Life too short for long TH-cam videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.
This is Dan’N’Mick’s Pick’N’Mix where we feature four pedals that are new (to us anyway).
Our agenda is purely to plug them in, see what cool sounds and features we find, and combine them in whatever way inspires. That’s it! Enjoy…

Had to double check, but things like this excellent Eisenhower pedal prove it. You need to do a dedicated Octave Fuzz show! Can't just let JHS be the only in-depth exploration of this brilliant noise.

Great to see Meris getting some exposure. I think the best way to understand the difference between the Meris Mercury7 and the other pedals on this board is that the Mercury7 is, by design, an instrument, while the other pedals are more traditionally understood as effects. Ed O'Brien and Jonny Greenwood would OD on the Mercury7.

Love my Meris! Get a stereo set up with an expression pedal to control the parameters. It’s one of the most versatile pedals I’ve ever used. I can go from a simple short reverb all the way to dream land all with the control of my expression pedal. Also hold the swell button down for infinite sustain. And to tame the pitch vector section you have to get into the alt settings. Out of the box they are a little over the top but can be managed and tweaked to a more usable sound. Especially the shimmer and 5th settings. The pitch down sounds straight from a horror movie lol

How does Danelectro come up with the true dirty good stuff so often? They should be legendary but maybe the rock bottom priced flimsy plastic offerings (that DID deliver the sonic goods) from the past have hobbled their reputation. The new offerings are really good, they did have a pretty authentic Univibe in a plastic box, and their take on the Foxx Tone Machine (again, plastic cheapie) really sounded to me to have that same superfilthy raunchy wildness that the original wah/fuzz/volume/octave variant tone sucker I had when I was a kid in the 70's had. Maybe that very pedal was the original inspiration for the multi loop pedal switchers we see today. Only guys like Dan can say. Great show fellas, the new Dano vintage type boost is one I look forward to your take on.

Great show as alwas, guys. Thanks a lot!
Any chance you could do a shoot-out on simple/set and forget reverb pedals? Like an update on that 2016 video, with the MXR and stuff... I know you did the volante and that really cool spring vs digital video a couple months ago, but I'm talking about simpler pedals, like the RV6 and stuff.
    Just a thought...
    Cheers

The Danelectro is a Foxx Tone Machine. The guy that owns Dano designed the Foxx pedal.

The Eisenhower (I would have gone with Eisenhowler..... 🤘). Sounds like a refined Foxx/French Toast circuit to me.... killer!

Question for Mick. I went down a rabbit hole looking at the snake oil pedal, Rob Chapman, his take on Fractal Axe FX and then saw that John Mayer used a Fractal at Coachella. I’ve never considered buying one until recently and now I feel compelled to ask someone I respect their opinion of the current state of modeling amps, cabs, etc.
I get the feeling and headroom arguments. I have a Fender Bassman reissue and Dumble SSS amp clone. Pressure to maintain a reasonable stage volume, you understand...

Mick, were those fresh Curt Mangan sting on blue? Really noticible with the ts10 and the delay.
Dan, I did notice that you played the star trek theme with the merits pedal!

I love Chappers and the boys but that Snake Oil pedal is just an Inferior Jhs @ pedal. With less gain

The Meris Mercury7 went on my guitar and synth board, and it's NOT coming off. I sold all my other reverbs EXCEPT the GFI Specular Reverb v3, which I use for guitar only. BOTH are magic boxes.

Danelectro has been surprising lately - really enjoying the Breakdown pedal for reasons I can only articulate as “just try it and listen, you’ll get it.” Mulling over Eisenhower and 3699 but want to see what Josh’s next wave of Legends of Fuzz end up being first (will there be a Foxx Tone Machine...?)
