    Recommend a monitor arm for sure, I personally decided to go for the Invision MX400 which seems to be great choice so far.

    This is a great setup. I found myself in a similar Mac-related conundrum when I was upgrading from my 1080p ultrawide screen. I ended up buying a 4K 27" Dell U2720Q (the precursor to your (U2723QE). I liked it so much that I bought additional two, for a total of three 4K displays. I bought a Razer's GPU enclosure and a Radeon RX 580 GTS to drive them and I couldn't be happier. 1 thunderbolt cable to plug my Macbook in and out for an extra three displays. Sadly, I don't think Apple Silicon supports eGPUs anymore.
    The three screens are an absolute productivity powerhouse. I used to run them both in horizontal-horizontal-vertical and horizontal-horizontal-horizontal configurations and both were excellent. I would highly recommend it.

    Your Macbook fitting just right in there between those 2 monitor stands was kind of satisfying... Still I would recommend to go with monitor arms, since it makes your desk a lot cleaner, not only for looks and astethics but also for simple desc space. For example you could have a sound bar / notepad / deco plants right under your floating monitors :)

    I have the exact same model, and one thing that I hate about this setup is that the macbook doesn't support display port daisy chaining, because theoreticaly you should be able to plug in your mac with a single usb-c cable and have both monitors conected to it, but because Apple, you need 2 cables, also had a problem with the macos virtual desktops with 2 external monitors, at random the desktops that I have on my mac screen get switched with the desktops with the external "secondary"(not marked as the main) monitor, which is very anoying when you use virtual desktops to organize your windows

    • @withmarko
      @withmarko  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I've ran into the the same issue with daisy chaining... But as far as the workspaces getting re-arranged. In my case the solution was to mark on of the external displays as main. That way the windows stay mostly where I expect them to be.

    • @gatu-net
      @gatu-net ปีที่แล้ว

      Idk, maybe your setup works because you use the mac in "clamshell"(idk how to spell), but I use the mac open, and the Dell maked as the main monitor, so idk it's just very frustrating when I paid the price of a used car for my computer 🤡

    • @ChandraKanth7
      @ChandraKanth7 ปีที่แล้ว

      To fix this problem I would recommend getting a Display Hub, connect your monitors to the hub and connect the single usb-c cable to your mac. That’s my setup and I haven’t faced any issues. I like these monitors, but I just love the new Lenovo ThinkVision 27 UHD monitors.

    Hey Marko, I was wondering where did you buy the table from? Or was it custom made? I have to make most sense of my 'home office', whilst the desk has to be in our living room, since I do not have a dedicated office room. And also, I would need really long desk, as my wife would also need the space for her laptop. Love the minimalistic look, something I am also looking forward to. I am bit 'stuck', because I bought the Alienware OLED (Ultrawide Monitor for gaming) and the current table does not offer the support to mount a monitor arm.. so looking into new table / desk. :)

I am planning on doing something similar so me and my girlfriend can both use the setup with our own macs without a big hassle. Thanks.

    Definitely a good choice. Apple has pretty good products, but you're never sure if all the cables will be in or if they're calling $50 for it. I've also recently noticed that these newer Dell monitors look very good, because of those minimal bezels. IMO they're better than the Apple Studio Display.

    In my case going for a 27" 4k 144hz monitor changed the way I work. My 2nd one is a 27" 4k 60hz and I hate looking at it because of the lower refresh rate.

    • @withmarko
      @withmarko  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, I had this internal debate for a long time whether to go with a higher refresh rate monitor. But in my case I couldn't find enough information out there about running a double 4k high refresh monitor setup on the mac, and it seemed like I might run into issues, so I decided to play it safe. Are you on the mac as well?

    • @bartzalewskidev

      @@withmarko The battery degradation is real when it comes to running one 27 4k 60hz and second 27 4k 144hz and unplugged. It's noticeably faster (battery degradation) than with dual 4k 60hz. Any performance issues? Nothing noticeable when it comes to CPU usage (that's probably how it should be). GPU % usage I haven't tested yet but I do frontend and I don't get any visible issues. About double 4k 144hz I can't say anything as for now I only have 4k 144hz and 4k 60hz and for now, I don't feel a need to buy another 4k 144hz because 90% of my work is done on 4k 144hz and the rest is on 4k 60hz (Slack, Jira, ChatGPT, Pomodoro, etc.) I'm on an MB Pro M1 14 base model. • @bartzalewskidev
      @bartzalewskidev ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rotivanov The display quality is remarkably comparable to that of a Retina display to the extent that the differences are nearly indiscernible. However, it's crucial to select a 27-inch model, as this size offers a 4K resolution with a density of 163 DPI, which is often referred to as mini-HiDPI. This feature ensures sharper, clearer images without visible pixels, as opposed to the lower clarity I experienced with QHD.
      In making my choice, I was torn between the LG 27GP950-B and the Gigabyte M28U. Although the M28U was enticing, being $400 less expensive, it offers a slightly lower DPI of less than 160. Ultimately, I opted for the LG model because having a mini-HiDPI display was a priority for me to guarantee the level of clarity I needed.

