...Also, I just noticed something about the Bloodrager... there is nothing in Harvest Blood's requirements that say the creature has to be an ENEMY...
Also, also, they buffed Energy Ward in the Remaster (what you looked at was the legacy version): Now, you gain resistance to AN energy type (it does not say it has to be the same as the spell cast) equal to 4 + the spell's rank.

Since the spell gained by Spelldrinker can be used later in the day (it doesn’t have to be cast in the same fight), it can be used against different types of enemies in a different combat later in the day.
lit last 24 hours or you next prepare spells so you use the lighting damage from the dragon to kill the giant in the next room.
With the right party composition, you can use it on an ally to set up for a future fight
More blood magic sounds cool, I always like to learn something new. I also like your take on the archetype, there were things I hadn't considered and made sense.

Archfiend! you could technically make your Realm candyland or someting incredible like that choosing poison due to sugar, fire for molten caramel, Acid for sour candy, ice for ice cream or electricity because why not? Fiendish Candy!

Energy Ward has been revised in remaster, you can choose the energy type regardless of the energy type of the spell

The use of the drained mechanic as a power source is pretty cool, I wanted to do something similar for a death knight-ish class where you are not undead but you draw on your constitution to fuel necromancy spells, but this is a much better implementation than what I came up with. I kinda want to try this class archetype just to see if tracking your hitpoints with your drained condition constantly changing is doable or too much of a headache.
Depending on Death Knight we're talking of, being undead (or at least in some inbetween state, not quite undead not quite alive) might be needed. Though between dhampir and few rare backgrounds it's pretty easy to do.
@@The_Yukki Yeah, it would also make you gain undead traits like negative healing. but I just couldn't get to a point where it was fun to use the mechanic, and making an unfun mechanic is just silly. So I gave up on making it an entire class with new mechanics, and was waiting for the remastered champion to come out to make a cause that turned you undead, but struggled to work out how to do that too. So currently I am thinking that the best way to do it might be a level 12 undead archetype, basically a martial counterpart to the lich. I wouldn't call it death knight though, cause like lich, you would spending significant effort becoming undead on purpose, whereas generally in fantasy fiction death knights are involuntary undead.

The way they built 2e Bloodrager is really neat and strong. I'm just not a fan of how little it pays homage to the original Barbarian + Sorcerer idea. You feel less like an out-of-control warlock who use their boiling blood to their advantage and more like a weird spell vampire that poaches off of everything. I understand Slayer and Inquisitor had some fluff changes too with Avenger and Vindicator, but they do feel more homogenous to their 1e selves compared to Bloodrager. They don't even get Bounded Spellslots ala Magus!
It feels like they really wanted to justify the name over coherent spell design, especially with how it's not really a Barbarian either.

"Spells in your repertoire gain the rage trait WHILE YOU ARE RAGING" Yes! Finally, someone at Paizo got enlightened and added these crucial words, the lack thereof so often screws builds up instead of making them stronger. Why can't this be the default for all abilities with the trait, dare I say, bake it in the trait itself? Pretty please?
18:45 Yeah, I don't like that feat either, for a similar reason I don't like oscilating wave psychic. It's "ok" most of the time, but if you run into a creature tied to the element, you'll be useless 50% of the time. Fire creatures are immune to fire damage and might take good cold and vice versa. But you have to keep switching...
Now, imagine squeezing magus (free) archetype in this build. Aside the fact that it's gonna be super MAD, them spellstrikes are gonna be sooo juicy and bloody!

@@marianpetera8436 but the Magus is already STARVED for actions. Still... it would be awesome.
@@americannerdinnz I was thinking more along the lines of spellstriking with the blood spells. Archetype magus can use Spellstrike only once per minute (usually once per combat) anyway, so it would be just for a big. Spellstrike includes the Cast a Spell action / activity, so the spell should get bloodrager bonuses as well as regular rage damage for the physical portion, making it a super beefy attack.
@@marianpetera8436 I forgot about the once-per-combat-Spellstrike for the archetype. Yes! My goodness that would be a shot. Gotta use your first action that round for True Strike (I forgot the remaster name) because a crit on that could 1-shot a boss!

Siphon magic with a Divine Bloodrager is broken. Keep a needle with you. After the battle, poke your mage friend, do 1 damage, get a heal slot back. Is this not a problem? It feels like a problem.
