    All this time I thought it used a solenoid, but this is a geared servo. Nice!

    if you haave to run that massive cable you might as well just have the manaul lever actuated system in your cab

    @LordPhoenix140 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Does it require constant power to keep it locked like traditional E-lockers?

    • @OxOffRoad
      @OxOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It does not need power to stay in lock or unlock, only to transition.

    Great vid. What exactly are the benefits of this over the traditional cable actuated one? I feel like this just adds more points of failure.

      That's what I was thinking, I don't get it, You may as well just use a cable and manual shift and lose the electric's

      Same. Just go manual and save the hassle.

      @@sylvanbowyer341 I agree. I guess its nice if you want to add it to an available space on your dash. Like my Sport has 3 unused spots for buttons. If it could be installed there, that would be cool and look factory. But overall, if lever can be installed inside jeep and look good, sooner just pull the cable myself.

    Finally someone decided to challenge stupidly expensive arb lockers...unless this is also stupidly expensive too

    Why dont you put the actuator right in the diff cover and eliminate that cable entirely? Then simply run a small electrical wire to the diff cover to activate the electric actuator.

      +opjoipopikopp[pl[p[ Because then it would be an Eaton.

      Elocker is actuated with an electromagnet inside the diff.

      @@geniusiknowit And this would have the advantage of not having the ramp action of the eaton. I thought that's how it was setup. This seem cumbersome compared to the eaton

  • @TokenTombstone

    I was considering electric lockers because I didn't like the idea of a big ass cable sticking out of the differential to get caught up on suspension, exhaust or brush and what not. Now that I see the big ass cable is used on the electric model as well I'm rethinking my approach. Any electric lockers out there that only require a 12v wire to the diff?

      What type of terrain do you primarily drive in? I'm in the Ozark woods. Hardwood trees, branches, limbs, all day. I feel like the machine needs to almost be armored like a timber skidder, ideally. Thank you for the feedback though. @@MMr.NOBODYY

    Can this be wired to an existing aux switch?

    • @OxOffRoad
      @OxOffRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but it may not be as simple as connecting to the existing aux switch depending on your situation. Our system uses ground signal switching so if your aux switch puts out +12v power it may need a relay to switch it to a ground. We have the information available on our website to accomplish this if needed.

    JUST A DOUBT, WHY DOES THE ELECTROMAGNET CAUSE THE ENGAEMENT SYSTEM TO SLIDE AWAY RATHER THAN ATTRACTING IT TOWARDS ITSELF?

    • @OxOffRoad
      @OxOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually not an electromagnet that engages the lock. It is a cable actuated mechanical system. The cable can be controlled by an electric drive motor or a mechanical shift lever

      If I understand what you mean by drift builds, yea it would work very well. I believe the issue you may run into is a limited availability for the type of axles typically used.
