its so dangerous you want to overtake them and they reev out into you without looking and they mad about you. In summer you cant ride this road cuz of the cyclists
Absolutely fantastic, thanks for the wonderful memory! :) Like you say the cyclists weren't that bad actually. At least thanks to them most of the way down was blocked for oncoming traffic. Definitely a nice and rare bonus :)
It wouldn't be too much of a chore to spend the whole day just going up and down those mountain roads with that exhaust popping away across the slopes, crags and cliffs of that amazing scenery.
Impressive, thank you for that video. I did these pass the opposite way last year. And, yes, there where also a lot of cyclists, but there where driving toward me. In the end I was really glad nobody hit me!
Went here on a roadtrip last year , this year im returning to do the stelvio pass in a 2009 bmw z4 straight 6 :) i would love to hear that sound in the tunnels !
RoyalJordanian Did you experienced any speed wobble on the s1000r? There's much chatting about it on the net, they say it has a very light, too light, steering over 100-110mph. What's your experience about it? Hadn't the opportunity to try out one yet.
Those cyclists were frustrating the hell out of me. Its so crazy how they just ignore everyone passing through. I saw images of myself hitting them off their bikes like that game road rash lol
+Purpose Hey hey I'm at a happy 510 lbs thank you very much ;). Seriously though most cyclists like to pretend they own the entire road especially when they ride in groups. Those kind of cyclists are frustrating for everyone on the road
Cycling is quiet and much more environmentally friendly than motorbikes. Cyclists have as much right to be on the road as motorists and they can take in more than noisy bikers. I am both a biker and a cyclist and for one I would prefer to do the pass on my bicycle.
Stunning video mate. Loved the scenery and loved the way you negotiated the cyclists with safety and courtesy (even though a few of them I'd have been tempted to slap on the way past) Loved it.
See i dont understand those cyclists "they are going downhill and they are out of breath lol " I would like to pin point a particular part of the video but i was Amazed with the views from start to finish wow absolutely AMAZING and that road is just bike heaven :) Great video Great ride RJ Thumbs up Hehehehe there you are Schaaf
This is almost as good as RidingWithTom 's road trip to the mcdonalds drive through, but he had his bike in slick mode, so it was just a bit better. :P Nice video RJ, beautiful scenery and bike :D
Favorited !!! 1. S1000rr & RJ 2. Slow and low that is the tempo 3. Incredible Mtn Views !!! 4. 8:30 +Schaaf 5. 16:30 traffic jam ??? 6. Always good stuff !!!
WOW! 200 year old road and still a beauty. At least they didn't have far to carry the stone to build all those embankments. A 6700 foot stair with 135 foot steps
I took this road very early in the morning last Summer! No Traffic, NO Cyclists going down ;-) No Caravans and almost no other bikes. Sharing these fantastic "dangerous" roads needs a lot of patience and understanding. Not too loose your mind in such a beautyfull enviroment is difficult enough.
The last time I done the Stelvio, because of some delays, I didn't start climbing the pass until 6pm, it was fantastic; the sun was just going down, there was just me and a few cyclists, a few bikers and I got top the top just in time for a Bratwurst. It would be great to get to the top early morning and watch the sunrise.
Ah mate, this road I have to do at some stage. Europe is a must see on two wheels! Those cyclists were mad! Especially the one at 16:35 that went inside of the car in the hairpin as you were going around the outside. Is the road one way at certain times to avoid collisions? As I noticed a lot of traffic going down but none coming up and I also noticed a barrier across the road just before the village at the end. The first video I saw of this road was from Holliday Rides in 2013. Then an Aussie friend of mine cycled it. I am glad that you got to ride it with the great man Schaaf!
I love those crackle's and pop's, and I've heard that if you tune the bike with the new exhaust, they go away. Does that mean they're bad for the bike?
Damn a lot of people lack tolerance. The cyclists rarely held up RJ, the cars did more harm (even to the cyclists) but you're not complaining about them. On a descent i always take as much of the road as i feel necessary, even if there is a car behind. But as soon as it is safe i pull to the side and let them pass. But very nice riding RJ
quite busy! was it a weekend? i was in Switzerland this week and the whole country was empty.. you could ride several passes with out seeing a single car or cyclist!! :D
Royal, I'd like to propose someone for the Subscriber Spotlight (no I don't know the guy, I only know he has a nice bike, nice cam and got his sound worked out too): AlwaysPsyched check his Moseltour #1 and #2 for example (I noticed his older vid's got crappier sound). And as always: Keep up the good work!
I don't know you RJ but the combination of the cyclists and the cliffs make me kinda nervous lol, they don't have mirrors and seem to love to take up all the road width.
Beautiful road, too many cyclists tough. That road reminds me of those in the mountains of Gran Canaria, amazing. You should try them in a future trip RJ. Cheers.
