Chuck I just want to reiterate: you should totally add some affiliate Amazon links to the descriptions. It’d warm my heart to know that while I’m shelling out the cash I was already gonna spend on this stuff, I’m also adding a few cents into the pocket of the fella who pointed me that way to begin with

I'm so jealous! My bus needs paint so bad! Part of me fantasies about recruiting some nomad friends at the bus fair and doing a quick and dirty scuff-n-roll job, barn raise style afterward 🙏 back and roof look good, but the rest is 3 colors 🤦🏼‍♂️

I was just taught a trick by my brother with the reflective tape and stickers. If you take your time and heat your "metal" around and the reflective tape it self for 2-3 minutes it just peels off. I put the heat gun down pulled up a corner and started pulling and it just peeled off glue and all. The reflective had been on there for 18 years, best lesson I have learned in a long time.....patience "heat the metal". All tape was off bus with in 90 minutes. :)

Chuck. You could have taken the original panel, to the paint store, and had them shoot it on the computer. It will give you THEE EXACT COLOR, you had. AND the formula as well.
I'm professional painter and it's spot-on when they shoot it on the computer. Just saying for next time. ✌🏼♥️🌱

hopefully next time wont be for a long time :) the tricky part was that the computer match for this paint wasnt available in the brand we wanted to use, and we had to add flattening agent to get the match and convert the whole recipie to single stage. couldnt resist getting custom lol. thanks for watching

Good video. I am the sort to do all my own work if possible. Painting was one thing I considered farming out. But I hope I am able to do it myself. I grew up in a junkyard, my father still builds classic and custom cars, but he has always absolutely detested paint work, so I learned how to weld, use a lathe, all sorts of maintenance and repair, but never learned paint.

I give my pelvic area more time and attention to stretch out since my left hip is always tight, and it will give me the blues if I don’t stretch. Yes, give yourself grace because you’re on your life journey! Namaste 💕💐🙏🏾

I initially didn't use etching primer on galvanneal steel and just primed it with Rust-Oleum farm and implement primer and at the end the masking tape peeled the paint and primer down to bare steel when I removed it, and this happened only on the galvanneal steel parts, not on existing bus' metal, so now I always recommend people put etching primer on galvanneal parts. I don't trust the advertisement that galvanneal steel is ready for painting.

Good video however , Wes should have know it's not " modeling " it's Mottling . Full definition is ....... Mottling (or clouding, striping, shadowing, bleaching, misting, floating, precipitation, misting etc) is a colour variation type of paint problem due to uneven distribution of metallic flakes. From the definition, it is clear that this kind of problem happens to metallic base coats, especially to silver colours with coarse metallic particles. There are four groups of causes for mottling.. Wes also did the forbidden act of running his bare hands over the surface , should have had latex gloves on to prevent the natural oils from contaminating the surface and actually having the tack rag between his hand and the surface will detected the imperfections much better. Wes does have his spraying pattern down very well just a little off on his prep work. Yes I am very critical when it comes to prep work however I have learned over the years how important these little steps are. Chuck you are by all means the most informative youtubber on youtube hands down . Thank you for what you do .

good work, you showed us all how to paint a bus like a Pro, where do us regular skoolie people get a sponsor let alone find the people to do all that professional work on our skoolies or better yet where do find that extra 10.000 dollars plus, which is what all that is gonna cost us regular bus folk, your video proves that Chuck Cassidy is really just a character developed for youtube and not a "real" person, that $1700 dollars is just for the paint alone which in turn in real life would be $2500 dollars at the body shop, i wonder how much the sealers cost? then there's all the labor involved,...that bodywork done by buddy wes would be another 5 grand, I wonder how many people really helped in prepping that bus, then there's the cost of the shop and the paint booth rentals this is totally unrealistic for 95 percent of real skoolie owners and WAKE UP SKOOLIE OWNERS

This is true, this wouldn't be possible for the "average" person getting into the bus world. But Chuck isn't the average person. Chuck has dedicated nearly a decade of his life to this community. He has studied, researched, built, and networked. I think this is an incredible example of hard word and investing in what you believe in. It's also a great example of how the community supports each other. Spicy meatball, it seems like you're frustrated because you don't seem to be finding the same solutions. I get that. But I think there's a lot to take away from this video. You can find a way to get it done, sure not this exact way, but that's your story to write. I bought my first bus in 2017 after getting evicted and having nothing to my name. That's the beauty of bus life - it is for everyone. It can fit anyone's story. While your frustrations on your project are valid (we've all been there), to attack Chuck's character is a dishonorable thing to do. There's no need to stoop to that level. He's done a lot for this community, including offer his knowledge for free on youtube. And as someone who first only knew him from online, and then had the privilege of meeting him then building alongside him, I can assure you he is a standup guy. I wish you the best on your project, truly.

@@REGRETLYSS1 and look at the first person to stand up for the "Character" that plays chuck cassidy the "mistress" and one of the most unbelievable phony's on youtube the one who "built" along side of him, don't you mean the person who's bus was mostly built by the man as she stood back and watched and pounded the occasional nail metaphorically of course, for b footage of her youtube tripe, the only thing chuck cassidy has done for the skoolie community is put up a true smokescreen and played his manufactured character well enough to fool the masses, I know it's quite unusual to hear someone who's not heaping praise on the man but I speak bluntly and speak for those who may be afraid to speak and as someone who sees through all the bullshit this guy has been spewing for years , you mention stories in your response, did you or chuck ever consider telling the truth once in a while rather than telling a "story" or at the least some made up tales? theres quite a difference between fiction and non fiction

@@spicymeatball2052 well sheesh! You sure seem upset. You know, i forgive you. To feel the need to attack and name call people you've never met in real life, I feel for you. If you ever have the courage to step out from behind the keyboard warrior position of hiding, feel free to share your name, face, and present your work. Now that takes integrity, something chuck has. In fact, i want to give you that opportunity. Because you're a real person, going through real things, and I respect that. Go ahead and email regretlyss@gmail.com. From there we can facetime, and you can say these words to my face, my very real face, in my very real bus. I've made this offer to many internet trolls, and so far 0 have had the balls to do it. Maybe you'll be the first! Still wishing you the best, despite your hate.
