$10.00 Rustoleum Paint Job / Skoolie School Bus Conversion

- In this video I show how I prepped and painted my 2005 Ford E-350 Diesel Mini School Bus. I bought 10 cans of Gloss Rustoleum, Smoke gray, spray paint for a total of $43.66. I signed up for a credit card that took $25.00 dollars off of my purchase. I ended up using 7 cans of paint and keeping one extra to do touch ups later. I took the two remaining cans back and that brought the total cost to paint the bus to $9.62. For that price I can live with any imperfections.

Not a bad price at all. I picked up paint at Home Depot even though I'm a Lowes guy, Signing up for that credit card really put a dent in the price. Once you get all the windows, and everything taped off, theres really not a whole of bus left. Seven cans painted the body, I hung on to an extra can just in case. Also this is a pretty small bus, with single wheel base in the rear and only 4 windows on the sides. The Bus is starting to come to life, I was standing on the roof the other day and someone drove by and gave me a thumbs up. I took that as the bus is looking good, hopefully the neighbors don't think I'm nuts.... But their watching.
@@TravelingThru222 I bet the neighbors don't think you are crazy, they probably wish they had a bus. Every time I take Zephyr out I have someone come up to me and ask me about it. They usually end up saying"I've always wanted to do that to a bus."
You spent more than $10 on the mSkjng tape I think. Lol
hmm Lehigh not to far from my area, I got a 5 window 2004 Chevy gas mini.
I'm in the mode but not quite ready to paint.. seems 'easy' but.. I still need to put on the rubber coat on the roof.. after that its update insurance and inspection on my registered RV (skoolie)

Hey! Cool video. Just got an e350 4 window short bus, and sadly i need to paint the yellow, even though i love it how it is. How did you get a good deal on the spray paint? I read in another comment you left that you signed up for the Home Depot credit card or something? Could you give me some more details on how you did it, thanks!! Justin
Good luck on you’re Skoolie project. Trying to remember the purchase of the paint, I think I got a discount on the quantity I bought, the. I signed up for a credit card which took a large percentage off the bill. It worked out to being $10.00 for the paint. I got all of the masking tape for free.
Wait so I know this was a long time ago but when you sanded what did u sand? Like the whole thing I’m confused. Also was that just like regular spray paint? Thanks for helping my tryna do this myself!
So when you're sanding you just want to take the shine off of the existing paint. I used Gloss Rustoleum spray paint.
After you sand the bus are you supposed to wash it off or wipe it or wipe it with cleaning solution? Thanks :)
Yes, wiping it down wouldn't hurt. If you wanted to go above and beyond, you could wipe it down with rubbing alcohol.

what did you use to wipe it down with after you sanded?
I didn't really do anything special, just wiped it down with a damp rag and let it air dry. So far so good.
