps5 in the near future.
I had pulse 3d and personally they are not for me. They pressed very hard on the head and lay on the ears..Besides, the microphone in the chat is just crap. I sold them quickly and bought a razer kaira pro. Great headphones, but even with the equalizer, something was missing. In addition, there was little charge, a bad microphone and a micro lag of the gamepad due to these headphones. As a result, the day before yesterday I received a sony pulse elite and.. oh my God, it's just great! The sound is much clearer and more pleasant, they do not press, they sit in a circle of ears and an excellent microphone. I am very happy with the headphones now and did not think that in terms of sound and comfort there would be such a difference between 3d and elite..but! If you buy pulse elite, handle them carefully and do not press inside the ear pads. Otherwise, you will tear the membrane in the earphone (this is the same for all audeze). It's just that I, as a user, decided to share this with you. I am very happy with the headphones. Although they are made of poor quality materials, they sound and sit on your head just great compared to pulse 3d and razer kaira pro.
I wish Sony made a premium headset with the 90mm Audeze drivers. I love the sound of the Maxwell, but the lack of simultaneous BT, poor soundstage, and cheap headband makes it a no for me at $300.
@@cooldudex14 Love them. Great for conf calls - the ambient noise cancellation is fantastic, and I can go anywhere in the house without losing the connection. Music and movies sound great. No gaming yet, so no opinion there. Battery life is easy to lose track of. Checked where I was at after several weeks - just over 50% so topped them off.
@@sulpher9 Those are features that i like ha ha Well in that case i will most likely be looking forward to owning a pair for myself. I've been getting complaints from my friend that my mic echoes their voices. So a change of headsets is in order. Thank you very much for your response. I truly appreciate it!
Hell yeah! I called that out via text in the video during the Vr section . Just be careful not to overly compress the pad seal because there’s risk of damaging the driver. I
As a mainly single player gamer these days am a little bit underwhelmed by Pulse elite. From initial few hours of testing thry sound about the same as nova pro wireless and my hd599 and both epos h6pro's (open back and closed back) sound better . Was expecting more from planar magnetic. Maybe its mainly good for competitive shooters (positioning/imaging). Should have gone maxwell but didnt want to deal with weight/clamping as a glasses wearer.
I love how clear the Pulse Elite headset is straight out of the box. I’m the opposite of a bass head. I like highs to come through for vocal clarity and ambience, and the Elite delivers by the bucket. Been playing Siege and Cyberpunk recently and it’s just bang on point. Sound detail and directional cues are incredible for £130 uk. Ridiculous really. Only downside, my siege team mates hate the mic, and noticed right away switching from the Steelseries Nova 7P. Also, with leather pads, the sidetone is abysmal. Not even worth having it. Really hoping they can update the mic quality and sidetone with firmware. The AI cancellation is fantastic, but it should have an option to turn it off to allow a clearer voice representation. IMO.
Yea some of the reviews I've watched the mic sounded decent, but for me it's sounding terrible! I've got a deep voice, and I don't know if that's an issue, but it shouldn't be, if anything that should make it less harsh. I hope a firmware update can eq the mic better - or even better, allow us to eq the mic ourselves that would be a great feature.
The remarkable intricacy displayed in these reviews is truly astonishing. I have yet to encounter anyone who can surpass this highly specialized field. My sincerest congratulations to you! Your work continues to be exceptional as always.
Thank you for acknowledging headphone hiss, you’re the only TH-camr I’ve heard confirming if a headphone has it or not. I have tinnitus and even slight white noise can be hell. I’m between h5 and pulse elite using steel series arctic 1 now
So got the pulse elite, and all i can say is maybe ill return them it just keeps randomly disconnecting and im not sure if sony is addressing this issue. 😢
Great as always, would like to see the harman curve of the elite vs TB stealth and arctis nova pro wireless. But knowing its pretty darn close in audio price wise, i think i have a clear winner to try out Keep up the awesome channel Joe🤘🤘
My only issue with the Pulse Elie is it does not get real loud. On PC and PS5 it just doesn't unless you plug into an amp. Still debating on sending it back because of it.
