  • In this podcast episode, DARE coaches Michelle Cavanaugh and Aida Beco discussed various topics related to anxiety and phobias. They explored how the DARE response can be used to tackle specific phobias, such as the fear of throwing up. They emphasized that DARE is an overall mindset and not limited to specific techniques or strategies.
Michelle and Aida also talked about depersonalization, existential thoughts, engaging with anxiety and depression, and promoting positive thinking. Throughout this episode, they encourage acceptance and awareness of one's thoughts and feelings, while challenging the need for control.

For me it’s Tokophobia. I have a fear of pregnancy even though I want to have kids naturally! There’s no way to practice exposure for that unless you’re already in it 😢

I'd assume that practicing with visualization in a meditative state might help at least a little bit.

Have you ever heard of people getting more anxiety watching tv, or even youtube videos. It’s hard just sitting here, I also have fear when my Niece and nephew come over. I’m not sure why except I had some Trauma lately and as diagnosed with ptsd. I have a hard time sitting still. This is scaring me to have these phobias. Also since my panic attack in 40 years, I have some memory loss and it is hard for me to listen to music. I loved all this stuff before my panic attack, now I have daily anxiety even at home. I don’t feel comfortable anywhere.

The tv and TH-cam videos is most likely the content your watching or the quietness when your watching so your just stuck with your mind and thoughts. The other “phobia” isn’t fear that’s just anxiety. You don’t wanna seem weak or have an attack while they are there. So it’s turning into a fear cause you feel like you’ll lose control or look stupid. It’s not a phobia your just anxious. It’ll go away.

Not being in control of my mind ; feeling trapped. Like falling under general anesthesia.
I have a surgery coming up and I don’t touch drugs and if I occasionally have wine 🍷 I cannot have too much. Panic if too tipsy.
Hot rooms as well. ( I have a huge trauma as I lost my two babies in a house fire )
Yea elevators; I got lost in one when I was a toddler. I remember it. I got separated from my mom and lost for 1/2 hour.

I am so sorry for your losses. I will say I had surgery last year and never ever thought I would be able to get through it. Just do it, it's not that bad I promise you. Gen anesthesia knocks you out pretty quickly and you won't be in pain afterwards

@@mattchew4161 thanks so much. 🙏🏻 I know this logically. I just hope they can give me something via intravenous rather than gas mask. Ugh. Thank you for the encouragement; support and kind words. ❤️

@@UnacceptableTee They definitely will. They were more than accommodating for me when I went in for surgery and I literally was knocked out within 2 seconds after the medicine was given. It really isn't that bad I promise you. I had doubts of even going in for days and when I finally got in that chair to get prepared I just accepted it and all that anxiety went away
