Yknow some part of me really doubts that they’d get in trouble for that? Like some part of that just rubs me as manipulation. I dont know if a citizen refusing to cooperate in a situation where they’re not committing illegal act would be an offense; like what, can a police officer tell someone to get out of their seat and then arrest them if they dont move? My bet is that the officer is a replicant himself and knows that boy is another replicant, and intimidated that clerk to open the door.
I'm honestly super happy people have clarified that not helping someone who "looks to be injured" is okay. Because there are people who will fake an injury to kidnap others; please stay safe, always keep your doors locked, and call the proper people to take care of the situation. Yes there is a charge for fail to render aid but just calling 911 for help for that person and you’re all good, and most of the time dispatchers are not police and do no know the law
Nah the person sounds too normal. Alternates cannot mimic voice anywhere near perfectly. Plus cops are taught to let the people get killed by alternates as to not put themselves at risk
I'd say she was just a normal human who got things wrong, maybe she was a mother herself so it had impact on her caring more about child's wellbeing than caller's?

For the record, the third ending is getting all the answers wrong. Specifically wrong, with the same determination as getting them all right. The third ending is getting a mix of answers. Mark got 2/3 of the endings: mixed answers, and correct answers. I would love to hear his thoughts on the incorrect answers ending. It could get him thinking and I love hearing his takes
I like this game because it feels like a test set up by alternates (Mandela catalog TM) to better hone their appearances, especially the section with the child slowly shifting to become “normal”
They did mention a county in that "ad video" about the park (not that Mandela is the only county in whichever country we're talking about but still) so there's something at play here.
if this is the case then wouldn't the good ending be to get everything wrong? because if this was a test made by alternates to better hone their appearances, getting all of the answers wrong could trick them into thinking that looking super abnormal is trustworthy, which would make the alternates easier to spot. however, this theory doesn't explain the warning at the end of the test about if you get your letter early, so idk.
i think this is one of the 'theories' that makes the most sense honestly. the primary thing alternates are trying to figure out/do is how to fit into society and trick the normal person into thinking they're one of them for whatever reason tbh
@@ev9757 yeah, also i find the "you will join our expanding family" thing with their faces blacked out extremely suspicious, like they're gathering information on what to do and what not to do.
i think this also explains the police dispatcher, who I'm pretty sure was an alternate. He made up some rule about it being illegal to not cooperate and made the guy feel bad so he would go out and be killed. If he were a real police officer, he would've heard the call and most likely known it was an alternate, assuming the police have training similar to Maple County or whatever. So for him to knowingly send a man to his death in my mind can mean only one thing. I also have the theory that the alternates hijacked the assessment. They want you to destroy the real letter, which would arrive in March, and come out of your house when the fake letter arrives in April. That makes you an easy target. The fact that you aren't reaching out to family or police for help makes it even easier, no one will even know you're gone for a while.
Pro tip for indie devs: if you're gonna make a game with multiple endings that would encourage people to play through multiple times, please let players skip through lengthy non-gameplay sections.
@@Vase94 a lot of times non gameplay sections are what hold a lot of the changes in certain routes. If devs want to add that that means that they can’t put anything inportant in those sections because they just let the players skip through it
@@Quatro921 I think that the kind of way that they are saying is to allow players who have seen one scene to skip that scene if it ever shows up again. That way, if there is a change in the scene, you cannot skip and will have to watch though it at least once to do so.
About the dispatcher and the night shift worker, if you look at the other Mandela Catalogue videos, there's a running theme, or at least some scenes where if someone calls to report alternate things, the dispatcher is just supposed to do nothing and distract them till the alternate get to em. I don't remember which video exactly, but it's one of them. There is no safety. The law enforcement is trained to let the callers die. The Mandela Catalogue universe is brutal
The government knows that alternates are too dangerous to be stopped. Trying to intervene will just get more people killed. Also, the scene you're talking about is in "The Mandela Catalogue - Vol. 1" where the police training video says: "If a caller reports an alternate encounter, do not help them. Calmly reassure the caller that help is on the way. When the caller stops answering your questions, you can hang up the call. Do not talk too much. You may reveal your fear." I may have missed a sentence or two, but that's what I remember of it.
As far as I know, the law enforcement are just supposed to let the callers die because they might accidentally reveal their 'fear' to the alternates, the tv kidnapper, and/or the fake god (the devil). Doing so will get them killed.
upon taking the test and answering all the trust/threat questions incorrectly (trusting alternates, viewing humans as threats) i found a new ending. the robotic narrator read out the part of little red riding hood where she approaches her grandmother's bed and remarks on how strange she looks. the story cuts off and the image (of the park) turns upside down, the narrator's voice deepening, after she remarks on what a large, terrible mouth her grandmother has. after, the text on the screen goes on in the same style as other endings, this time apologizing to Avram, and referencing, capitalized, Him. i know the mandela catalogue is rooted in christian stories, so maybe someone with more biblical knowledge could decipher the endings. edited because i found out his name was Avram, not Akram.
in like 2024 let's say mandela catalogue is complete, and now we just need to solve it, what would we come to? would it be certain it's the devil and not god? is there 2 gods? is there only ONE god but is actually an eldritch horror entity that destroys entire universes and makes any living thing suffer for eternity? or the first one and the devil DEFEATED god in a way, so now everything is doomed?

