I don't want to sound like some kind of apologist or super-fan of this game (though I did enjoy it, at least a little), but to clear things up, the reason characters talk about how you can't clone Jedi (and some other parts not mentioned in the review) are all there to put doubt in your mind as to whether Starkiller is actually a clone, or just the same guy brought back to life and tricked into thinking that he's a clone so that he's more easily controlled. Though the story can be a little... confusing, I thought that part, at least, was interesting.
Jon Berry I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think the whole point of Darth Vader running away and making the clones attack you (aside from the real-world reason padding out the length of the fight) was to make you, Starkiller, feel replaceable and useless- like, oh, you're just another clone, look how many clones I have!
Unfortunately, they do set up that existential crisis thing but never actually do anything with it. We never get a concrete explanation for why it was possible to clone him and not other jedi. It seriously feels like the game was originally supposed to have about twice as much story content, but got rushed out early in an unfinished state
EvanMe That kind of stuff happens all the time. Video games often don't get the respect they deserve and end up way worse than what they could have been.
I really hate the cameos in these expanded universe things. It really makes you feel like each planet is no bigger than a set or a sound stage where all the stuff happens and all the characters live. Stupid fanservice.
Yeah, I think that might be one of the reasons for the continued love for the KOTOR games. As far as I know, there isn't a single character from the films that makes an appearance, but both games are excellent.
I feel like you missed the plot of the game thats why you didn't like it. You mentioned your stalking Juno which is weird because he isn't the same person and how everyone says its impossible to clone a jedi but Vader does, well thats the point, the player doesn't really know if Starkiller is a clone or not he might be THE STARKILLER and can't remember it. Also Juno loved him too so its kinda like the 6th Day movie were even if its a clone of Starkiller he is exactly the same, same thoughts, same looks, same feelings.
Why is the main character of this game (and for that matter, every character after the original trilogy) a thousand times more powerful and skilled than Luke Skywalker?
Luke has the most potential out of anyone. The problem he hasn't had very good training. I mean had Obi-wan training him for a few days and then Yoda for another few days. Beyond that he's pretty much self taught so it makes sense he isn't as skilled as he could be by Return of The Jedi. Give him a few more years of dedicated practice and he'll probably be a beast.
Even so, he becomes the leader of the Jedi in Star Wars: Jedi Knight. If Star Wars was made with the special effects we have today, it would have been more of a flashy badass. =)
AgeOfSuperboredom True, but he didn't defeat the empire through physical might. He defeated Vader sure, but that was only because Vader didn't see him coming and couldn't respond to the sudden onslaught of fast power strikes. Luke was really fighting like a crazed wild man in that scene. The emperor was stopped by Vader only after Luke managed to appeal to his father's better nature. Had Vader not stepped in Luke would have been killed and the empire would have won.
+Shiny Vaporeon Couldn't agree more as the Wii version isn't a port but made from the ground up to suit the systems strengths. It's actually the best version of the game.
*Honestly my favorite Star Wars game I ever played*

My go to attack was adding lightning to saber combos because it stunned enemies. There is one story paradox in the Endor DLC which I find really interesting. Much like the FU1 Hoth DLC, the Endor DLC continues from the FU2 dark ending. In the Endor DLC Leia references Luke's death on Hoth, but FU2 itself continues on from the FU1 light ending so it consists of two mutually exclusive story lines.
The story of this game sounds like really bad fan fiction. You're a secret, cool, handsome dark jedi with two lightsabers who is also WAY more powerful than all the other jedi (even Darth Vader) and you're lusting after a girl who "just doesn't understand you".
Fair review apart from a few points of lacking knowledge. This game is a spectacle fighter, as some call them, and can't really be compared to something like Castle Crashers without looking silly. A closer comparison would be Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, both games with long and spectacular fight scenes, hence the name. And also the comparison to fighting games was just...wrong =/ the finishers are done in what's known as a quick time event or QTE, a scripted event popularized by God of War and abused to sickening levels by games like Ryse: Son of Rome.
dnklr you are aware that Devil May Cry which you're comparing this too, has combo's similar to Street Fighter that allow you to chain off of hit stuns and with a large variety, making your statement kind of pointless in some regards?
luca13knt I assure you I did not, it's also a better tern than "character action" which I saw mentioned somewhere else in the comments. The fights are not hard, they're meant to be fast-paced and flashy, with characters and weapons all over the place, not to mention crushing a tie fighter mid-flight. It's a spectacle, fun to watch and a bit of a power trip.