It's a popular training ground mate. Cyclists usually often train climbs because it's the best way to get cardiovascular fitness. Feels like hell though.
It's a bit of a conundrum. Undertaking is really risky, but a good cyclist is actually faster than most vehicles on descents, really depends on how brave you are. On one hand lycra is definitely not abrasion proof, but the descents suck you in real hard. Often you exceed 60-70 kph with light pedaling, if you're willing to push you can do more.
I know it's several years too late, but the conditions probably didn't change and so I ask. Is there a specific time of the day that the traific flows in only one way? It doesn't seem from the video that many vehicles are coming from the other way. Oh and when is there less traffic on Stelvio? August perhaps? Great video btw, nice to see you outside of town RJ.
Both actually - during the summer there are plenty of such events, every time I visited a pass in the alps or dolomites there was plenty of them cyclists racing any day.
The road is for everyone. Car drivers can be annoyed by endless amounts of motorcycles there too, trust me it's no easy task to drive there between all those two wheelers.
I am a cyclist, but these guys act like they own the road!
***** yeah, sure, of course..mah
its so dangerous you want to overtake them and they reev out into you without looking and they mad about you. In summer you cant ride this road cuz of the cyclists
down there it feels like you are doing 100mph on a cycle, so you don't think you are slowing the motorbikes down all that much.
They are always in the way! I carry eggs with me for the ones who scream and throw their hands in the air!
Typical
Absolutely fantastic, thanks for the wonderful memory! :) Like you say the cyclists weren't that bad actually. At least thanks to them most of the way down was blocked for oncoming traffic. Definitely a nice and rare bonus :)
thankyou, this need pinning, so many over reactions here
It wouldn't be too much of a chore to spend the whole day just going up and down those mountain roads with that exhaust popping away across the slopes, crags and cliffs of that amazing scenery.
its my most favorite road and it brakes my heart to see you driving with all theese cyclists

Simply stunningly beautiful scenery I'm in awe
Went here on a roadtrip last year , this year im returning to do the stelvio pass in a 2009 bmw z4 straight 6 :) i would love to hear that sound in the tunnels !
Wow! Just wow! Got excited at 1:26 - thought it was a CB500X, but double checked and looks more like an NC700 :)
Breathtaking for sure!!

This is seriously high on my bucket list! The wooded area was especially nice.
Those cyclists were frustrating the hell out of me. Its so crazy how they just ignore everyone passing through. I saw images of myself hitting them off their bikes like that game road rash lol
+ZcriptureZ What are you some 500 Ib loser that doesn't like some exercise once in a while.
+Purpose Hey hey I'm at a happy 510 lbs thank you very much ;). Seriously though most cyclists like to pretend they own the entire road especially when they ride in groups. Those kind of cyclists are frustrating for everyone on the road
they rly need a own cyclist road its rly dangerous how they drive
Cycling is quiet and much more environmentally friendly than motorbikes. Cyclists have as much right to be on the road as motorists and they can take in more than noisy bikers. I am both a biker and a cyclist and for one I would prefer to do the pass on my bicycle.
Oh my God! Schaff! :D That guy rocks! It's a pleasure see him in one of your video RJ
Stunning video mate. Loved the scenery and loved the way you negotiated the cyclists with safety and courtesy (even though a few of them I'd have been tempted to slap on the way past) Loved it.
See i dont understand those cyclists "they are going downhill and they are out of breath lol "

I just rode on this pass this past weekend, it was incredible! Such an impressive experience!
Great to see the two best TH-camrs ride together :)
This is almost as good as RidingWithTom 's road trip to the mcdonalds drive through, but he had his bike in slick mode, so it was just a bit better. :P Nice video RJ, beautiful scenery and bike :D
what an absolutely stunning spaghetti of roads... have to go there one day :(
Beautiful views RJ. Seemed very narrow on way down. Maybe it was the lack of safety rails or walls.
Favorited !!!
1. S1000rr & RJ
2. Slow and low that is the tempo
3. Incredible Mtn Views !!!
4. 8:30 +Schaaf
5. 16:30 traffic jam ???
6. Always good stuff !!!
Looks amazing :) would love to ride something like this one day.
Looks like a grand trip. The last time I was in the Alps and looking at the scenery I was overtaken by a cyclist doing 100 kph!!
WOW! 200 year old road and still a beauty. At least they didn't have far to carry the stone to build all those embankments. A 6700 foot stair with 135 foot steps
Your exhaust sounds just too good RJ (drooling)
RoyalJordanian "RJ where have you been?" and this are such good videos. Can't wait to check the other Euro trip ones
I will be doing this on a 50cc scooter this summer!
Man the road and the view was extremely impressive!!
WOW!!!! What a view. RJ you think a motorhome can go there with no problems?
Buses do :)
Nice stretch of road that! Good riding fella!
