Well said David! We know your not to blame. For hikmicro: i refuse to do update based on loss of stepped zoom , and potential issues with bc not working so well. *in fact what i want is 3 zoom options, continuous, stepped and smaller stepps like 3.5/7/10.5/14/17.5/21/28. *I want the reticle in the pip mode to adjust to the new aim point when using the lrf and bc. Its currently not fit for purpose. *Im fine with the holdover mark being on the main reticle as a seconday hash but it could be a tad larger to be easier to see. If in doubt study how an arken zulus works, the ui is just about bang on. I like the alpex for its large aperture, large eye display and large control knob, but in many other ways the zulus is a better product. Certainly when it comes to aimpoint methods and holdover / dial options, pip etc. Sort it out please and promptly!
This seems to be a situation where I'm glad I'm an old Luddite, and leave stuff alone when it's working. LOL My 4k LRF does what I need it to, but I'll be following this one intently. Thanks for keeping us in the loop David.
Hmmm, it’s a bit like a recall on your car isn’t it, I think the majority of people would get it done, just in case…… 20-20 hindsight is brilliant eh 😂😂
Good morning Maria, I’m confident that the technical team will get it resolved as soon as possible, probably doesn’t help it’s happening over a weekend though, but keep the faith I say 🙏👍
Thank you David hope they fix the FQ50. I want to be able to turn the Image pro on and off because it is terrible all the new Image pro did was make my spotter fuzzy and grainy and you can't turn it off. Hope Hikmicro listens to every one.
My FQ50 has been fuzzy and grainy since the update. Contacted HIK via the online chat thing and they were very helpful. Aparantly a UK supplier will be contacting me to send the unit back for downgrading. We shall see
@@predatorprotectionuk I’ve looked online and the only update for the FQ50 is the one that’s already on it. The thing is practically useless now and I’ve only had it since June.
So what you need to do David is , box it up, go back to where you bought it from and get them to return it to Elite Optical and insist they Fix it. HikMicro are refusing to speak to me now ! But strangely enough, that hasn’t solved the problem 🤷🏼♂️
Well I’m trying matey. It’s not Elite Optical’s fault either, those fellas down there are just the importers and distributors of the brand, and I feel bad for them , because it’s their phones that don’t stop ringing with angry customers. Don’t give Elite Optical a hard time, ITS NOT THEIR FAULT folks 🙏👍
I have yet to do the update due to the zoom thing. But on the lrf they have made the ballistic calculation in yards as well as meters and the holdover marks look like a great addition. Things as a pard ds user as well the pard has always had the functions that people are asking for.
Hello FenderMan, what’s up with a Les Paul then 🤣🤣 I’d hold off doing anything just yet, I’ve spoken to Elite Optical today, and I’m waiting for their permission to release their position at 09:30 this morning. Ernie Ball Super Slinkies 👍👍👍🎸
Had the exact same issue with my condor, I am actually in the middle of testing two units (condor and FH35R) to swe which one i want to keep. New firmware was a terrible mistake to upgrade. Ive been in touch with their general support, they did seem quite concerned about how many people had been complaining. Fingers crossed it gets sorted asap. Thanks for giving them hell
Glad you get things sorted David I myself haven’t got the latest gear I use the xt pulsar day night scope which I have had now for a few years now and it does the job well every thing I want got dog fox Tuesday night 105yds very pleased keep up the good work.
Hi, I have got the Hikmicro 4k lrf and tbh the update is ok to be fair ,I can see the the zoom in larger increments has gone ...but from my update I'll take a lot of positives. Centimeters has gone thank god. Mps has gone thank god replaced with fps. The drop is is now in inches not Centimeters. I had the Atn 4k and yes the Bc Crosshairs just moved to aim point ...but not a big deal if it stays as is tbh ....so is it the case it's all about the zoom functionality then we are talking about?
Hello chap, I hope you’re well ? Yes I can see a lot of good points for LRF owners, but this whole zoom thing is mad ! They’ve taken away the choice of two we had, and introduced one , that for me is bloody awful, I like to see stuff at base mag in the PiP and then two clicks, I’m up to full power. Ok, it may be a very pixelated image, but the whole world picture in the big screen isn’t. I’ve just posted a message on my channel that for some whacky reason, the zoom feature is only changed on the Mk2 🤷🏼♂️ Can you guess what’s on my .22 rimfire I’m going out with tonight ?? Andy Taylor is coming out with me with his LRF model, so I’m sure we may discuss HikGate. Rumour is that all HikMicro management have been abducted by aliens 👽 as they seem to have gone very quiet all of a sudden
great video its a good thing that you have contacts in the right places. for many of us we just dont get the chance of speaking to the right people in the right places which can leave us feeling very frustrated. so a very big thankyou for keeping the ordinary people up to date you are doing a brilliant job.
Any problems John , or anyone in that matter, email me, I’ll forward anything on, I don’t mind, they can’t dislike me any more than they do already, can they 😉🤣🤣🤣
Is the update ok to be used on the Mk1 Alpex, as most of the complaints seem to be for the mk2? I've got the update downloaded, but currently scared to add to the scope!
@predatorprotectionuk I uploaded the firmware onto the Mk1 Aplex. All seemed fine, until I checked the Zero. All four saved profiles were out. Daytime clarity seems to be way better if I'm not mistaken post update. Could have sworn I was looking through a 4K today @100yds
I bought a aplex lrf in may and it worked flawlessly through the ranges until I done an update on it 3 weeks after purchase, then it lost zero? so I re set it to factory settings and re zeroed again then it went off again! so I sent it back to elite optical to get sorted and they said it was ok ?( which is wasn’t) I got them to send it back to hik and they replaced the camera module and it’s been fine ever since. I will not be updating it again il just shoot with it.
