    you talked a lot about color depth, bitrate, when talking about the monitor's connectivity, and that you have a davinci panel, so clearly you do a lot of color grading, but your room is not built to be an optimal grading environment, and it doesn't look like your monitor is properly calibrated for rec 709 grading, and that monitor isn't true hdr. If you just edit for youtube, you're probably fine, but if you do any freelance color work, you might want to make some adjustments so that you can produce the best product possible.

    • @andresvidoza
      @andresvidoza  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes exactly!! For youtube it doesnt matter all that much. I should have mentioned that. The only true rec709 monitor we have at the office is a 6k Pro Art monitor from Asus. However, for the gaming features I dont mind giving up true color gamma. Its not the end of the world for us. Thank you for the comment!!

    So I have a question: My desk setup includes my gaming PC, MacBook Pro, and work laptop. I've always struggled to find a monitor that can work well for all of them. A 4k monitor for productivity (ie. staring at code all day) would be great, but even my 3070 Ti isn't exactly a 4k gaming powerhouse, so I use a 1440p display instead. How do these 4k monitors look when run at 1440p for games, compared to a native 1440p display?

    • @Havanu81
      @Havanu81 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Use DLSS on performance setting. Which amounts to 1080p upscaled. Works like a charm on my 3080 and allows 75-120fps with most games, so should be similar with a 3070ti. And I honestly can't tell the difference at that resolution.

    • @andresvidoza
      @andresvidoza  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Havanu81 this. however DLSS as cool as it is and dont get me wrong you do gain a massive increase in FPS... but careful cause if youre a competitive gamer, it might introduce some latency.

    • @EggTamago7
      @EggTamago7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the advice to both of you. I’ve mainly treated DLSS as a “thing that makes ray tracing not kill everything”, but if cranking that a bit harder can actually make 4k gaming work, that would be nice. I’m cool as long as I can get a super steady 60fps and only really play single player, so I’m not super bothered by latency.

    • @Havanu81
      @Havanu81 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andresvidoza competitive games usually don't require DLSS anyway. And I'm more of a narrative/indie gamer, truth be told. My reflexes have not aged well.

      Hi Patrick. I'm planning to get this GIGABYTE M32U monitor and I am in the same situation you were with my 3070Ti not being a powerhouse. I would like to find out if you got it eventually and if yes how did it go? Did you ever try running the monitor at 1080p instead since that's a 1 to 1 conversion and integer scaling would work better in that situation. Thank you

    Hey Andres! Love your videos and your content! I have a question for you... I recently copped a M28U so this video was perfect for me as you are using it's bigger brother the M32U. I noticed you mentioned you are connecting your Macbook to the monitor via 2 USB C Thunderbolt 3 with hub in the middle of the 2 cables. You mentioned that the cables need to support 40gbps to achieve 4K 144hz. The issue I have, is I have 1 USB C Thunderbolt 4/3 cable going straight from my M1 2020 Macbook Pro into the M28U, but I 'm still not able to get 4K 144hz... Am I misinterpreting what you mentioned in the video or am I doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciate as I am a Senior UX/UI Designer and having a 4K image with great colour correction is crucial for my profession. The 144hz is just a quality of life benifit for myself 😋

    • @Soobstance
      @Soobstance ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just to add to this. I use my gaming PC on this monitor as well via DP and it is perfect, I just wanted to use the USB C port to charge my Macbook while also getting a image displayed on screen while in clamshell mode, but I'm only achieving 4K at 60hz... But I see Andres is getting 4K at 144hz, is this because of Sandisk dock or should my 40gbps USB C cable be capable of doing this??

    I honestly do not know how you use this monitor at 4k reso on a macbook. The fonts are way too small to be even useable. I have the same monitor and I have a macbook air and I find that scalling down to 1440p is the sweet spot if you actually want to use this monitor in a productivity aspect. You can even see in this video that his dock is way to small and that a lot of apps would be way to small if you use it.

    i have a question, i’m a bit confused on how you’re getting 120 or 144 frames on the monitor…maybe i saw wrong but on apple’s site it said that the macbook 14” could do 120hz but when connected to an external it could only do 60hz.

      You have to connect to Displayport with a USB c to DP cable. Using a HDMI cable limits you to 60Hz.

      @@JohnSmith-bt4lf connecting it usbc to usbc would work also or does it have to be usbc to DP?

    Hey man, great video as always. I have a possible video idea that you could explore. It would be pretty dope if you could do a walkthrough of how you color calibrate the M32Q. I have the M34Q from gigabyte and I don’t have the slightest clue about how to color calibrate it. I’m a full stack dev and I also do web design, so I love to know l that the colors Im implementing in my designs and websites are close to accurate or actually how I’d want them to be.

      I actually have a device to calibrate monitors that we use at the office. I might be able to make a video about it.