Quick reminder to everyone: replying to or mentioning a bot that shows up in the replies section of a comment causes it to register as “engagement” which causes the bots to continue appearing since it attracts views and therefore revenue. DO NOT mention, reply to, or engage with any comment bots unless you want to see them continue to pop-up in the comment section. They are designed to catch your attention and make you angry, because it makes the bot channel money when you fall for it.
The best thing to do is report the fuckers and the channel without engaging. If they say something nasty or whip out the antisemitism you can report them for harrassment or hate speech to get it looked at sooner.
I definitely get the feeling this test was made by alternates as a way to better perfect their human-looking form. So if that's the case, getting all the answers "wrong" might actually be right, as opposed to how Mark was trying to play.
FYI: While refusing to help is not necessarily looked well upon, if you do believe that helping will cause you harm it is totally ok to say no! Ie if the person is very drunk and you are worried they might hurt you, you don't have to help!! I just wanted y'all to know!! Stay safe!
More likely is that you will find someone in a high-risk situation, like a car crash or being pinned under a heavy object. Also certain injuries like head or spine injuries could be made worse by untrained persons. So often you will be unable to help.
I second this! I am an EMT and during our training, we are taught to not try and help unless we know for sure an area is safe for us to be in. So for example, if there is a shooting going on or a fire, we have to wait for law enforcement/fire fighters to make the area safe before we can help. For civilians, no one is going to get in legal trouble for not helping. Especially if you are afraid for your safety!
Learned from a Lawyer channel it very much depends on where you live. Some countries actually have a legal requirement that if you see someone who needs help, you have to help them. But others [like the US] while it's frowned upon to ignore someone who might need help, it is not legally binding that you assist.
@@Crow_Smith the only down side to that is I know police officers in most places don't legally have to help you either, which boggles my mind. Though on the flip side many places have good Samaritan laws and if you choose to help someone you won't get in any legal ramifications(unless your getting in the way). Though both of those differ from state to state I believe, so I'd try to learn what the laws are regarding that.
I agree. If the area is unsafe, you can't help anyone if you end up hurt as well. You're likely to do more harm then good if it's a dangerous situation so unless you can guarantee your own safety before you help, call authorities, stay away and observe.
one interesting thing to note: In the final regards of the tape, it states that, if you are accepted, you will receive a letter on the month of April, and that if you receive it prior to april, to regard it as a threat. Before that, in the "false" ending, it states the letter will arrive on the month of March, which is the month before april.

Refusal to cooperate is NOT a crime, even more so if you don't have first aid training. You can easily make things worse or put yourself in danger (especially when blood is involved). Calling for emergency services is often the best thing to do.
The 911 operator (or whatever they're called) was probably an alternate or whatever. Since the end of the exam warns against contacting police we know the things have infiltrated emergency services.

Mark isn't getting the perfect ending cause he isn't following the basic Mandela Catalogue rules: trust no one because doppelganger alternates look like normal people, and say nothing about yourself to avoid revealing your fears.

(i hope type 2 is the "saint" that whispers and was shown in the cartoon parts of mandela catalogue)
I love how, no matter what horror game Mark is playing, TH-cam always identifies it as FNAF. Mark is FNAF Man and the TH-cam algorithm will not take him otherwise
My goodness, I almost died inside. While watching the bit about the "trust vs threat", one of my dogs got impatient (I feed them after breakfast) and moved her bowl. I think, if one MUST use text to speech for analogue horror stuff, it'd be really cool if more period accurate voice synths were used. Like the original Macintalk or the Amiga's text to speech voice, or even S.A.M. like in the FAITH trilogy. I think that kind of detail in these sort of "answer these questions/do this thing on this computer" scenarios like in this game would definitely up the immersion in my book.

Marks constant mention of scars actually brings attention to a really good point about analog horror and just horror in general-the fact that people with scars or deformities or disabilities ARE constantly demonized. Horror media does use the appearance of real life people to portray a feeling of unsettlement or terror to the audience. In fact, horror media relies on the images of disabled people so much that you can't remove that from the horror genre without uprooting almost the entire genre with few exceptions. This isn't me saying "oh we need to cancel the horror genre as a whole" (???) Or whatever but just a fact to be conscious of when you interact with horror.
I completely agree with that! I tried to subvert that a bit by making people with no visible deformity or anything like that threats as well to make it so there's no accurate way of telling with certainty whether someone is to be trusted or not, but maybe I should've put some more thought into because this same thing you're bringing up has been bothering me ever since I posted the game.
I don’t even think it’s so much a disability thing, as more of a thing where something looks so wrong that it couldn’t be human. Like unnaturally large eyes or mouths, twisted faces, things that can’t exist in reality. You get me?
@@knight974 Yes, but the op wrote "good point about analog horror and just horror in general". You look at every monster/enemy that appears in any horror game or horror movie, and you see they have scars or missing body parts and they are deemed evil. They were meaning ALL horror in general.

