Norms passing has really had an effect on me, much more than I would have thought considering I never even got the chance to see or meet him. Norm had a way of connecting with his audience that made him seem like a lifelong friend. I love you Norm!

I'm German and without TH-cam I probably wouldn't even know who Norm McDonald was. Same goes for greats like George Carlin, Bill Hicks and Mitch Hedberg. To think that I'm only 34 and tons of my favorite comedians are already dead (RIP Bob Saget), is a really odd feeling. We understand pretty clearly that the internet has become a sort of prism which changes the structure of the public into all its distinguishable streams, creating many parallel cultures living side by side, but to think that the preservation of colored high resolution images of almost every culturally meaningful act will actually be able to transport people into cultures across the barriers of time is rather new. Imagine watching interviews of Mozart and performances of Liszt. They have been lost to time forever and only live on in the form of paper and musical academic tradition. Yet what the future will hold for generations born hundreds of years from now - and just like people are into old jazz, old country and classical music, there will always be fans of a certain era within a culture - is nothing short of the entire cultural fund of a world that has been gone for hundreds of years. The implications of societies being made up of individuals who have almost no common cultural ground will lead to a complete reorganization of a global public sooner or later. It's a frightening chance for humanity and it is all caused by people who watch some old comedy videos on TH-cam and those who upload it for clicks.

Norm was my best friend. I used to hear his voice most of my day. Id drive my car and listen to his TH-cam bits. Id shower and play some norm Macdonald live clips. He was with me everyday for about 2-3 years strong. I’m glad you can still be here norm in my ear. You’ll never be forgotten.

"and they look like white clouds, and nothing else.." CHILLS

Norm was the boy in the Tiny White Coffin. He was the boy fighting courageously against a terminal illness. He was also himself in the story, having confronted death, he walked alone down that long black road and never saw things the same again- just white clouds and nothing more. Damn he was brilliant.

I think “Tiny White Coffin” is one of the most inexplicably hilarious, and original stories I’ve ever heard. I’ve rewatched this half a dozen times, and it seems to make me laugh harder each time. RIP Norm.

Now that we know he was fighting cancer for ten years this interview is even more incredibly sad! But at least it was a draw!

Of course the 'author interview' for his absurdly hilarious "memoir" would also be used as a medium for expressing his comedic talent. Just brilliant.
