Hi love your videos and the work you do been out today calibrating my 4k Lrf with the new update and to be honest my only gripe like yourself is the zoom option keep the videos coming mines on a T3x 223 👍🦊
Hi Bruce, I agree chum, I’ve been out for a couple of hours, just to see what my Alpex is like. No changes other than the green and sepia screens that are OK, but that bloody zoom function, jeeez, that’s a real load of work now to get to x28. By the time I’ve zoomed in and found the fox, he’s through the hedge and well into the next county. I can live with the rest, but that’s got to go
awesome mate thanks for replying the zoom is !!!!but the rest is workable really appreciate you interaction keep the videos and experiences of you antics coming love what you do 👍🦊
@bruceunderwood7414 thanks Bruce for your support, and everyone that has been involved in this . I went out last night and came back two hours later empty handed, nothing around due to the weather I guess, but I had plenty of time to use that zoom function. I love the dialogue box with the zoom size now, but Why is the main picture and the PiP the same size to start with ? First click goes to x7 👍 and then it’s clickity click over and over again 🥴 Hindi Ko Alam !!! That’s one for my family and friends in the Philippines to understand 🤭
Nice shooting there Andy on the rabbits, that air rifle is a serious tool! Thanks for the update Dave, look forward to hearing more from Hik , not that I'm personally affected, too sceptical to update anything at the moment. 👍
Great idea regarding reticle .... Loving my HIK 4k but I do know from experience regardless of manufacturer when they do go wrong they are very frustrating... Great shooting 🙏 Gary
The ballistics are not perfect as they are on any calculator as the BC on any ammunition is a starting point as it the BC changes depending on the gun it’s used in, barrel, weather that day and so on and so on
@@ChrisHaigh-i5e I use mostly .204 for foxing so it's pretty flat out with a 145 zero.....I agree with you definitely but the lrf function is a game changer for me ....
Please can you ask Hik to keep the secondary reticule as an OPTION. A reticule that moves from your zero is dangerous because you might ping the wrong target or not re-ping the new target. Operating a rifle you should know approx holdovers regardless of BC so that you can sense the BC before letting death loose (ie your bullet) Potentially dangerous or will result in wounding
Options are the key, everyone has they're own preference. Why restrict it to only one way. The Zulus gives the option, and my preference with the Zulus is secondary mark on the main picture but the pip reticle moves to the corrected position, it's all hik need to add for a winner, what loads of people have asked for but they don't seem to listen. Let's hope this little campaign brings change. We need to get Robin on board too now as he's quite high up in the world of Hik. 👍
@stephenoshea1166 I’ve spoken to Robin, but I think he’s in no man’s land and unable to comment on this. But let’s just say, I’ve called him and expressed my concerns 😉🥴🥴 I’ve also just emailed the help desk at HikMicro with a stinger, and would suggest everyone who is affected and unhappy does the same
I did the update on my 4k lrf just before I'd seen your video yesterday it does seem to have worked ok no loss of zero ect did make a note of my zero's first
Looks like they have Made Update 5.5.110 available again. Its ready for download on app. Have you heard anything about whether its fixed any of the concerns you had previously?!
No Alan , I think I’m officially on the naughty step mate ! I’ve had no contact whatsoever from HikMicro, which I’m very disappointed about to be honest. Not to worry though, I’m sure there are plenty of other companies who will learn from their mistakes in this case. I’m sorry I couldn’t be any more helpful, but I know for sure I WILL NOT UPGRADE MINE !
After firmware update pressing "restore" will wipe your settings. After update simply do a restart as in the prompt from the app. Then all your zero profiles should remain along with date time and ballistic data.. Try it
Great video - thank you. I'm a little late finding this particular video but can someone please let me know which version of the firmware is required to fix the issue and where this is available from? I have seen a different video talking about V5.5.110 is this the latest version? Thanks for your help.