I’m glad I’ve seen this video as I’ve just ordered an M4 and was going to put the hikmicro 4K LRF on the top, In your honest option what day/night scope would you get
I’d say the Alpex chum , it’s stunning and streets ahead of the competition, just open the box and use it, ignore the red tally on the app saying update available. Any problems email me 👍
@@predatorprotectionuk Thanks for the reply mate, I agree it is an amazing piece of kit so will end up getting it when I’m ready to, just won’t do the update as you say haha, I appreciate I can email you if I get any issues with it so thanks,
I bought a cheetah LRF , and that was the very same scope I GAVE AWAY ! I gave it away because I thought it was an unfinished product, it wasn’t up to the usual standards of quality we all expected, ( well until last Thursday ) at least . I did manage to get a special firmware update for it, that’s never been released to the public, before I sent it to Ken in Australia. I also developed a picatinny mounting that was adjustable too. There’s videos about it and that’s available to anyone who wants it done
Well done on the update, Lets hope they get their act together, until then, Im not updating my 4 scopes. Im looking forward to your next Vid as always. Thanks David.
Thanks very much for your support matey, and everyone’s on this. It’s all very well folks saying “I’m not going to update mine” But I’d say in most cases, an update improves the system and makes the scope better. Sadly it’s not the case this time
Hi David. Thanks for the vid and putting our point across. I updated my fq25 and the picture is terrible. I messaged um to complain about it and asked if I could just install old version and they said it has to go to service centre to be done 🤦🏼
I think the service centre is going to be busy, so they should at least offer this. FREE DPD COLLECTION OF YOUR FAULTY UNITS to be fixed ! How’s that for a start folks ????
Ideally they would put out the old version again so we could do it ourselves. I’m close to the service centre so could take it there myself as being a full time keeper it’s need a lot this time of year
@timknight4271 well that’s what I thought Tim , when you get to the restore button, how about two options on it? 1. Restore new firmware 2. Revert to previous firmware Or, as you say make a previous version available. There’s a link on the elite optical facebook site for folks with Falcons, will information on a fix.
Thanks for that David I’ll take a look. Tbf to hik they replied to my complaint really quick and said to try changing some settings and if that’s no good they’ll sort it out. I’ll keep u updated 👍🏻
Sorry to hear about all the problems being the village idiot as far as doing anything to my scope let alone update it I just can’t grasp how to do it , any way I think you’re the man to sort it so wish you the best of luck. Keep turning out the videos I find them great . Best wishes Paul
Cheers Paul, I’ve only just got started chum, if I have to go to bloody China, I will, OR they can come here and stay with us , and I’ll take their tech guy’s out at night, to experience what really happens at night
That’s probably the best way Charles , I’m confident they will get it sorted out and hopefully learn from this. I know some comments have been unsupportive and we should get on with it, but when we are spending up to £3500 on a thermal scope, and big numbers on the Alpex versions, there’s got to be a limit on what we consider as something we can just “ get on with and let go” I’ve still yet to hear from my contacts, but I expect they are extremely busy trying to sort this out . Weekend is cancelled in a certain factory in China I think !
Not long had the Alpex 4K (none lrf), I’d sooner use the stop increasements than continuous but I think .1 at a time is too much, .5 or 1.0 increasements would suit me a lot more. I also just use the dot reticle as I don’t like too much going on in the view finder but this is actually too bold for my liking. Happy with the scope but room for improvement…..
I love the dot reticle, now the chap who suggested that was a genius 😉😀😀😀 The little bold cross was also one I put forward for consideration, and they listened and acted, so it does work sometimes 🤷🏼♂️
THIS IS FOR THE FALCON FQ50: I was racking my brain and went will if Hikmicro took the falcon download off there web cite, what did they replace it with, so I checked and they put a April 2024 upgrade. Then I remembered reading on your comments you where having with some one and they said don't you have a old update on your PC, so I downloaded the April update and found I had other updates on my PC so I put the upgrade from April into my FQ50 and it is fixed Image Pro 2 is gone and I am back to normal and can turn Image Pro on and off. Thanks to you and your friend that where discussing it you saved me and a trip to Exeter. Maybe you should let everyone know who has a Falcon FQ50 to go to Hikmicro downloads and use there PC to fix there FQ50's. If it wasn't for you I would have been screwed. Thank you so much. Duane
Hi Duane , Well that’s a very useful bit of information. Maybe we could make that update available to those with similar scopes? It would need to be sent via email.
Did my FH35 today from the app and works better than before ,clearer picture ,higher zoom but does give more distortion as expected, range finder , picture in picture and new menu design software version was 5.5.85_240425
I think you’ll find that’s the April version and not the August one that has since been removed from the list. There’s STILL been no official announcement on their proposed release date for the new version though 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ Which I find disappointing for such a big company and a reputation to maintain?
@@predatorprotectionuk should have realised that was the release date , mines a year old so had an older version with the old orange and black menu. The April update was a big improvement with all the extras and better picture quality hopefully the re-released version when it happens will be just as good
Spot on lad, it's a nightmare. Zoom function, ballistic calculator changed, settings like pellet weight not there, I don't think. Have to back down range to check my zero. Never had these problems with my old pard 007 add on lad.
