Could you have the defuser machined off?
Hi Pete. I'm trying to decide between this LPH300 and the Wider1L. Besides the side-cup, is there any material difference between the two?
Hi Mate, They are very similar, although Wider1L is designed to work at a lower pressure than the LPH300, both are really good, many will run there Wider1L at a slightly higher pressure, then the too start to merge really 👍
Do you put an extra weight for balancing on if you put a pad saver? I just ordered one and can see that there are no extra screws bolts in the packaging, as there are with the Mirka Deros.
Hi Mate, No, I've never bothered , I rarely use it flat out and that's the only time you would notice it, they are only M4 screws as far as I know, so you could probably sort a few out if needed, hasn't crossed my mind in 3 years
Good video, gave me the information I needed. What do you think to the 1.2 cap? good for smart repairs and blow ins? I was thinking of purchasing one with a 1.2 cap for these smaller jobs, save on materials, les overspray, what do you think? Thanks
Hi Mate, If you currently have the 1.3 setup I wouldn't get the 1.2 as I don't think you will see enough of a difference, probably better off getting a mini or midi gun for smaller jobs
@peteshobbies5383 O.k so this is basically a full size spray gun for full size jobs, I was a bit unsure with it been 1.2. And 1.3 tips. I have a r150 mini on a 1.0 tip, great gun, I was thinking I'd like a 1.2 tip mini for lacquer on bumper and smaller jobs for using thicker smart repair lacquer. What would you recommend? Many thanks
@Supercarlsunday Yes, these are very much full size guns. If you get on with the ANI, then the ANI R160 Compact is now available with a 1.3 or 1.4 tip, 1.3 would be a good idea
@peteshobbies5383 O.K thanks for your advice👍
@Supercarlsunday No worries, you're welcome 👍
Pete, a couple of points: 1) The air nipple on the end of that adapter was not an American style nipple, it is in fact a Japanese style nipple. In America we have three native types of air couplings. First and most prevalent is the Milton Industrial, Second the True-Flate Automotive and Third the Lincoln. Luckily we are quickly adapting to the high flow European style which we call the Milton V. 2) This Avalon gun with its U slots, or whatever they call them is doomed to fail just like the 1st gun to ever used pre-atomization the Walcom GEO. The GEO failed because the tiny holes which they drilled around the perimeter of the nozzle were impossible to keep clean and I see this being the same problem the Avalon will have with its tiny slots as well. The beauty of the Iwata design is that they made the nozzle in a manner than cleaning it isn’t a problem and Porphis effectively copied this design. Also, the price of the Avalon is $600 in America which is nearly twice what I can buy either a Porphis or Meiji gun for and it’s clearly not worth that.
Hi Sataman, Thanks for the clarification on the air quick couple adapter, I wasn't aware you had so many to choose from. I know Walcom uses more of a smaller U grove, although I didn't know their holes were smaller, but I have never seen one in the flesh, so I am only going on photos and the like. I didn't know the Avalon was so much in the US, I paid much less than 600 USD for it on a Black Friday deal. The build quality does look very good, so I'll see how I get along with it, I thought the gun , in my mind, the Avalon would be up against was the Porphis 627, I know that likes around 29psi and I understand the Avalon is the same, whereas the PRD717 seems to be happy at much lower pressures and anywhere in between up to 29psi. Cheers, buddy, happy Christmas 👍
what psi/bar you use for the prolite s
2 bar/29 psi
reguarding the f160..do you add extra thinner/reducer to get a flatter finish at 2bar..without thinner/reducers i have to use 3bar on base and 3.5bar for clear for a flat finish
Hi Wilfred, No, I don't use any more than normal. Sometimes, I don't use any thinner/reducer. What cap have you got, the HPS ?
