Thank you for your honest opinion. This is the best review I've seen on ledger nano s vs s Plus vs x. He's so sincere. That chicken crying didn't let me hear everything. But jokes apart you did a good review here.
Your review is right-minded. What little I can add is that Nano X has a battery, which is a big disqualifier for me. S has no battery, which is great, and I *think* same for S Plus. Second, I would set the entry cost a little higher than you did because a good best practice is to have a spare, so you can restore fast and easily if something happens to the active one. (I know - you can restore to any wallet using the seed phrase, but if you restore to a software wallet or a Trezor, you'll be in a different ecosystem of signing apps and Ledger Live may not work the same way - potential headache.) Third, I consider the certification a good feature of the Ledger because it means *somebody* should have checked the code for the presence of a root kit. Most people wouldn't know how to do that, and it's worth paying for. Fourth, yes, order direct, and make the ship-to address something OTHER than your home. @Rhett , another great video.

I just got a Nano X and what I noticed when putting the Nano S Plus and then the Nano X in the cart is that the Nano S charges you over $20 for shipping plus taxes and the Nano X doesn't charge you shipping but still charges taxes. So the Nano X actually isn't $170. I think the Nano X is still a better value to avoid the additional shipping cost. I think the bluetooth comes in handy if you want to do transactions on the go.

I personally have all my bitcoin in cold storage (off exchanges) which means to sell them I would have to transfer them back to the exchange to get USD back. The only difference is you’re custodying the coins yourself instead of trusting some company (like Coinbase or Gemini) to hold the coins for you (coins on exchanges are susceptible to hacks - Mt Gox, exchanges can turn off your ability to withdraw - Binance, etc) I’ll make a video showing how to move coins from Gemini onto Ledger Nano S+ and then back to Gemini
@@RhettReisman I wish there was a way to transfer your coins between your own wallets without incurring fees. At least Gemini allows 10 free transfers a month. Goes great automating transfers to my cold storage using AWS. 😃

Three questions, 1) is the S+ not compatible with IOS? 2) does S+ allow Cardano wallets without the need of wallets like yoroi? 3) does the amount of money you have in each coin make a difference with S+?
1) you have to import the accounts from desktop, not full functionality 2) you need third party wallet according to this www.ledger.com/cardano-wallet/ 3) amount of money doesn’t make a difference
I might be dumb - but surely having your private key stamped into metal is a massive risk as anyone involved from production to delivery could just nab your crypto?
I would get it directly from the website. Amazon through the official Ledger store is probably fine, but never know how Amazon is actually doing order fulfillment.
But I don't get how a seed phrase of 256 bit can recover many keys of 256 bits how the are from different blocks chain?? It's looking like it's just a key of database out side of your keys... Because it's can be recovered with out your keys... So what the difference with binance or Coinbase? And can get hacked to if they have the key or the government can force them to give the keys Etc...
Ledger doesn’t have your keys. You have your own keys. The keys are to every wallet you generate on the device. If you don’t like the security you can create a multisig with devices from different manufacturers or for BTC just go with a coldcard for maximum security
@@RhettReisman thanks for your article , I already know about it... It's not that my concern, for example with your ledger can you see your seed ( or private keys) and use it directly with a other type of wallet ... It could be already a start of progress... How you can be so sure you created the keys and they was not given to you ( even you have random generator who has the skills to be sure they are random, and aren't set who can be recovered many trick s are possible in fact so many)?... So the wallet company have them...
If you want to implement that level of security you can black out your windows and roll dice and generate your own BIP39 seed phrase and put that into the ledger. Or roll dice into a ColdCard a ledger and a trezor and create a multisig with three different devices and 3 different fully random rolled by you seed phrases.
I don't think it offers a discount (or ledger didn't send a discount description in the email they sent me), I think that link just tracks how you entered ledger.com :/
Some bad actor would still need to press buttons on the device to sign a trade so I think a hack like that is unlikely. But to your point, I think carrying these around with you all the time (regardless of Bluetooth) is not super smart.
I think paper is better than titanium.. Basically you can write your own BS code into your seed phrase that only you know is BS so it can be hidden away, but if its ever found, it's still safe. All the metal type wallets I found didn't allow for any BS words to be inserted. So i'd rather have a paper that is still safe even when found, rather than a metal piece that if it's found, it's compromised.
I hear you, and to each their own. My two cents: with paper you run the risk that when it’s found you can’t read it because it’s wet/ashes/etc. As far as writing BS words and then using another code to crack the BS that only you know, it’s not a good solution for inheritance specifically. As a best practice, you should try to make the system as idiot proof as possible.
Sorry nothing to do with this vid, BUT its important for all ur subs to know... Gemini have updated thier Taker/Maker API Fee to .40%/.20%... Please make a video talking about how this effects ur investments strategies, also maybe research other exchanges API fees for comparison
Unfortunately, not that I’m aware of. Ledger just sent out that referral link didn’t provide a discount code or any details of offers related to the link