I got on okay last night with my Alpex 4k LRF and do like the small dot as a holdover marker instead of the large X, but as I have already pointed out to Chris at Elite Optical the holdover mark still does not appear on the PIP box reticle. Also in my opinion they need to reduce the size of the individual cross and dot reticles as they are way too large and also the remote cross that is in the centre of the T and duplex reticle, they need to look at the size of the Pard DS35 reticle centre +
Anyone problems with the stellar I updated it now it zeroes opposite! So you move it left and it will go left but then sets it right! Same with up and down it’s all opposite.
Just updated fh35 to latest version released on app 5.5.85_240906 absolutely no issues ,image pro function still removed but no picture quality issues.
I use the alpex 4k a lot. Miss the stepped zoom. Single reticle that moves to the ranged distance would be great. Also spoke to HIKMICRO today regarding the inability to switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius. I know it’s a metric imperial thing but in the U.K. a lot of people use yards but don’t use Fahrenheit. Hopefully they can sort little things out rather quickly, I’d love to be able to report back quickly to them.
@@predatorprotectionuk Instead David, we are treated every night you turn the telly on to a smorgersboard of 'metrication' by the goons at the bbc/itv. We all live in the UK where the unit of measure is still IMPERIAL,.
Hi David just a update took my FQ50 out to night the spotter is useless could see clearer with a spot light. I am speechless I have to send it in it is no good to me the way it is. Image pro 2 what a disaster. The worst think is I fell for Hikmicro's promo vid on how great the update was I feel like such a fool every time I look threw it.
Not so good really David to be fair my 4k LRF i haven't done one up date on it as it works so good as it was from the box and has held zero 100% so i just leave em alone.
Hi Simon , yes I can understand that, but sometimes there’s things that need to be adjusted to be improved, not totally cocked up. As I said, I’m not paid by anyone to review stuff, and the kit I use regularly is mine and I’ve bought it, so I’m perfectly within my rights to complain about it if they’re not working properly, and if I can get my kit and the few viewers I have, get theirs fixed, then I will continue to get these products working right.
@@simon6ppc246 Hi Simon, definitely merit in, leave it alone if it's working. I think your local foxes would agree😁 So far that's what I've done, but partly due to being away from home, if I was home, may well have done the update. It's not right though that the update should effect anything existing within the scope, it should purely be to give more options, features and not to take anything away. If it were to have negative effects, then users should certainly be warned about it by Hik before committing.
Went to my gun shop the sportsman Dorchester to buy a 4k lrf. Come away empty handed. Did not like the fact that the lrf square disappeared when I zoomed in. The picture is great. But having to zoom out every time to range find would not work for me. My pard stays in place so it must be possible to fix this. Will watch and wait. Has the potential to be amazing if they can get the software right.
not going to update my A50T then, I am saving up for the 4K, i used to use an ATN with the laser rangefinder and ballistic calculator and the reticle relocation for firing solution worked well. HiK need to step up and get this sorted before I buy the 4K
My mk1 Stella image went awful after an update. I contacted Hik tech via the app and after I sent some sample vids they collected it via DPD and returned the scope about a week later..... Updi the 4k lrf last night... Seems ok but I'll try it later
Great video ands well done with getting it out there The problem with Hikmicro is that they field their products too soon without field testing them... they did the same with their trail camera which although works ok they didnt get the data packages correct and still havent ... i wont update my LRF now until i hear further news. Cheers
That’s what I’ve said before and offered to field test stuff BEFORE it’s put on sale, but all that’s happened is my face has gone blue and my hairs all gone 🤷🏼♂️🫢
Well it could be? Don’t do anything yet, there’s the technical team member I speak to a lot on her way to the UK as we speak I’ve been told this morning
Done this update yes things could be better and with time hopefully they will. The zoom I don't have a problem with still got the 3.5-7-14 and so on or you can have the 3.5-4.5-5.5 and so on. Like the green reminds me of Gen3 tubed kit. Like you said in the video would be good if the ret moved like the ATN 4K does. Bloody hard to see that little cross, if they keep that it needs to be able to change the colour.
@@predatorprotectionukThanks, you are doing a great job. I’ve spent almost £3k on a Hik set up and the updates have actually made a great range of products worse. Thanks for fighting our corner on this one.
Get on to em David fortunately ive been to busy to do the update because like you I can't be pissin about going through the zoom range the target will have died of old age 😂 think I'll stick with the version I've got Well done on keeping us informed 👏
@@predatorprotectionuk yeah not good but hopefully the powers that be will take on board your feed back. Personally I think the black and white for night is perfectly fine so the time they used on that cound be used to perfect the other issues maybe 😏
When I had a look through my Alpex 4k LRF, I always have it on auto, to change from day and night, when I tried it last night, I had one of them new screens come up, I just want colour and night, on yellow or green, Hicmicro need to send a few people over here, to the likes of you and Robin etc and spend time with you and actually shoot something 🤓
Hi to you, I agree with you and your viewers I have a Alpex 4k lrf stepped not continuous and as the ballistic should be clearer one more gripe, why is it that as a rat shooter the lrf ballistic don’t go under 10 mtrs others do, just a very valid point not mentioned yet mick from Durham
i just got in from ratting, saw the update when i went to connect my Alpex 4k LRF to my phone and thought i wont bother...bloody glad i didnt! and now i know this, i wont be updating my SQ50 2.0.