That cop/operator/dispatcher was 100% an alternate with the way he was trying to coerce that guy to go help the kid.

@@GigaChad-bx5zr Afraid not.
I like this game because it feels like a test set up by alternates (Mandela catalog TM) to better hone their appearances, especially the section with the child slowly shifting to become “normal”
ok this sounds very intresting
Hmm interesting theory
to add to this, after the dore park bit, the first photo of the kid is off by a mile but slowly gets more normal.
It'd be amusing if the lore for this "Test" is teaching the Alternates which faces are giving them away.
i think this is one of the 'theories' that makes the most sense honestly. the primary thing alternates are trying to figure out/do is how to fit into society and trick the normal person into thinking they're one of them for whatever reason tbh
@@ev9757 yeah, also i find the "you will join our expanding family" thing with their faces blacked out extremely suspicious, like they're gathering information on what to do and what not to do.
yes i’m an alternate this really helped ❤️❤️
@@ev9757 yeah people look at me weird when i get a feature wrong, i don’t hang around humans often :/
i think this also explains the police dispatcher, who I'm pretty sure was an alternate.
No
@@Quatro921 Now explain why
@@Vase94 a lot of times non gameplay sections are what hold a lot of the changes in certain routes. If devs want to add that that means that they can’t put anything inportant in those sections because they just let the players skip through it
@@Quatro921 I think that the kind of way that they are saying is to allow players who have seen one scene to skip that scene if it ever shows up again. That way, if there is a change in the scene, you cannot skip and will have to watch though it at least once to do so.
@@hmmmm4014 fair enough
About the dispatcher and the night shift worker, if you look at the other Mandela Catalogue videos, there's a running theme, or at least some scenes where if someone calls to report alternate things, the dispatcher is just supposed to do nothing and distract them till the alternate get to em. I don't remember which video exactly, but it's one of them.
There is no safety. The law enforcement is trained to let the callers die. The Mandela Catalogue universe is brutal
The dispatcher was probably trying to get him to go outside so that the call could end quicker
Law enforcement are alternates.
@@LordVader1094 that to. They are trained to let the mandela effect hapoen
The government knows that alternates are too dangerous to be stopped. Trying to intervene will just get more people killed.
Also, the scene you're talking about is in "The Mandela Catalogue - Vol. 1" where the police training video says:
"If a caller reports an alternate encounter, do not help them.
Calmly reassure the caller that help is on the way.
When the caller stops answering your questions, you can hang up the call.
Do not talk too much.
You may reveal your fear."
I may have missed a sentence or two, but that's what I remember of it.
As far as I know, the law enforcement are just supposed to let the callers die because they might accidentally reveal their 'fear' to the alternates, the tv kidnapper, and/or the fake god (the devil). Doing so will get them killed.

FACTS.
upon taking the test and answering all the trust/threat questions incorrectly (trusting alternates, viewing humans as threats) i found a new ending. the robotic narrator read out the part of little red riding hood where she approaches her grandmother's bed and remarks on how strange she looks. the story cuts off and the image (of the park) turns upside down, the narrator's voice deepening, after she remarks on what a large, terrible mouth her grandmother has. after, the text on the screen goes on in the same style as other endings, this time apologizing to Avram, and referencing, capitalized, Him. i know the mandela catalogue is rooted in christian stories, so maybe someone with more biblical knowledge could decipher the endings.
edited because i found out his name was Avram, not Akram.

Akram would be Abraham, I think. The person who the diazepam prescription was for
in like 2024 let's say mandela catalogue is complete, and now we just need to solve it, what would we come to? would it be certain it's the devil and not god? is there 2 gods? is there only ONE god but is actually an eldritch horror entity that destroys entire universes and makes any living thing suffer for eternity? or the first one and the devil DEFEATED god in a way, so now everything is doomed?
oh that's too cool!!!

Heard that's actually the one ending mark didn't get! I love ur theory btw.

It’s interesting that the first time you finish it says the letter will arrive in March before it glitches out and it switches later to April the second time around. Maybe the part about the letter arriving “sooner than this date” is a reference to this inconsistency

It's because when you see the missing people, you can see that some of the people that are missing are in the trust and threat test.
Even with popular movies like Friday the 13th and Texas chainsaw massacre
@@DieFluchendeHexe i dont think theyre deemed evil per se, i think its more of they're deemed scary because missing limbs or sometimes scars are typically associated with traumatic events, which makes them scary. For example, losing your limb in war or having to be amputated is taking away a physical part of you that you can't really get back (besides prosthetics, but that's not my point).