Just to note.. if you want an s plus, and have IOS phone, but also have a PC, you can just do your transactions on the PC…. But still see you ledger live balance and everything on your IOS phone.
That’s a good point - can be annoying to manage though especially since the S+ is so similar in price. Don’t think there’s a good reason to get the S anymore :/
@@RhettReisman I don't get what the op is saying...so we can't store more than 4 crypto on the S+? And you aren't recommending it anymore cuz of that reason? Cuz it is due to being 1.5mb storage?
He’s saying that on the S, even though there is a limit of 4 wallets you could theoretically if you had 6 different coins you wanted to store uninstall and reinstall wallet apps on the S every time you wanted to sign a transaction. Even though this is possible it is really annoying. I’m saying that even though this is possible to do on the S, you should just get an S+ since the prices are so similar and you wouldn’t have to do that using the S+. And per my prediction at the end of the video, ledger recently announced that they are discontinuing the S model since the S+ is strictly a better product. I’m still predicting that they’ll release and X+ model at some point later next year with NFC or some fancy bells and whistles like that.
I believe so, but I wouldn’t use it (others might) depends how much you trust Amazon to actually ship you something from the source vs doing it for yourself. Even if there was a 50% discount on amazon I’d probably go from ledger just for the peace of mind (other people might just take the discount and never think about it again - personal preference)

I use the Ledger X I’ve never used or heard of D’Cent (it’s also not supported by multisig providers like Unchained or Casa)
Three questions, 1) is the S+ not compatible with IOS? 2) does S+ allow Cardano wallets without the need of wallets like yoroi? 3) does the amount of money you have in each coin make a difference with S+?
1) you have to import the accounts from desktop, not full functionality
2) you need third party wallet according to this www.ledger.com/cardano-wallet/
3) amount of money doesn’t make a difference
@@RhettReisman thank you for that
not compatable with IOS.... so i cant use the s+ on my Mac?
You can use it on your Mac. You can’t use it from your iPhone
I set up an S+ using my Mac here: th-cam.com/video/E6QayhALDTM/w-d-xo.html
Did you say it’s not good to buy Ledger for Bitcoin? That was what I wanted to buy 😭
I use ledgers in a multisig for my Bitcoin, maybe I misspoke?
Some hardcore bitcoin people don’t like ledger at all and would prefer coldcard.
I might be dumb - but surely having your private key stamped into metal is a massive risk as anyone involved from production to delivery could just nab your crypto?
The metal doesn’t have the seed on it when it is produced.
You stamp your seed into the metal when you receive blank plates.
@@RhettReisman Ahhhhhh, that would explain the hammer haha. thanks
Exactly lol
Ok..... brought mine from Amazon, but not used. Am I good?
I would get it directly from the website. Amazon through the official Ledger store is probably fine, but never know how Amazon is actually doing order fulfillment.
Thx great video.
Glad to help 🙏
@@RhettReisman so how they can recover your keys with out your device? So necessary they have a ash of your keys... If have a other explanation...
Look up BIP39. Here’s an article: www.ledger.com/academy/bip-39-the-low-key-guardian-of-your-crypto-freedom
Tried using your affiliate code but the site said it was a invalid code for some reason. Does it come with a discount?
I don't think it offers a discount (or ledger didn't send a discount description in the email they sent me), I think that link just tracks how you entered ledger.com :/
that BT feature could become a security risk if ur at airport around a bunch of ppl
Some bad actor would still need to press buttons on the device to sign a trade so I think a hack like that is unlikely.
But to your point, I think carrying these around with you all the time (regardless of Bluetooth) is not super smart.
Thank u! Just what I needed. Dan/Mad Slug .
Cheers Mad Slug 😤🐌
Nice review but with Ledger recovery news I don't recommend to buy Ledger anymore.
Definitely not for everyone
Very helpful
Glad to help :)
I already did 💪 th-cam.com/video/7DXDd3QHSP0/w-d-xo.html
Damn you Rhett for showing us the hammer!
Gotta drop it on ‘em sometimes 🤷♂️
Thank bro I'm getting a plus.
No problem man 🙏 let me know if there's anythign else you want to learn about :D
@@RhettReisman sub ;)
Love you 🙏❤️
Lmaooo that bridge to sell comment
It's real bro I promise
Can you store ADA?
Yep :)
Any discount code for any of these?
Unfortunately, not that I’m aware of. Ledger just sent out that referral link didn’t provide a discount code or any details of offers related to the link
Does anyone use the Trazor for Anchor protocal?
I have used a Trezor before but not sure what the Anchor protocol is
@@RhettReisman you probably don't need to know what it is at this point...
😂🤣 ignorance is bliss. Unfortunately since the last comment I found out what Anchor is and made a video about it 🤦🏻♂️
Is there a discount code
No :( just referral tracking through ledger. Feel free not to use the link though if you find a deal somewhere.
I have a nano s plus and hate it, the tiny buttons make it tricky to work with and the entire thing feels worryingly fragile.
I found the Trezor model one to be the most fragile feeling. Haven’t found one that feels super sturdy yet but I’ll keep an eye out. Keystone is best I’ve found from build quality perspective but screen could crack so who knows
@@RhettReisman I'm looking at the safe pal at the moment, looks better.. wonder what it will be like though
Yeah I’ve never used it sorry :/
I like to stick with ledger/trezor/coldcard becuase they’re compatible with Casa and unchained capital
where is safe site to buy the nano ?
The link to ledger's website is in the description
9:36 XD hahahahahahahaha
Fr paper sucks lol
Safepal is airgapped and holds NFTS
Never heard of it
Many thanks i learn a lot,, my opinion u wana wallet that save ur assets way from net ,, 100 usd nano s plus too door 🚪this mean with tax and shipping ,, for me this is more than enough to servie the job 🎉
Happy to help :)
thank you!!!
No problem :D
Could you link the official resellers that you would recomend in the US?
The only two I’m aware of are unchained.com and keys.casa
@@RhettReisman Thank you!
Cheers :)
Thanks