I’m having issues with the Elite mic, my friends say that is really bad during party and the AI noise cancellation is eating the first part of my words. Tried changing the mic volume but it’s even worse, I sound just louder and the fist few letters of a word are muffled. Also they’re not very comfortable because of the round earpads. I think I’ll return them if there isn’t any solution to the mic problem, despite sounding better than anything I’ve had before (currently using Epos H6 pro)
Pulse Elite sounds great and is comfortable BUT, the earcups are so loose I can hear them knocking around when I move my jaw to speak/shout. Also, given that the mic is pretty decent, the PS5 sidetone implementation and quality is absolutely awful. Maxwell had far, far better sidetone.
Hi, I wanted to add that the pulse elite has a huge amount of distortion in the bass when there are many things going on at once in-game( stock EQ). If you go full volume they sound really bad when low range comes into play. It gets worse when you try to play Bluetooth music at high volume when bass comes in. I wouldn’t recommend these headphones, if you like to have your headphones at high volume. (Yes I did the update)
Yeah I tried warning that in both videos. It’s not a bass heavy headset for high volumes. They require a bass reduction but it depends again on how loud you listen to it. If you want a lot of bass at $150 for PlayStation, I would go with the Inzone H5 or Stealth 700 G2 Max.
@@arash7even I don’t think an update I’ll help, it’s mostly how the drivers were implemented and tuned. Sadly I’m returning mine, really wanted to like these but the distortion is bothering me
@@lorddrifter7296 well I have both now and elite feels more clear and better direction but have distortion problem which hurt your ears! I dont understand how such a big company can make and release a product which has issues.. TB gen 1 had kind of same issue with distortion and noise ..
You're one of the few honest reviewers remaining on youtube overall. I bought the maxwells a while back after watching several reviews. It's really underwhelming in imaging in FPS considering the price point and the technology used. You highlighted specific lesser priced headsets outperform it in this department, and it's completely true that it's really good all around (I was blown away watching Dune with the maxwells, and listening to music as well is a really unique experience that I've never had on any other headset). I bought the stealth pros purely for competitive FPS/footstep advantage, and I constantly swap back and forth between the two depending on what I'm doing. When I'm playing immersive games it's the maxwells all day (and sometimes shooters as well as they can still be quite solid depending on the game), when I'm looking to top the scoreboard its the stealth pros. I'll keep the Pulse Elite in mind for the future, that sounds really encouraging as you don't heap praise lightly on footstep imaging. For anyone here who's making a purchasing decision and budget isn't an issue. If you want the maxwells but you're also someone who cares about footsteps/imaging, make sure to pair it with a second headset (in this case the Pulse Elite seems like a really good complementary headset in that regard). if you purely care about imaging and budget is an issue, I wouldn't recommend the maxwells, they're overrated in that regard. Keep up the good work!
Thank you SO much!! I am so sorry I missed your comment. I had an alert notification that stopped working for Super Thanks and I had no idea. Now I'm playing catchup! It's this system (I just added the logo I wanted) - amzn.to/3ZfaosY
The earpads are removable on Pulse Elite and Wicked Cushions is already cooking something for them, I believe. They put up a disassembly video on their channel.
I found your channel last night and after watching a couple videos, i subbed, your content is amazing, bought the pulse elite headset today it's fantastic for the price.
They're pretty close. I think the arctis nova pro wireless sound slightly better at full 24bit 96khz setting on dac/base station, especially in single player games. For competitive shooters the pulse elite sounds better imo (more accurate in terms of positioning/imaging). I don't like the nova pros for longer gaming sessions though because of the annoyance factor of the noise canceling nubs inside the ear cups touching the inside of my ears.
Awesome comparison I have elite charging right now, It is definitely comfortable on the head compared to Maxwell due to lighter weight, I like the suspension system
So, I’ve tried for the past 3 weeks the Elite, the Maxwell as well as Epos H6pro (both open and closed) The Maxwell are worst of them all: 1) they are frankly too heavy for a normal human being, they are uncomfortable and the stock pads are way too shallow. 2) the sound is clean but the soundstage and imaging is literal crap, I don’t know how people can suggest it as a gaming headset, it just doesn’t work for directional audio, is terrible. 3) the microphone is great Elite: 1) By far the best sound, for both music and game, the soundstage and imaging are simply incredible and the sound is so detailed I couldn’t believe it. 2) they are built like shit, uncomfortable and small, pads are shallow and they constantly move around if you move your head. 3) the microphone is absolutely disgusting, tried 2 different ones, returned the first because I thought it was an issue with that particular model but nope, second pair is the same, the microphone USED on a ps5, both party and /or game chat, sounds terrible, like the AI is muffling it in the attempt to suppress noises that don’t exist. EPOS H6PRO The best of both worlds from the other 2: Great mic, super clear Great audio, not as detailed as the Elite, but somewhat comparable imaging and stage Super comfortable I really want the Elite to be good, if the mic as fixed with a software e update they be my first choice as the sound is simply phenomenal and I would ignore the comfort issues over it. But in reality you’re punching your friends in the face with that mic. The Maxwell were an absolute let down, I really do not understand why they are so hyped.
