"You can press B to jump!" for most games, but in NSBU at 10:27 you eliminated it because A was still a jump button.... but BOTH control schemes had a 'backup' jump button. The default controlls have X for jump, and the secondary controls have B for jump. Why was NSBU eliminated? You should have been able to complete the entire game only pressing X/B for jump. The GBA versions of Yoshi's Island all use R to throw eggs, but A becomes jump.... except on the Wii U Virtual Console, where you can, just like NSBU, use either A or X to jump. I 100% believe that more games should have made it through, because many of them let you use alternatives to the A button.

SM64 no A-press is only beatable on the Wii Virtual Console edition by using **a glitch** caused by the emulator. Using emulation isn't against the rules, but using emulation *for the sole reason of abusing a glitch that's caused by the emulator* obviously isn't within the rules.
If I remember correctly, NSMBU is actually possible in the original, not the remake, because the WiiU remote uses 1 and 2 to run and jump. Justice for New Soup U

Lots of people mentioning that you could use sideways Wii remotes in NSMBU and 3D World, but to add onto that... The optimal way to play NSMBWii is with a Wii Remote + Nunchuck, which makes A the primary button. So since NSMBWii has a control method that includes A, then NSMBU & 3D World inlcuding a method that includes 2 instead should be recognized.

You can get into bob-omb battlefield in SM64 without the A button with a dive recover. As a matter of fact, on the wii virtual console version of the game, you can beat the entire game without pressing A. On any other version you need to press A once in Bowser 2.

I know I’m late, but I just wanna say that New Soup U can be played on the Wii U with a regular wiimote, and can thus be completed without pressing A. Furthermore, where 3D land has the letter “A” appear 40 seconds in (when Mario reads Bowser’s letter), New Soup U lasts a whole 1 minute and 40 seconds before the “A” in “Acorn Plains” appears, making it the actual champion.
In NSMB Wii, A also helps you go in a bubble, but only for multiplayer. The idea behind this mechanic is that when another player dies, they get in a bubble, where they can't be harmed, but another player must pop it. If all players go in a bubble, die, or both, you return to the map. My brother and I would abuse this mechanic by just having one of us go somewhere, and the other would go in a bubble.
I loved that not only was this Video about not pressing A the entire time throughout every mainline Super Mario game, but also how long could the player view a Mario game without looking at the letter "a", which definitely helped spice things up!
