The Perfect Run in Super Mario Galaxy 2 took me an entire summer to beat! and it also made me nearly quit the game multiple times since I kept raging after dying at the last boomerang brothers part. Beating it was the best feeling in the world for me

I actually consider the cloudy section of Darker Side one of the more relaxing parts of that level. If you're careful you can avoid triggering the laser circle things and just use Cappy to destroy those spiky things, changing position if needed, so definitely not as hard as the rest of the level.
i actually think that the sub area in dark side with the perfect jumps on the bottom floor is harder

Man, The Perfect Run haunted me for a decade. I got all the other 241 stars in like a year or so, but that last one is just pure evil. No matter how well I played, I never got further than killing two Boomerang Bros. But I knew I could pull it off if I just got some help, and a couple weeks ago I finally asked my older sister to use the Co-Star Luma. And after she joined in, it all came together. I still had to pull of some risky tactics so she could spin the Bros, though. And I think that’s a good thing, because it still feels like I earned that final Star!
Might be a decade more bro, you’re gonna need to beat the level without her help! Happy gaming, cheers!

For Champion’s Road, if you have extra Wii remotes, you can use them to have other characters join at the end to avoid having to repeat the level four more times.

Something that makes The Perfect Run even more frustrating: there is exactly one Star Bit in the entire level, right at the beginning. Assuming you don't use it to kill some enemies later on, this is intended to serve as an in-game death counter.
I think champions road is much harder I’ve done perfect run 2 as I completed galaxy 2 in a week I think champions road is harder because we can’t use the spin which in the perfect run will help massively
I tried to complete it and I give up, some days I Re-tried and I still couldn't beat it.
Then I remember one day I used the Giant Koopa 1-Up trick, farmed 99 one-ups and after two hours of pure concentration I completed SMG2 100%.
And i think that last time I died 40/47 times, without counting the other tries.
While in Super Mario 3D Land the last level give me problems, and a LOT, I think I died around 70/80 times, since I wanted to complete it with both Mario and Luigi (and because the first time I reached the end with Mario I activated the "Thank you" snail, but I was near to fall to the end endless pit of doom, so I jumped to the platform before the snail, the snails was already too far, so I waited a little bit but I realized it didn't come back so I had to re-do the whole level as Mario), so i guess TPR is more difficult since I had more difficulties to complete it with one character than W8-Crown with two characters.
I -probably- definitely suck at this two game if I died so much times.
However wow, I never thought about it this way, you are pretty smart to come up with this idea, it's like reading the thoughts of SMG2 developers, I guess you're right: the only utilize for that star bit is indeed a death counter.

I feel like Champion's Road should be harder than Special 8 Crown. I found the beat block, plant bounce, and sprint platform sections harder than anything in 8 Crown, because in 8 Crown it felt a lot easier to master each section.

I liked Tubular. Actually, World Special stood high above the rest as my favorite of Super Mario World because of the challenge. They were the most interesting ones in the game, and beating them made me feel like I had insane skills when my friends were never able to beat some of the levels.

I always thought perfect run was the hardest not based on design really just because you couldn't take any power ups from other levels like in other games, not to mention only getting 1 hit point throughout vs other games like oddesy which has a lot of health pick ups in the final level making it more forgiving

When I was young, the level in Sunshine where you have to get to the island with Yoshi to eliminate the barrier on the tunnel was hell. The poisoned water trying to ride on that leaf while collecting the red coins is something of actual nightmares.

The first time I reached to the end of that level I couldn't collect the 8 red coins (I always used to die midway), so I stupidly entered the pipe there thinking that it would take me back to the beginning of the level and retry but noooo, it took me back to delfino plaza forcing me to redo all the yoshi stuff again just to try the level again!! Damn, I hate that level!

C-3 is the easiest level to make people rage like me but I had a crazy rage

There’s this one level in super Mario 3D world where you have to beat 50 levels in like 10 seconds each, I found that insanely hard
The Pachinko level really felt like a "proof of concept" of bonus stages for Sunshine as opposed to being an actual level

Yeah what I would do in new super Mario bros deluxe is when I struggle in a level I use nabbit and I use the second character so it won’t be purple, clever guys huh?
What I did was I got 2 controllers, let luigi die and let nabbit run and get all 3 star coins, then I let luigi touch the flagpole.
I remember beating the Perfect Run back during the summer of 2010. It was right after I graduated college and job searching was still kind of difficult post-recession, so I had a ton of time on my hands.
It definitely took me a few tries to beat The Perfect Run, but with the help of my brother, we pulled it off! And you were right when you said; “When you do beat the level, it is oh so satisfying.” I could not believe we got through the obnoxious level. It took so much pressure off me

My brother and I played the perfect run and after countless tries we got to Rosalina, but before we got the star we wanted to see if there was a secret underneath the little platform... to our surprise we fell off and had to do the whole thing again

The 100 purple coins you have to collect in under a minute on the boo galaxy in mario galaxy 1 is way more difficult than wii 9-7.
Tip for Champion’s Road!
Listen to the timing of the Beat Blocks, and time a ground pound onto the one you want to land on. You’d think it would be an instant kill from that, but ground pounding stops you in the air for a second, so good timing will drop you on the block’s flat surface. This made the level immensely easier for me when playing it as Toad with no power-ups
Ah, The Perfect Run. Never have I felt such anger towards a video game. Yes, after couple of times of playing it, it isn't that bad, but like Nathaniel said, the pressure really gets to you...Not many things in video games make me do this, but that was one of those levels where after I'm done, I just put the game away and don't play it for a couple of days.
As someone who has done the perfect run I agree. The amount of times I died on the final section was enormous.

Pachinko machine made easy: When you're launching yourself, either hold all the way left or right on the stick, or don't touch it at all. Each of these three options will guarantee you landing on a pin, from which you can then hover over to where you need to go.

The Mario world level "tubular" began my ever burning hatred for charging chuck.
Tubular is one of my favorite SMW levels.
The Perfect Run did the same thing for me and Hammer Bros. I’m totally convinced that those particular Bros have twice the range.

For the nsmbw one, I stood above the second plant, then fireballed the first one. When the ice above the coin was melted, I tossed some more fire towards the star coin, only melting two or three block above it to keep moving in one direction, then ran and ducked the last plants. That made it easy, but the third one was still scary

i like how he goes from a level from the lost levels with weird controls, bad graphics and bad design and really frustrating to a level from mario galaxy 2 which is harder but with much better controls, good level design and really fun to play

I got super light headed when I beat the perfect run from concentrating so hard
i just beat The Perfect Run for the first time. i started with 80 lives... and ended with 11. but i also grabbed the 1up in the cloud section a bunch of times
The Perfect run for me was difficult, but it didn’t take me that many tries to beat it. Last time I played this game I was like 8 or 9 years old. Idk how I managed to do it with such a small brain, but that’s all I can remember.

I remember trying like a million times to beat “The Perfect Run” and never have I felt so satisfied in my life when I got the final star in the game

At the end of the Perfect Run in Mario galaxy 2, you can actually skip the hammer bros specifically, and only take out the ones throwing boomerangs, and the warp star to Rosalina will still show up.

The pachinko level in Sunshine, I shed so many tears over that game from frustration.
In the darker side, when you get to that flying bit after the obstacle course, fly, hit the first whirlwind, and shake nonstop. You will then skip it all!
