    The most significant differences are not in the way the books of the Tanakh and the Old Testament were order, but in the changes made to the scriptures (whether intentional or unintentional) from the Tanakh to the Old Testament. There are quite a few of these changes and they really do make a big difference between Jewish and Christian theology.

      The torah is the 5 books of moses genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. The old testament of christians has extra books that the jewish people do not recognize. They only acknowledge the prophets. The books not in the Torah are in otger books there are 3 books in the Jewish bible. They read the books in a different order. The Torah is considered the first and original holy book. Abraham is the christians moses where moses is the jewish Abraham

      @@kckillakrack9714 that's not true. Christians accepted and recognized the 39 books of the Holy Hebrew Bible as the original canon of the Tanakh (Old Testament). Some translations like Septuagint (LXX) have 10 books more but these books are marked as "Deuterocanonical". Well studied Christians knows for sure that these books are not God breathed. They are there only because of the translators work. Born again believers have Bibles like King James Version (KJV) with the standard 39 books of the hebrew canon of the Tanakh and the 27 books of the New Testament, all of them (66) are God breathed.

    The Septuagint was translated by Jewish scholars into the dominate language of the day, which was Greek, around 300 BCE. In 600 AD Jewish scholars began the translation and compilation of the Masoretic text which was ultimately codified around 1000. The Septuagint was a fully Jewish translation.

    I don't know if talked in another video:
    - before the Jews compiled their bible, the Tanakh (centuries after Christ);
    - there was a Jewish Bible written in Greek(yes, before Israel had a bible in Hebrew or Aramaic. They hadn't compiled in a specific order), in Egypt in the Ptolemaic era. It was called the SEPTUAGINT;
    - The Septuagint was ordered in Greek so the Jews that were living in Egypt and couldn't speak Hebrew;
    - was written by 72 Jewish Scholars, divide by groups of 12. They compared all the translations and ended up with one fully organized "old testament bible" in Greek;
    - the Septuagint is the Old Testament that the first Christians had in possession to study and to make the first Christian Bible;
    To end i have to point:
    - the the Jewish bible Tanakh (the one compiled centuries after Christ) leaves some books from the Septuagint (greek speeking jewish in Egypt done centuries BC) out, called the Deuterocanonical Books.
    - the Protestants left those same books out centuries after, when they decide to separate from the Catholic Church.
    I think the video ended up confusing. It would be better if he started to name:
    - Septuagint VS Old Testament VS Tanakh

Were the ancient Pharisees and Sadducees also from Kenya? 5. Where is the Golgotha hill in kenya? 6. Where is the Garden of Gethsemane in Kenya? 7. Where are the ancient Roman ruins in Kenya? If kenya is ancient Israel the Kenyans killed their own Messiah!!! 8. Where is the ancient burial tomb of Yashuah the Messiah situated? When did the Romans rule in kenya (biblical Judeah)? Since every Jew is taught to read Hebrew since ancient days up to today why would they need the Tanach translated into Greek? There is only one authentic Hebrew Tanach and it is written in Hebrew. It was probably translated into Greek for Greek scholars to study and they more than likely tampered with it the same as the Church.

      Are you ignoring history here? The Apocrypha was not made canon until the Council of Trent in the 16th century. Also, Jerome did not consider them part of the canon of scriptures as the Jews didn't. He only gave in to the pressure to include them. So there was no mistake "to learn from".

      Anyone who isn't looking for a fight would understand he was saying it was one subjective element of his thinking. In short limited comments like this you don't expect people to give full nuanced defense of their entire worldview. Be a little more gracious and not so quick to misjudge, easily done in short discourse.
      Plus, I could add, what he shared is not isolated. I've studied church history from a wide variety of traditions, and there are many learned well read people over the last 2000 years who would say the same thing. For a Holy Spirit filled believer to read the canonical scriptures sends a confirming Amen through your veins. While reading the apocryphal books is slogging through unappealing history. I realize that's a subjective judgement, but for many of us it only comes after many objective factual, historical, and theological judgements came first. @@el-sig2249

      @@doxholiday1372 the only meaning relevant is spiritual and that comes from the creator not the men who physically wrote the books nor the men who arranged them.