I hope my comments on the last video didn't come across as aimed at you but more Hik. It certainly was not meant to come over as a dig at you, I thoroughly enjoy your content. But like you the multi Zoom function was great for me foxing and stalking deer. My comments on your last video was to point out this issue to others before the jumped in and did the update. I wanted also to draw your attention to it knowing you have contacts at Hik so that you could do what you are doing hopefully they don't take months to return it as an option. Thanks again for all the great content.
Not at all chap, I’ve got no influence on HikMicro, or I’d have got this update bollocks stopped before it was released. They only need to ask, and I’ll help, they know that, they’ve been here to my house, I’ve taken them to where I shoot and shown that I’ve got 1500 yards of flat grass, where I can test stuff. I expect it’s down to pride, and they can do it all by themselves and not ask for help ! I bet by next week they’ll be wishing they had asked for help 🤷🏼♂️🫢
Updates dont effect me im olf fashioned i use a normal scope with either a torch or pard add on depeding what i am up to . You can only do your best so dont beat yoursekf up over this balls up Best tip i got was the manbilly tripod its brilliant and works well It will all get sorted im sure Take care stay safe Regards
Thanks William, I’m glad you’re happy with the tripod, that’s a perfect demonstration of how a company, not used to using kit for shooting, listens to thoughts and suggestions and acts on them, to make a brilliant product 🤷🏼♂️ It works doesn’t it 😉
@@predatorprotectionukI disagree (nice to double check hold overs from zero point just in case RF pings something else. Potentially dangerous with slow heavy droopy centre fire and a pain on droopy air gun. As with all the updates why don’t they just have an either/or rather than do away with functions. I strongly believe this is about building in obsolescence, rather like Apple do.
SO, I have paid for a 4K Alpex LRF & waiting PATIENTLY for it to arrive, (I am advised it could be weeks/months) but there are none in the country, everyone is waiting for their outstanding deliveries!!!! As a result of this apparent cock up by Hik, I am now wandering if I should cancel this order immediately & buy from another manufacturer! At the end of the day, the 4K Alpex IS complicated enough, without some 'untried' firmware making life & what was previously a very good scope, more complicated.
@@predatorprotectionuk Thanks David. It will be interesting to hear of your interest in this matter & what is going to happen to ALL HIK products as a result!
Thanks for the info David. Luckily I’ve never done any updates on my alpex 4k or lynx spotter. I do struggle to see the hold over point on the 4k alpex lrf, especially in day time. It works so left it alone. Be interesting to see how they resolve this. Do you what scope’s affected? Were any of the lynx spotter updates any good?
Very well said pard. Seems to me they are missing a trick, if they were to send you the update first and you test it they would save themselves a load of grief, ah the powers that be pal, they always know best, apparently
Why can't they have a marker come up once you press the lrf button instead of it covering the centre crosshair the moment you turn on the device staying on screen for say a minute then you have to re press the lrf. Smaller reticles needed 6.9 moa at 100 yards center crosshair is ridiculous. Scaled reticles / first focal plain so you can use hold over on any magnification. External battery used first as having to recharge the internal battery after every use is stupid. A good scope spoilt by stupid design faults. 👍
It's more common sense about the internal battery. The reticles are huge. I won't update any of my gear as both pulsar and hikmicro totally fooked up my thermals although hikmicro did reverse it back to the original which pulsar claimed they couldn't do. I won't update my C50 as that was perfect from new and works faultlessly. I'm not overly impressed with the alpex 4k lrf in all honesty. Dusk is crap in auto as it switches back and forth to easily. I haven't tried it in daylight only yet to see if it is any better. You are constantly fiddling with something to get a better image. C50 it's turn on and shoot. 👍. Let's see if hikmicro actually listen like they claim they do. 9
@iandebie now I had a C50 when they first came out and kept it for a week and shifted it, I thought the opposite, so like I said it’s down to the individual to choose what they like and want 👍
I had a firmware update on car fridge..that stopped me connecting by phone via Bluetooth to check on and adjust temperature...they still haven't fixed it months later. Hope hik micro fix it soon. I'm still waiting for new pulsar NV scope... Im wary of Chinese stuff...returned a pard ds 35 70 for similar software reasons. But.. The 4k alpex lrf does look like my uncle's dog's knackers....
CQ35L EX OWNER. Absolute garbage. 4 units over 3months and tons of issues. On 1 maybe 2 at a push…but FOUR replacements later and the 3rd being supplied 2nd hand used!! Sooooooo disappointing user end users at launch when product was clearly not right with battery life, thermal sensors, firmware issues. Also after being my 3rd Hik purchase having owned Lynx L15 then a Lynx LH25. Should have just stayed with that than ruin matters with inferior ‘upgrade’ to Condor. Unforgivable imho. Only folk who came out of the sorry saga were Elite the distributor who went beyond duty to try solve YOUR hardware issues. Hik releasing firmware that messes up tons of their customers kit,, how to lose yet more customers. No thanks China, looking elsewhere for my adult sized shooting wallet spend…….
Keith, let the folks know what bus you’re on, I think you won’t be alone chum, I’m VERY DISAPPOINTED in the brand, I thought they were better than this!
I’ve got a fq35. I updated it. The picture quality seems “ lazy” in the general background. It seems the software seems to “ pop” out (highlight) the animal. Almost like a manga cartoon. I also have the alpex lrf. I haven’t updated that yet. Probably won’t. I also just bought a thunder tq50 2.0. It’s the first thermal scope I’ve ever had. I did update that before I used it so I have no reference as to what it was like before but it seems ok. So mixed results for me.
Zoom should be large increments , not small increments , no good for hunting situations , far too repetitive and slow . So retaining the two options for digital zoom is best .
