I have never pressed restore myself as it should reboot with the new settings once you have switched it off and back on again. I have never had a problem. What problems did you have?
@@mfloutdoors Prior to hitting the restore button the mag range was not showing the new range of gradations, it was going 3.5, 7.5, 8,5 etc . What fooled me was the green and yellow screens were available.
Great video 👍I have watched so many reviews for the alpex and just bought 1 however the size and weight is ridiculous it’s like a baseball bat lol so i decided not to fit it and went back the a pard If only people said how massive this scope was I would not have bought it lol This is the problem of buying on line i guess 🙈 Anyway nice shooting mate 👍
Thanks for the nice comments Nigel. Yes they are quite a heavy scope but I am used to using these sorts of scopes on my rifles. I use it mainly on my .22LR and it's very light weight so not so bad for me taking the weight of both into account mate. 👍🏻
@ yeah i think for me using the pard DS35lrf has spoiled me for the perfect scope compact and light weight so i was shocked to see the size and weight of the alpex so after a long debate of buying it i am not even fitting it to a rifle lol sending it straight back and getting another pard 😅👍
I really like the Alpex 4K LRF I use it with the Solaris SRX V2 laser IR and it has a cracking picture, but of course everyone has their own preference as to what they prefer.
Evening Karl. I’m not touching mine😂. It works well enough for me the way it is,but it is only months old. Just actually came home after looking for a buck and I’m still amazed at the clarity in near pitch darkness without any ir source…. But I’m not a tech wizard so I don’t even know how to fully use the menu as it is now.
@@mfloutdoors to scared Karl 😂.. I haven’t got time to get out for deer at the moment but I had a meeting with Forestry and they’ve waved their finger at me to get my cull numbers up… It ain’t going to happen 😂
Yes I fully understand Steve its really hard juggling time coming up to and during the season, hope its all going well for you mate, good luck with the rest of the season.
Looks like a good ballistics calculator within the HIK scope. A couple of questions - where do you get the BC for the ammo you use ? And does that BC value need to be very accurate - or is a ball-park value usually good enough ?
The ballistic coefficient for the ammo I get from the ammo manufacturers. Things like the muzzle velocity I chronograph myself. All data needs to be as accurate as possible when putting the figures into the ballistics calculator for it to work correctly. You may have to tweak some settings just to bring it spot on. Hope that helps.
@@mfloutdoors Cheers Karl - I keep finding I'm often high or low unless I input BC values that are wildly different from published values. And then the calculator is often only accurate over limited ranges... 😕
Try doing a test profile if you don't want to alter the one you have set up, instead put in all the figures as they should be into the BC and then try altering the scope hight value up or down slightly. I have done this before to bring the POI into line at different distance. It may work for you.
I haven’t updated at all since the scope was purchased. Watching your video the poa seems quite sensitive to angle. Can the adjustment with angle be turned off? The image looks much improved in night mode from what I can see from your video, not as pixelated at high mag. Is that your impression looking through the scope compared to earlier firmware?
Hi Paul, no you cannot turn off the BC from calculating angle. Yes the picture is improved from what I can remember from the original firmware. The picture is also helped by a good quality IR. Hope that helps. Thanks for commenting and hope you enjoyed the video.
I have the 4K LRF too Karl and not done any updates, as I'm an " If it ain't broke, don't fix it" kinda guy. Liking the green filter though, so my give it a go when I switch it to the rimfire ?.
I'm an update freak 😂 It's easy to do and I have had no problems with any of the updates to be honest, I think it went well over the top last time, really all people didn't like was the change in the way it zoomed. I had no problem with poi or BC at all. 👍🏻
Someone sent a message to be published on this video and for some reason when I passed it for publishing it disappeared, if your message has not shown up on here please send it again so I can publish it, apologies to whoever it was, not sure what happened.
Done all the updates, never had an issue. I think most are user error.... 😅 Same with any product, there is literally 10s of thousands of these units in circulation. It's inevitable that a few will go wrong. That's just life. But Hik has been quick to "rectify" the issues sometimes users where having.
Thx for u sharing with us ❤
Thank you for watching 👍🏻

Thanks for the video, I would say just remember to press restore after the update, speaking from experience lol.

Strange wonder why it did that, mine was fine, but as long as yours is working correctly after a restore that's all that matters.