Ryse is one of my top 5 worst games I ever played in my life. That game is horrendous in every sense of the word. I hated Marius so much because he looked hideous!!
Mike...Okay for one thing; Even if Starkiller really was a clone, I don't get why him being interested in his original's love interest is creepy. He's the exact same guy. Same memories, same thoughts, same feelings, same everything. Of course he'd be interested in the same girl, and "stalk her out", as you put it. To him, even when he know's he's a clone, he's basically still Starkiller, not a clone. Because he the same guy, in his looks, memories, thoughts, feelings, powers, abilities and pretty much everything, so there's no reason to /not/ consider him to just be "Starkiller", even if technically he's not the same guy. As to whether Juno herself accepts him is her choice. You can't call him a creep for wanting her, when he's basically the same person, even if he knows he's technically not. Plus on that note, the story's supposed to imply that Starkiller ISN'T a clone anyway. Darth Vader tricked him into thinking he's a clone, so your point doesn't make any sense.
Starkiller's clone is actually Starkiller, if you read the novelisation you find out that Vader just manipulated his mind to make him think he's a clone, because all of the previous clones were either deformed or went insane after a few months
Mike those are called QTE's. It's not akin to any kind of fighting style, it's just a thing called quick time events that were popularized by the god of war games. And this game is a terrific example of a stale hack and slash game. The only variety they throw at you are the specific attack enemies, giants, and walkers in order to make sure the game has any challenge at all. You start out ridiculously overpowered, practically steamrolling everything in your path until they introduce the sith and lightsabar enemies. And when they do, they CONSTANTLY re-use them. I was completely bored by the half way point as I fought the same enemies, with the same death animations, over and over and over. The story isnt downright terrible. The clone is literally like starkiller in every way. Same personality, memories, and powers. He deserves to be with the women he loves who also loves starkiller, (the person who is not different in anyway than the clone), in return. There are some cool concepts like the constant hinting whether or not starkiller is clone, and the voice acting is top notch, but the ending is just plain sequel bait with the good ending being a cliffhanger, and the bad ending raising even more questions that go unanswered. The game is pathetically short as well. This game is just barely above average considering it's just so dissapointing in almost every regard besides the visuals which look almost next gen. 6/10
1Muzition1 He said became "Popularized" not invented and quite honestly, Resident Evil has always had a rather small fanbase compared to a lot of other series, and Shenmue is one of those games that virtually no one I meet IRL has ever played. On the other hand, I know hundreds of people that have played more than 1 God of War game. Also, best QTE action is in Asura's Wrath.
HunterX57 ? Maybe in this generation not many are aware of Shenmue. But RE? Small fan base? Maybe now with the flooding of zombie games but RE was/is a HUGE franchise. They made multiple movies based on it. Much bigger than God of War in the grand scheme of things.
Never heard of this one, but this game was released around 2010, just 3 years before Disney decided to shut down LucasArts for good. The last LucasArts game was "Star Wars Kinect" in 2012, the game that James & Mike did posted on Cinemassacre's site, but it wasn't up on TH-cam, but it has that moment where it has the song based on "Ridin' Solo" called "I'm Hans Solo". This game was also released 2 years before Disney acquired LucasFilm, and I can't wait to see a new "Star Wars" movie coming out next year, and I've heard that the new title for "Episode 7" is called "The Force Awakens". I hope if this movie comes out next year, James & Mike will talk about a new "Star Wars" movie which is now made by Disney and LucasFilm.
mike seems to balance out AVGN quite well, with informative reviews and AVGN reviews/character/commentary , and let's plays makes for a nice channel here with a little variety for everyone
I always thought he was not really a clone but the original Starkiller who Vader had tricked into thinking he was a clone. Hence the "You can't clone a Jedi." Reference.
"No One can clone a jedi" there's a number of Clone Jedi that disagree with that statement. Also his pronunciation of various powers and......siths, kinda irks me, but that's just me personally, nothing wrong with the video.
I'm pretty sure there's no cloned Force-users (who maintain any significant level of Force Sensitivity) in the canon, chronologically, until Galen Marek. The closest there is (that I am aware of), happens shortly thereafter in the Thrawn trilogy, with Palpatine using the force to transfer himself into cloned blanks using Sith rituals (which whither within a year), and Thrawn cloning C'Baoth and Skywalker. (And while the Thrawn trilogy tends to be looked upon favorably in the EU, the cloning of force-users aspect is/was not without controversy).