    • @doxholiday1372
      @doxholiday1372 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @James Sanchez You're misunderstanding.
      When it comes to the Bible the Creator's meaning and the authors' meaning are one and the same - that's what inspiration of the scriptures means. According to the bible the words of the bible ARE spiritual. ALL of them. And they're not supposed to be interpreted based on personal beliefs or experience.
      You're also misunderstanding the biblical concept of Spiritual. According to the bible spiritual doesn't mean cut off from life on earth or ethereal - Even God's Laws (The commandments, statutes, judgments, etc) are referred to as spiritual. (Read Psalms 119)
      Fortunately the instructions for reading and understanding the Bible are contained within the Bible.
      "But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of man's will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." -2 Peter 1:20-21
      "...The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." -John 6:63b
      The Creator inspired the words of the authors to deliver the exact message he wants readers to understand. Which is impossible to do unless you understand what they meant. Had he wanted modern day westerners to interpret his words based on their own worldview he would have inspired modern day westerners to write scripture.
      Now, obviously everyone has to APPLY what they learn to themselves in the here and now, but that's entirely different than interpreting what the words mean based on their personal circumstances and worldview. Hence the injunction against private interpretations, ie interpreting the scriptures according to one's own views. The bible interprets the bible. It provides its own keys to understanding it.
      "Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
      For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:" -Isa 28:9-19
      Understanding what the scriptures say requires knowledge of the rest of the scriptures. They all work together and can't be fully understood apart from the whole.
      Precept upon precept, precept upon precept,. Line upon line, line upon line. Here a little and there a little.
      "And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
      that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
      However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
      But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,
      which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
      But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
      But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
      For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
      Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
      These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual." -1Corinth 2:4-13
      "But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
      and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
      All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
      that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." -2Tim 3:14-17
      "Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you." -Prov 1:23
      "As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever." -Isa 59:21
      "Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts." -Zec 7:12
      "And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:" -1Corinth 2:4

    If the Exodus occurred about 968 years before the time of Esther and if the book of Esther is the first time (chronologically) that the exiles from the southern kingdom of Judah are called “Jews” in the Bible, is it appropriate to refer to the Pentateuch as “the Jewish Bible”? Moses wasn’t even a “Jew” in the sense of being of the tribe of Judah. He was of the tribe of Levi.
    If the old covenant (aka old testament) is a covenant based on what we do (illustrated by the promise, “all the LORD hath said we will do” - Exodus 19:8 & 24:7), if the new covenant (aka new testament) is a covenant based on what the Lord has done and what he has promised (beginning with the protoevangelium - Genesis 3:15), if the new covenant is older than the old covenant, if the old covenant is called old and the new covenant is called new because the old covenant was ratified with the blood of animals at Sinai BEFORE the new covenant was ratified with the blood of Jesus on Calvary, is it appropriate to refer to the parts of the Bible written in Hebrew as “the Old Testament” and the parts written in Greek as “the New Testament”?
    The answer, of course, is that people prefer their traditions to any reasonable analysis of either history or scripture.
    On the other hand, if one of the complaints against Christians by non-Christians is that Christians are unreasonable, would the replacement of some of those traditions be helpful in mitigating that accusation?

Maybe because it was memorised from day one and recited daily in prayer (often multiple complete recitations of the entire Quran each year). Today have many millions of people who have memorised the entire Quran. There is an extremely strong tradition to recite the Quran with absolute precision with people following in prayer ready to correct the most minor of errors. Just so much more simple. The oral tradition tradition has meant it has remained protected over the 1.4 millenia.

    The Hebrew Bible ends with the book of Chronicles, Cyrus's edict in 539 BCE, allowing the Jews to return to Judea and rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem. The last verse reads: ““This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: “‘The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. Anyone of his people among you-may the LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.” of course this won’t do for Christians who did not consider king Darius to be the anointed one. The Christian Old Testament ends with the book of Malachi where we read: “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.” The first gospel technically was the gospel of Mark, although it’s positioned after Matthew. This, of course, leads smoothly into the New Testament, when John the Baptist (Elijah redivivus) introduces the true Messiah, and the day of the Lord.

Feast of tabernacle Left Out the fact that no chapters or verses numbers are in the Torah. Plus 1st Samuel 2,d Samuel. 1st kings 2d kings. IST and second chronicles were treated as one book! 1st Samuel 2d Samuel became 1st kings 2d kings 3d kings. 4th kings 5 kings 6 Kings became chronicles. Remember also the kings and Samuel were written in men's idea while chronicles were the thoughts reasons of God VIEWS. Not man! Plus in the time of MOSSES and aberham even up to the third and fourth century there were no books like we have today+! They were Scholl' s when One Scholl' ended the next Scholl' became another book and when the septutios Greek it took more space. That's why we have 1 st Samuel and 2 d Samuel. 1st 2d kings ETC or that what I learned from my study of the word most interesting was is the fact that Jesus was teaching more to the biblical schoolers of his day they would. Ask Jesus questions about law or Sacrifice or something they knew should have Jesus mostly replied HAVEN'T YOU READ! OF COURSE THAT WAS A SETUP FROM THE. LEADERS OF THE TEMPLE OR SYNAGOGUE. TO ENTRAP JESUS SO THEY COULD KILL HIM OR THE ROMANS DO IT FOR THEM BECAUSE THE ROMANS HAD CIVIL AUTHORITY IN JERUSALEM!

    Your looking at the bible as devine. I am looking at it from a politic perspective. You should always look at who wrote it when it was written and what political influence it had. Because the only reason for writing it is for the audience. And who was the audience and why did they need to hear it. If you understand religion as a measure of control, then you will see what the Bible was for whom is was written. In addition, if you're going to study the Torah, the profits and the writings, you have to look at the history of the writings. What changed in its history. For instance, the words El versus the words Elohim. If you're just going to study the current versions of each, then you lose the message all together. The oldest versions are the most accurate versions. Today's Bible is a political exercise
