- For many this the Stelvio Pass (Passo dello Stelvio, Stilfser Joch) is considered the most magnificant road pass in Europe - typically they refer to the road on the north/east side that leads up to the top of the pass with its tight hairpin turns.
This onboard ride is approaching the Stelvio Pass from the south-east side starting just outside of Bormio.

Have not been there since 2018, looking forward to going there in early June. Again getting ideas from your videos which are a great help as i am doing Switzerland, Northern Italy and Austria in June.

War ich auch schon, allerdings andersrum auf dem Weg nach Alba. Ab Bormio bin ich über den Passo di Mortirolo gefahren und habe in einer kleinen Taverne bei Monno übernachtet. Dann ging es weiter über den Passo del Vivione nach Schilpario. Von der Strecke träume ich heute noch.
sehr schöne Ecke - den Passo del Vivione kenne ich noch nicht - das ist dann mal einer für die Zukunft ;-)

@@MotoVibes Ich suche mir auch die kleinen Straßen, wenn es Alternativen gibt. Den Reschensee am anderen Ufer befahren ist auch sehr schön.

It is an Akrapovic - unmodified and street legal ;-)
Great video! I am considering to buy a "Beast" like this (1290 SAS) and found your channel - great videos by the way! For you what are the best tires to use for this bike with your type of driving? Did you like the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II? Have you ever tried the Rally version of the tire on this bike? I saw on anotther video of yours that you disliked the Michelin Anakee Rally version due to the lack of grip. Thanks and keep sharing your rides!!!!
Thank you for your nice comment. I can absolutely recommend the 1290 SAS. however it depends very much on personal preference and the kind of riding you do. It is great for sport touring with the emphasis on sports. If you ride onroad for most of that my tire recommendation would be a 100% on road tire like the Continental Road Attack 3 which I was riding all of this season. The stock Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 performs really well as well . I was riding this tire all of last season for example in Sardinia but for street only you will be better off with CTA3. I have not done much offroad but I am planning to next season and I just ordered a pair of Mitas E07+ which similar to the rally from Pirelli. I hope this helps

Dark Visor I was using a B+W on the Sony. That's top of the line but the secret of the look is the color grading more than the ND Filter. Which editing software do you use?

Dark Visor I am using a orange and teal LUT. I am happy to email it to you. Not sure if it would work with Final Cut Pro. I am on holidays right now but I will send it once I am back home.

Glückwunsch zum Bike! das Windschild ist ein GIVI D7706S (dh die kurze Variante). Mit 180cm passt das gut. Sicherlich auch bis 185 und evtl. Bis 190 cm. Ich fahre es meist auf unterster Einstellung. Die ST Variante ist dann noch etwas höher. Hoffe das hilft.
I would like to know what kind of smartphone/gps holder do you have, i mean the one high, i would like to buy one :)
The GPS holder on top is made by BMW - you should be able to get on on Ebay - I think it was made for the BMW Navigator 4 (the current version is the 6). I had the BMW GPS and just kept it since it is made by Garmin and has pretty much all the same functionality

Thank you! I am still planning of doing a review of the bike after having owned it for 2 years now but have not gotten around to it. In short: yes, my bike also gets unstable at 200-220 km/h depending on wind, luggage, clothing, tire pressure and balance. I really like this KTM but the high speed wobble is the biggest grief I have with it. I would still buy it again but this is something KTM really needs to fix for the next generation

both good bikes - I had the 1200 GS before I bought the KTM 2 years ago ;-)

@@MotoVibes Das ist ja witzig. Ich habe das Thumbnail auch gesehen und war mir nicht ganz sicher, ob Du es überhaupt bist. Meiner Erinnerung nach waren da Koffer dran und ich dachte, Du wärst eher ohne unterwegs. Aber was weiß ich schon. Waren aber sicher coole Bilder. Du bist ja auch mehrmals am Fotomann vorbei gekommen.
Die anderen Bilder sind auch super. Kommen sicher noch demnächst 😉 Koffer sind nicht mehr so meins. Hatte ich in der ersten Saison mit der GS. Seither nur noch Soft Gepäck. Das letzte gut Bild von dieser Stelle war vor meinem Crash auf der Abfahrt. Dazu gibt es auch noch ein Video wenn ich wieder Zeit habe 😉
@@MotoVibes Ohh. Du hattest ja schon vor einiger Zeit angekündigt, dass Du das Sturzvideo noch zeigen wirst. Ist immer schlimm, so was zu sehen - aber auch halt gleichzeitig interessant, wie es in dem speziellen Fall dazu gekommen ist. Auf jeden Fall freut es mich, dass Dir selbst wohl nicht allzu viel passiert ist und die Kati auch halbwegs glimpflich davon gekommen ist (außer dem Akra natürlich).
Der Maschinist vielen Dank 😉 wer weiß wofür es gut war 😜 passiert dann doch einfach mal. Wobei es der erste Sturz nach gut 100 TKM war. Aber jetzt wo die ersten Kratzer drin sind überlege ich die nächsten Touren auch mal Offroad zu machen. Völliges Neuland für mich. 😉

Ich bin im Sommer auch erst den Stelvio und dann den Umbral gefahren. Aber Vorsicht!!! Du bist auf einmal in der Schweiz und da kann es teuer werden, wenn man noch im Atack-Modus unterwegs ist.
Marco Bomheuer so schaut es aus. Der Umbrail ist ja einer meiner Lieblings Pässe. Und da schau ich häufiger auf den Tacho 😂
Ich versteh immernoch nicht warum man sich das antut mit einem Camper das Stilfser Joch hoch zu ballern. Und dann nichtmal bei der Ausbuchtung anhalten um die offensichtlich schnelleren vorbei zu lassen.
BTW Bin das Stilfser Joch lange nicht mehr gefahren aber hab gehört da ist jetzt 60 km/h angesagt? Das war aber dann anscheinend die Seite ohne Begrenzung oder hab ich was übersehen?

Nice driving and video. And it is a beautiful bike. But the Stelvio is not a racetrack. Don’t you think you’re overtaking cars while they are overtaking byciclists is at the least tricky some times? You know the Stelvio is very popular. and thus there is heavy traffic. Go early in the morning or at the end of the day, then the road is yours! I still like to ride the Stelvio in the nearby future. Look what happend in Austria and Germany: they are closing road to motorcyclists because of to much noise and wannabe Rossi’s ....

I agree the mornings are much better and we did get to enjoy the Stelvio early that day - here is the video of the Stelvio that everyone knows th-cam.com/video/LYSuwmW1EE4/w-d-xo.html As for the riding - it would be interesting to know where you see any close calls - it was not a slow ride up but certainly not reckless racing or noisy (I have a street legal exhaust on my KTM). I usually make sure to leave good room especially between bicyclist and me. I have the greatest respect for anyone cycling up such a pass - I just do not like getting stuck behind campers and slow cars 😂
