To "create evil" may offend our sensibilities, but to "make space for privation" must not. Every moment of silence, every time between meals, every break between rainy days is vital. Otherwise we say too much, we're gluttons, and we're flooded. It was something I only realized just one year ago while thinking about the connection between the Hebrew words borei/bara -creator/create and be'er - a well bowr - "the pit" in the Psalms (30;3) Can give a bit of insight into the subtleties of creation ex nihilo: In the beginning by creating the heavens and the earth, God is first and foremost making space that in the very next verse is filled with deep waters and underneath His Spirit. Only then is the first word of creation, to bring forth light.
The same people that say God created everything then say about this verse that he didn't create evil, just calamity. That comes across as a rationalization to soften the verse. The best exposition I've read about this verse comes from a book called Jewish meditation by Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan. He states than when you understand that God creates evil then evil no longer have a hold over you.
God is Love, Goodness, Truth & Beauty, itself. Evil is an absence of God resulting in hatred, falsity and corruption. Darkness did not need to be created as it is just an absence of light.
Yet God says right there I AM THE DOER (CREATOR) OF THESE THINGS. God says in his own words. I create Darkness and Light. I don't understand your argument
Also, if you read the rest of the chapter, you'd see he is making a promise to Cyrus (a king who helped the Jews, God's chosen people) to stand by him and protect him. In context, in him bringing peace it creates calamity (or trouble, or disaster, bad times) among the people, dividing good and evil, kind of like when Jesus talks about families dividing when someone chooses to follow him (Matthew 10, Jesus did not separate that family, but when someone chose to follow God/Jesus, the family was divided)

Matthew, you say God would allow evil because it has to do with judgment. However, that doesn't explain evil or pain and suffering in the animal world?
God created man in his own image. Only humans are spiritual beings and they have spirit as their identity. Animals, plants, things and this world itself are just the creation of God for Mankind.
@@RealmeNarzo-yj1zi Well, if that is the case, couldn't a "good" God who is "omnipotent" create animals that would feel no pain while they are being torn apart and devoured by a predator, as he did for the plants?

The irony is that atheists consider humans as a collection of biological tissues caused by cosmological accidents and consider plants, animals to be great saintly souls to be taken care of. Just reverse world order.
@@Philip__325 While plants are living organisms, they lack a centralized nervous system and brain-like structures that are typically associated with consciousness and pain perception in animals. Plants do exhibit various complex behaviors and responses to their environment. They can sense and respond to light, gravity, touch, and chemical signals. For example, they can grow towards light sources and extend their roots towards sources of water. These responses are often mediated by intricate signaling networks within the plant, but they differ significantly from the way animals perceive and respond to stimuli. Plants also possess defense mechanisms to protect themselves from potential harm, such as releasing chemicals or producing physical barriers. However, these responses are generally considered to be automatic and not indicative of conscious experience or subjective awareness. The scientific consensus currently does not support the notion that plants possess consciousness or the ability to feel pain in the same way that animals do. The capacity for subjective experience and conscious awareness is primarily associated with animals that have more complex nervous systems.