I feel the Pulse 3D headphones are so much more comfortable than the Pulse Elite - I find them to be some of the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned, up there with the classic Sony MDR-7506 headphones. I actually just returned my Pulse Elite's for the following reasons: * Consistent pain these headphones give me near my temples make these a deal breaker. Even after stretching them out over the retail box on several nights, the pain returns. Some days it's more noticeable than others but it's always there and within 15-30 minutes, I begin to get a headache - every single session. I've tried moving the headband to different positions on my head, moving the ear pads to different parts of my ear, etc. - no luck. * I can hear my heartbeat as soon as I put them on. * To use them with PSVR2, you have to put them on and put the headset over them. I didn't think this was much of an issue until my son tapped me on my shoulder to get my attention and I couldn't remove one side of my headphones to expose my ear like I normally would because the VR2 headband is holding them down in place. If I want to talk to anyone in my house, I have to remove the headset and then the headphones. Sounds trivial but is majorly annoying since I expose my ear to communicate with my family while playing VR often.
The elites? They would be a nightmare in my opinion. I own a pair and if you’re walking around, the ear cups wiggle so much that with each step you hear a clunk noise from the ear cups coming into contact with the plastic. Unless you’re seated with these and gaming, I wouldn’t recommend them
Hi I was wondering if you could try and use the Razer Blackshark v2 Pro 2023 mic on the Audeze Maxwell to see if the mic would sound any better than the default Audeze Maxwell mic
The Maxwell will be here tomorrow! Can not wait ❤ Thanks for all your Videos! So happy to finally have a solid sounding Headset soon, and only thanks to all your Content. I tried so many in the past half decade, and either build quality or sound quality (often both) just couldnt deliver. The Penrose was too fragile for me personally too, at that price point. The Maxwell will be exactly what i want to replace my wired Headset.
I'm using the Arctis Nova Pro wired for my PS5, I've found it to be an excellent audio experience, however your review of the Pulse Elite has me considering a switch, Is the clarity on the Pulse Elite superior to the Nova Pro? I've got your tune for warzone on my Nova pro, made a huge difference, Thanks.
@@kevinoconnell2269but how is the experience on ps5 with the nova pro? I was going to get the novas until the announcements of the pulse elites and now I don’t know what to pick
@vsplash5270 they have been excellent, I got the wired on sale , the pulse elite seems like a great deal for 150, I'm not qualified to recommend one over the other.
If you have an external hard drive that can interfere with the frequency. I'm curious to see how many people that are having these disconnects have an external hard drive connected to their PS5
@@RobK-rl6snhad a similar issue and was driving me mad, I was a few meters away from my Audeze and it disconnected every few minutes, I was thinking about returning them but they were working flawlessly on PC, phone and everything else. Moved the dongle to a place way further from the external HDD and they stay connected in the whole house.
I've returned them too. They are horrible, constant disconnects, charging issues, never had a headset with so many issues. Internet is full of disgruntled people. The sound is great but going back to simple steelseries arctis nova 5 gave me piece of mind.
Bought Pulse Elite on release. Not happy with it. Did firmware update and still dosent resolve hiss and distortion. Hoping it could be an excellent planar magnetic light weight alternative to the Maxwell. Pulse elite is going back. Maxwells weight sucks but the sound and volume headroom make up for it.
Just picked up the pulse elite after watching this video. It disconnected a few times right after getting it set up. For some reason that also made my ps5 reset. I scoured the settings and couldn’t find anything related. Any ideas?
Thank you for the great comparaison yet again! I spoted a fresh looking HD 490 Pro in your background so I'm assuming a review is in the works for us open-back enjoyers? 🙃
Great video. I have a question. I mostly play warzone on PS5. I have a pair of KZ Zar running off a soundblaste gc7. Would the pulse elite be an upgrade or downgrade to my current sound quality?