ShadowWolfRising Sorry, misread that part, but it still takes place in the same span of time as TFU (along with the X-clones; the 20 years leading in to Episode 4), which, up until that point did not see viable force-sensitive clones. Also, considering the state of Rebel and Jedi affairs, and being a new technology exclusive to the Sith (who tend to not be particularly forthcoming with any information, let-alone franchise secrets), it makes it very unlikely that anyone other than Vader or Sidious knew that successful, viable force-sensitive clones were being created. Especially when the experiment ultimately ended in failure for the Siths' purposes, and saw the destruction of all 6 clones. Dorsk was 40 years later.
best star wars games I've played (on pc) are jedi knight II and III. wish I would have not bought/played force unleashed II. In jedi knight I felt like a jedi with a powerful light saber. In force unleashed I felt like a total psycho with a stick.
"And this, kids, is a fine example of a pointless argument." "But why won't he change his opinion?" "Same reason you won't, Jimmy." "I'm Alex." "Oh, sorry Alex, here's the girl you were talking about from the party..."
Man I loved the Force Unleashed story and games. I do feel the problems with the 2nd game though and the 1st game had gameplay issues. If you were to take the 1st games story and mix it with the 2nd game's engine it would of been so great.
I don't think he's a clone, and why he goes after Juno is both the fact he doesn't fully believe he's a clone and, dude, HE LOVES HER she is the main reason Starkiller went to the lightside and why the other clones fail! And I know there's a unlockable thing that "reveals" if he is a clone, but that could just be a deleted scene they just couldn't add. Also the book leans more to him being the real Starkiller from what I hear, whether he's a clone or not Idk but the game never confirms it (Vader lies, keep that in mind) as true or false. Maybe if game 3 ever gets made, atm it's anyone's guess. EDIT:And yeah you even fight clones along side Vader, and it's my personal theory the enemies you fight (mostly the ones who uses 2 sabers like Starkiller does and the one ones who are strong in the Force) are in fact clones of Starkiller. But if that's true...well the ones you fight later with Vader which sorta points to this theory are released I assume before they were finished.
You hit the nail on the head Mike when you said 'uninspired' that's how I felt playing this game a big shame how this game was clearly made so short so you have to buy the DLC levels, for which there was only 1!
Mike's reasoning for not liking the story, I think, is kind of wrong because as you proceed throughout the game it insinuates that he may actually not be a clone but the original Starkiller. Unfortunately since the game didn't do well I highly doubt we'll ever get a Force Unleashed 3 to find out. Oh and as a side note I have Force Unleashed 2 for both the 360 and Wii and I have to admit that I had more fun with the Wii version and thought that it was actually better then the 360/PS3 version. What I really liked about the Wii version was that it wasn't a downgraded port but that it was it's own game, made from the ground up, for the Wii. It's the exact same story with the same cinematics (and exclusive in game cut scenes that expands on the story a little more) but the level designs and assets are all completely different, and the game itself is actually a bit longer then the 360/PS3 version. The 360/PS3 version clocks in at about 4 to 4 1/2 hours while the Wii version will take about 6 hours to complete. Not a huge difference but the extra length is appreciated. The boss battles are also completely different. You still have the same bosses found in the 360/PS3 version but they are fought against and taken down in completely different ways. It also has 2 exclusive force powers which are pretty cool (force rage and force sight) and a 4 player multiplayer mode that's pretty much Smash Bros but with Star Wars characters (which is nothing but a plus and pretty damn fun). Red Fly Studio did a great job on it.
***** Well I wouldn't say that he likes to be spoon fed but he's definitely entitled to his opinion, I just think his reasoning for disliking the story is weird. Ah well to each his own. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
I used to own the Wii version as well and i can tell you that it's the BEST version of the game by far!!!Starkiller has more abilities and the lightsaber combat system was WAY better than the other versions. Not to mention that Dagobah was actually a level in the game not just a cutscene. The graphics weren't as good but they still looked cool to me.
