100,000 Mile Tune-Up
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 13 ก.พ. 2016
100,000 miles is a crucial period in the life of your car. Do the required tune-ups and maintenance procedures and your car will probably make it to 150,000 miles, maybe 200K, without needing costly repairs.
Double Flaring Tool Lisle 33260
I'm reviewing the new double flaring tool by Lisle, part number 33250. I prefer the Lisle tool over the Harbor Freight one, because the design is fool proof. The screw-in dies are unbreakable and the depth gauge bolt assures correct flaring length every time.
But then, the Lisle tool is one of many on the market that have the vice style flaring mechanism and the low profile design. I chose the Lisle, despite the higher cost, because it flares both 3/16" and 1/4" tubing. For DIYers I would recommend any low-profile, vice style double flare tool on the market, not just the Lisle brand. They're all great.

Replace Your Own Brake Hoses
มุมมอง 37K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm replacing all four brake hoses on a 2002 Saturn SC2. After eighteen years of service the rubber was aged and cracking a little bit, and needed to be replaced. I purchased some aftermarket hoses from Amazon and they're working fine; $16.99 each for AutoPart International (API) hoses in the back; $9.69 for one front Sunsong hose; $8.08 for the other Sunsong. RockAuto has the back hoses on clo...
Full Brake Line Replacement
มุมมอง 3673 ปีที่แล้ว
We're tearing out the old, rusting brake lines from a 2002 Saturn SC2, and we're replacing them with new NICOP brakes lines. Nickel-Copper is easy to work with and is probably the best choice for DIYers, for that reason. No splits and you can bend much of it by hand. My best choice for flaring tools is the Lisle double flaring tool, #33260, used in this video. Good luck on your project!
Replacing an Idle Air Control Valve (IAC)
มุมมอง 40K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I changed the idle air control (IAC) valve on a 2004 Suzuki Forenza. When an IAC valve goes bad it will trigger a trouble code and your “check engine” light will go on. You’ll experience engine stalling and/or fluctuating idle speed. Test the resistance on your IAC with a multi-meter, before replacing it. All it may need is a good cleaning to start working properly again. Good luck on your proj...
DIY Engine Bay Cleaning
มุมมอง 1.9K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm using a can of O'Reilly's engine cleaner on a Pontiac Vibe and I'm going to be cleaning the engine bay. The mechanics on TH-cam are split on this subject, with those who do do it for customers and those who don't. Engine cleaning is mostly only for show a little dirt and grime on your engine isn't going to hurt anything. Still, it's good to have a nice, clean engine bay when you're working ...

Paint Your Brake Calipers
มุมมอง 1.3K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Painting your calipers is a good way to keep the rust down, but man is it a lot of work. To do it right you have to remove the calipers and prep all the surfaces before spray painting: Clean off the dirt and grime with soap and water, scrub away the old grease and rust with a wire brush and brake cleaner, and then you can begin masking off the bore, the bolt holes, and any rubber parts. I used ...
Manual Trans Shift Cable Replacement
มุมมอง 88K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The shift cable bushing is a weak point for all S-series Saturns, 1993-2001, and needs to be replaced either with a new bushing or a set of new cables. A Dorman bushing cost $25 at Advance Auto, whereas a whole new set of cables from ATP (P/N Y-1511) cost $54.78 at Amazon. If you have the original cables from the factory still on your Saturn, check their condition and, preferably, replace them....
Suzuki Starter Replacement
มุมมอง 47K5 ปีที่แล้ว
I replaced the starter on a 2004 Suzuki Forenza. 2004-2008 are the same in regard to this part and its location. Replacing the starter on a Suzuki Forenza is a tough job that can save you between $430 to $668 in labor costs, if you have the necessary tools and skills. *Feel around all you want for the top mounting bolt, you won't find it on the starter. The bolt screws into the starter, from th...
Exhaust Resonator Installation
มุมมอง 16K5 ปีที่แล้ว
I installed a resonator assembly on a 2002 Saturn SC2. It was a Walker resonator, part number 56017, attached to a Walker catalytic converter in front and a Walker muffler in back. No welding or pipe expanding was necessary; the pipes are "direct fit": flared at the factory. Between the Cat. and the resonator you need a three bolt gasket, part number 31553. For the muffler connection you need a...
Direct Fit Catalytic Converter Installation
มุมมอง 21K5 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I installed a catalytic converter into a 2002 Saturn SC2. The flange of the old Cat was rusted out and leaking exhaust, or else I would have kept old Cat. In its place I installed a Walker Ultra, Direct Fit catalytic converter, part number 15842. A gasket was required, part number 31553. These parts are specific to the make and model of the vehicle under repair. The Walker Cat fit...
Walker Direct Fit Muffler Installation
มุมมอง 6K5 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I installed a muffler on a 2002 Saturn SC2. Installing the muffler didn't require any power tools other than a reciprocating saw to cut out the old muffler. A 1 3/4" clamp was used to connect the muffler to the resonator assembly (part number 56017); no welding or pipe expanding necessary. The muffler itself was held into place with a Walker bracket strap (part number 36376). All ...
Lisle Pipe Expander Kit
มุมมอง 22K5 ปีที่แล้ว
I tried out my new Lisle Pipe Expander Kit, part number 17350. The tool did a good job. Using a $38 Harbor Freight impact gun, I expanded the down pipe on a Saturn SC2 in about a minute or two. It was loud and I could see that it was placing a lot of stress on the tool, but everything turned out well. The flare was perfect and the tool was in good shape after flaring a couple pipes. No stripped...

