I’ve watched a few videos and I think they’re good. They feel like standard TH-cam video essays, but hey - at least they’re trying.
The sole reason I like RE 4, 5 and 8 its because of the treasures and gun upgrades. I like 8 the most as it combined the gun parts upgrade from RE 2 remake and RE 4 and 5 stats upgrade.
I feel Wesker's characterisation would benefit more from being explored in a Code Veronica remake rather than Resi 5. Maybe as that game's answer to separate ways.
Downsizing the number of QTEs would certainly be an improvement, and the inventory system could do with some work.

Code Veronica is far more deserving of a remake than RE5. Better story, better characters, better music just overall a better game.

@@RainCoatCultWhile I feel like RE5 is fine the way it is. It's not perfect but I think they need to take the time to step back. To remake some other RE games. I wouldn't mind that game getting one, it'll sell decently but not the level as the other ones. Regardless, I want to see remakes of other games. Take a break from the main line games.
I only want the villains to have more depth only if Wesker is still hilarious. To this day RE5 Wesker is one of my favourite villains ever. As to whether or not RE5 is going to get remade, given how divisive it is, I've always thought it'd make more sense to remake DMC1. DMC can't really go anywhere storywise right now, so remaking that first game always made sense to me instead of DMC6, especially since Hideki Kamiya said he wanted to remake it.
I am replaying Re5 right now and i really need better controls it was fine with me when it came out, it was fine with me when the Xbox one dropped and it was fine with me 3 years ago.
Idk what about me changed but i honestly need there to be an either/or relationship with guns and melee.
Guns feel good for a third person game that old and melee is hilariously awesome. But the whole stun them with guns and hit the contextual Melee button doesn't make any sense to me anymore and i misremembered the game i thought this was the Re you could go melee only

These are great suggestions. I honestly thought this was going to be in response to the stupid clickbaity stuff IGN and others have been discussing, so I was happy to see it was real ways to modernize it!

I would love if they added the ability to dodge like in re6 instead of having to rely on shitty jank ass qte bullshit, if they made the inventory not fucking suck dogshit, and if armor didn't fucking waste inventory space. Like wtf? RE4 didn't pull that bullshit on you. Also, like Yahtzee said, armor inside a pocket of your armor, what even?

Just modernize the action a bit. No need to go all the way like RE6 did, but moving while aiming and a dodge system would be great. Assuming they tweak the enemies to be more aggressive.
I don't know if I agree with making the villains more human. I quite like the over the top cheesy evilness of umbrella. That's part of the RE charm in my opinion.
Resident Evil 5 is a great game, it just doesn't feel like RE because there's barely any horror, only Body Horror
It suffers from constantly following the same protagonists in a horror franchise: the horror is not unknown anymore.

But seriously if any thing needs changed its the jill fight on harder difficulties that jewel has a ridiculous amount of hp and two or three misses and jill dies and you have to start all over then you add wesker roaming the arena and the qtes to try to remove the blasted thing, it almost ended a friendship after try 30 lol.
You know that you don't need to shoot it right? You can just yank it off. Unless you're wasting magnum rounds on it, it really doesn't make that big of a difference. Even then, you shouldn't be risking it, because a single shot from a magnum will kill her. Literally the only times I've fucked that up is when I try to shoot it off.
How about we leave out the boulder punching completely? Just a suggestion. Totally agree on Sheva being more fleshed out, but considering how well they fleshed out Marvin Branaugh, I've faith Capcom won't come up short in this department. Yes, Lost in Nightmares would make a great prologue for the game and it's quite possible you nailed that one.
There's also the inventory system, while not that bad of a system, it's a serious step back from RE4, so I would appreciate a REwork. Finally, Wesker was more fleshed out in Code: Veronica, which is the next game I think Capcom will REmake and possibly flesh out Wesker even more along with some other characters. Also, Code: Veronica is in desperate need of a REmake 'cause that game hasn't aged very well.
It's not RE5 unless a boulder gets punched.

RE5 is one of my favorites in the series! Didn't play it co-op though so I had to make sure my partner didn't have any ammo so they don't waste it!

People think they want horror and when they get it they call it boring and slow. People enjoyed Resident Evil 4 in spite of the very little horror that was in it. If they do this to RE5 and make it all at nighttime it will hardly be the same game anymore, and for the worst. I'd like to think capcom would find out how to do it but the fans of RE are kind of bipolar and ask for things they don't really want, so I have a funny feeling a remake for RE5 won't be for the people that liked the game but for the people who didn't, which sucks because its one of the best selling RE games.
We need zombies and a Richer part of the city with cars like a racoons city the game needs a touch of more different

But we already have RE1 remake?? Imo Re5 would benefit the most out of any of the games from the remake treatment(fleshing out characters, improved gameplay, etc). The others have either already been remade or still hold up pretty well to this day. (Except 0, but that game always felt kinda off in the grander narrative.) Though storywise I guess a CV remake would make sense first. Still would prefer 5 tho since imo CW holds up better than 5 these days.

One thing I hope they avoid is toning down the lighting. RE4 Remake was ridiculously dark in some areas compared to original and I don't think it improved the game.

By the weirdos. Probably cross dressing. Simply because they will praise it as a trans statement, use it push garbage. Ignoring the underlying mental condition of the character. But more representation.

The remake of 6 is gona be crazy if you go over just the major plot points with a C virus coming from China
They need to actually make the game creepy/scary and get rid of the nonsense mind controlled Jill plot. Almost all of the story needs to be reworked.
RE5 was very controversial at launch, I doubt Capcom will revisit it. If they do, they may as well remake RE6 but what is the point?

There is no way they remake 5, right? If they did I think they would have to change it almost to the point of unrecognizable. That being said though, I would like to see it properly remade.

I hope the boulder punching will be kept, because otherwise how would it get referenced in RE8? Maybe even retcon the story so the character from RE8 was involved somehow in this game to witness Chris punch the boulder.