LegendOfLegends19100 Yeah I absolutely agree. The Wii version was better in pretty much all aspects but the graphics, which was a given of course. Though I will say that the graphics on the Wii version are REALLY good compared to the rest of the Wii's library. It's definitely no slouch, that's for sure. Yeah and that was cool that Dagohba was actually a level in the Wii version and not a just cut scene! When I got there and realized it was a full blown level my reaction was "Awesome!" since I thought it was just going to be a cut scene like the 360/PS3 version. On another side note I also feel the same way about Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for the Wii. It's EXACTLY like Force Unleashed 2. Not a downgraded port but built from the ground up for the Wii. Completely different level designs, assets, boss battles, exclusive cinematics (along with all the original ones), different powers for the characters, 3 exclusive characters (along with the original roster), etc. I own it for both 360 and Wii and I like the Wii version just as much as the 360 version. N-Space did a really good job on the Wii version. If you played and like MUA2 for the 360/PS3 and haven't played the Wii version you should definitely give it a shot.
Actually, if you know all the backstory really well, you will find that the story is actually really in-depth. Plus, the comic version is from Boba Fett's point of view. It helped me understand a lot better.
Yeah I'd say it's a pretty good time, story is complete and utter shit and the game is not close to being as long as Mike's dick(seriously though holy fucking shit is that actually his dick in that picture!?!?). Honestly I've always enjoyed both FU games just for the ability of being able to fuck everything up with force powers, shit is super fun. Oh yeah, the story in the first FU was pretty good actually, this one is more fun to play though.
You must not understand the game very well. Star killer doesn't know if he's a clone and neither does the player. You're goal is not only to find juno but to figure out if you're a clone, kota says you aren't because a Jedi can't be cloned but Vader tries to convince you that you are.
Mike fails to mention there was supposed to be a third game, so everything that happened over the course of this game would have made sense. Even though they said he was clone, I think there was still the chance that he wasn't actually a clone and Vader was just playing him again. For that reason, I don't think many of Mike criticisms for the game are justified, because they were pointing to him not being a clone (which would have been revealed in the third installment).
Great review Mike, I never played The Force Unleashed 2 but I did enjoy the first game (as mindless as it was) it's a shame that they didn't keep the Lord Starkiller Sith Armor from the alternate ending to the first game for the DLC to the sequel.
Kiristovai Well in a way he also saved the entire universe. If he didn't destroy the death star the Empire would continue to expand infinitely until they were literally in control of the universe. How could anyone stand to defend against a Death Star? It just wouldn't be possible without Luke's involvement.
I like Mike's reviews. They are not pretentious and he just puts forward his thoughts on the game in a straight forward manner, without the unnecessary over the top shit.
Great review. I personally liked the game, probably because I was delved so deep into the story line of its predecessor, but overall, I would say while this game does lack some things, i still enjoyed it. Good game
I disagree a bit, I found the plot of this Star Wars game more logical and enjoyable than all the movies put togheter! Starkiller is a great character and the gameplay is simple and fun without great demands. Dark and light side togheter, alternative universe..too awesome. To me.
I hate these games so much, and I hate Starkiller. He's a creepy, OP, complete Mary Sue of a character that completely clashes with canon. I'll stick to GOOD Star Wars games like KOTOR, SWTOR or Dark Forces II
Samael 11 Even as a "What if?" story it still makes no sense and breaks canon. If Starkiller is as powerful as the game suggests, HE should be the Chosen one, not Anakin. And why the fuck does Starkiller even exist, the Emperor was a strong believer in the Rule of Two, so it makes no fucking sense for Starkiller to be Vader's apprentice. On top of that, all the emotional significance of Luke and Leia being the last Jedi is butchered by this exceptionally powerful and awesome Starkiller not only being alive, but the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. And the story is in NO way, shape or form even close to as strong as the story in Episode II or III. Episode II and III had deep themes, relatable and flawed characters with interesting backstories and inner conflicts, interesting and deep stories and satisfying endings. Neither of the Force Unleashed games have any of those things. I would gladly take the prequels over those crappy fanfics anyday.
Wow, for someone so devoted to shitting on TFU by referencing the canon, you know surprisingly little about it... and defending the prequels does not strengthen any SW argument at all, except perhaps if the comparison is to the holiday special..
Samael 11 "defending the prequels does not strengthen any SW argument at all" Sure...That's why tons of film critics (Roeper, Ebert), beloved directors (Joss Wheedon, Peter Jackson, Kevin Smith), film professors at universities, and fans have all defended them. AND that's why they all have positive ratings on IMdB and Rotten Tomatoes. Your opinion is not fact.