Hello Ian, Thanks for watching chap and taking the time to respond. I think HikMicro have made a monumental error here and are in danger of going down like a plane with its tail on fire. I feel sorry for the team at Elite Optical, as they will be swamped with complaints, that aren’t their fault. I agree with your thoughts on the zoom, let US decide what we want on the zoom, not a chap sat at a desk in the office !
@@predatorprotectionuk I think they have good intentions at heart and want to make things improved and better , but your fighting with the rest of the world too, meaning European, Aus who probably have some input into these decisions , some markets might advise software or external design ideas so these can make it into the product , sometimes too late to revert .. With firmware it’s better to sit back and wait a few weeks , see if there’s any glitches brought to light ! 😆
@iw.blackwood I suppose it is Ian , but the offer of a free collection service with DPD to get the scopes up to Lutterworth would be a nice gesture, if folks want the old firmware installed, or have an option to revert back to the old firmware on the app 🤷🏼♂️ The choice is ours then
Why dont you use PIP then you have a wide field of view and then a zoomed in Target area? then you dont need to zoom.... as for the Ret and using LRF, the ATN was flawed in that if the ret did "adjust" and you forgot to re-laser your target then you have the wrong POA and your going to miss.. using the current system HIK have gives you a constant zero POI and a refrence point.. then you get to choose... personaly i can see any real issues with this update.. and as for complaining online, not supplier is going to get you on there testing program if your more than happy to go online and complain about software...when there is no real issues...
@@predatorprotectionuk it just seems your complaining about something thats not a real issue... POI shifting, image quality and things like this are real issues.. as the product would be unsafe... a zoom wheel is a personal prefrence, they cannot make it perfect for everybody... whats wrong with using PIP ? there is lots of happy users with the update.. what else is wrong wrong with it ? and your suprised you have not had a reply from HIK after this video.. no company will engage with people who produce videos like this... or enter them into a test program..
The point I’m trying to make that everyone has spoken about is they’ve removed the dual option of the two types of zoom and replaced it with a third new option, when we at least had a choice before ,as we do with the pre-recording times , PiP , smart IR. I don’t understand why they just come up with a new idea without getting folks involved who use the stuff.
Hardly a disaster regarding Alpex zoom can't speak for other devices but just because you don't like it does not make it a disaster. A disaster is the unit not working correctly not just a feature not to your liking
Yes I understand you, but to a lot of folks , a pub running out of their favourite beer would be a disaster, even though there are others available. That’s not a disaster for me , coz I don’t drink the stuff, so like you, it’s not a disaster to me. Some folks might like the new zoom function, I don’t, and 95% of the comments on here don’t either. If HikMicro really like to include it, they could at least have it optional, like the previous two were. Lemonade anyone 🤷🏼♂️😉
I used to own pulsar and switched over to HikMicro after attending a night vision event. I did a comparison video of two HikMicro units and the latest pulsar device. I still maintain that HikMicro images are a mile better than the exact same specification pulsar unit . Take a look at the video that Andy and I made, the evidence is plain and clear
British Agent ! I don’t think even James Bond and Q can fix this cock up ! There’s only the importer and repair centre here in the UK, I’ve emailed the service manager at Elite just now to apologise and let him know there’s a storm coming.
When i was at the shooting show being told our back up is there for you and we will always do our best to improve things should have realised typical sales rep,i only got 1 product FH 35,i was thinking of getting a thermal but will wait that's for your video
@gallantone1535 you should have attended one of my private thermal and night vision demonstration events, that way you could try everything out before opening your wallet
Great work David. Here’s my take; I’ve an Alpex4k LRF 1. I’m happy with the BC aim point separate to the main ret. If you know your rough hold over/under it’s nice to know the difference at any time just in case you’ve pinged the wrong thing on LRF or BC is playing up. 2. Latest update screwed up my BC. Even entering same data again it miscalculated. BC also adds G1,G2 etc bullet types, but with now explanation. 3. I think the angle measure and cant measure have moved closer to edge of screen. Minor gripe, but now rogh on edge of view. Also my Condor 35 LRF - Battery life has not improved with any updates as far as I can tell. 3. Agree on all you said about zoom. Removing options is not an update it’s a backward step.
Hmmmm, yes indeed you’re right, I always think of Neil Armstrong when things like this happen, one Giant Leap for Mankind, and some spotty faced kid does something and , kicks yer steps away and you fall in a heap ! It’s called improvement apparently 🤷🏼♂️🤣🤣🤣
I updated my condor CQ 50 night before last. Took it out last night and its turned my excellent condor in dog shit !! Image pro gone and picture is shit. Constantly try to focus. 100% done with hik micro now im just left with a 2K pile of shit ! Never again !
I think that’s a bit harsh Malcolm , the technology is very good, it’s the cogs in the background that need adjusting so they all work together. I did a lot of years in covert surveillance and the kit they make is very good, it’s the silly bits that let them down
Well said David!
Well HOPEFULLY, all of your messages folks will get translated if need be, and read in China ! 🙏
Used Pulsar for years, never let me down. I will be sticking with them in the future.
This seems to be a situation where I'm glad I'm an old Luddite, and leave stuff alone when it's working. LOL My 4k LRF does what I need it to, but I'll be following this one intently. Thanks for keeping us in the loop David.
I think a few people will be 👍👍
Cheers for the reply mate.
@The-Ratbasher have a nice evening chum👍
@@predatorprotectionuk And yourself.