That A60 looks to be an impressive gun, but it is a bit higher priced than what I figured it would be. The older version A50 was ridiculously priced. Avalon appears to be a decent Taiwanese company that could strive to be a bit more competitive
Hi Boss, Yes, the A50 was ridiculous. You may as well have got a WS400, which it was copying, of course. This A60 does appear to be quite well made, well, very well made to be honest. They are quite expensive, this is why I thought of the Porphis guns straight away, as they are good and cheaper, so the Avalon will have its work cut out to compete, cheers mate 👍
@peteshobbies5383 so far, I'm finding what I think is a spinoff of Avalaon to be more impressive. Quality Expert, I assume, is the brand name that produces the Dram and Berosslin. Both guns, while not perfect, have impressed in their abilities at cost. I've used the Berosslin with Upol 2802 for an initial clear application and flow coat with better than expected results. You'd think Avalon would compete with that level and price if they're the original manufacturer... big if as that is an assumption.
@bosshawg7427 I'm assuming they are thinking the Avalon name is worth paying the money for. I will see if that's an assumption worth making
I want to buy some cheap clear for practicing before I spray on my parts. In general, the setting on the gun should be pretty much the same with cheap and even expensive clear? (2k clear)
Hi Mate, Yes, more or less, but you will find your speed and distance may change a little depending on materials, but it's not normally a lot
Have Metabo fixed the reliability issue of the Deros 1st gen.? I read that it has slightly upgraded electronics.
Hi Mate, I don't think they have changed much. The electronic control unit does often change in Powertools, although to the user, you wouldn't notice it. What happens with these is the control unit cracks, through people continually applying pressure and, of course, vibration. Mine are over 3 years old and still absolutely fine, although I've had to refit the cable a few times. I'm testing some Chinese ones at the moment, which are proving very good. I've just got to put hours on them really to see what the reliability is like 👍
@ Thanks! We have a Mirka Ceros in the workshop, that has been abused for 15 years now and it shows some loss of power recently. By abuse - I mean pressing hard sometimes, pressing on one of the sides -to sand a dent faster and sanding plank's sides. I wonder if those older, non- brushless sanders have carbon brushes to be replaced..?
@sizif717 No, not normally, they are induction motor, so the rotor has no contact with the coil, it could be a bearing tightening up, that will slow it down.
@@peteshobbies5383 Thanks! You are probably right, as I can't see replacement brushes for the Ceros on their site. I wonder if it is worth trying to repair the Ceros, or buy a new one..Like the Metabo version of the Deros 1. What the Ceros does is - sometimes it loses power and the sound of the motor changes, like, becomes weaker. After restart it starts working normally for a while - and them, after using it for a while on the highest speed - starts doing it again.
@sizif717 That sounds like a bearing or something binding up inside. Maybe it has a thermal overload protection 🤔
Hi Pete, the A60 does look a nice gun and from what I can see and you were saying it's a lot better quality than the WLS-400 that you loaned to me not that the WLS is a bad gun it's not a gun I would pay the asking price for but I'm lucky enough to have tried it before I buy one😁as you mentioned the baffle and gasket on the A60 does look a better design than the ProLite so it should last really well, when I saw the pics of the gun it reminded me of the WS400 but when you compared it to the Finer Core it does look more like that which is a good thing👌 I like the idea of you showing the spray patter at 90 degrees as it shows you just how even it's spraying when the paint starts to flow and the A60 is spot on with a nice even pattern as is the PRD-627, very interesting video I'm looking forward to seeing this gun in action, cheers mate👌👍