The only one missing is the Sony Inzone buds, I would like to know how you think they sound. I am personally very happy with them. The comfort and sound are its strongest selling points. Sometimes, wearing a headset can be fatiguing, especially when the weather gets warmer.
Thx, really thx. So much work. Because of you,i bought the Audeze Maxwell, and i have a lot of Headsets, but for me the Maxwell is the best i've ever had. :-)
Thank you for this review!! I may have missed it, but is the Pulse Elite's earcushion replaceable? Much like how the Pulse 3D was. It certainly helps when deciding a purchase.
I have the explore and the elite for testing by me, but i can't decide me. Because the Elite sounds detailed and the 3D audio is great but the bass is very low. I think by the explore, the 3D audio is a little bit smaller but the bass is better for me. Am i right with my assessment?
I just purchased both myself thinking that the headset would just crush the earbuds, but for what it's worth I think the earbuds hold their own very well against the headset. I just might be returning my headset and keeping the earbuds since I like to game on my VR and the earbuds are more portable. Still deciding though since I like both products but don't really think I need both.
Thanks for the video man. I had major issues with the Pulse Elite and the PSVR2 headset and could not get a comfortable fit at all. Noting I did have the Globular Comfort Mod which has a top strap and then doesnt really work with the whole "put on the Elite first then the PSVR2". I did try it without the mod installed but even with the headphones on first then the PSVR2 over the top, it wouldnt sit right and wouldnt completely cover my ears causing it pinch. It seems really strange how the Pulse 3D was a perfect fit and design for the PSVR2 but not these upgraded headphones.
This is another great video. I picked up the Pulse Elites after your review and they have so many positives. The one thing that's making them near unusable for me is in shooters the guns seem so much louder than everything else. So much so it was painful. I had to drop the audio down to about 30-40% to make the gun noises bearable in MW2, fortnite etc, but that then made all other sounds too quiet. It's like the sound is too sharp for certain things and it's so uncomfortable I've gone back to my nova 7x's. Are there any good EQ settings to try and soften this a bit? Thanks and keep up the amazing work.
Marvelous contend, as always. As a Steelseries Fanboy I would like to know how the Pulse Elite performs against Nova 7x or Nova Pro Wireless. And by the way, are there any good “Airwave” type Cushions (like on the Nova 7x) available and recommendable for the Nova Pro Wireless? WC seems to not have some in their lineup. Don’t like the heavy Freezing WCs.
I came from the 7P and the pulse elites sound better. The directional sound is really good and the bass is not overwhelming like that 7P. Well worth the money
@@kmwong1988 Thank you all! this community is just awesome. I will definitely buy them. The only thing that worries me a bit is the earpads since I have the Sony Gold wireless and I know the material breaks after 6-10 months if you use them regularly, and these earpads are glued, but I guess Wicked Cushion will come up with a solution by the time mine breaks lol. I will use my Nova 7p for regular day to day on the PC and then the Pulse Elite exclusively for gaming, that will surely make them last longer. Thanks again everyone.
Fantastic video. Thanks for doing this comparison, it helped me a lot, as I learnt a great deal from it. The Elite seems to be the right headset for me.
Loving the Pulse Elite so far. Tried it with Assassin’s Creed Mirage so far and I’m hearing things I’ve never heard before in game and even just things like the ambience of the setting around the character. Just top notch all round.
That is a toughone tbh! Both are great. I'd probably lean towards the Nova Pro Wireless for the feature set. It's basically double the price though, but I feel it still offers more in the end. With EQ it's still good enough for FPS gaming, but also has the potential to provide a little more bass if you want it. It's just not as clear/detailed as the Pulse Elite.
I just received mine pulse elite yesterday. I lost connection either the Playstation 5 twice and had to disconnect and connect it again to make it work. Also after or in between use when its quite I hear a very soft crackling sound on both ear cups. Even when the the headset is turned off. I might return in.
Hello my friend. I have quite some knowledge about tech and stuff but I believe not as much as you do, sound related. I bought an audio extractor form ezcoo to deal with the lack of digtal ports on the new consoles and I still do not know what sound is for real being extracted out from the SPDIF port! On my Xbox Series X the output is bitstream and Dobly Atmos. Connected to this SPDIF out is my Astro's MixAmp, also connected to the SPDIF port. My Ezcoo audio extractor is set to mimic of whatever is on the HDMI out of this HDMI Audio extractor. Do you any any idea my friend if the audio is Dolby Atmos on my headphones connected to my MixAmp? Thanks and keep up teh good work.