I’ve been told this week that a phone call to the team at elite optical is the way forward with any firmware update questions. I’m afraid that I’m no longer in the loop 🤷🏼♂️
They make a great scope but they need people like yourself to test before release to the masses! Lots of us about to do that! So release a beta first so we are all happy👍🏻
I’ve told the right people in China exactly that, they’ve been to my house, they’ve been to my testing fields that are 1500 yards long and totally flat, well it’s a wartime airfield, so it’s going to be. But still they rely on one or two folks who they pay to make reviews on new kit. Don’t know what else I can offer to be honest, FREE TESTING AND EVALUATION in real world situations, not sitting looking out of a nice warm well lit office at a car in the car park .
Ive updated mine a few times since owning it and never done a factory restore after updating despite videos on you tube saying to do it. When updating from my phone it restarts it and says successful when checked. Everything works fine and lrf ballistics spot on. Am i doing the right thing as im basically too lazy to put all the information in again, and running the latest firmware V5.5.110_240.727
Well Nick, I believe that after updating the firmware, the restore button then finalises the install. Always worth jotting down all your X&Y settings either on paper or in a file on your phone, just in case eh 👍
@@predatorprotectionuk hi, yes got all my settings down on paper, x&y etc and ballistic info. Took the rifle out and checked zero after firmware update as usual and was spot on. Nothing changed. Noticed in the menus I now have different colour backgrounds and noticed that I can only do one flash on the lrf with BC switched on. If I switch it off I can extend the time of the lrf flashes as before. This is new, and I wonder what the logic is behind this change?
I will be buying my 4K soon, when I have sold my A50T, the question I would like to ask is does the ballistic calculator take into account the angle of the scope when ranging - shooting upward or downward and adjust the target marker on the reticle accordingly?
The new firmware update now does take this into account and you now can select G1,G7 or GS drag coefficients, I don’t know if it shows in the videos but as I set up for the shot you can see the POA marker move as I jitter the scope about up and down as I am getting settled
Has that Firmware been removed from Hikmicro? Its not available on the website and also telling me the version 5.5.81 is the latest version on the device. When I press check for updates it shows me version 5.5.110 but has 0MB File size and keeps saying network error when I try to download?!

Well Alan, you’re obviously going to loose and gain features if you do, it’s entirely up to you chap, but it wouldn’t hurt to hang fire and see what happens when the dust settles chap👍
@predatorprotectionuk yep that's what I'm thinking...of its working ok now leave for a while to see if another update will replace the recent one maybe!
I think it does now, which by my thinking means you need to zero at zero degrees/dead level between you and target to get meaningful ballistic calculations.
I’ll need to try it out later. I seem to have spent hours messing about with the alp ex since the so called update. Why can’t Hik just update based on user suggestions????
LRF reticle? I can’t imagine how they can remove the LRF reticle. It’s physically not possible to use the same reticle for POI as the LRF, to do so would require alignment of the LRF with the barrel. The POI reticle is adjusted off centre usually to align with the barrel, as we all know. However, the laser is fixed to the thermal device and is aligned to its reticle. As such, to move the LRF reticle would put it out of alignment with the laser.
The LRF IR spot, I think they mean. On most I’ve seen it’s miles away from what you’re aiming for, so requires a constant left /right/up/down to distance and adjust the aim point
Looks like I'm the only one having trouble, 5.5.88 was spot on now with 110 it's all gone T up. Sub 12flb, zeroed @ 30m balistic point is on centre with gun @ 0° tilt it up 1° balistic marker goes up 1.5cm, tilt it down to 0° its centered again, cary on down to 1° below goes back up to 1.5cm above again totally cocked up with this update.
I can’t say I experienced a loss of zero my friend I do use a eagle vision picatinny mount and I am quite fastidious every time I fit it to the gun pushing it forward and tightening the clamps evenly. That’s not to say you may have an issue with your scope I encourage people to contact Hikmicro if they do the have been fantastic with me had two diffent repairs on two different spotters one hardware and one firmware related
@AndrewPCSOxfordshire it's on the same rifle all the time mate the zero never moved till I did the first upgrade never new anything about it till first two shots were misses that's when I rang the dealer and he said that the 4k doesn't hold zero on an update 😕

Thank you for the news.
Do the callculator now also calculate the angle, when you hunt in the mountains and you have a 40 degrees angle ro shoot
Exactly, so some thought has gone into this, just not in all areas 👍
