Nice review. Not too many reviews out there for this laptop even after month after release. Planning to buy one from BHPhotovideo with 4060 at $1200.
G14 with exact same config from BB (nebula display) is a good deal as well ($1600) however out of my budget.

AMD 7940HS' single core score of 1804 is very close to Intel 13700H. Not direct competitors but there it is with better thermals and power efficiency.

Suprisingly not much though, a node change should’ve done more.
While a 13700H may require more wattage to match the 7940HS, it gets around just 7% lower performance at the same wattage going by the 12700H’s performance at 80 watts in JarrodTech’s testing.

This is a great generation of this laptop. Had a Ryzen 7 7735HS and RTX 4060 8GB variant which was amazing package. I had to return it because I use mainly laptop connected to external screen and Asus unfortunately, when lid was closed got hot as hell. An alright review mate.
But, come man, this laptop is nowhere near the definition of ''budget''. Even the display, by the virtue of being matte, is not that color accurate since matte distorts colors more than oled/glossy. Something the gigabyte aero 16x has for $1400, that too with a rtx 3070ti 100w and i7 12700h and a 4k OLED. So for real content creators, thats the laptop they'd likely pick up.
So this asus laptop costs more than rtx 3060 laptops, yet doesn't really beat them by any significant margin. Even assuming sales are a thing, how much will it drop by? $500? Thats still $900 for this which is what its starting price should've been from the start.
If you gotta buy a laptop, avoid the rtx 4000 series like the plague. Not worth it all right now.
As for the rx7600s, its another disappointment from AMD. Notebookcheck has benchmarks of it, and its barely faster than the rtx 3060. Hubwood also posted comparisons and its literally no faster than the rtx 3060. Infact, $1100 should've had the rx7600mxt, but of course, techtubers and people who buy these, will be perfectly fine with last gen performance, for last gen prices. Thats how nvidia and AMD will get away scamming people yet again. Just like AMD selling you zen 2 quad core CPU's as ryzen 5's.

Its 1300$, the 4060 with 7940 is 1400$, 7735 with RTX 4060 is 1300$, 7735 with 4050 is 1200$. I only say "budget" because it's the cheapest line ASUS offers. I still don't think pricing is that much worse this year. For example, the 2022 A15 With 6800H and 3050TI is currently 1080$ at Newegg and 1060$ at best buy, It also only has a 512GB SSD and 8GB Ram. The 2023 A15 with 7735, RTX 4050, 16GB Ram, and 1tb SSD. So, for 120$ you get an extra 8gb ram, extra 500gb storage, and a significantly better graphics card.

Yes the 4070 is very disappointing with 8gb of VRAM, the 4060 is only slightly disappointing (IMO), but saying that repeatedly at a certain point is like a broken record, especially since the 4050 is actually a very healthy jump over the 3050ti. Of course, your better of right now buying a RTX 3070ti/12700H combo on sale than most 4050/4060 laptops right now but that won't be relevant forever and is repetive to say in every review.

@@grumblez And the 2022 nitro 5 with a rtx rtx 3050 and i5 12500h is $750. $600 less than the price of this asus laptop.
Infact, there is a Hasee i7 11800h + 3060 laptop for $900 right now. With 16gb ram and 500gb nvme.
And this asus laptop costs more than the katana 15 and gigabyte g5 with rtx 4060's at $1100.
If you use poor value laptops to compare this asus laptop to, its gonna look ''good''. But against any sensible laptop choice its crap.
Maybe in the US, where prices are the lowest, its not ''much worse'' but even that is a poor defense considering how we're getting below the minimum amount of vram needed to comfortably max out games at 1080p with the so called midrange rtx 4060 while its barely faster than the rtx 3060. I'm sorry but we're getting significantly worse pricing this year because a lot of laptops will still use zen 3 and 12th gen cpu's as intel and AMD don't offer the latest versions at this price anymore.

      Just for fun:
      3060 to 4070 = 35% to 40% boost. Vram is increased by 2gb. Price hike of 50%.
So tell me. I've laid out the facts. Lets ignore the price for a moment. You tell me, how is the ''rtx 4060'' not the worst uplift in the xx60 class range on laptops in the last 7-8 years? How is that "slightly disappointing"? You can see the rtx 4070 is the real rtx 4060 we should've gotten and it itself isn't very impressive gen over gen uplift.
And you have to sound like a broken record if you want people to demand these companies to change their way. Look at desktop space. Everyone sounds like a broken record on how these gpu's are vram starved and perf is not good. The laptop segment is even worse.

@@siyzerix I'm comparing the price to the exact same laptop with last gen hardware at the price it launched at. The point isn't whether or not it's a good deal, but to compare gen over gen price increases.
Yeah Best buy has 750$ RTX 3050ti nitro 5 but it comes with an i5, 8gb ram, 512gb SSD, and the normal not sale price is 950$. Also the Nitro weighs several hundred grams more than the A15 while supporting similar power levels.
It's a little disappointing because the difference increases if you compare 100 watt 4060 to 100 watt 3060.
Yeah the 4070 should be the 4060. If you can get a 3070ti for the same price right now or sometimes cheaper than a new 4060 laptop buy that. Idk what else you want me to say, should I do a 3 minute rant every video telling people to buy a last gen laptop on sale when they won't even really be relevant when people are watching this video 6-12+ months from now?

6gb of VRAM in the 4050 is sufficient for 95+% of games at 1080p high settings. 8gb for the 4060 is not great but acceptable, 8gb in the 4070 is truly joke.

Most of the ones I have seen release at a higher price don't just come with the newer hardware but have other upgrades like more ram, more storage, higher resolution screen, etc.