Hi John, The Avalon certainly does look well made, the pattern seems quite big considering Avalon said it was smaller than the HTE version, so I'm not sure that's going to be any larger as this is about as big as you would want. The sideways pattern is a good way of doing it but more difficult on a gravity gun, I don't like to rotate the cap as some baffles are directional, so I'm sure it will affect performance, maybe I'm over thinking it but I'm probably not. Cheers mate 👍
Yeah it looks a nice gun time will tell if it's worth the price you paid for it mate but I have a feeling it will be a great gun, I was surprised when you said that the HTE will have a bigger fan pattern, unlike some things in life I don't think bigger is always better when it comes to the size of the fan pattern🤭I recon the HTE might be a good gun for basecoat if it's got a bigger fan😁 Until you mentioned it I never gave it a thought that the baffle on a gun is directional but thinking about it, it does make sense that on some guns it might not spray as well with the cap turned but you should be able to tell by the design of the gun behind the aircap or the baffle if it has one🤔what you need is one of those adaptors for a side cup gun fitted to a normal gun so the pot is upright when the gun is on it's side😁😆 I have some more clearcoat coming, it's a cheaper HS clear from ProXL, it's around £8-10 dearer than the Upol Maximum which is by far my best budget clear, I've bought a 1.5L kit to try I'm hoping it will be like the Upol🤷♂cheers Pete👍
@JohnWD40TC02 Yeah, I was expecting a smaller pattern, more like a Wider4, but it's 11 inches, which seems enough. I like the idea of a side cup adapter 😀, cheers mate 👍
Only you can review the prona rl90 pro
Hi Mate, I did order one in the Black Friday sales, but the seller refused to ship it as he said he was losing money. It would now cost me 148 USD, including tax, so it's not worth it as you can get an Anest Iwata LPH50 for only a little more
@peteshobbies5383 lph50 is twice cost pro
@quyuc9334 That depends where you are. I guess I can get one from Japan for around 170 USD, only 20 USD, different from the Prona
@@peteshobbies5383Can you review the twdevilbliss, that gun quite cheap and beautiful bro
Having been a painter for over 45 years after the introduction of I pattern and rp or hte I will never use hvlp or a centre weighted gun again just seems a backward move.
Hi Jason, I rather like a center weighted pattern. Certainly, HVLP is not my favorite, but for some, it is. I used to like your videos, very interesting watching, cheers mate, Happy Christmas 👍
How would you compare the the 5000b 1.3 RP and 5500 1.3 O RP to the Sagola 4600 xtreme 1.3XL DVR in terms of speed. I use sagola for ms clear 2.5/3 turns out
Hi Buddy, The Sata X5000 1.3 RP is definitely slower than the Sagola or the Sata 5000 RP, the Sagola in 1.3XL form is about the same as the Sata 5000 1.3 RP, they are actually both 1.35mm tips , cheers buddy 👍
Sepertinya senjata yg bagus avalon. A60 ada 3 varian. Hte. Ump. Hvlp.
Hi Mate, Yes, I was saying in the video that there are 3 variations of this gun, this, UMP is supposed to be the fastest of them for application speed. Cheers buddy 👍
I have both of them and I rather the 500
Hi Mate, I'm surprised you find that there's not much in it, but I definitely find the Saigaole W400 better than the 500, YT160, and A610 I have, which are all variations of the 500, cheers buddy 👍
Do you think the 717 compares or is better as an all rounder than the Kiwami in either Ba4 or Wbx?
Hi Mate, Yes, 100% , The Porphis is better made, gives better results, although the differences are small and it will run at anything from 16 to 29 psi quite happily, it really is very good 👍
Are you getting the HTE version(purple cap), mate? Which one do you prefer more, the Porphis or this?
Hi Ben, I will get the Avalon A60 HTE version, I have literally just got the Avalon A60 UMP so have no idea how good or bad it is, but it's going to have to go some to beat that Porphis, cheers mate 👍
Great comparison Pete! Also a great video as always _ thank you. I received my Porphis 717 yesterday. What a difference in controls, everything is smooth. Due to some bad weather here in Nevada and unfortunately I have to paint outside so I have not been able to try it yet. At least it didn't snow, but the rain creates the same problem. Thank you Pete, have a Merry Xmas if I don't get online!