Just an update I’ve been using the Elites for the last week now and they’re insanely good for FPS games!! COD, Siege, PUBG, etc I’ve been able to pinpoint footsteps and other sounds nicely! I had the Stealth Pros before and they were good for COD but I always struggled a bit in other games!
Superb video, my friend. I loved the ridiculous mic test. That is exactly what I wanted. I never owned gaming headphones and didn't know it could be so difficult lol. I like the pulse 3d elite and the H5. I have a small head so I'm thinking the elite might be too big.
Does your Audeze Maxwell have driver crinkling? I keep reading about it, but I'm not sure if it's something that inevitably happens to all units or just some unlucky ones.
As more an audiophile fan, I have the Maxwells, but I find them pretty unnatural sounding. Granted I think most gaming headsets sound abysmally poor, like I had a pair of Nova Pro Wireless only a few months back and those made things sound extremely artificial, almost like AI voices. The main place I hear it is voices where they sound really scratchy compared to normal. You get used to it after using them a while, but then I put on my other headphones next to me I remember how bad it is. I think for music the Maxwells are pretty decent, but they also don't have that wide a sound to them. It makes sense with it being advertised as a gaming headset and imagine usually comes at the cost of soundstage, but I does make it a fair bit less impressive for general use. I do think imaging is pretty decent, at least for the price. I think the imaging is still slightly messy but just way better than most wireless headphones. But I think that might also just be a sign of how poor wireless headphones have been.
i must say i feel like the hate the pulse explore earbuds got was from people who werent audio enthusiasts .. like planar drivers , ear buds, lossless audio for explosions, monsters, bullets .. trigger to ear sound reaction.
Pulse Elite is extremely uncomfortable with PSVR2. Putting it on top of the headset creates a gap in the ear ups and sound like hell. Under the headset and the headset has a hard time staying in location due to the weight pushing down on it. Have to make constant adjustments. Not to mention how the VR headset clamps the ear cups to your ears and in about 30 minutes things get painful. Without the VR, the support strap is like a smooth texture so it slides all over the place when moving your head around. It’s like the support band isn’t tight enough or grippy enough. Everything is lightweight cheap plastic. So all the weight is on the ear cups. Hence the reason they move around so much. Noticing a crackling/popping noise occasionally not to mention 5 drop outs altogether in the audio where it disconnects in 3 hours. I’ve reset the link adapter numerous times and repaired twice. Same issues. But hey, they sound great.
THIS was the video I've been looking for. I wear glasses and I love my Inzone H9 because it's incredibly comfortable to wear (my Steelseries Arctis was literally too painful to wear for more than an hour). I'm looking to upgrade though and I've been having my eye on the Elite.
The pulse elites are amazing in every area, the problem is the disconnecting. I saw the reviews and thought maybe I'd be the lucky one but nope, disconnecting mid game every 1-2 hrs and it got so frustrating I returned them.
I have only one single issue with pulse elite lol, and that’s the seal. I am completely weirded out by the fact a headset is sealing my ears the same way earbuds do. Now of course this is something I’ll just get used to but I’ve never owned a headset that does that so every time I put it on it catches me off guard and feels weird lol.
Been watching your stuff for a good year & love all your scenarios for quality/value. I do wonder based off your exp. if getting an Arctis Nova Pro wired w/ the gamedac is more worth the price I found it @ $110 vs. the Pulse Elite @ $150 in terms of overall quality. Could I EQ the Pros to get something similar to Elite's or is it just outclassed by the drivers/quality? I have 0 preference for wired/wireless, but Elite's 'lossless' USB adapter does interest me since I do get pretty bothered by wireless 'compression'.
The Elites have more detail for sure but they are very bright and lack bass. I think the Nova Pro Wired is a safer suggestion for having a versatile sound profile.