RoyalJordanian
Is it okay if the engine backfire's this much, like yours? Considering it's still kinda new?
It's made to backfire, whenever you let off the throttle, it squirts a tiny bit of gas in there. It's something that BMW decided to do.
The last time I done the Stelvio, because of some delays, I didn't start climbing the pass until 6pm, it was fantastic; the sun was just going down, there was just me and a few cyclists, a few bikers and I got top the top just in time for a Bratwurst. What amazing road. But, why are there so few cars?
OK, I kid. That looks amazing!!!
wow beautiful ,thanks for sharing
I love those crackle's and pop's, and I've heard that if you tune the bike with the new exhaust, they go away. Does that mean they're bad for the bike?
I enjoyed every second of it! :-)
RoyalJordanian Yo RJ! There's one thing is bugging me in the video: What's that always on light on your dash ? (ie 16:18 )
Low Fuel light
RoyalJordanian How much do you manage to keep riding since it first goes on ?
+Kid574 1 hour
dogfight I gm jgk hgkg1
once i've seen his nose through the visor it was impossible for me to unsee it
Damn a lot of people lack tolerance. The cyclists rarely held up RJ, the cars did more harm (even to the cyclists) but you're not complaining about them. But very nice riding RJ
This looks like a track from Gran Turismo. Awesome place.
Bellissimi paesaggi abbiamo noi in Italia ;)
6 in 5* video, excellent! the view, the driving, the sound...
Have you been here - yet? WOW!
love the sound of RJ's bike and Shaaf lol you can hear his in the background :D
quite busy! was it a weekend? i was in Switzerland this week and the whole country was empty.. you could ride several passes with out seeing a single car or cyclist!! :D
isnt it summer in europe? i would have thought ther wouldnt be so much snow... or is it just that high up?
Just wondering, but is that the road used for the final scenes of the original Italian Job?
That intro is amazing.
That exhausts dam!!!!
What is that control light on your instrument that went red during the ride? Overheated brakes?
+David Marek Low fuel
thank you!
A fabulous vid with great scenery, I see the cops had a bike pulled over near the end:( looking forward to more.RSM8
so, next summer will you go in romania to ride on the transfagarasan road?
Beautiful road, too many cyclists tough.
That road reminds me of those in the mountains of Gran Canaria, amazing. You should try them in a future trip RJ.
Cheers.
It's a popular training ground mate.
Cyclists usually often train climbs because it's the best way to get cardiovascular fitness.
Feels like hell though.
I want buy a bike, but I can not decide between Honda CB650F and Yamaha XJ-6. what do you suggest, RJ?
Awesome Road to bad you couldn't really had some some fun.
Great view! What was the temperature up there?
Very nice Vid RJ, but why did you cut out the gravel bit? Ride safe my friend...
and then there's the horror of 80km/h speed limit..come on switzerland...
Schaaf and RJ on the same video? 😀
What the hell is the cyclist from 16:32 thinking about? :S
It's a bit of a conundrum.
Undertaking is really risky, but a good cyclist is actually faster than most vehicles on descents, really depends on how brave you are.
On one hand lycra is definitely not abrasion proof, but the descents suck you in real hard.

Ah, the old feud between cyclists and bikers for the Stelvio!
When you brake coming down this mountain road, are you using your back brake too or just your front brake? Thanks.
A bit of both, back to stabilise, front for stopping power.
so you went across europe with schaff? is he going to post some videos?
breathtaking !
Cracking video!
Just a little thing I've noticed: did you change the speedo to kph?
RJ, which model of sat nag is that please?
It sure does nag at you (long live auto correct :) ), it's a Garmin Zumo 390.
What is it like on fuel? Sorry if question has already been asked.
According to the computer, it averaged 39MPG on the trip
Okay thanks
did u go all the way to Estonia ?
i would have turned round and gone back up, just so i could do it again...amazing...
amazing video
is that number of cycles normal or was there an event?
oh and it looked amazing!
alightvlogging www.dreilaendergiro.at/de/home.html actually was this event
Both actually - during the summer there are plenty of such events, every time I visited a pass in the alps or dolomites there was plenty of them cyclists racing any day.
dont like those cyclists... blocking the whole road
The road is for everyone. Car drivers can be annoyed by endless amounts of motorcycles there too, trust me it's no easy task to drive there between all those two wheelers.
did you do that this weekend? is there still snow? :/
been there last year and havent seen any haha
The Grand old Duke of Nuda, he had ten thousand revs. He revved them up to the top of the hill, and he revved them down again....
Hi
I expect this has been asked before but can you tell me the time of year and also are there fuel stops up there? Great vids. Derek
That was mid June this year. No fuel stops on the passes, so plan your fuel accordingly.
Good choice to take Schaaf behind you... :)
Nice video, which country is this?
beautifull road ^^
Where is this?
I wish I can have cool bikes like you RJ :(
