    Thanks for the video and also to everyone that replied. I was going to go Eaton front and rear on our 06 f350 rig, but I think I'll look around a bit more. We do remote travel, so reliability is the top priority. Parts availability is also handy. Dang it lol!!! I sure wish someone made a solid locker option for tons 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I was out in Kingman this weekend, The Great American Crawl, wheeling with RockStar Garage and half way through our first trail on Friday, I had the same problem! I bought my Dynatrac 44/60 set just a few months ago and put them through 4 wheeling trips no issues until now. When I engage the Eaton elocker I get the same popping sound, when not in use it drives fine. Dynatrac is in the process of replacing the locker itself, waiting to hear back from them on the cost to replace. 🤞

      Dynatrac was great to work with. Hopefully, Eaton has a replacement in stock. That was my initial issue.

    I’ve gone through two locker. Both fail on the second ride. Driver side doesn’t engage and clicks. It’s in a super duty dana 60 in a JKU. Going to try an arb next.

      I just broke my replacement one as well. I have an ARB sitting on my work bench.

    I have a 21 gladiator rubicon diesel on 40s and purchased a set of dynatrac prorock xd 60s with Eaton E lockers last September and a few months into having them I noticed a popping sound coming from my rear end when I would turn while locker was engaged. In April roughly 7 months later I went to the Easter Jeep safari and the sound dramatically got worse and rear locker completely failed. I got a hold of dynatrac and they are warranting the locker but I’m going arb front and rear they are swapping both out. They told me that within the past year they have been experiencing failure with Eaton e lockers mainly in the 60s

      I broke my second Eaton E-Locker a few months ago. I now have an ARB Air Locker in the back. When the front fails, I will replace it with one as well. It seems like they stopped making the side gear that engages the locker out of a quality metal. I've heard of lots of them breaking over the past two years. Dynatrac has been great to work with in terms of customer service.

    Yep, I'm at 8 months same as you when I started getting the popping. We sound like the same people with the same reasons for choosing Eaton. They have been fantastic up until a few wheeling trips ago. I'm on a diesel JL with tons and 40s. Really not looking forward to dealing with all of this. Can't believe Eaton won't just sell the parts to fix it. A smart machinist could make some money here.

      @Ali_Mansour_Editor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s so odd to me that a company as big as they are can’t get a replacement parts program going. Thankfully, Dynatrac was extremely helpful. Eaton will not warranty anything until you send them in the carrier and they determine it’s covered. Now that I know it’s a fairly easy fix, it would nice to just carry an extra side gear with me just in case.

    I cant believe there very little tooth engagement when the locker is locked just maybe those lockers are designed for a tire just above stock height/ weight and the taller and heavier the tire the more stress there is on the locker teeth engagement causing the locker teeth to break??

    • @Ali_Mansour_Editor
      @Ali_Mansour_Editor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the main problem is the strength of the magnet. It seems like it's just not strong enough to keep the locker engaged under high-load events.

    We have a minimum of 5 with the same issue. All 60's, All aftermarket axles, Currie, Fusion, Dynatrac. All wired differently. I call b.s. on a voltage drop problem. The side gears just are not up to the task of a 60 running over 39" tires. I had Currie 44's before with eaton e lockers, 3 years with zero issues. My jeep now has ARB's. Eaton won't sell just the side lockung gears anymore.

      It’s crazy to me that Eaton won’t just sell a rebuild kit. If this fails again, I will go ARB for sure. Lesson learned.

      Same story here. Dana 60s and e-lockers don’t play nice together. I had a rubicon 44 locker on 40’s and an atlas 4speed (10.3:1) never a problem. Now on 43’s and tons. Thought 60’s would be an upgrade. 🤦 trying ARB next.

    I'm dealing with same issue except only one trip on a new eaton elocker for dana 60 front..it seems to function fine when locked and going straight...but as soon as I turn it pops pretty loudly..sent it to Eaton couple days ago. Now just waiting on them to respond

    Nice. I've been curious about their internals. Do you know how many amps it pulls when locked?

    • @Ali_Mansour_Editor
      @Ali_Mansour_Editor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It states in the manual that the maximum amp draw is under 10 amps and normal current draw is between 5 and 8 amps.

    How is this wired/switched? Considering you are running them in a gladiator, are you using the z automotive harness Nd stock rubicon switch? Or are you wired to full 12v via a separate switch? Apparently the stock switch sognal is pulsed, and currie is now recommending not to use the stock switch in any fashion.

    • @Ali_Mansour_Editor
      @Ali_Mansour_Editor  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve broken this locker again since posting this video and now run an ARB. During my testing to see if it was a voltage problem, I actually tested it and it read over 12 volts at the plug every time. You are correct in that I was using the adapter harness from ZAUTOMOTIVE. Currie is the only axle manufacturer I know of with the warning about the adapter and dropping voltage. I’m not saying they are wrong in any way (I still consider John Currie very smart and a friend). I just get the sense they don’t like or have had issues with the ZAuto stuff for whatever reason. I’ve had the same adapter on my front axle for years with no problems. I think the locker just can’t handle something heavy like my Gladiator. Material is weak and or the magnet just can’t hold.

      @@Ali_Mansour_Editor It's still makes me nervous because my vehicle is a diesel F250, so the front axle would be taking some weight. And it turns out Eaton is back-ordered anyway. I still like the idea of an E-locker since I already have one on the rear, so I guess I'll start looking at other options.

    Is the locker supposed to engage immediately when you click the button or it needs the wheels to turn and help the locking teeth align properly?

    • @Ali_Mansour_Editor
      @Ali_Mansour_Editor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The teeth have to be aligned, so that may require slight movement for that to happen. It's also worth noting that my replacement Eaton locker broke. I just ordered an ARB to replace it.

      @@Ali_Mansour_Editor My front elocker on dana 44 stopped engaging. I can see the plate moving halfway left instead of all the way when I click the button. If I help it with a screw driver it gets engaged all the way. It does receive a 12.4 V signal. I did change the magnet actuator. Any idea what could be preventing it from working?

      @@johnd3684 I would pull the case apart and see if you have any broken teeth. It's possible it's getting put in a bind because a small piece of metal is caught inside of the locking mechanism. When I pulled mine apart, I found chunks of broken cast pieces inside of the locker.
