Thanks so much to all the people that Liked this video. It means a lot to me. I actually wrote much of this teaching many years ago but never got around to making a video as I was honestly too discouraged with my experience on TH-cam and didn't feel many people would appreciate what I had to share. I took a chance though yesterday and made the video and it seems many people have connected with it. Thank you again.
To those of you who are Subscribed and are using the TH-cam mobile app and you want to be notified of future videos, you have to enable Notifications on your phone by going to Settings->TH-cam and setting Notifications on (assuming you have an Iphone).

I don't understand why anyone would dislike this video. I think its very good and thought provoking, which is something I value. Do you think what you are describing is the quality of empathy? One of the things people have said to me when I shared some negative feelings is "you shouldn't feel that way." I feel like saying well if I knew how to not feel this way I would not have a problem! Maybe we can't fully understand what another person is feeling as they experience this life but we can fully listen, as you said. We can think about it and try to imagine how we might feel were we in their situation. Is that maybe what it means to love your neighbor as yourself?
I imagine it can feel discouraging to prepare the message then record and upload the video and it seemingly goes un noticed. For whatever its worth, I for one, regret that I have but one like to give your videos. You may never know who you help but God does.
My faith tradition is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, more commonly know as Mormons. I hope you are not offended by that but I understand that many are. I have spent the last 10-15 years deconstructing my faith, deciding what to keep and what to discard. One of the things I hold to is the belief in and un paid ministry. That is why I was intrigued by your videos on unpaid ministry. You are the only non Mormon advocate for that I have come across. The Book of Mormon calls it priestcraft and defines it as, " He commandeth that there shall be no priestcrafts; for, behold, priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion." (2Nephi 26:29) Like I said I hope you are not offended, I just wanted to be transparent about where I come from. If you would rather I not quote LDS sources when I comment I will of course honor that. It is however what informs much of my thinking.

      Hi Tim,
Yes, it is very strange. I think around 12 people disliked it. I can see people disliking my vids about Israel and church issues, but this one where I'm encouraging people to be compassionate to people who are hurting? This is why I sense some of these people are just emotionally damaged or flat out selfish people who probably have experiences getting burdened by hurting or "complaining" friends and family.
In regard to your question, I’m referring to how one can manifest empathy / compassionate on someone who is hurting. But yes, I guess I am referring to the quality of empathy when I talk about feeling the pain of another etc. And yes, this can tie in with the idea of us needing to love others as ourselves.
Yes, it can be quite painfully boring to put a lot of time and thought into a video and get close to no feedback at all, whether positive or negative. I would actually prefer getting substantive negative feedback where someone challenges what I’m saying rather than nothing. I’m left wondering do people disagree with me and that’s why the don’t Like it? I like videos a lot even when not asked, especially if the creator has very little Likes, assuming I agree with their message and/or derive something from the video. But maybe people just find what I’m saying useless, or they simply don’t care to put the energy into clicking the Like button even though I kindly request it etc. As I think I shared before, its because of the lack of chemistry I seem to have on TH-cam that I just gave up making videos for years.
In regard to LDS, I sensed that was the church you’re from. Yes, I’d prefer you stick to quoting the Bible as that is the only ultimate authority all believers in the saviour and God Jesus Christ should be using to defend their spiritual beliefs.
And yes, I don’t like it when people tell me how to feel. It’s not their place to dictate to me how I should feel based on reasons I gave in the video.

Part of the problem with youtube is that there are so many options people have that the value of individual creators often gets diminished so that their work can just be easily dismissed by clicking off the vid, or people value it and due to apathy, simply don't feel the need to give any kind of positive feedback like a Like. People can forget and just treat creators like they are machines and not image bearers of God with feelings. But again, it goes back to apathy. Hopefully, one day I will have a normal community of believers I can meet with in person and won't be needing to deal with the confusing / jarring experiences I often get on youtube.

It appears a lot of people disliked this video. I wouldn't be surprised if they are christians as they can be some of the worst of comforters. They are good at rattling off spiritual cliches and can make people feel worse. Through my own experience and my conversations with other believers who have suffered a lot, the church can be terribly negligent in helping people who are struggling in life. Either way, I'd be curious what exactly they had a problem with in this teaching. The dislikes this video got helps to show how selfish people are and how oblivious people can be in regard to helping people in need.
Last year a christian I knew actually hung himself due to depression. I didn't know him well nor did I know he had depression. But he hid his depression apparently. Why would he hide his depression? I sense because he may have been surrounded by christians who had the typical low emotional intelligence and frowned upon christians who are depressed or were given to dismissing them and just telling them to "seek help" or "trust in God" and not being a good listening, affirming ear that they should be. But thankfully, this video has resonated with many people whose minds haven't been polluted with the typical spiritual stupidity and emotional retardation that plagues a lot of christianity today. Shame on the church and shame on it's corrupt, money hungry leaders.