Thanks for the review. I liked the first one because it got some a bad rep and it felt like it was only half a game and you had to buy the other half in tons of DLC. Your review basically let me see the whole game without having to play it and I don't regret skipping it but those alternate Endor scenes look awesome.
Great job Mike! TFU is something I'd be interested in hearing about but not playing so your review is perfect. Shame about the plot, seems pretty crummy. The extra parts on Endor look sweet. Cheers!
Like some others have said, the story is supposed to imply that TFU2 Starkiller isn't a clone, but the original brought back to life somehow. I can see how that'd get confusing, though.
I do really like mikes more casual look at games than James' more serious tone, its surprisingly refreshing something that's lacking in a lot of over channels and I can only hope he makes more!
> complains about repetitive and simple gameplay > suggests playing Castle Crashers, which is no better What even. Nostalgia blinds you way too much, Mike. Nice review either way.
The whole reason that the story blows and is short is because LucasArts was going to fire the lead programmer and designer for this game, and because of that they were like "fuck it push it out the door, we don't care."
He was in a sense reanimated by spirit as a clone and sought the love he never expressed because he died the second game makes perfect sense although he could've helped in the rebelion as well.
The best star wars game that really makes you feel like a jedi is Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. While you are overpowered you are still vulnerable at the same time. You have lots of different force moves and weapons at your disposal but you have to know to use them tactically. If you just run in hacking and slashing with a lightsaber, a lot of the time, you'll just get gunned down. I also like how the lightsaber in it actually acts like it does in the films, with most of the time, only one or two hits with a lightsaber kills. It also has the best lightsaber duelling in any star wars game. Most games the lightsaber acts more like a "lightclub" and you have to keep hitting your opponent many times to take their life bar down. In this, as mentioned, its 1 or 2 hits to kill, so its all about out manoeuvring and swiping your saber in the right direction to get past the enemy's block. This is much more like how lightsaber duelling should be.
I think with the whole clone thing, it's only suggested that Starkiller's a clone. It's like the 6th day...except if the Arnold we were following wasn't the clone.
That was a really good review. I actually enjoyed the TFU games... It's just a shame they made the 2nd one so short... I hope Starkiller features in the new up and coming Star Wars films!
What you fail to realize is that we don't KNOW that Starkiller is a clone. The whole plot is that Vader convinced him that he was, and he (along with Kota) doesn't buy it. It isn't conclusive as to which one he is, but it's kind of interesting for the player to decide for themselves whether he was a clone or simply a brainwashed Starkiller
So, the finishers for the big enemies aren't moves like in street fighter, they are just quick time events. It's just a "press button to kill enemy" prompt.
Also, there is a ton of in-actual-battle combos, many infusing lighting into attacks. Lightning force push, lightning lightsaber, lightning shield, etc.
Mike if you want to play the best Star Wars light saber combat game pick up Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. It came out in 2003 but still plays and feels satisfying. Easily the best depiction of Light saber combat in a game. (One strike kills, multiple stances and weapons, dismemberment, duels, combos and beautiful choreography.) You create your own Jedi and can play as a Twi'Lek, Zabrak (Darth Maul), Kel Dor (Plo Koon), Rodian (Greedo) or Humans. When you create your own jedi you also create your Light Saber, choose color, stance (fast, strong, balanced) duel wielding or the saber staff. Steam has it for $9.99. Check it out, you won't regret it.
Considering that the monster that he's killing is named "The Gorog" in that part that resembles the Balrog fight in Lord of the Rings, I'd say that's exactly what they're going for.
Maybe you can't clone a jedi, but can clone a sith. Thus hinting that maybe you're not the good guy you think you are. That makes sense to me considering what's been said in this video.
Why are people hating on this? i remember playing a demo of this on xbox360 years ago basically when i was bored with anything i played but now that i relook at this..this game looks amazing .
devilmikey00 The Wii version is actually 3 hours longer, and you get to fight Boba Fett as he escapes with Juno. The gameplay itself is also more fun, even if they had to tone certain things down to account for the weaker system; the Vader fight in particular is quite pathetic compared to 360 and PS3. They also added a Smash Bros. style multi-player, but its not that great.
