Hi Pete, big thanks for the mention and plug for my little channel mate it's much appreciated💪🤓 superb finish there mate those ANI guns really put out a great finish I don't think you can get much better for the price, I remember when I was having problems with my R150 I just couldn't get a good finish from it and of course being a man I didn't read the instructions🙄 and it wasn't until you told me that it needs a higher pressure which totally transformed the gun it's surprising the difference the air pressure makes👌 The slightly different tip size does make a difference to the speed of the gun which I found out with my X5500 when I went from the so called 1.3 CC tip (which as you found out is a 1.15) to the 1.2i tip along with using the CC aircap which made a noticeable difference to the speed of the gun, I will be trying the 1.3i tip with the CC cap soon but atm I'm working with the guys from ProXL to perfect the new Xpress 305 clear😬😅 Thanks mate👍
Hi John, You're welcome, mate. I nickname you, Mr. Clearcoat these days 😂 , I remember us talking about your R150, couldn't remember if it was an R160 or R150, but remember you saying about the finish not being so good, so you uped the pressure and it was much better, so this little gun does like it's pressure, cheers John 👍
Sorry for the late reply Pete, good old YT not telling me there was a reply as usual🙄sounds like I'll have to change my name on here to Mr Clearcoat 🤔😎yeah that was a while ago now mate and I remember saying to you that it doesn't spray properly but the higher psi made all the difference👌 Note to self... in future read the f'n manual 🙄🤠😂😂
@JohnWD40TC02 I'm not sure it gives the pressure in the manual, I think it recommended 2.2 bar which really isn't enough, not for a good finish, I haven't read it either so can't say for sure 😉 😂, cheers mate 👍
Hi Grant, Thanks mate, I really enjoy doing these back to back things, it's far more obvious to the painter and, hopefully more obvious on the videos. It's quite striking how different these two are considering it's only 0.1mm, good old tools though although they do use more air than quoted, cheers mate 👍
Nice one. I have ordered a PPS 2.0 kit for my Compact and am interested to see how it goes. A few reasons, but I find cleaning the cups a real PIA and is often a disincentive to spraying small jobs. I do intermittent work that may stretch out over a few days and ideally I can take the pps cup off the gun and store it for a day, give the gun a basic clean, then go back to where I left off. Many industrial paints have much longer drying times vs auto, so subsequent coats or sides of objects can take days. Just this morning I found a feature on something I’d sprayed yesterday had some primer showing and I would have blown some more material over it if I still had a cup loaded instead I touched up by hand which isn’t an ideal result. I agree, I think the gun is capable of being a one gun solution for many, the 500 ml cup is likely big enough for most recreational painters, but PPS would also allow bigger cups if desired. Keep up the good reviews. Pete
Hi Mate, I find the bigger cups a pain to clean as well, which is why I mainly use small cups, which does most of what I need to do anyway and works fine. I must say, using these two ANI'S individually the difference between them, although obviously noticeable, isn't as apparent as doing these side by side tests, it's really obvious when you see it here. Thanks, mate. I appreciate it 👍
Off Topic Question - What is the overspray difference between the 3 split tip and the 4 split tip on the Iwata spray guns? Do the 3 split tip models produce noticeably more overspray than the 4 split tip models?
Hi Pete, thanks for all the info regarding the setup for these ANI guns. I recently purchased a Compact kit and was wondering if you could offer some thoughts on what pressure to use for attempting to match a factory finish in the clear coat? Using a HS clear, basically wanting a little bit of orange peel. Am I correct in thinking that using a slightly lower pressure may achieve this?
Pete, 10grams of water = 10 ml of water, but it is not true for liquids of different viscosity. 10grams of HS clear might only be 8 or 9 ml. You probably have your own conversion factors, but for the average guy, the clear and the hardener won't be the same ml for the same grams.
Hi Ken, yes, agreed, that's why I was saying it's best to measure, say 100ml of each to give you the difference. The Upol 2080 gives the weight in it's TDS, and they are within 1% the same, Cheers mate 👍
@kenc4104 That's exciting 😄, I've got to wait a month, Devilbiss Japan, don't keep the Micro version, so it's been ordered, so the UK to Japan and back again 😂
Hi Mate, Yes, I bought 10 x 7.5lt kits at a very good price, I only have 1 left now, when it's gone I probably won't replace it as there are better one's out there for only a little more money. In the US, I think it's 2802 , worth a try to see what you think 👍
Sir, hi again - I've come across this very nice looking Rongpeng R-100 spray gun - it comes with a 1.0 mm tip - will this spray base coat/clear coat ? it has reasonable psi operating pressure/cfm ratings - thank you again - your advice is always appreciated
Not answering for Pete 😊, but i remember him commenting about the R100. Think he says it was rubbish. Look at the other videos in the series to find it
Thanks, Dominic 👍, you are quite correct. It's really not a particularly good gun and the build quality is awful, people would be much better off with one of the Devilbiss Sri Pro Lite clones, something like the Ntools 888, there lots of names for them although they are all the same, cheers mate 👍

Hi Mate, no, not really, what makes the most difference is the pressure
My friend Pete I do not see a difference in the external appearance of the two weapons. What is the difference between them?
Hi Mate, it's all here 👍

Hi Mate, yes, less pressure will give you more peel, as will moving faster, and or holding the gun further away