Hi Richard, I don't think you'll be disappointed, they really are very, very good guns, you'll love it, Happy Christmas, mate 👍
HI MATE,THANKS FOR THE NEW VIDEO,GLAD TO SEE PORPHIS STILL ON TOP OF THEIR GAME,CHEERS MATE❤❤
Hi Lesli, They certainly are mate, I was using the Porphis PRD627 and PRD717 in the week, absolutely brilliant guns, they are different to each other which I also like, but very good, cheers mate 👍
I got a pressure fed gun that have not used yet but i think the reason why there not so popular is clean up and if you got a long hose that has wide diameter say 3/8 25 ft long it is going to take a couple oz to prime it
Hi mate, Yes, normally, pressure feed is for larger projects or production jobs, as you say, it's a lot more work to prime and clean afterwards, so not worth it just for half a car or similar
I just got the prd 717.. i am amazed at the quality of machine work and how smooth it is.. especially at its price point. It feels nicer than the guns I used when I was painting back in the 80s and early 90s.. and those was considered top of the line at that time
Hi Bradley, I think the Porphis build and finish is at least equivalent to Devilbiss, Iwata, Sata, and the like. Then, when you consider the price, it's outstanding. The performance is better than the looks, so they really are quite a find, I think I absolutely love mine. I was using the PRD717 and PRD627 this week, absolutely superb results for , cheers buddy 👍
Hi Pete's! Here in Brazil, Walcom is the brand that has replacement parts most easily, but it is expensive, in fact everything here is more expensive because the currency is very devalued in relation to the dollar and euro. Another feature that the pistols here are 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9 for the Walcom Xligth. for Genesis Carbonio, Genesis aluminum only 1.3 nozzle.
Hi Buddy, Yes, I have had other painters in Brazil telling me the same. Everything is very expensive. It's strange that spares are easier to obtain. In the UK, it's not so bad, but people in the US tell me Walcom parts are next to impossible to get
great video pete be interesting to see some demo's with this see how it performs👍👍👍 i hope you and your family have a great Christmas mate 👊👊👊👊👊👊
Hi Grant, Thank you, mate, and seasons greetings to you and family, have a good, safe holidays, and let's hope for a mild winter 😀
Good video mate Merry Xmas to you and family. As you know Iam teaching smart repairs next year and putting a new system together. The turbine system is great but at over $7000 NZ and is to expensive now. Can you suggest 2 suns base coat, clears, with different caps and needle sizes. Iam looking at at the ANI R160 ? what your thoughts? The DV1 here are over $1000 NZ so out of the question. I want to spent about $500 pounds for 2 guns....You may come up with another suggestion Pete. Cheers
3M Performance Spray Gun. Pete what about this gun for what i do..?
Hi mate, Yes, seasons greetings to you and your family buddy 👍 The little ANI would fit the bill, 1.0 HPS for base, and 1.2 or 1.3 for clear. Also, take a look at the Kiwami 1 Iwatas and Meiji Finer Force guns, I'm not sure how much they would be in NZ but very good
@mreightytwenty8709 I've never used one, but people tell me they are good, I just can't get past the plastic gun syndrome, which is my problem, really.
Kiwami 1 Iwatas and Meiji Finer Force guns, Very expensive here in NZ. Iam thinking ANI s R 160 1mm for base and F160 1.2 for clears ? Your thoughts !! Cheers
@mreightytwenty8709 Yeah, sounds OK. They need a fair bit of pressure for good results, but they should do what you want
Hi Pete - I have ordered SRi Pro Ntools spray gun - online direct from China $US35.50, including shipping - will let you know how it goes - just a quick question : how long should you leave masking tape before removing when using 2k urethane base coat/clear coat ? I'm spraying here in my carport, temperature ranging between 28/30 degrees celsius - kind regards - Roger
Hi Roger, at those sorts of temperatures, about 4 to 5 minutes after you have finished, the clear needs to be in a state that it's not going to flow anymore but is still soft, if you leave it too long it can chip when you remove it
@@peteshobbies5383 Hi Pete - thank you for your advice - as always, very helpful - Kind regards - Roger ... PS - I don't need a microwave here !