Wow, Mike. You hit the nail on the head with this one. I complained about this game the entire time I played it, but it was mindless fun. I find it VERY inferior to the first one.
I still can't believe this game's graphics, especially considering this came out in 2010.
Those are some damn good graphics for a 360 game

I really hate the cameos in these expanded universe things. It really makes you feel like each planet is no bigger than a set or a sound stage where all the stuff happens and all the characters live. Stupid fanservice.
This is why I look at game reviews for more info about some games that I want to buy.
Yeah, I think that might be one of the reasons for the continued love for the KOTOR games. As far as I know, there isn't a single character from the films that makes an appearance, but both games are excellent.
Anghellik9 KOTOR takes place 4000 years in the past so i would certainly hope not :) although Vandar is obviously Yoda :/

isnt starkiller a sith?
He was born a jedi, trained as a Sith, betrayed by Vader, then since then has always been a Jedi.
jordan999fire ah ok thx for info
I feel bad for all the people who bought this game at launch. $60 for a 4 hour game is a ripoff.
It really is, even CoD can get more time out of it if you get a kick out of the muliplayer or a total completionist.
Calisto protocol would like to know your location.
DevilHunter1994 The problem is, HE was the one who ended up taking down the entire empire, despite being a very lame jedi.
Even so, he becomes the leader of the Jedi in Star Wars: Jedi Knight. If Star Wars was made with the special effects we have today, it would have been more of a flashy badass. =)
AgeOfSuperboredom True, but he didn't defeat the empire through physical might. DevilHunter1994 Like how it should have...DEATH TO THE REBELLION!
I really enjoy reviews done by Mike. Well don as usual!
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video!
Should do a part 2 for the Wii version, it had some cool mechanics and a different combat system.

Actually, the girl understands you. She's more than happy to hook up the moment she and you get together.

I don't why. but..
YOU MUST BE THE ONE WHO MADE THIS GAME!
Maybe.. :l
"Spectacle fighter"? What the actual fuck? You just made that up.
dnklr you are aware that Devil May Cry which you're comparing this too, has combo's similar to Street Fighter that allow you to chain off of hit stuns and with a large variety, making your statement kind of pointless in some regards?
luca13knt I assure you I did not, it's also a better tern than "character action" which I saw mentioned somewhere else in the comments.
The whole "no one can clone a Jedi" thing is supposed to make you doubt whether or not you're a clone.
God of War? How about Shenmue?
Bruno Fátima
Exactly. Also, I remember RE4 using them before GOW
HunterX57
?
Maybe in this generation not many are aware of Shenmue. But RE? Small fan base? Maybe now with the flooding of zombie games but RE was/is a HUGE franchise. They made multiple movies based on it. Much bigger than God of War in the grand scheme of things.
1Muzition1 RE4 isn't a hack and slash game with QTE-finishers, God of War is, TFU2 is.
Great review mike.
Thanks!
Yup, very nice.
Jumping on the short, positive comment train!
Umm LucasArts is not dead there just owned by disney! There currently doing Star Wars Rebels
mike seems to balance out AVGN quite well, with informative reviews and AVGN reviews/character/commentary , and let's plays makes for a nice channel here with a little variety for everyone
I always thought he was not really a clone but the original Starkiller who Vader had tricked into thinking he was a clone. Hence the "You can't clone a Jedi." Reference.
It is so nice to hear totally honest review.
Nowadays do not have a lot of critics who are honest.
"No One can clone a jedi"
there's a number of Clone Jedi that disagree with that statement.
ShadowWolfRising
Sorry, misread that part, but it still takes place in the same span of time as TFU (along with the X-clones; the 20 years leading in to Episode 4), which, up until that point did not see viable force-sensitive clones.
Samael 11
only because of the Betrayal of one of his Hands.
before that, Palpatine and Vader were both pretty impressed with them.
ohh, and that Cuis article continues on, describing how cloning of Force-sensitives was incredibly problematic.
Samael 11
but doable
It's never really made clear wether starkiller is a clone or not, that's the whole point of the story, an identity crisis for the main character
best star wars games I've played (on pc) are jedi knight II and III.
wish I would have not bought/played force unleashed II.
In jedi knight I felt like a jedi with a powerful light saber.
In force unleashed I felt like a total psycho with a stick.
I still have hope for star wars battlefront new one and hope it is good but I enjoyed this game .