If your happy with the performance of the scope never update it,
“if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
Hmmm, it’s a bit like a recall on your car isn’t it, I think the majority of people would get it done, just in case……
20-20 hindsight is brilliant eh 😂😂
Thanks for the heads up. I'll stick with my version as it works.... hope you get yours resolved.
It was nice to speak to you today chap, all the way from the USA too 😉🇺🇸
Thanks for the warning 👍Hopefully they get it sorted soon.
My pleasure chap, I’m on your side here, not theirs
Thanks David👏.
You’re welcome chap, this needs to be sorted out now.
My FQ50 has been fuzzy and grainy since the update. Contacted HIK via the online chat thing and they were very helpful. Aparantly a UK supplier will be contacting me to send the unit back for downgrading. We shall see
That’s good Andy , like I said, THEY WILL GET THERE 👍👍
Did someone get back to you? My Falcon fq50 is horrendous now after the latest update, is there no way of doing a factory reset?
@daviddesouza1570
I think if you do the update again, it should be the previous version online 🤞🏼
@@predatorprotectionuk I’ve looked online and the only update for the FQ50 is the one that’s already on it. The thing is practically useless now and I’ve only had it since June.
So what you need to do David is , box it up, go back to where you bought it from and get them to return it to Elite Optical and insist they Fix it.
HikMicro are refusing to speak to me now !
But strangely enough, that hasn’t solved the problem 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks David, appreciate all your efforts about this situation. 💪
Well I’m trying matey. It’s not Elite Optical’s fault either, those fellas down there are just the importers and distributors of the brand, and I feel bad for them , because it’s their phones that don’t stop ringing with angry customers. Don’t give Elite Optical a hard time, ITS NOT THEIR FAULT folks 🙏👍
will they be able to put another update up to fix problem or take back to the last update
I have yet to do the update due to the zoom thing. But on the lrf they have made the ballistic calculation in yards as well as meters and the holdover marks look like a great addition. Things as a pard ds user as well the pard has always had the functions that people are asking for.
Hello FenderMan, what’s up with a Les Paul then 🤣🤣
I’d hold off doing anything just yet, I’ve spoken to Elite Optical today, and I’m waiting for their permission to release their position at 09:30 this morning.
Hi,
I have got the Hikmicro 4k lrf and tbh the update is ok to be fair ,I can see the the zoom in larger increments has gone ...but from my update I'll take a lot of positives.
I’ve just posted a message on my channel that for some whacky reason, the zoom feature is only changed on the Mk2 🤷🏼♂️
Can you guess what’s on my .22 rimfire I’m going out with tonight ??
I’ve done my Mk1 and it’s ok, I’m editing a video right now using it compared to a Mk2
@predatorprotectionuk thank you. I look forward to the video.
@HighlandMac1 tomorrow night hopefully 🤞🏼
I did my Mk1, and the zoom is the same , but you get two new colours of the screen, which are OK, but not everyone’s cup of tea.
Sounds like a great plan matey, if only we had all done that 🤷🏼♂️🤬
I’m glad I’ve seen this video as I’ve just ordered an M4 and was going to put the hikmicro 4K LRF on the top,
In your honest option what day/night scope would you get
I’d say the Alpex chum , it’s stunning and streets ahead of the competition, just open the box and use it, ignore the red tally on the app saying update available.
Any problems email me 👍
@@predatorprotectionuk
Thanks for the reply mate,
I agree it is an amazing piece of kit so will end up getting it when I’m ready to, just won’t do the update as you say haha,
I appreciate I can email you if I get any issues with it so thanks,
@420Farmer7 yep no worries chum 👍👍
Would be nice if the cheetah lrf could benefit from the proposed benefits of the latest firmware update when it gets sorted.
Well said hope we can get it sorted
Thanks chum 🤝
do you know if the firmware update for the SQ50 2.0 is ok ? where there any continuing issues?
DO NOT UPDATE ANYTHING UNTIL YOU HEAR THAT ALL THE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED.
@@predatorprotectionuk phew...
Well done on the update, Lets hope they get their act together, until then, Im not updating my 4 scopes. Im looking forward to your next Vid as always. Thanks David.
Thanks very much for your support matey, and everyone’s on this. It’s all very well folks saying “I’m not going to update mine”
But I’d say in most cases, an update improves the system and makes the scope better.
1. Restore new firmware
2. Revert to previous firmware
Or, as you say make a previous version available.
Thanks for that. I was about to update
Hold off Tom, don’t do anything stupid yet 😳🤣🤣🤣
Sorry to hear about all the problems being the village idiot as far as doing anything to my scope let alone update it I just can’t grasp how to do it , any way I think you’re the man to sort it so wish you the best of luck. Keep turning out the videos I find them great . Best wishes Paul
Cheers Paul, I’ve only just got started chum, if I have to go to bloody China, I will, OR they can come here and stay with us , and I’ll take their tech guy’s out at night, to experience what really happens at night
I’ve had Alpex lrf for a few months now and I’ve not updated it yet so I will endeavour to wait until it gets fixed
Thanks for the update pal ATB
That’s probably the best way Charles , I’m confident they will get it sorted out and hopefully learn from this.
I know some comments have been unsupportive and we should get on with it, but when we are spending up to £3500 on a thermal scope, and big numbers on the Alpex versions, there’s got to be a limit on what we consider as something we can just “ get on with and let go”
I’ve still yet to hear from my contacts, but I expect they are extremely busy trying to sort this out .