Yes, that was my thoughts exactly. it must be lovely 😀
Awesome comparison videos! Do you have any thoughts on gun that lays down a nice finish with a minimal cloud? Im working in a garage with poor ventilation to get all the overspray cloud out so looking for a gun that makes a minimal cloud but still gets great results. Since youve tried SO many guns, do you have thoughts about that? I would like to get a budget clone but can get the real deal if itll make a decent difference. The size of the compressor isnt a issue but ive been more focused on lvlp for less overspray. Ill need to do blending if that makes a difference. Thanks! Learning a lot with your channel!
Hi Stephen, As I was saying in the video, I'm not sure LVLP exists. It is like the thing everyone wants, but no one can find. The guns to look at are the guns that work at lower pressure, there aren't any cheap ones that I know of, guns like the Iwata Wider4L, LPH400, Porphis PRD717 , you will still get what looks like a lot of overspray though if you're garage has little ventilation. I use a couple of 24" fans to move and filter the air out, which works quite well. It can also make it look like there is less overspray than there is in the videos
@peteshobbies5383 so you feel like the cloud the R500 guns make is fairly similar to say an LPH400? Originally I was thinking of getting a used lph400 with a few caps to use for everything....still a LOT more expensive than these clone guns. I don't care about air consumption, I have a big air setup....I just wanted to minimize the 'cloud' since I don't have a booth.
@stephenwhite5444 The LPH400 should make less cloud, but it won't be a huge difference, I'm just not sure if you would feel the difference is enough for the extra money you will spend
@@peteshobbies5383 originally my budget was to find something used off Marketplace but a nice gun, and spend less than $500. BUT all these clones made me question it. BUT, I do need to do some blending and I'm sure at some point I'll want to paint one of my cars in a heavy metallic. So I wanted a gun I can use for pretty much anything....single stage, base clear, primer, metallic, pearl, sprayable 'filler' like Slick Sand.....just a good 'can do anything' gun by just changing caps. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.
@stephenwhite5444 You may want a tip size change as well but it's all possible with an LPH400 or Wider4L
This is one of the best videos I've watched with more knowledge and understanding than the thousands of influencers just doing it to show off for views. You, sir, are a master. Thank you very much, sensei.
Hi Daniel, Cheers, mate 👍 It's often difficult to think of a way to convey what you're trying to say, I think it worked in this case. Thanks for watching buddy, it's much appreciated 👍
@peteshobbies5383 Like wise 🍻. As a novus. I stumbled on this video googlin (air adjustment guns vs. non air adjustment guns). With the key word "regulator" typed. Didn't find my answer, but I learned about regulators and diaphragm regulators I got sold 😅😁. Here's my questions, and hopefully, you can answer it. Is there a preference between laying metallic or regular paints using an "air adjustment gun" like the (LS/WS400 example) vs. non air adjustment gun like the (DV1). The reason I ask is because we still end up using the (Air Regulator). I find the Iwata Series Guns cumbersome. As I am already adjusting air with the regulator. And still have to have the air knob on the gun fully opened. It's why I mainly prefer the DV1 as my go-to, yet I love the spiltt nozzle on the iwata series 2.
@danielcarcamo6336 Hi Mate, the DV1 does have an air adjustment. It's on the inlet, just above where you screw the regulator on
One other from ntools is the x7 looks like new model take a look pete the quality is incredible they have the hvlp(green) and the rp(blue) they said uk technology and no gaskets is metal on metal i bought the rp model i’m not used it yet but quality is really great it really feel like ws400 even the trigger for less than 70 dollars
Hi Mate, Yes, I have seen it, it's made by a big Chinese company who ironically contacted me the other day, this gun was in there line up, you can have whatever name you want put on them. It's the same as the Italco guns and quite a few others. I haven't handled one, so I will keep an eye open for a bargain if a sale comes up, not that I need another spray gun, of course Cheers buddy 👌
Awesome collection of spray guns! I’m new to painting helmets and currently learning the process. I’m planning to invest in my first LPH80 spray gun and would love your advice. What would be the best needle and nozzle size for the LPH80? I’ll mainly be painting helmets and doing some art projects using water-based Createx paints as well as solvent-based paints.