I also likes SWTOR :-P
until I reached that credit cap
Awesome review Mike please review "Five Night's At Freddy's" so that my friend can change his opinion about you
***** yeah but AVGN will only review games if they are at the 2000's
***** yeah but AVGN is soo epic when you watch all of this episodes starting with the Castlevania 2 game
***** all right but I am warning you
***** No change your opinion tho.
"And this, kids, is a fine example of a pointless argument."
"But why won't he change his opinion?"
"Same reason you won't, Jimmy."
"I'm Alex."
"Oh, sorry Alex, here's the girl you were talking about from the party..."
We'll just have to agree to disagree.
didn't read
***** It's all good. I respect that.
3:58 - Oh come on, THAT was funny! XD
Great review. I like how you don't give scores or star ratings to boil the game down to a single meaningless number. Keep up the great work Mike!
Brandon James Damn...
***** It's a picture on Facebook with James and Mike with Godzilla.
Mike looks like he has a massive dick in it. So yeah.
Yeah, i feel like force unleashed 2 had a.....wait, what? why is everyone talking about mike's dick? okay...*backs out of this sausage fest slowly*
ColeVecsion There's a picture where he's got a big sausage. So that's the story for you! :)
mikes dick is so 2011
Also, new Star Wars looks awesome. Seeing the Millennium Falcon in the trailer gave me chills.
Starkiller's goal (according to the book) is to save Juno from Vader.
Mike is Cinemassacre as James is Cinemassacre. I love both of 'em.
Great review Mike, I never played The Force Unleashed 2 but I did enjoy the first game (as mindless as it was) it's a shame that they didn't keep the Lord Starkiller Sith Armor from the alternate ending to the first game for the DLC to the sequel.
You did a great job with this review, Mike. Well done!
Saving the GALAXY was Luke's goal, not the Universe
Kiristovai
Well in a way he also saved the entire universe. If he didn't destroy the death star the Empire would continue to expand infinitely until they were literally in control of the universe. How could anyone stand to defend against a Death Star? It just wouldn't be possible without Luke's involvement.
@@LilyEmbargo The Yuuzhan Vong would probably put a stop to it eventually.
this game was a blast.jedi academy,force unleashed 1,2,star wars republic commando.good times.
I like Mike's reviews. They are not pretentious and he just puts forward his thoughts on the game in a straight forward manner, without the unnecessary over the top shit.
God of war plus Star Wars equals fucking awesome
GrypheonSteele 6
Great review. I personally liked the game, probably because I was delved so deep into the story line of its predecessor, but overall, I would say while this game does lack some things, i still enjoyed it. Good game
I've played and loved both. Your review assessment was spot on. Nice work
I disagree a bit, I found the plot of this Star Wars game more logical and enjoyable than all the movies put togheter! Starkiller is a great character and the gameplay is simple and fun without great demands. Dark and light side togheter, alternative universe..too awesome. To me.
Great Review, I like these reviews that Mike does. I hope we can see a lot more in the future.
I hate these games so much, and I hate Starkiller. He's a creepy, OP, complete Mary Sue of a character that completely clashes with canon. I'll stick to GOOD Star Wars games like KOTOR, SWTOR or Dark Forces II
YES! KOTOR is the best game ever made in my opinion.
Simon Nagriff I'd rather play as Bendak Starkiller!
The part with the falling monster is totally taken from the X-men Wolverine :Origins game, where you do the same against the sentinel.
Wow, spot on. Mike does such good reviews.
Force Unleashed was nothing more than poorly written Marty Stu bullshit that didn't even play well.
There's my review.
I sense a trek fan
+spideyknowsMC Your senses are as bad as when all the Jedi couldn't figure out Palpatine was a Sith.
***** (trek smell gets stronger) woah
horrible review
And then Rey comes along.
At least Starkiller had a Spartan training regimen inflicted upon him by Darth Vader and he had TWO Jedi parents.
Battlefront 2 was the pinnacle of star wars games, none canbeat its awesomeness.
Starkiller turned to the dark side? Yeah. I don't think you listened to anything about the plot
Great, well thought out review. It would be good to see more content from you Mike!
6:20 It's called a quick time event and they are never fun and usually ruin the gameplay.
I can see how that'd get confusing, though.
i felt the same way about this game. I still think that this game should of been a DLC instead of it's own game.