The way you access the game chat mix on the elites is no different than accessing it on any other headset. It is not available unless you are in a party chat where on the inzones and the pulse 3d you can actually adjust the game chat like it’s meant to be. I tried the elites, but decided to stick with my virtuoso XT because of comfort (I have 3rd party ear pads) and the lack of real game chat. I didn’t find the elites uncomfortable to wear but I didn’t find that they were any reason to change headsets. I would recommend them if you are in need of a ps5 headset but I don’t think it’s necessary to get if your current headset is working
How does the sound quality compare between the explore buds and the pulse elite? I currently have the H9 but I’m interested in checking one of these out for my ps5 & ps Portal
@@Jur4.0 it’s nothing to do with the EQ it’s more the positioning it’s not terrible and for games like hunt showdown or tarkov it’s amazing because you can more easily tell the difference in audio cues. But if you play cs2 or warzone like seriously I wouldn’t get the Maxwells
My current headsets are the older version of the razer black shark v2 pro (for pc) and the pulse 3d (for ps5). I want to get one headset for both platforms instead. I play both single player and multiplayer games. If I eq the pulse elite, will the sound still be good to get immersed in single player games. I've been wanting the Maxwell's for a while, but now I that the pulse elites are out, I don't really want to spend that much money on them. Will the bass be good enough with eq?
Hello everyone. I finally bought pulse elite. Before that, there were razer kaira pro. And oh my God, that's great! Of course, there are no basses like on kaira, but the sound is much clearer and more pleasant. They keep the charge for a long time and in the same way: THEY ARE VERY CONVENIENT. Pulse 3d was a complete crap and sold out a week later. There were no outages on pulse elite. I was in doubt for a long time and decided to check pulse elite myself..And these are incredible headphones for the money. In terms of the quality of the materials, yes, it is bad. But the microphone, the sound, and the way they sit on their heads are beyond praise. All those who were also touched by the terrible pulse 3d are completely different headphones. Pulse 3d was pressed on the head and lay on top of the ear. The pulse elite does not squeeze and is worn around the ears and does not cause discomfort.
I searched all week for a good comparison between the 3D and the Elite with no luck, until now. Thank you so much. Great video!
Same! This was very helpful

Love the introduction to audiophile lingo and simple explanation to SQL measurements in context to gaming and the FPS genre and also music genres. Awesome and educational video!
These are the best reviews one can find on YT. Keep up the excellent work.
yeah best headset reviewer i think
As someone who owns all of these except for the Maxwell (due to them being 450€+ and on back order for half a year here in Germany), I'd love to see your EQ settings for each, since you talked about using EQ to fix some minor issues but didn't put your settings on screen. Any chance you could do a small video on them or put that in a Community Post?
Also thanks for the great video, very informative and fun watch!
Would love to see this too. I’ve been obsessively trying to land on an EQ setting here lol.

@@AwesomeGingersFtw Thanks for the offer but I‘m not in a financial position for that plunge lol. I do really appreciate it though! :)
Bro how would you compare both since I have the Astro a50 gen 4.. I’m thinking of getting the pulse elite.. would you say it’s a downgrade?
@@animenerd6673 Sound wise… it’s an upgrade for sure. Comfort wise…I think it’s a downgrade personally. Downgrade as far as using the headset goes too. I’m talking about changing volume and muting and voice to chat balancing etc.
@@Juice_VI I have the modkit with Astro a50 which of course gives me more bass and sound isolation, I tend to use this more for story games and when watching movies.. with the stock Astro a50 it does sound more tinny.. would you say the stock Astro pads is similar to the pulse elite?
@@animenerd6673 The A50 will have more deep bass than the Pulse I think. No matter which pads you use. The planar drivers don’t get super low.
You should turn sidetone on should help so it doesn’t feel as closed off.

That was amazing lol. As Ronnie Coleman like to say: lightweight babyyy!
Awesome video man
LOL. I stopped filming but definitely curled over 1000.
Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder, but no body want to lift these heavy ass headsets. Joe will do it though 😂
I love you so much. This is the video I've been waiting for. Inzone vs elite.
I got you!
Right! I just bought the elite buds last year and had no clue if the headset was worth it. I am not a fan of the buds, they aren’t super comfortable
@@GadgetryTech Im really curious if you have had any of the disconnection issues on the Pulse Elites that many of us have had. I am literally on my 4th pair and continue to have the issues. Im in the seventh ring of Sony RMA hell....
Your review quality for these products is levels above any other on the internet.
I just got the Pulse Elite, and music is so much more detailed than my G Pro X 2.