    Monitor arms will definitely help to free up space. Desk shelves will let you hide unnecessary items on your desk (books, macbook, pens, etc.). Instead of using tape, you could invest in reusable velcro tape for the cables - makes it easier to re-adjust whenever you need to. Not sure about your cables situation under the desk, but personally I use a cable management tray and just chuck the power strip in there along with any stray cables

    Have you tried daisy-chaining them and connect them using single USB-C port?

    • @withmarko
      @withmarko  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey good question! I did try daisy chaining them, but MacBooks don’t support it fully. The furthest I got was to have them mirror each other. Seems like daisy chaining doesn’t work through usbc on the Mac, only thunderbolt 4, and this monitor isn’t thunderbolt. The monitor supports daisy chain though and in 2 different ways: usb-c and also display port master/slave. But usb c didn’t work with the Mac and while the display port daisy chain worked, because Mac doesn’t support the master / slave feature, they are just mirroring each other.

      @@withmarko Yes i think there is this thing called multi-stream or something else but it kinda converts the usb-c via display port into 2 HDMI ports for example ( on most usb-c hubs atleast ) and mac only supports thunderbolt docks in that matter. Basically only "real" ports.

    Do you plan to add a Dock instead of having to plug a cable per monitor?

    • @withmarko

      Yes, I actually have a dock I got from ugreen, that I have been using at work, but I will bring it home one of these days 😄

      @@withmarko oh very nice! Would you mind showing it in a future video with the 2 displays working? I have an m2 pro myself but my current Dock will only mirror the displays, so I’m trying to decide what dock to get to replace it!

      Hey of course, the dock is this one. And it works great with 2 external monitors:

    Marko get two of those Gas monitor arms, make sure to buy two separate signle monitor arm and not a "double" since it's WAY easier to setup the monitors. I bought them for my setup and I will never go back

    Hey there Marko.
    I loved your previous setup and mostly the new one.
    Please, can I ask that you please give me your old system or monitor, I will highly appreciate it.
    I'm so sorry if this may seem embarrassing but, it's important to me.

    Good afternoon Marko! I know this is off topic in the video in question, but I wanted to know if you, before entering the world of programming, had difficulty learning programming logic? Thanks in advance!

    Hey awesome setup, how do you bypass only display 1 monitor on M chips? are you using Display link? :) or is there a new solution to this problem, if we want more than 1 screen on a macbook m chip?

      He is using Macbook Pro 14 inch with at least M1 Pro. Can connect up to 4 external monitors if I'm not mistaken without the dock. The single monitor limitation only applied to Macbook Air and Macbook Pro 13 inch.

    I am going to start learning the backend and I am very, very confused. I want someone to tell me whether to start with C# or Javascript. What is required in the labor market? Do you advise me to start with it? I hope you would answer me and tell me what to start with. I am confused, my friend, and thank you.

      If you want to learn JavaScript for the backend NestJS is a nice framework for building REST APIs

    AAAAH the well known desk setup optimization disorder DSOD as I'd like to name it. Currently in it cause just got a new dasktop pc which is way to powerful for my dual 1080p monitors (not to mention how ugly they feel when plugged with my mac ew and that gap with the monitor arm cause the vesa mount is not placed the same on both) I'm kinda kneeling towards a tripple monitor layout with either two one on top of the other in landscape then the third on the side vertically or the classical three way landscape setup... Can't wait to see how you gonna do it on your desk !

    • @withmarko
      @withmarko  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha DSOD 😂 Wow I would love to see that triple monitor setup, man! I'd personally probably go with a three way landscape, but curious how you will do it!

    If I were you, I would put the monitors on a wall holder and add some cool pixel clock somewhere on the table and I would also add some plant like monstera, to feel more like you're in nature.

    • @withmarko
      @withmarko  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thank you for the suggestions! I am unfortunately unable to place them on the wall, since the landlord doesn't allow drilling the wall, but I actually do have a pixel clock and I will add it when I also add a desk shelf. 😃

    Good starting setup Marko,
    Maybe you need a large mouse pad like a fancy carpet👍
    I have a question about the HDMI cable that you got with the monitors,
    Did your PC have a plug-in for it already?
    Or must you buy a unique converter for it?