I do really like mikes more casual look at games than James' more serious tone, its surprisingly refreshing something that's lacking in a lot of over channels and I can only hope he makes more!
Number 1 was amazing, the sequel was the worst star wars game I have ever played, the story was so bad I don't consider it cannon to me
there's an expansion of this game where you take Vader's place and recruit Luke Skywalker as your apprentice, that's so 10/10
> complains about repetitive and simple gameplay
> suggests playing Castle Crashers, which is no better
What even. Nostalgia blinds you way too much, Mike. Nice review either way.
Those diving parts seem like every hack n slash of that generation had them.
Great review
The whole reason that the story blows and is short is because LucasArts was going to fire the lead programmer and designer for this game, and because of that they were like "fuck it push it out the door, we don't care."
He was in a sense reanimated by spirit as a clone and sought the love he never expressed because he died the second game makes perfect sense although he could've helped in the rebelion as well.
Frankly you can do most of this shit in Star Wars Jedi Knight; Jedi Academy.
I want to see Cinemassacre review the Bayonetta games.
It was so strange hearing Mike describe QTEs that way...
"Your life is a lie!"
*I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE!*
I think with the whole clone thing, it's only suggested that Starkiller's a clone. It's like the 6th day...except if the Arnold we were following wasn't the clone.
Unleashed 1 was by far a fucking amazing game
That was a really good review. I actually enjoyed the TFU games... It's just a shame they made the 2nd one so short... I hope Starkiller features in the new up and coming Star Wars films!
Huh, maybe in one of the many planned spin off films.
+Reb I think he and his story became non canon.
@@spookyskelebloke5388 I'm from the future, you were so wrong lol
i don't know about all of YOU guys but i think personally think both wii versions were WAY better, well the second one in terms of graphics...nah.
Mike, you're a great game reviewer. This was a pretty good video, keep up the good job, you and james!
I have the collector's edition with the useless Starkiller USB. It was a lot of mindless fun back on the day, and it stills stands out as that.
What you fail to realize is that we don't KNOW that Starkiller is a clone. The whole plot is that Vader convinced him that he was, and he (along with Kota) doesn't buy it. It isn't conclusive as to which one he is, but it's kind of interesting for the player to decide for themselves whether he was a clone or simply a brainwashed Starkiller
that falling battle scene also reminds me of the falling ridley fight in metroid prime 3
I swear I hate alternate bad endings of star wars it kind of bothers me
Mike if you want to play the best Star Wars light saber combat game pick up Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
Saving the galaxy Mike, saving the galaxy.
Considering that the monster that he's killing is named "The Gorog" in that part that resembles the Balrog fight in Lord of the Rings, I'd say that's exactly what they're going for.
This game was great. I still go back once in a while to look for the holocrons and stuff
Maybe you can't clone a jedi, but can clone a sith. Thus hinting that maybe you're not the good guy you think you are. That makes sense to me considering what's been said in this video.
I got this for Christmas and let's just say I was probably better off getting frozen reindeer shit over this game.
Why are people hating on this? i remember playing a demo of this on xbox360 years ago basically when i was bored with anything i played but now that i relook at this..this game looks amazing .
I got this game right when it came out, and I agree with all of your points.
Damn that sucks. 60 bucks for like 4 hours if you are lucky.
devilmikey00 Yeah. If you could get it for cheap, however, it's a lot of fun.
devilmikey00
The Wii version is actually 3 hours longer, and you get to fight Boba Fett as he escapes with Juno. The gameplay itself is also more fun, even if they had to tone certain things down to account for the weaker system; the Vader fight in particular is quite pathetic compared to 360 and PS3. They also added a Smash Bros. style multi-player, but its not that great.
Yeah the wii version is really different and In some ways better like the story is longer
Wow, Mike. You hit the nail on the head with this one. I complained about this game the entire time I played it, but it was mindless fun. I find it VERY inferior to the first one.
Wanna play a good TPS SW game? Jedi Knight 2. Wanna play a good HnS TPS game? Darksiders.
I wish they'd make a game series like Force Unleashed following the storyline of the Original Trilogy.
🎵He's the angry video game🎶 Matei? Where did James go!?
The reason that TFU2 is the way that it is is because it's developers were pressured by Lucas to release a sequel within a year
I remember hating choppy combat that seems to stop after each attack for split second XP
I think it's hinted that Starkiller's clone wasn't a clone and actually WAS Starkiller.
