    I bought a 2005 Tahoe with the 5.3 V8 from a family. The guy took very good care of it and did not slack on the maintenance. It was absolutely beautiful when my wife and I pulled into look it over. I Fell in love instantly but I saw the odometer and it had 219,000 miles. I was like great just my luck, this is going to turn into a piece of crap. After driving it and looking it all over I bought it on the spot. It now has 260,000 miles and has plenty of power and zero issues. I bought a 2002 z28 that I towed home over 2 hours running over 70 mph. I use High mileage Mobil 1 and Lucas high mileage stabilizer along with a wix oil filter. I also use the Lucas fuel injector cleaner on every other time I get gas. This combination I use has made this run even quieter than it already was and smoother. I had a mechanic friend of mine drive it and tried to have him guess the miles, because it was show room clean he thought about 40,000 miles. He was shocked as hell it has over 250,000 miles. This combination works guys. Never too late to use it.

      Do you live in a cold environment?

      I like the way you think sir. I have a 99 with a 5.3 I've owned since about 147k. I've always ran Mobil 1 5w-30 and a Mobil 1 filter. I recently switched to a wix filter because of a bit more capacity and filter media to filter the oil. The 206A Mobil 1 filters are getting tough to find and are pricey around 15$. I have been wondering about the Lucas high mileage additive. Last winter here in Illinois, my truck would have the lifter pump up issue when temps were really cold. 0 without wind-chill! Was wondering if you have experienced cold startups like this with your truck and if the Lucas seemed to help any?

    I am pretty sure 75k miles was considered high in the 80s and 90s but today’s standard 100k is the line. Funny how out of touch the oil companies are.

      And sometimes flakes of rust!
      Fram Ultra Synthetic are excellent oil filters, though.

    Fram oil filter and dirty oil to lube the gasket...what could go wrong?

    Interesting, I've used Lucas a lot , in engines and transmissions, I highly recommend it. I like the way you choke up on the ratchet handle to avoid over tightening the oil plug. I just drove my Honda Accord over my very old steel ramps for the first time, heart sank. I just knew I ruined the car. Did not hurt it though, thankfully, just cost me extra time jacking it up a little to remove each ramp. The plus side is the reports I've seen since of jack stands and ramps collapsing have caused me to switch over to progressively stacking 2 or 3 2 X 12's instead......a lot safer!

    Have you tried using Engine Restore? I think you should have done an oil flush first. I'm not sure what makes an oil a high mileage oil.

      All motor oils have seal conditioners for rubber components but high mileage oils have a much higher dose of the seal conditioner or probably a different additive that softens/rejuvenates rubber seals. After time, rubber components such as rubber gaskets and rubber seals shrink and loose their elasticity from the heat which "may" cause oil leaks. That's the only difference, the regular motor oil is most likely the same, just with less the seal conditioner. Hoped this helps. Some people don't use high mileage oils and they have more than normally categorized as high mileage, which is 75,000 miles, and their cars do not leak. Go figure.

      High mileage oil is basically a ripoff cause it just has more corn. So in my opinion it’s not worth it.

    according to this guy i probably don't have to consider using this product since i don't have these symptoms, but i do live in Minnesota where in the winter time the dry start can be pretty tough on engines would that then be sufficient reason to use this product? let me know what you think?

    I ran my engine hot; burned oil, and while driving left hood unlatched and ran heater to cool engine. Came home, mixed super tech with stp high mileage stabilizer. It doesn’t rough idle no more

    Nice video. Do you normally use Fram oil filters? I have seen some cut- open and they don't look good at all (except for the synthetic one)

    • @TheRichardF10
      @TheRichardF10 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fram extra guards (Orange filters) are adequate performing filters. You get what you pay for so only get this filter if you drive less than 5,000 miles on an oil change interval.

    You broke the drain plug free with a ratchet and socket. You then removed the socket from the plug, swung your hand back and replaced the socket on the plug. It was a ratchet. A ratchet.

    Do you subtract the amount of oil, for the amount of Lucas. Or is it the proper call out for oil plus Lucas oil?

      If you need 5 quarts normally, you put 1 quart Lucas and 4 quarts regualr motor oil. 20% Lucas is recommended