Hi buddy, Very good choice. The LPH80, along with the LPH50, are ideal. I would go with a 1.0 or a 1.2, both should do what you want, the 1.2 would allow you to branch out a little if you wanted to, 1.0 is really all you need if you sticking to manly helmets. Also, take note of the TDS of the waterbourn paints you may use. They tend to be thicker, but not always than solvent, so 1.2 may be better, ,cheers 👍
Are the needles interchangeable between the 4 split tip vs the 3 split tips if they are the same orifice size? I’m not interested in possessing lots of guns but having lots of tip options and combinations for my wider2. The iwata guns are absolutely amazing!
Hi Buddy, Yes, the needle is the same in all the 1.3, 1.4, and 1.6 Wider4/Kiwami4 guns
Hi Pete and thanks for your videos. Just one question, how much is the air consumption of the 717 in litre per minute at around 1.8 bar? Infinite thanks again!
Hi mate, at that pressure I would guess it's around 340lpm, so 12 cfm, but I use it for clear now at 1.5 bar and get superb results, at that it using around 10 cfm, so 280lpm
@@peteshobbies5383 infinite thanks Pete! One last question. When you do your reviewing videos, how many fluid turns do you use for example on your 717? Thanks again
@stefderrico Normally, for clear coat, completely out, so full fluid, the PRD717 isn't a fast gun, so full fluid doesn't normally overwhelm the user
It's hard to believe how beautiful your finish is. Being as I'm building motorcycles here in Nevada, I would be happy with half of your finish if I could lay down the base coat. What a fantastic video and thank you Pete! Oh, I had mentioned on another of your videos, that I had ordered a 717 from AliExpress for $217. I had said "if it actually arrives". I had been waiting since 12/20/24 and they finally told me to cancel then reorder. Right! Total bullshit and I canceled but did not reorder. I bought one from Amazon today and it will be here tomorrow at a cost of $300. Well worth it. I purchase all my motorcycle parts online for years and only had one minor problem. No more AliExpress for me. Thank you again my friend and I should send you a picture of my RD 400, not sure if I can do that.
Hi Richard, That has happened to me recently, but it's best not to cancel the order. The seller wants you to, but don't, Aliexpress will give you your money back no problem, but the seller gets a black mark, which really harms them, of you cancel, it doesn't harm there ratings at all. Would you not have been better off ordering it directly from Porphis? They have a retail store and had a black Friday deal, which was really good. Well, at least you should be ok now, 👍
@ I need to correct something, I had said I had been waiting since 12/20/2024, actually it was 12/10/2024. There is more to this purchase than what I have shared and I had spoken to customer service who said I should cancel, which they did. I had finally received a message from the seller actually telling me to cancel the order because they said I didn’t give them the correct address, which was not true as my address was on the invoice that the seller had sent me. I have no use or patience with a seller who wants to play games , at 69 and dealing with Alpha 1 syndrome, I am running out of time, so they get what they deserve. When I purchase something I expect the seller to keep to what he has agreed to as I do with my customers, I paid upfront and some sellers think that they have my money, so they don’t need to follow their agreement. I had checked Porphis site and when shipping was added , I wasn’t getting a great deal and Amazon did the next day delivery. I have Prime because I do so much business with them for parts to welding machines. I am not a vindictive type person at all, but time is not something to waste. Happily, my 717 arrives today, hopefully. Lol. Thank you Pete once again!
That gun also has the air adjustment on the air inlet !
Hi Mate, Yes, indeed, just like the DV1 has
Love Devilbiss guns, they feel nice and spray nice. Good review here, thanks.
Hi buddy, thank you 👍
Which gun is better for clear on parts max size of a car door? w300wb or lph-300? Which one has less overspray, better for blending?
