Alchemical Familiar was the legacy version of homunculus bit didn't give as much detailed stats. It did however have the detail about the familiar being constructed with some of the master's blood.
Item delivery is a godsend. I had many situations where after creating an alchemical item, I don't have the two actions needed to deliver it to an ally. Having the familiar help with that for 1 action makes a ranged consumable creator character much easier to play. Love it. Thanks for sharing these new.
Dude, I LOVE this system. My complaints about a few changes notwithstanding, I love it. And I see no reason to stop loving it. I've also thought more about the Oracle and while I still dislike some of the changes, I'm thinking about releasing an update for that video stating my current, more balanced stance.
My mind space maintains the two paths of Dungeon & Dragons and Advanced Dungeon & Dragons to today. WotC maintains the spiritual successor to the Basic D&D line. Though 3.0/3.5 is more complex than 2e, the editions after are simpler than its previous editing. PathFinder shepards the successor for AD&D. · P¹ double down on the complexity of 3.5. · P² (though less complex) continues to "feel" right as the current 21st Century edition of AD&D.
Oh hell fuck yeah. I have to rewrite so much of Edmond. But I'm going to do my damndest to give him this. I may end up taking away Hammy's ability to attack for this. I don't think you'll need to redo your Alchemy though because you don't have Advanced Alchemy so the level of product you can create hasn't changed. His has.
Oh hell yeah. That's a freakin' great idea. I just created a spell and a feat to allow a Patron of mine to have multiple familiars. This should be written in an official book somewhere.
Damnit does it feel good to of pointed out Item Delivery. Good video Jake and thank you from the bottom of my heart for trying to spread proper rules. So many people do the familiars wrong (mostly becuase of how clunky the class was but mostly due to a lack of reading) and the reason the familiars cannot activate is because the book nowhere says they can. This is confirmed by Mark Seifter (co-creator) himself 2 years ago on the How It's Played's video: "Ask a Pazio Designer #3" for those wanting to source-find. "Why do we need Item Delivery? We can already administer potions via Manual Dexterity!" NOPE! Oh' and Homunculus is an awesome specific familiar. The Command when the master goes down is a common homebrewed idea and I love the idea of when they are destroyed doing damage to the master.
My pleasure and yes I'm glad that you and I are both working on spreading proper knowledge of rules. I too have watched many a rules video (with and without Mark) to ferret out the details that I need for my videos. It's a bit too much work, really. Seems unnecessary.
I mean even if it's not said it might be implied in manual dexterity... LIke a lot of things aren't said like what maneuver in flight allows you to do exactly? Honestly i just think the new ability makes delivering items more action efficient since before you would've needed 3 familiar actions to do the same thing.
@@MrNegetZ and it also allows a familiar to use a potion on an ally or use another similar item on an ally. Which is amazing. Because manual dexterity does not allow familiars to activate an item which is what using a potion or elixir on an ally is considered.
@@WisdomCheck So i checked, the rule is in companion items where it says companions(including familars) can't activate items. So i guess they can't RAW but it doesn't make sense. If your familiar basically gains hands with manual dexterity it should be able to feed potions and elixirs and apply oils since it's what you drink or what's on that has an effect. Basically manual dexterity allows your familiar to feed you water but they physically can't feed you a potion? They should deffinitely add a line to manual dexterity for that IMO.
@@MrNegetZ Sure I agree. I'm totally on board with this. That would be a great addition. One thing I suck at is balancing games. So I try to stick to the rules as they are and go crazy on bigger stuff. Otherwise I simply forget the small changes I've made with House Rules. You want to ride a dragon? Sure - totally fine. You want plus two instead of plus one on something? Hell no. Because I will forget every time.
My Spore Order Druid will have a Fungus Leshy named Squeeps (the only word it can speak) that will be running around pouring potions into peoples mouths
"Squeeps!" Hi Squeeps, what are you doing over here? "Squeeps!" No thank you, I don't need any healing right now. "Squeeps!" No! Get that out of my face! What are you shoving in my mffgh?! "Squeeps!" "Squeeps!" "Squeeps!" Fucking... creepy.
The mechanics looknice but man it sucks being gatelept behind 6.abilities. Back in 1e toyou could just have a tumor familiar and that was that. Open to tons of flavor. Yet another W for the 1e alchemist.
I used the Familiar Abilities called Lab Assistant a lot, and I noticed that it wasn't reprinted here either. I'm wondering if they decided to remove it from the game or maybe they just forgot...
I don't think anything has been said about removing it and we're supposed to be able to use everything from pre-remaster so yeah! I'd say you're good to just keep using it and that they see no reason to update it. Looking at it closely, the terms it uses were carried over directly from pre-remaster (Quick Alchemy) so there'd be no reason to update it. Play on!
@@WisdomCheck Hi Jake. You are now my favorite PF2 youtuber, appreciate your dedication a lot. About Lab Assistant and Quick Alchemy - what real options does it give to familiar? It could create temporary potions from VV and VV bombs? What could it do with VV bombs - throw it, drop it, give it to somebody?
I'm grateful to hear that. I appreciate you being here. :) Yeah I see your point. Either your familiar takes 1 action on their own because they have Independent or you use an action to give them 2 actions; they could spend 1 action using Quick Alchemy with Independent and... you have to spend an action to get it from them. Or you could spend 1 action to give the Familiar 2 actions and it could use Quick Alchemy and ...hand you an elixir? That's a little silly. They could use 2 actions from you to Create a Bomb and ...not throw it because they can't make attacks. Hand it to you? They could use 2 actions from you to Create an Elixir and ...hand it to someone in the square next to you? They could use 2 actions from you to Create a Mutagen and ...drop it? Wow actually this is bugging me. I'm a bit stumped.