Just to note.. if you want an s plus, and have IOS phone, but also have a PC, you can just do your transactions on the PC…. But still see you ledger live balance and everything on your IOS phone.
Great clarification - you just can’t use the iPhone to sign transactions right?
Just got a new never opened nano s for under 20$.
SO LEDGER IS NOT GOOD FOR STORING BTC ? WHY IS THAT ?
Who said ledger is not good for storing BTC?
@@RhettReismanso many people said Tangem is better for storing btc and other cryptos because it’s cheaper
Yo let's talk about that Bridge ;)
😂🤣😂
You might to install all apps no only 4 on Nano S, just uninstall and install new, all assets stay in wallet
Ledger nano x is the goat, has more storage and you can connect on the go
Same storage as the S+ but definitely still the goat
@@RhettReisman I thought the s+ has 1.5 and the x has 2?
Both have up to 100 apps shop.ledger.com/pages/hardware-wallets-comparison
But doesn't Ledger have an official Amazon store????
I believe so, but I wouldn’t use it (others might) depends how much you trust Amazon to actually ship you something from the source vs doing it for yourself.
Even if there was a 50% discount on amazon I’d probably go from ledger just for the peace of mind (other people might just take the discount and never think about it again - personal preference)
Sorry I dont use android so nano X will do it for me
Good choice :)
Fucking Awesome Review ! ! !
Thanks man 🙏 Glad to help :)
I strictly only use my IPhone so the X is best for me
Yeah definitely worth it going with the X then

Hey, great video brother! I enjoyed watching. I still have not made my decision on which model to buy. How many blockchains does the top quality model support? Like does the Nano support ETH, BNB, CRO, ATOM, AVAX, FTM, MATIC, etc etc etc and so on? I really need to know THAT before I keep moving any further. Keep up the great work bro!

Nano X and Nano S+ support the same wallets. List here: www.ledger.com/supported-crypto-assets/
@@RhettReisman Thank you so much brother. I need one asap. I'm thinking about the Nano X. Most likely that will be my choice. This video helped allot. Thank you again. Keep up the great work!🚀
