It's probably just me, but I find it crazy that we are watching 2 dead people talk to one another and laugh with one another when they were both still alive. It's as if we managed to freeze time so that we can actually keep our fondest memories of people. The thought is eerie, but truly amazing. We are one step away from time travel. One day we will be able to put ourselves into these moments and sit amongst them as if we were really there. Just thinking out loud
There are many who believe that we could be living in a computer simulation right now. Perhaps by the year 3000 they find a way to do such a thing and they're all watching us "do our thing" right now, like a real SimCity
Its very sad listening to Norm and Larry talk about death. Norm's laugh after talking about dying peacefully is heartbreaking. Looking back on this interview and others, I've been seeing more and more instabces like this. Norm lived his life honestly, always inciting laughter and respite from darkness. He is my hero. I admired him as a man and as a comic. But knowing what I know now, I can see that he was struggling with darkness. I like to believe Norm found peace years before he died. May he forever be remembered. People you know in you life may be going through the same or similar events and you may not even know. We should look to Norm as an example as to what to do; try to make people happy, through either a joke or an act of kindness. Rest in peace Norm, you are my hero.

@@kcbh24 Norm at best was mid battle here and Larry was 80+. 5 years is very little time to have. In Norm’s case the last 15% of his life was battling cancer.

He did career best work (his podcast), wrote a great memoir, put in several classic tv appearances, voiced pigeons and holes and blobs from outer space, ran a fantastic and odd twitter account, gambled constantly, did stand up across the country week after week...

There is a really haunting moment starting at 24:10 and finishing at 24:18 when, having just been asked what he would like to be remembered for, I think you can actually see him briefly caught off by the direct pertinence of the question to his situation. He recovers masterfully. So saddened by his passing. Rest in peace and rise in glory, Norm Macdonald.
He was a kind soul but pandered to the fans at times and tried to read the audience which he admits he failed at a few times. Every gay joke was followed by an interview making sure the numbskulls who might believe he disliked them, knew he didn't, same with homeless or women or minorities. Most of those people though didn't read the written interviews (so many good ones in Times, Variety, Wash Post) where he was thoughtful, sweet and honest. Even Trump whom he didn't like, he gave a pretty scathing interview and then took some of it back, making it seem like he was just a joke, but not dangerous. He was afraid when he got too honest, it scared him.
The little smirk on Larry's face; the look Norm gives the producers with that little chuckle. Man, that little moment has a tidal wave behind it 🥲 miss you Norm, RIP.
This half hour interview flew by, I wanted more. Larry, an excellent interviewer, and Norm, an excellent guest. He showed how deep and humble he is in this interview.
His “deeply closeted” joke is truly one of his all-timers, because it never fails to confuse and catch the recipient of that joke completely off guard. Norm was the best.
I hate grieving over people I don't know. But I truly adore Norm Macdonald, and I miss his brilliance and decency. Or so the Germans would have you believe.
@@andrewthomas891 Kitchener Leslie was my uncle, from my cousins side of the family. Norms uncle had relations with my uncles girlfriend years back, Uncle Kitch never got over it. We all warned him about dating the prettiest girl on the farm.
To me the part where I get teary eyed is when he makes plans for the future saying he'll be Larry's apprentice. He knows they both won't have time for that, but, as often is the case, the thought alone brings him happiness. And that's enough. That and, of course, the hypocrisy. Love you, Norm.

Yeah, he seems like someone who's really relate-able. Even though he's lived a life none of us could even imagine. He seems like he's so smart he's not afraid to act dumb, where as a lot of comedians try to show they're the smartest person in the room.
I’ll always think of these Larry King interviews when it comes to Norm. It’s just a level of realness and depth seldom seen in comedians today. RIP Mr. Macdonald, you will be missed by your millions of adoring fans. Thank you for all you’ve done for comedy and your audiences alike.

After knowing how ill he was, nine years with cancer, this was like a testament to who Norm really was! Norm was telling everybody who Norm really was! This is a good show and glad I saw it!
its an odd re-contextualization of the last 9 years of his life for those of us who are still here to reflect on it, what little we thought we knew about his comedy and how he presented himself in public and what we might ponder knowing after the fact.

There are a lot of comedy styles, many flavours, some the same. But this man stands alone. There is a special kind of audience for this man. One of kind. R.I.P. Mr. McDonald.
So much more to know about Norm than I was aware. A thinker, a believer of humility and kindness,, and an intellectual in my view. Well read, and internalized the bleakness of Russian literature. I loved his description of death and viewing pictures before being born and not being terrified...... What a peaceful gift those words are. Thank you Norm for being ambitious enough to allow us to receive your significant wisdom.
5:48 seeing both talking about facing mortality is hard now that we lost both of them this year. It's incredible to watch two immense personalities talking about something so human and inevitable as death in such different ways is incredible, from an agnostic and a faithful perspective.

