Washing hands, keep a distance of 1.5-2 meters, wear gloves and masks, stay at home. What is easy and difficult for russian?

I work in a correctional facility and have gotten used to washing my hands often; before I use restroom, after, and many times between. I do wash even more now, so not too much of a change for me. Nice to hear from you in Russia to see how it's going with the virus. Spasiba.

Prior to this Pandemic, most American Men did not use soap after using a public restroom. 🤢 This is something I would always pay attention to as I’m washing my hands.

Nice video, to be honest the basis hygiene culture in Russia is help the country during this pandemic.Things like taking of your shoes before entering the house and washing your hands has been part of average Russian culture. How are you coping with the quarantine ?

I would not say that many are sitting at home. It's a pity, because we have not yet reached the peak. I try not to go out unnecessarily.

Hi Tanya, How are you doing?
Where are you filming that it looks like you are in a jail cell? I know it is intentional to make a point.
That is so interesting about washing hands. I had no trouble getting used to it because I was taught it when I was little by my grandparents who were Russian. I was not aware of culture when I was very little, but looking back I realize that some of what they taught me stuck with me. They would always make my sister and I wash our hands all the time, after we came in from outside, after just playing inside, before every meal and after toilet. Oddly, in the US washing hands is less common. It is mostly only after using toilet or getting dirty. I never got lazy with it though, I kept Russian tradition of washing hands.
Hugs and such, also not popular in the US, but handshake is popular. Now in the case of close friends, even in the US, hugs are given. I know if I were to come to Russia (before pandemic), I would have gotten a lot of hugs from my friends there. I guess, even though we live very far apart, we still feel close, which makes sense given all the communicating we do. I'm even working with my best friend Marta now via remote as a teacher's assistant teaching Russians English language! I just do it because she invited me and I do it because of our friendship and I want to help Russians.
Gloves, not used to them here either. I don't wear gloves though most of the time unless I am doing some particularly messy. They say the gloves only help if you are touching things that may have droplets on them.
Masks, same here, not used to those, but they are mandatory now. Most stores and places will not let persons in if they do not have a mask.
Sadly, here our government has ceased most supplies of masks, gloves and other gear and will not let people have any of it, including hospital workers! At the same time they tell everyone that they must have these things. They are difficult to get here too. They also cost a fortune if you do find them. A lot of people have turned to making masks here as well.
Overall, I practice everything important: masks, distancing, washing hands. Sadly, some people here are against such measures, they think this is a hoax or something.
I am hearing lots of stories of Russian helping the less fortunate and even foreigners. In fact, our friend Sergey is very kind, he went with volunteers to help the socially disadvantaged a few days ago and recently helped out some girls from Thailand who are trapped in St Petersburg and can't get back to their country right now and did not have adequate masks, so Sergey found them and took a taxi to them and gave the masks!

Hi Tanya, sounds like similar rules and this week more people are on the road. I do see many wearing mask when going to grocery store and I see more clear plastic panels placed in front of cash register/check out for purpose of protecting the store employee from customer germs. I like to go out also, but for us Old people the effects of the virus is more severe and dangerous. I do not personally know a person that has this virus do you? I have heard different stories from people who say they had virus. Some say it was severe and other almost did not know they had the virus, this is confusing how effects can vary. Also heard that some animals like dogs and cats can have the virus.

Sergey Baklakov showed a vlog about a guy sewing masks to protect from COVID19. It was interesting. I asked him on his live vlog just the other day if he would ever like to do another video with you Tanya. He said he would like to but never has any opportunity to meet you again. I would like to see something with you both together again. I love your videos and I pray for your health.

thank you. yes it would be nice to make a new video together. But we are not friends with Sergei. we just do a similar job and Sergey is much more successful than me in this sense. But if there will be a new idea about new video I offer Sergei. It would be good.
