Yeah, it kinda is, but considering these pedals were designed specifically according to Rob's desire, of course he's gonna like them. If he took any old OD pedal, slapped his name on it and never used it, I would call him a sellout. But he actually uses these.
@Dain I am going to adress more people as "you swine" after today. Thank you. I think I may start with my undergraduate students when they get philosophy of science wrong. Then after that perhaps my brothers twin daughers, although I am more unsure of the potential repercussions on that score, there are two of them after all and they are quite fierce. Be that as it may, I shall most certainly use it to maximum effect on my answering machine and as part of the automatic signature of any official documents that I put out. I am working on a book which had the working title of "empathy in the work place" but I think now I will go for something quite a bit more assertive in the vein of S. Domesticus. Finally I am going to report in sick for an indefinite amount of time claiming I caught swine flu off my colleagues and insisting I shan't be back until they have all been responsibly put to sleep.
Oh, now the Engine makes more sense! It was noticeable the voicings of the Drive and Voice knobs were different, but not that they are actually two different gain stages that act on different frequencies. Thinking of it as a blend between them actually clears a whole lot of confusion I had about it. Having you set it up also provides more insight on what it was intended for it. The crunch really did shine here. Pretty cool video.
Casachapper lol Those pedals give you quite the range in sounds. I love them. You can get nasty gritty distortion for grind or death metal, or you can just go for beautiful thicccc overdrive sounds for jazz or blues. They rule.
I received The Very Thing along with a bunch of other cool goodies from your team at Chapman Guitars! Thank you so very much, it kicks ass! It definitely can go from boost to METAL! much appreciated.. you're a good dude and care about the musicians who use your gear
Got My SnakeOil Pedals And Man, Better in Person Than Ever, These Pedals Are worth Every Cent. I would Love to Have A Tin For Plectrums With The SnakeOil Design That Would Look Awesome On The Board. Keep Rockin Those Tune And Keepin Music Alive You Always Give A lot to This World Of Music.
I heard the Snake Oil pedals on the Andertons channel and knew I wanted them as soon as I heard them. They're the distortion pedals I always wanted. I just need to raise the cash.
Either Chappers is a stunning good artist or The pedals are really The best distortion pedals I ever have heard. They are really visually goodlooking. Sounds very Gary Moorish to me. A sound I really adore.
i've bought the ME and i have to say it's the best distortion pedal i've ever played, honestly. i never used one of the new (extremely pricey) high end pedals such as the Revv or the Friedman, BUT the ME beats everything i owned or tried. it has a great natural - amp-like - response, a smooth distortion that can sound all the way up to a very pissed off "british" tone, and lots of usable levels of gain. try it! (Chappers is awesome, by the way, so it could be both :) )
You are getting some great sounds here Rob, nice playing. But you can't "review" your own stuff - what this video is ... is a product demo/advertisement from the company owner. If you want reviews on TH-cam, send them out to other TH-cam guitarists that aren't affiliated with Snake Oil, Chapman or Mythos.
I haven't seen this, but I know that Rob is the kind of guy who wouldn't be biased towards his own products. Or maybe he is, I don't know lol. Either way a new Chap upload is a treat!
@@joeobrien6998 That could be definitely possible. As an entrepreneur and guitar gear manufacturer, you obviously want the best of the best to show and stand out y'know
Pedals sound great, although a bit soft if you want them to cut thru in a mix, but it can be how the video was recorded. I will check out Rabea's and other demos, but I will probably buy both.
When I read your title, I immediately thought of something actor Steven Seagal allegedly said a while back...” I just finished reading the best script I’ve ever read in my life.” “Really, who wrote it?,” “I did.” However, I’ll trust a Rob Chapman self-evaluation more than a Steven Seagal self-evaluation every time!
These sound great here. I'm looking forward to them showing up in-store in the states so I can give them a go in person. The high gain demo sounds really chewy, though I would want just a bit more top end.
In the Netherlands, as you Rob should know, we call something like this "Wij van WC Eend", translate "We of Toilet Duck". Toilet Duck or actually "WC Eend" is a popular brand of toilet cleaner who started their commercials like that. The opinion of the fabricator doesn't matter, because a butcher will also never say his meat is of poor quality. So the phrase of the toilet cleaner stuck and everyone here knows it means that it's like tooting your own horn. So Rob reviewing your own stuff... eh? Don't become a toilet duck mate. Showcasing is a different matter though, which I feel this is.
First of all: The WC Eend thing was very interesting. Good to know! But I strongly disagree with your impression of this video since he just showed us how he as the designer of this pedal uses it and a little bit what he had in mind in the process. If he would have constantly called it the best pedals in the world i would totally agree, but that just didn't happen
I’m not sure what it is, and I’m sure it’s different in the room but to my ears it sounded like the tone control was lowered on the guitar for this video..? The sound was almost muffled and didn’t seem to have much presence or clarity. Although that may have been the preference for the player, I would like to hear them in person and perhaps crack up some high maids or present to see if it can cut in a band setting. Absolutely one of the most beautiful pedal sets I have ever seen
I was a longtime fan, but unsubbed over this video.. deleting comments because you don't like them is wrong, especially when you are advertising pedals that you profit from.. and stating you are being impartial.. then say.. I'll tell you why they are worth it, that last part negates any impartiality.. then to delete that comment, well.. just wrong Rob. Reviewers should be reviewing your pedals, not you... no matter how much you try to claim impartiality, it's negated by your tie-in. If I was a troll I would understand, and expect to have comments deleted.. when I'm trying to point out something that might not be obvious to you, that's wrong. No company reviews their own products, that review wouldn't be trusted.

Rob, just a thought but, what would a Chapman with a set of dimarzio paf 59s and 50s wiring sound like with those pedals. Something I'd like to see. The pickups sound amazing perfecto de castro did a demo with them, the sound awesome.
With a guitar and amp combination like that it's going to be hard for those pedals to sound bad, maybe the katana and a similarly priced guitar would have been a better review.
Well, I thought "oh great...just what the world needs...another pedal" but these are killer. I would love to slap a few on my board. And the Neunaber is the best reverb on the planet, hands down. What a killer guitar. You sure you want your son to have it? lol

Indeed! He's just a shifty Snake Oil salesman! :D
Biased for tone! A soothing concoction of gain, fuzz and distortion. It'll cure what ails ya.

That main riff to "All " is such a great sounding piece of music . Love it .Those pedals do sound great in the hands of the designer.
Steve Durrant He didn’t design them.
Great sounds, I enjoy them myself!
That’s the cleanest “clean” signal I’ve heard you use Rob! lol good tones!
mike s
It pales in comparison to fluffs „clean“ tones
These pedals sound freekin awesome love the casing so artsy - nice playing Rob as usual. Love your feel.
Pedals sound great Rob!!! Thanks!!
You play with ease,sounds magic.
At first was gonna buy just one. But now. Im sold on both!

Bit of both probably. Chappers does know his way around a fretboard and his company makes decent gear too (or so I've heard).

Well done & tasteful, Chappers!💪🏻👍🏻👋🏻Cheers, Harry

The Marvellous Engine sounds amazing. The gain sounds like a pushed preamp and the voice sounds like a pushed power amp stage. To me...

If a pedal combo can go from mild classic rock to making Ola England happy (see the latest Will It Chug) it’s probably pretty awesome

Rocking that Soundgarden shirt. Hell yeah