Hi buddy, there is so little between them. The LPH300 can run at a slightly lower pressure, so a little less overspray, both brilliant little guns
Hi buddy. Can you also make a video for comparing dv1 vs meiji vs ani black ?
Hi buddy, 3 is difficult to do, as I would ideally like 3 panels the same to be comparable, I know which one would win, though 😉 😂
@@peteshobbies5383 which one ? dv1 ?
I'm curious to know how the gun handles a narrow fan for tight spots. I bought a SRI knockoff and it sprays well, but adjusting the fan from wide to very narrow is not smooth.
Hi buddy, There is a reason why manufacturers make so many different tip sizes, it's because when you turn a fan in, it doesn't perform as well, as when the fan is wide open, smaller tip equal smaller patterns, for the most part anyway. It's something I mention sometimes in my videos. A better quality gun will normally give you better results when the pattern is closed up, but it's still a compromise
Great video Pete, I learn something from each video. Is there any problem if I leave the pot installed, put in some thinner, hook up to air and shoot it out? Then disassemble and clean it. Likely another very stupid question as usual! Thank you Pete, much appreciated.
Hi Richard, that's exactly what I do, leave it all together, run some thinners through it, I just let it run out, so no air but air is fine, then take it apart. It helps keep the cleaning thinners cleaner for longer in the cleaning container 👍
Is this the same exodus luma ?
Yes, buddy, exactly the same 👍
@ Thanks buddy. And you compare dv1 with ANI 200 black ? I have dv1 base and clear
@hasmiksargsyan800 The ANI is as good as the DV1, it's not made as well, but it is much cheaper
Hi Pete ive got myself one of those updated Areopro r500 (A610) i want to use for primers and recently purchased a 100litre 15cfm (12FAD) compressor i was wondering what a good basecoat / clearcoat gun would pair with it. I was really gutted to find out that something like a DV1 needs ~14cfm and my compressor i just spent a lot on probably wont cut it. I know you have a similar set up and was wondering if you've ever tried to do a big job like a respray on a car if its even possible with a couple stops or just go a different gun route to match my compressor set up.
Hi Mate, There are plenty of guns that will run off your compressor. The DV1s use of air does depend on what cap you use, I actually have two compressors like your's linked up, so, if needed they run together but you should still have enough for many good spray guns, just stay away from true HVLP. What sort of budget are you thinking? I guess if you are thinking of a genuine DV1, then the budget is good ?
Yes ive got a decent budget i was after something that i could base and clear with. Ive just looked up the specs for the DV1 it says using the DV1-B-PLUS air cap is 10.5 SCFM and the C2 plus is 11.3CFM would that be a good combo for my compressor? man its hard picking a spraygun.
@TheMasterKelly To be honest with you, I wouldn't buy a DV1, If you want a good all round gun, look at the Meiji Finer Core, Iwata Kiwami4 WB or W400 WB or the Porphis PRD717, all within budget and capable of great finishes with both clear and base coats
@@peteshobbies5383 Awesome Pete thanks for the recommendations
@TheMasterKelly You're welcome, buddy, I have both DV1 guns, base, and clear, and there are better guns for that sort of money and often cheaper as well, cheers 👍
Thank you Pete! This is exactly what I need to practice. As a beginner, I really didn't know what all the knobs controlled. I knew what they were, but not how the different adjustments changed the pattern. I was just tweaking this and that with no idea what I was looking at. Again thank you so much!
You're welcome Richard, good to know it's been some help 👍
Thanks for the info on panel prep and flowcoat grits! As someone still relavtively new to paint and body work I'm always picking up useful info from the narration.
