This song is so rich with influences from so many cultures, in the beginning you recognise the Turkish influence along with Greek rhythm, played in a Aromanians manner with Romanian lyrics and also Bulgarian, Serbian, Montenegro, Albanian influence. Can be the winner of covering all central and eastern Europe countries :))) Nice !
Once upon a time, there was a nation that has rich music variety and was influenced by Byzantine culture as it was sharing a common border and they were in constantly shifting relationship - from war to trading, from craft exchange to communal marriages. Centuries later the uptaking Ottoman power took after the weakened Byzantine. These Balcan people had new neighbors with whom they shared the same destiny of being occupied and influenced in any sense. In our modern History, due to post wars` division of land territory, these people ( Balkanian) tend to build new national self-awareness. This together with the names of our countries led us to forgetness of our cross paths in the past, of our own Balcan- Europen identity. We are the heart of Europe and we wear in our genes bits of its ancient history. Those bits start to speak occasionally when we listen to such music for example. And in those moments the well known inner truth that we are as one, arrises to the surface of our conscious. Then we feel by heart our brotherhood, Greetings, dear friends!

This song was written by Anton Pann, a Ottoman born (in a Bulgarian region during the Ottoman rule) Wallachian. He was a composer, musicologist, and Romanian-language poet. He is also very much beloved in Romania because he supported the 1848 revolutionary movement against the Russian and Ottoman administrations. This revolution eventually led to the Romanian national ideal and to the Independence from the Ottoman yoke in 1877.
That may be true, especially the part about Anton Pann being born under Ottoman rule, because this song is not written in the Romanian scale, but rather in a more eastern scale, which makes it more interesting that the regular Romanian folk songs written following the local rules of composition, which are a bit dull
@@vasileseicaru8740 not true, as a romanian musician i can tell you that this is 100% the rules of composition. this version of the song is in they scale of d minor, with use of the diminished second degree, which is extremely common in romanian music. romanian music commonly uses the phrygian, dominant phrygian scales, but mostly natural and harmonic minor with a lot of chromatic ornamentation, especially heavy use of the diminished second degree, like in the phrygian scale. this particular trait is common in like 99.9% of all romanian music. what makes this song sound different is the rhythm, which is not as common in romania as in other balkan countries, but it is still fairly commonly found in our music over here. romanian music overall, and romanian culture overall is heavily ottoman influenced because of their reign over our lands. its not just anton pann that is influenced, it is the entire culture

'Cause it's been a while Since last night when I've been waiting outside Walking around your door And waiting. Time goes by, My shirt gets colder, The moon has hidden away, I am caught in the rain. Under the projecting roof, water is dripping on me, My long coat is getting wet, I don't care about my overcoat As much as I care about my waistcoat. 'Cause this is the first time It's been worn And if you don't believe me Open the door to see for yourself. The first time I heard this, I thought it was an Albanian song. Specifically Central & South Albanian. Romanians & Albanians both have Aromanians in common, so then I realized why the song sounded so eerily familiar. nu, bunicul a venit pe tancul sovietic. Poti sa-mi dai mai multe detalii despre arnauti? Ma intereseaza subiectul. daca se poate sa imi dai si o adresa de facebook cu atat mai bine.Zi frumoasa!

Ty for information.

Greek Epirotic lol. A bunch of Orthodox chams and Aromanians.
The first time I heard this, I thought it was an Albanian song. Specifically Central & South Albanian. Romanians & Albanians both have Aromanians in common, so then I realized why the song sounded so eerily familiar. Albanian national Aromanians live mostly in the Central & especially South of Albania, and so some of the culture influences reflects this.
Also most of the Orthodox Albanians live there with the Orthodox Aromanians.

nu, bunicul a venit pe tancul sovietic. Poti sa-mi dai mai multe detalii despre arnauti? Ma intereseaza subiectul. daca se poate sa imi dai si o adresa de facebook cu atat mai bine.Zi frumoasa!