I love the dot reticle, now the chap who suggested that was a genius 😉😀😀😀
The little bold cross was also one I put forward for consideration, and they listened and acted, so it does work sometimes 🤷🏼♂️
@@predatorprotectionuk I use the dot reticle on my wraith 4K’s but they’re a lot smaller, the Hik dot is as big as a fox’s head 🤷♂️😂
@FoxTakers at a 1000 yards it is
THIS IS FOR THE FALCON FQ50: I was racking my brain and went will if Hikmicro took the falcon download off there web cite, what did they replace it with, so I checked and they put a April 2024 upgrade. Duane
Hi Duane ,
Well that’s a very useful bit of information.
There’s STILL been no official announcement on their proposed release date for the new version though 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Which I find disappointing for such a big company and a reputation to maintain?
@@predatorprotectionuk should have realised that was the release date , mines a year old so had an older version with the old orange and black menu. The April update was a big improvement with all the extras and better picture quality hopefully the re-released version when it happens will be just as good
@@terrycleverley1774
Well, they’re certainly good at making folks wait in silence aren’t they 🤔🥴
A bit of reassurance would be nice to have
Spot on lad, it's a nightmare.
Zoom function, ballistic calculator changed, settings like pellet weight not there, I don't think. Have to back down range to check my zero.
Never had these problems with my old pard 007 add on lad.
Zero should be the same u have to re input the ballistic data
@@philipheelham3061
Done that lad, hopefully be ok. Not very good at this, too old now
@philipheelham3061 thanks Philip , I’m not an LRF user, but I think you folks have been chatting between yourselves about this 👍
I got on okay last night with my Alpex 4k LRF and do like the small dot as a holdover marker instead of the large X, but as I have already pointed out to Chris at Elite Optical the holdover mark still does not appear on the PIP box reticle.
You shouldn’t have done the update chap until they’ve got it fixed
Just updated fh35 to latest version released on app 5.5.85_240906 absolutely no issues ,image pro function still removed but no picture quality issues.
Yes, I think they re-released the old firmware mate, that’s why
I use the alpex 4k a lot. Miss the stepped zoom. Single reticle that moves to the ranged distance would be great. Also spoke to HIKMICRO today regarding the inability to switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius. I know it’s a metric imperial thing but in the U.K. a lot of people use yards but don’t use Fahrenheit. Hopefully they can sort little things out rather quickly, I’d love to be able to report back quickly to them.
Too right !
We’re in England , we should have yards-feet & inches, and gallons of petrol.
I’m with you chum
@@predatorprotectionuk Instead David, we are treated every night you turn the telly on to a smorgersboard of 'metrication' by the goons at the bbc/itv. We all live in the UK where the unit of measure is still IMPERIAL,.

Hi David just a update took my FQ50 out to night the spotter is useless could see clearer with a spot light. I am speechless I have to send it in it is no good to me the way it is. Image pro 2 what a disaster. The worst think is I fell for Hikmicro's promo vid on how great the update was I feel like such a fool every time I look threw it.
I think they should offer a free collection service from DPD to get these units fixed 🫵
I think your local foxes would agree😁
So far that's what I've done, but partly due to being away from home, if I was home, may well have done the update.
And if they would only listen to advice 🤷🏼♂️
You need to shim your mounts to get the square centrally - a pain at first, but once done you are sorted.
My older Alpex was okay. All functions are normal
Zoom option is a shame the rest is fine. Was testing the firmwear a few weeks back. All feed back has been pushed back to Hik
Oh I’m sure there’s going to be a big meeting in the office today 🤷🏼♂️
not going to update my A50T then, I am saving up for the 4K, i used to use an ATN with the laser rangefinder and ballistic calculator and the reticle relocation for firing solution worked well.
HiK need to step up and get this sorted before I buy the 4K
Very interesting and very informative
Indeed it is Syd , I’ve got space in my garage for your Willy mate !!!!!
Now that’s going to make a few eyebrows raise 🤔🤣🤣🤣
My mk1 Stella image went awful after an update. I contacted Hik tech via the app and after I sent some sample vids they collected it via DPD and returned the scope about a week later..... Updi the 4k lrf last night... Seems ok but I'll try it later
Good luck chum🤞🏼👍
Great video ands well done with getting it out there
The problem with Hikmicro is that they field their products too soon without field testing them... they did the same with their trail camera which although works ok they didnt get the data packages correct and still havent ... i wont update my LRF now until i hear further news.

Too proud and too smart I guess
****My Hik sight app is now telling me there is another update due for the Alpex LRF v5.5.110 240727 a day after the last one? Could this be a fix?
Thanks for fighting our corner on this one.

i agree just have the 1 aim point that moves NOT a silly hard to see 2nd reticle in a way i wish i had kept my wulf 4k
Yep, that’ll work matey, but they obviously thought they were being clever
When I had a look through my Alpex 4k LRF, I always have it on auto, to change from day and night, when I tried it last night, I had one of them new screens come up, I just want colour and night, on yellow or green, Hicmicro need to send a few people over here, to the likes of you and Robin etc and spend time with you and actually shoot something 🤓
The offer has been made John
Hi to you, I agree with you and your viewers I have a Alpex 4k lrf stepped not continuous and as the ballistic should be clearer one more gripe, why is it that as a rat shooter the lrf ballistic don’t go under 10 mtrs others do, just a very valid point not mentioned yet mick from Durham
Hello Mick, thanks for joining us on the bus mate, well that’s another question for the technical experts that can’t shoot to answer, isn’t it ! 🫢😀

Well done Paul, or should I say “Lucky Jim” 🫵🤣🤣

Thanks William, I’m glad you’re happy with the tripod, that’s a perfect demonstration of how a company, not used to using kit for shooting, listens to thoughts and suggestions and acts on them, to make a brilliant product 🤷🏼♂️
It works doesn’t it 😉
I would prefer the cross hair to move rather than the extra minute cross on the 4K lrf
So would most people chap 👍
@@predatorprotectionukI disagree (nice to double check hold overs from zero point just in case RF pings something else. Potentially dangerous with slow heavy droopy centre fire and a pain on droopy air gun. As with all the updates why don’t they just have an either/or rather than do away with functions.
