    Trânsito isn't can exception since the n is silent so the s is in between vowels (ˈtɾɐ̃.zi.tu)

    Muito obrigada! This is very helpful, but what I still don't get is how to pronounce the s at the end of words, when it almost sounds like a -sh sound. Can you explain how to make that sound? I am also studying on my own so I really appreciate it! :)

    • @FalandoNissocomAndressa
      @FalandoNissocomAndressa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sophie! Sorry for the late reply, the S in the end has no rule, it is pronounced differently by people from different states! This "sh" sound is typical from Rio de Janeiro's accent! But there's no right or wrong really.

    Oi! I would like to ask when do you use "sh"? I got it that you say it when it's at the end of a word, but what about when it's in the middle? Muito obrigado por a ajuda e saudações do Bulgária.

    • @FalandoNissocomAndressa
      @FalandoNissocomAndressa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Olá! Sorry for this very late reply! We pronounce S like "sh" (here in Rio de Janeiro) when it is in the end of a word, like "mais, ônibus, lápis" and also when it's before a consonant, for example "mosca, festa, aposta". Do you get it?

    7:40 this is an example of chiado? I know that Carioca speak like this. Also some people from Pernambuco and some parts of the Norte. I think people from Portugal and maybe even other Portuguese speaking countries say it too. I have never heard people do Sul, SP or Bahia pronounce com chiado.

  • @amanin3952

    I will appreciate if you mention any example during your explanation to write the meaning in English ... IT would be much easier to grasp the pronunciation and the meaning at the same time . Thanks

    What about when s is the second letter in a word

    • @FalandoNissocomAndressa
      @FalandoNissocomAndressa  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isolamento (between vowels)
      Assadeira (double S)
      Psicologia (after consonant)
      Escola (in the end of a syllable)
      The S is the second letter in all these words and it sounds different in each one of them! Being the second won't say how it will sound, it depends on the other factors I've explained! :)

    if i use a rio accent in SP, will they make fun of me???? serious question because I'm going to SP but it's easier for me to do a Rio accent because I learnt European Portuguese first :(

    • @FalandoNissocomAndressa
      @FalandoNissocomAndressa  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually not. In these words the S is in the end of the syllable, the pronunciation will depend on the accent.