On the G Pro X 2, all the instruments in most songs kind of muddle together and it's not really too detailed. But on the Pulse Elite, you can hear each individual instrument, especially the hi-hats.
The sound quality is really impressive for $150
Hands down one of the best and realistic reviews I’ve seen for headphones
Now THIS is the comparison video I've been looking for!!
i got the Pulse 3D for almost 2 years now, all i can say is that they feel very comfortale and premium for 100€, still looking for a brand new headset for my Ps5 in the near future.
@@f1roks461 alright, thanks for your comment!❤️
I got the Ultra Violet Maxwells too but I still love watching these videos. I appreciate the humor added. Awesome work Joe
I wish Sony made a premium headset with the 90mm Audeze drivers. I love the sound of the Maxwell, but the lack of simultaneous BT, poor soundstage, and cheap headband makes it a no for me at $300.
You helped make the decision, just got my Maxwell's - first impression - AWESOME!
How do you feel about the maxwell now? Do you still feel happy with them?
I got the maxwells, having to return them. They are not for people with a larger head. Wore them all day yesterday, and man I felt it on my head.
FYI. The pulse elite are able to slide on the inside of the PSVR2 headband ring. I was able to wear my PSVR2 over my pulse elite headset.
Hell yeah! I called that out via text in the video during the Vr section . Just be careful not to overly compress the pad seal because there’s risk of damaging the driver. I
Omg that could be the game changer
What’s your EQ for Siege? Been struggling hearing footsteps on the Elites
But knowing its pretty darn close in audio price wise, i think i have a clear winner to try out
Keep up the awesome channel Joe🤘🤘
Excellent video, very detailed and explained everything perfectly
My only issue with the Pulse Elie is it does not get real loud. On PC and PS5 it just doesn't unless you plug into an amp. Still debating on sending it back because of it.
You sir, are an incredible tech reviewer. Tuning in everyday to watch more of your content and see you grow!
Are these EQ graphs with or without eq changes on the pulse elite?
And what would (in your opinion) be the best treble eq setting?
Great video, gj
Never seen a better tech review!
thanks!
This review was very helpful. Much better and detailed than other reviews I saw. Thank you!!
Felt the same comparing to my Gen 2 Max! Hopefully they can fix it with next update! Otherwise will return it..

Fantastic comparison. Thank you. Which Headset is better in terms of the sound quality - SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless or Pulse Elite?
Wondering the same thing
They're pretty close. I think the arctis nova pro wireless sound slightly better at full 24bit 96khz setting on dac/base station, especially in single player games. For competitive shooters the pulse elite sounds better imo (more accurate in terms of positioning/imaging). I don't like the nova pros for longer gaming sessions though because of the annoyance factor of the noise canceling nubs inside the ear cups touching the inside of my ears.
@@Trai1b1aze I have the weird version. Thank you for your reply.
Awesome comparison I have elite charging right now, It is definitely comfortable on the head compared to Maxwell due to lighter weight, I like the suspension system
Came here for the Elite, think you sold me on an H5, seems more versatile for the same price, and it's black and doesn't look stupid
Better comfort and chatmix included in H5. Send my elite back to keep my H5
So, I’ve tried for the past 3 weeks the Elite, the Maxwell as well as Epos H6pro (both open and closed)
The Maxwell are worst of them all:
1) they are frankly too heavy for a normal human being, they are uncomfortable and the stock pads are way too shallow.
2) the sound is clean but the soundstage and imaging is literal crap, I don’t know how people can suggest it as a gaming headset, it just doesn’t work for directional audio, is terrible.
3) the microphone is great
Elite:
1) By far the best sound, for both music and game, the soundstage and imaging are simply incredible and the sound is so detailed I couldn’t believe it.
EPOS H6PRO
The best of both worlds from the other 2:
Great mic, super clear
Great audio, not as detailed as the Elite, but somewhat comparable imaging and stage
Super comfortable
I really want the Elite to be good, if the mic as fixed with a software e update they be my first choice as the sound is simply phenomenal and I would ignore the comfort issues over it.
I actually just returned my Pulse Elite's for the following reasons:
* Consistent pain these headphones give me near my temples make these a deal breaker.
I might need to get that headset for my gym bro. 😮😂😂

@kevinoconnell2269 okay thanks
I got the Pulse elite yesterday and get random disconnects over and over again every 12 to 15 minutes.