Hi buddy, thank you, I always used to use 600, and I know many use 800, but I experimented with the different grits, and 400 is as good but definitely better for adhesion, It's also what I use on headlights now. Again, the finish is just as good, cheers mate 👍
great video pete 👍👍👍👍
Cheers Grant, Thanks mate 👍
Is the ws400 and Ls400 that different? Can I use a Ls400 for clear
Hi buddy, yes, they are. You can use the LS400 for clear. It is quite slow but still good 👍
Hi Pete, I do like your comparison videos as you always put 2 like for like guns together as you have here, the Saigaole did seem to be the better gun here but it's a shame the tip needed to be so tight to get a seal as this is something that would bug me and it's the only thing that I don't like about my WS400 Series 2 having to tighten it up so much just to get the split tip to line up with the airhorns🙄 I found the same with my R500 that you need around 35 psi to get the best out of the gun for clear but it's a good basecoat gun and I found that it also lays WoW primer really nice. It's also a shame the some people on here say it doesn't use much air I think you are right in saying the the people reviewing this gun probably have a big compressor which will run them fine and just quote the spec from the gun saying it only uses 4 CFM but it's more like double that🤨🤠 Cheers Pete👍
Hi John, Yeah, I do try to put things up against each other that are relevant in some way. I do get asked to do some rather odd comparisons, which just wouldn't be relevant to most people's thinking. I can only think that's the case. People read the specs and assume they are correct and won't notice the difference between 4 cfm and 8 cfm on a system supplying 40 cfm of free air, although, if you are passing this information on, then you should make an attempt to quantify it first. Cheers, mate, BTW, that General Motors Orange you used is a dead ringer for the custom Orange I order in, so I'm very happy 😊, cheers mate 👍
It's a shame they don't take more time to actually check the CFM of the gun when they review it but on the other hand you don't really expect the manufactures figures to be wrong but this seems to happen more and more these days🤷♂ I'm pleased that the GM Orange is what you are looking for as it must be cheaper to mix your own rather than buy it in ready mixed, finding colours for you that I didn't know you were looking for is all part of my service👌😎😂cheers Pete👍
@JohnWD40TC02 Yeah, I thought it looked similar, so I made some up, sprayed it on some spray out cards and also painted some with a brush. Sounds odd, but the brush strokes show up different light effects, I find it a good addition to seeing if something is the same, and it's exactly the same. This custom colour has been out at least 7 years and the GM for only 2020, so I'm not sure who copied who 🤣😂, cheers mate 👍
Muy buenas smigo sinceramente cual cres que sea mejor de las dos ?
Hi mate, if I had to choose one, I would go with the Sagola, it's no better than the Walcom, but it is as good and is better made, they are also sometimes cheaper, but that depends where you live,
Gracias por contestar amigo quería comprar una de las dos pistolas y tenia duda .. creo que es lo que me dices esta mejor construida la sagola o eso me parece y el precio me cuestan lo mismo las dos gracias por contestar
Yes, exactly, they are as good as each other, but the Sagola is better made and will last longer
Hi Pete , Yeah I bought one of these (saigole) , I needed a gun that I didn't care about ... My fluid tip was super tight like yours was , but after a few cleans is perfectly fine now (fyi they do wear in) They're pretty good for the money , I think if you were a home tinkerer that only did small jobs here n there , it would be perfectly fine 👍 , it's an ok all rounder that's cheap for how well it sprays . Only issues I have with it are the trigger needs more of a curve at the bottom and I find myself bumping the air screw for some reason (the last thing is more of my own fault I think)
Hi Andrew, Yeah, I think they are worth the bit extra over the R500, and because the Saigaole works better at a lower pressure, it uses less air than the R500 which is of concern to many, cheers buddy 👍
I was one of the people who bought an R500 because I thought it used less air. I found out the first time I used it that my 6cfm compressor couldn't keep up. Luckily, most of my projects are either multiple small panels or small segments of a larger panel, so it tends to work out. Decent *HVLP* gun for cheap, and that's about it. I really wish we had a decent outlet here in The States to buy an ANI GF3. But everywhere it's available, the shipping is more than the gun.
Apakah devilbiss neptune itu di buat di jepang?
Hi Buddy, Yes, it's made in Japan, that is probably why it's better made than the British ones 😂, cheers ✌️
