I dunno. Having the wherewithal to tackle so many projects and succeed in solving them not only gives you control and a sense of accomplishment , it means you know how to access components and repair them. I wish I'd been able to do it all myself instead of outsourcing. Kudos to Bussy McBusface for doing it all and documenting it at the same time. That's a feat! You guys are inspiring. ❣️
Mike the job is always twice as tough for "Southpaws". :) I have some leftover "Fireball Red Metal Flake" that would make that Bus Sing. :O) For cleaning after scuff coating the primer I use denatured alcohol. Thanks for taking us with you on this job.

However, if I didn't live at the Jersey Shore I would have come and helped, using social distancing of course. haha, When you guys were working on the inside of your big beautiful bus I bet not once did you think WHY DID WE GET THIS BIG FRIGGING BUS? like you've been doing for the past 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 days. At the point of painting I think if it had been ‘me’ I would’ve been tickled to death to have left it primered after looking at that funky yellow all that time! Lol! Mike, you’ve done a fantastic job so far....geez, just the sanding, taping, and, putting the plastic up was a major feat conquered in itself! I can’t wait to see the rest of the job, and, especially the color y’all chose! And, like, Kerrie, I didn’t catch the giveaway either! Love you guys! Stay safe and I’ll see you in the next video!
I feel for you guys! I recently painted a 15 X 24 room in my home and the pre-painting cleaning and masking the windows and moldings drove me nuts! I can't even imagine what you are going through ! This is by far the MOST labor intensive project for you I'm sure. LOL ! you still have eyeballs on the sander !
I know it's a lot of work...but on this side of the fence it sure is exciting to watch it unfold...especially with your attention to detail... the end results have been truly amazing...!! So excited for Part 2... :)
Hi guys the bus is coming out real good 👍 Mike I think I know that when you started the video you were painting that color in the color was blue 💙 I'll wait and see keep up the good work 👍 see you on your next video
You're lucky you get to take your time to paint your bus I didn't have that opportunity with mine my insurance company said I had to paint it before they would insurance it
Yeah! But I'm binge watching all your videos, so it will be revealed in a couple of videos. So the jokes on you. 😆🤣😜😂 I am loving your content and your chanel..
Definitely very high standard of painting...as with everything else..it won't be peeling off anytime soon...love the ol "camera and grabber" trick lol...love seeing the challenges over come...would have loved to know what audiobook you were listening to lol
Hi Mike, Hi Kerry, see you both looking good, I know exactly how you feel about the job you have just done because that is my trade but I think its one of the best trades there is, anyway I think you have done a great job both of you and sanding the bus down I will admit is hard work.. Cant wait to see the next video, so take care you two and have a great weekend, love to you both...
YAYYY! So excited you guys are at this stage! This is one of the ones that make the biggest "immediate" difference I feel. But at the same time, I'm kind of glad we are not there yet but because of how timeconsuming it is lol. I cannot wait to see the color!

There you go, kicking up that tool envy again 🤣. omg, do we have to go back & watch ALL the videos to find the “big” clue ?! 🧐. Next time have a sanding party and invite all the people you don’t want to be friends with anymore lol 😆 gotta say your determination & dedication to such a tedious task is IMPRESSIVE !! Bravo ! 👍🏻. Can’t wait to see color. Guessing game begins 🤣
HAHAHAHA! Those shirts you sent are my favorite shirts!!! They are also the only ones I havent trashed building this skoolie! Kerry wont let me wear them for working on the bus!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Silly, the key west shirts are seriously ! Cheap ! Ass shirts. So cheap I’m ashamed to tell you 🤣. Trash ‘em 🤣🤣. Will send more 👍🏻😁. Now the shark butt shirt .... no. Kerry ‘s turtle shirt.... no. Those don’t trash. But KW ones... less than $3. Trash em 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You’re doing one hell of a great job! It is true, the real work is before all the paint for an amazing finish. Mike’s got a pretty good voice! I think it’s going to be blue because of the bluebird sign!
G'day great job and you still have your sense of humour, I know that's a hard job the sanding just becomes that fatiguing then you have to rap it. The big picture is really looking good. Cheers John
I helped my fiance im his auto body shop and my job was sanding and masking. Most of the sanding of primer was wet sanding with 320 grit. Then 400 grit. I did some 12 passenger vans but never anything as large as your bus. My hat is off to you two.
@@m3ss1na were you asking me? If repairs left any bare metal I would spray with primer. If just prepping previous paint finish I would wet sand with 320 just surface not down to bare metal. We used regular automotive paint and only used lacquer a few times too labor intensive.
i cant believe how easy and effortless that was. it took yall like twenty minutes to do.. :P no idea why people complain about it. looked easy to me lol jk love yalls work. soooo excited to see the color..
family owns body shop with 40'+ booth and you are explaining exactly what we would do for buses and beverage trucks, you did not mention this part but before the clear coat we would do a wet sand after the last coat of paint dried.
@@BussyMcBusface It has been many years about 20 years but i think it was 1200 to 1500 grit a water hose and tired arms. Also i reread my original post and the color sanding or wet sanding is done after clear coat to remove that orange peel skin look. The grit depends on how many layers of clear used. Keep in mind this is really only done to get a shiny glass top look like you find in show cars. I really do not think you need to do this with a bus
It was actually a harbor freight spray gun but I believe I paid $75 for it because it was the higher-end version of their simple sprayers. The sprayer worked very well and I have no complaints. That said, I do not have a lot of experience to tell you whether or not it's really good or not. It got a lot of great reviews on TH-cam.
3M puts out pads for sanding vehicles for painting they have a green pad and a red pad. Red pad is prior to priming and green pad is what you use on the primer before you put down color.

Commercial airless paint sprayer........... You can shoot virtually any kind of paint through them including automotive. Much wider spray pattern as well, 12-16 inches. That's what, 2-3 times the gun you're using? Harbor Freight has one for around 200.00
I personally thing that the paint brush method will work but consistent coverage will be a problem. If you are using automotive clear coat, you have a limited amount of time to lay down the paint before it starts to harden. A cheap sprayer made all the difference in the world.
I personally would go get a 35 gallon compressor or borrow one that has a pretty high air flow and then I would go to harbor freight and buy an inexpensive HVLP gun.