Try moving the adapter to the front of your console, fixed the problem for me
If you have an external hard drive that can interfere with the frequency.

Any ideas?

Hopefully we can get the best setup/EQ settings for this headset, from the master of EQ settings!
Hello I would like to know your opinion between the stealth pro from turtles beach and the pulse elite please? Thank you for your answer.
Thank you for this review!!
I may have missed it, but is the Pulse Elite's earcushion replaceable? Much like how the Pulse 3D was. It certainly helps when deciding a purchase.
You missed it. At 1:18 he mentions that they are glued. So they aren't replaceable
Wicked Cushion replacements for it and a video showing how to replace them. Not sure it's actually glued.
@@TheColdest247Can’t even use the elite on PSVR2 for more than 30 minutes without them hurting. They junk.
Hey there, so I was planning to get one for my VR2 also I have the same comfort mod, so you feel better with the pulse 3d?
Had to return mine. Connection drops out and also weird popping/crackling sounds it produces..
Thanks! Drop the High EQ down by 2-3. Reduce treble to minus 4 or 5. Boost low by 1. And hat should help!

Marvelous contend, as always. As a Steelseries Fanboy I would like to know how the Pulse Elite performs against Nova 7x or Nova Pro Wireless. Came from the nova 7 and it’s a massive upgrade. The elites are literally the best gaming headphones I’ve owned overall and I’ve owned many lol.
I came from the 7P and the pulse elites sound better. The directional sound is really good and the bass is not overwhelming like that 7P.

I will use my Nova 7p for regular day to day on the PC and then the Pulse Elite exclusively for gaming, that will surely make them last longer. Thanks again everyone.

If you could decide, would you choose the nova pros wired or the elite pulse? Story games on Playstation and Call of Duty on pc btw
I'm curious too
That is a toughone tbh!
If you’re gaming on ps5 the elite are better.
This is a great video, but I really need more information on those headset stands you're using. Where did you get them?
I just received mine pulse elite yesterday. I lost connection either the Playstation 5 twice and had to disconnect and connect it again to make it work. Also after or in between use when its quite I hear a very soft crackling sound on both ear cups. Even when the the headset is turned off. I might return in.
USB dongle front or back ?
Thanks! I bought a Pulse Elite because of PSVR2 compatibility, and for clearier sound for musics
Pulse Elite vs Stealth Pro for only FPS (footsteps)? Kinda sad you didn't compare it directly to the Stealth Pro and Arctis Nova Pro for FPS
That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out! Wish he could answer that!
Hi, I love your videos. Excellent quality. I noticed the headphone holders. Could you tell me their type please?
The pulse elites are amazing in every area, the problem is the disconnecting. I saw the reviews and thought maybe I'd be the lucky one but nope, disconnecting mid game every 1-2 hrs and it got so frustrating I returned them.
Fantastic review! Thank you for putting this out there. Subscribed.
Torn between the Pulse Explore vs the Inzone Buds. All the hype around the elite is making me consider coming back to overears though too
Pulse explore have planar magnetic driver (only found on high end expensive headphones/earphones)
I think the Nova Pro Wired is a safer suggestion for having a versatile sound profile.
what would you consider better for PS5 GT7 specifically, PULSE Elite or the INZONE H5? Excellent video!
Curious if you plan on comparing the best wireless headphones for FPS? (Stealth Pro vs. Sony Elites).
Yeahhh and wicked cushions en for the stealth pro
No removable earpads on the Pulse Elite? I guess when the pads go bad you must replace the whole unit? Thats awful.
There are videoa in yputube how to take them out.
Do you know the driver size? I can't find it anywhere.
How does the sound quality compare between the explore buds and the pulse elite? I currently have the H9 but I’m interested in checking one of these out for my ps5 & ps Portal
I found the the pulse explore sound better but get uncomfortable after an hour and you got to keep adjusting them
@@juniormorales4762 even with smaller tips?
I have the Maxwells they sound great but it is very hard to pinpoint direction and especially distance
@@MATTE.U.Kso your saying they’re not very good for CoD?
@@Panda-1911 no they are still good for cod I think I was just adjusting. Use Dolby atmos that helps too
Thank you for this! I've been on the fence about getting the H5. Seems like that one will be the best choice for me. 🤠
Guys I just brought the elite headset , it’s good but worth noting that it fully seals your ears and they can get hot and sticky!