I strongly believe this is about building in obsolescence, rather like Apple do.
I think I'll stick to my atn mars with a 56mm lens and my pvs 14 with top tubes in them
I think that’s a great idea chap 👍
SO, I have paid for a 4K Alpex LRF & waiting PATIENTLY for it to arrive, (I am advised it could be weeks/months) but there are none in the country, everyone is waiting for their outstanding deliveries!!!! As a result of this apparent cock up by Hik, I am now wandering if I should cancel this order immediately & buy from another manufacturer!
At the end of the day, the 4K Alpex IS complicated enough, without some 'untried' firmware making life & what was previously a very good scope, more complicated.
I wouldn’t cancel it, just don’t update it chap
Hi Nigel, well ! That’s exactly what I’ve said many-many times 🤷🏼♂️
I’ll see you next week chap 👍
Why can't they have a marker come up once you press the lrf button instead of it covering the centre crosshair the moment you turn on the device staying on screen for say a minute then you have to re press the lrf. Smaller reticles needed 6.9 moa at 100 yards center crosshair is ridiculous. Scaled reticles / first focal plain so you can use hold over on any magnification. External battery used first as having to recharge the internal battery after every use is stupid. A good scope spoilt by stupid design faults. 👍
Designed folks who don’t use them
It's more common sense about the internal battery.
A bit like DJI drones, hold back on updating a while.

Waste of time glad I haven’t done it🤬
Zoom should be large increments , not small increments , no good for hunting situations , far too repetitive and slow .
So retaining the two options for digital zoom is best .
Hello Ian,
Thanks for watching chap and taking the time to respond.
@iw.blackwood I suppose it is Ian , but the offer of a free collection service with DPD to get the scopes up to Lutterworth would be a nice gesture, if folks want the old firmware installed, or have an option to revert back to the old firmware on the app 🤷🏼♂️
The choice is ours then
Honestly couldn't see any advantages to the latest update so didn't bother. Glad I didn't now.
It’s nice to have the choice between the two or now three options they’ve made
Why dont you use PIP then you have a wide field of view and then a zoomed in Target area? then you dont need to zoom.... as for the Ret and using LRF, the ATN was flawed in that if the ret did "adjust" and you forgot to re-laser your target then you have the wrong POA and your going to miss.. using the current system HIK have gives you a constant zero POI and a refrence point.. then you get to choose... personaly i can see any real issues with this update.. and as for complaining online, not supplier is going to get you on there testing program if your more than happy to go online and complain about software...when there is no real issues...
You’ve obviously never watched any of my videos chum
Yes PIP is the way to go. Set it before you go walkabout..
@@predatorprotectionuk well after that video they wont be talking to you again.. im afraid to say
So not a disaster scope still works just some small issues that u don’t like and others do boring
Well I’ll use this as a script for a follow up video 👍
Very helpful 😉
Hardly a disaster regarding Alpex zoom can't speak for other devices but just because you don't like it does not make it a disaster. A disaster is the unit not working correctly not just a feature not to your liking
agreed, personally I like the zoom ratio on the update to my alpex, the old system was either too slow or too fast!
Just subscribed to lol.
Thank you for your support 🫵👍👍
Ummmmmm Sticking with my Pulsars. 😢
Why doesn't the British agent get involved
Any news from Hik micro
Check your phone I’ve messaged you chap
Stick to pulsar
I always wait a while with a firmware update for this exact reason. dead nv100 owner. David UK.
Or, have a method of retrieving the original firmware!
That’s something they should do
the only predator in the uk is starmer
Let’s leave the politics out of this, we’ve got enough problems without including folks who can’t tell the truth about anything
Great work David. Here’s my take;
I’ve an Alpex4k LRF
Well said..jyst gad hip down..the morphine sends u into la la land😂
You go steady Robert, no kick starting Norton Commandos for at least a week 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Get well soon my metal brother
@@predatorprotectionuk cheers
I updated my condor CQ 50 night before last. Took it out last night and its turned my excellent condor in dog shit !!
Image pro gone and picture is shit. Constantly try to focus.
100% done with hik micro now im just left with a 2K pile of shit !
Never again !
Stand by Steve, don’t give up yet, I’ll be on at em to get a further return firmware update out
@@predatorprotectionuk Cheers buddy 👍 give em Hell !
It’s hik not hike.
Will that make it better then???
@@predatorprotectionuk probably not but it would stop you looking silly mispronouncing it.
@Marky948 ah, an expert in mandarin 👍
Try this then
Pata Ka Lang 😉
They are the worst manafacturer. I have had nothing but issues with them and there customer service is appalling. I now only use Infiray.
I think that’s a bit harsh Malcolm , the technology is very good, it’s the cogs in the background that need adjusting so they all work together. I did a lot of years in covert surveillance and the kit they make is very good, it’s the silly bits that let them down
I can’t agree I had a very slight visual issue with my Lynx they agreed and changed the thermal sensor had it back within 4 days