It's funny to think this aired just five years ago, with both Larry and Norm discussing the prospect of death, and neither of these gentlemen are with us any longer. Both, however, left a legacy of good work and touched the lives of many. We're blessed to have this record of their exchange.
How both these men passed in the same year shows the kind of humor the universe has. Luckily for Larry, he won't be forgotten for a long time. RIP Larry and Norm.
This is quite an incredible interview. Very rarely that I watch an interview of an individual that makes me feel fascinated by him, who truly doesn't disappoint by shallowness at any point. He speaks abnormally honestly and clearly is a thinker who contemplates the questions of life very hard.
I could listen these two talk for hours and hours. What a nice and charm interview, Larry doing bits with Norm. Man, so sad for everything that we are not gonna hear from now on, and so thankful for the hours in youtube to enjoy these voices endlessly, frozen in time.
@ 7:15 Norm tells how he had a conversation with his doctor about getting a shot to be put to sleep and eventually you don't wake. When I first saw this prior to Norm's passing, I didn't think much about it. In retrospect, this is chilling to realize he did have this conversation with his doctor over concerns of his suffering at the end.
Larry came out with a great line after they were talking about death and cancer before the first break. He said 'We hope we havent depressed you. When we come back, we'll be talking about major mental illness. Stay with us'.....Brilliant
Norm was such a tremendous talent, and even more so, such an intelligent individual. This interview truly shows a different side of his mind. We sure did lose a special person. I truly miss him, and didn’t even know him.
Two deceased men talking about death. Norm's death hit me hardest because I think he still had so much to give us. Larry lived a full and long life, much longer than most had expected. RIP gentlemen.
When Norm says, "It's all gone," knowing that which we know now... so innocent. Beautifully heartbreaking. My heart is broken. Norm, you are my lifetime's Elvis. Forever will I mourn the loss of your talent and the things you might have said. I am now part of the multitudes who cry for the absence of something I never actually had in the first place. Leave it to you to create that dichotomy now within me.
I was having really bad terrible anxiety and really a huge fear of death in 2019 and I watched Norm for comfort and this interview I watched and it was poignant. There was something warm and human about him. He did believe in more and so do I...so I hope you are elsewhere now, looking down at Larry King below lol.
I was sad when I heard Larry died, but when I heard about Norm it really hurt my heart. I never met the man, but he was a very comforting presence in my life for many years, and I cried for him. Love you always Norm ❤️

After knowing how ill he was, nine years with cancer, this was like a testament to who Norm really was! Norm was telling everybody who Norm really was! This is a good show and glad I saw it!
its an odd re-contextualization of the last 9 years of his life for those of us who are still here to reflect on it, what little we thought we knew about his comedy and how he presented himself in public and what we might ponder knowing after the fact.
Norm is the best interview, his stuff with Letterman is classic.

Infact Norm probably set him up to respond exactly the way he did. And Norm´s not a zen master he´s a all time great comedian which is more impressive if you ask me.

So much more to know about Norm than I was aware. A thinker, a believer of humility and kindness,, and an intellectual in my view. Well read, and internalized the bleakness of Russian literature.
I loved his description of death and viewing pictures before being born and not being terrified......
What a peaceful gift those words are. Thank you Norm for being ambitious enough to allow us to receive your significant wisdom.
5:48 seeing both talking about facing mortality is hard now that we lost both of them this year. It's incredible to watch two immense personalities talking about something so human and inevitable as death in such different ways is incredible, from an agnostic and a faithful perspective.
Norm is so pure. I love seeing him being real like this.

It's funny to think this aired just five years ago, with both Larry and Norm discussing the prospect of death, and neither of these gentlemen are with us any longer.
Both, however, left a legacy of good work and touched the lives of many. We're blessed to have this record of their exchange.

This is quite an incredible interview. Very rarely that I watch an interview of an individual that makes me feel fascinated by him, who truly doesn't disappoint by shallowness at any point. He speaks abnormally honestly and clearly is a thinker who contemplates the questions of life very hard.
I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that these two legends are no longer with us.
We're at the point of our lives when the people we always knew start dying one by one
I could listen these two talk for hours and hours. What a nice and charm interview, Larry doing bits with Norm. Man, so sad for everything that we are not gonna hear from now on, and so thankful for the hours in youtube to enjoy these voices endlessly, frozen in time.

@ 7:15 Norm tells how he had a conversation with his doctor about getting a shot to be put to sleep and eventually you don't wake. When I first saw this prior to Norm's passing, I didn't think much about it. In retrospect, this is chilling to realize he did have this conversation with his doctor over concerns of his suffering at the end.

Larry came out with a great line after they were talking about death and cancer before the first break. He said 'We hope we havent depressed you. When we come back, we'll be talking about major mental illness. Stay with us'.....Brilliant
Norm was such a tremendous talent, and even more so, such an intelligent individual. This interview truly shows a different side of his mind. We sure did lose a special person. I truly miss him, and didn’t even know him.
Norm's eyes are like little earth globes of innocence. His looks are so sincere. I feel like my eyes are always lying to people.

Two deceased men talking about death. Norm's death hit me hardest because I think he still had so much to give us. Larry lived a full and long life, much longer than most had expected. RIP gentlemen.
If I had my way, I'd have every single Norm fan watch this so the masses can see the intelligence and humanity behind his hilarity. This was great.

When Norm says, "It's all gone," knowing that which we know now... so innocent. Beautifully heartbreaking. My heart is broken. Norm, you are my lifetime's Elvis. Forever will I mourn the loss of your talent and the things you might have said. I am now part of the multitudes who cry for the absence of something I never actually had in the first place. Leave it to you to create that dichotomy now within me.

I was having really bad terrible anxiety and really a huge fear of death in 2019 and I watched Norm for comfort and this interview I watched and it was poignant. There was something warm and human about him. He did believe in more and so do I...so I hope you are elsewhere now, looking down at Larry King below lol.

I was sad when I heard Larry died, but when I heard about Norm it really hurt my heart. I never met the man, but he was a very comforting presence in my life for many years, and I cried for him.