Cutting Open FRAM Ultra Synthetic Oil Filter
The best thing to do is change your oil every 5k miles with full synthetic oil. I have a 2008 Toyota Highlander with almost 300,000 miles and the engine sounds and drives like new.
Thank you I never knew
Great info! Thank you!
What should be the ratio for fresh oil and diesel?
Diesel gasoline?
Do you need to use any kind of sealant on exhaust slip on joints that are clamped in place?
This gentleman KNOWS how to do an A-1 job to R & R coolant & completely flush the Saturn engine. Just repeatedly check the coolant level "several times" after doing this operation & check engine temperature gauge, just to validate everything is norm. My hat goes off, if I had one, this fellow does a complete quality job! 👍
Was told by old fella years ago, never ever flush any motor gear box or hydraulic system with diesel, it will clean and flush , but it will destroy your seals if not completely removed.
My window switch makes noise up/down but the window won't go up or down and if I let it go it slides down. Could it be a lose screw?
Two Dorra Eighty Five....oh a sweet and simpler time that was. And shur we hadn't a clue what we were in for....
Appreciate the attention to detail!
This is an oil change video. It does not have any before and after coverage pertaining to the Lucas...
I'm no mechanic but 1 thing for sure - it's impossible to fully drain a modern engine, there are nooks and crannies that always hold. See any disassembly video - stuff on the floor, maybe a few cups. That diesel is going to be in your oil for many, many oil changes ahead.
I prefere ProTec Engine Flush and Rewitec Powershot S/M/L. The Last cleans the Piston Rings, redo the whole friction surfaces (metalceramic revitalisation) and let the Engine run smoother, while the rough VW JX Engine of the VW T3 1.6 TD bacame a completely new/different much smoother Engine. The Peugeot 2.0 V16 XU Engine, Base Engine of the German STW Cup Car (Peugeot 406 German STW) Runs Like a Turbine then.
I would suggest premixing 25% diesel and 75% oil first before adding to engine.
Will this method work for gasoline low cc bikes liked 110cc
Bombarded with Cackle Harris ads. Yuck, getting sick.
Does this vehicle accept 10W-30? If not, coupled with that extremely thick Lucas could be a problem in cold weather. It's been said to be a straight 40 'weight' synthetic, but honestly it looks to be much thicker, despite being thinner than their original stabilizer. It's excellent stuff, minus the fact it completely lacks detergents or anti wear agents. It will inevitably dilute the balanced additive 'package' in your motor oil. Sometimes it outweighs those cons.
For petrol engine i think engine flush chemical is best .but for diesel engine its better to add old engine oil form petrol vehicle. Do it for three to four times and then add engine flush chemical..very good result
i did flush my ford ka with diesel, and performnce improved...thank u.
Diesel gasoline?
diesel gasoline????what do you mean ?diesel or gasoline?
What the hell is diesel gasoline?
Toxic
My 2007 225,XXX miles and still runs like new😊
People used to use coal oil to desludge engines. FYI: you can substitute lamp oil for kerosene. You can even use diesel fuel too. Some people use ATF to flush with. No more than 25% by volume for the mix. Might be a good idea to let it sit overnight in severe sludge issues. If you have a lot of sludge, then you aren't changing your oil and filter often enough. Or you need a proper tuneup/repair. I see the author is using one of the WORST oil filters you can get. Get a NAPA or WIX filter or better.
Thanks. I have been using 50 50 diesel + oil as flush for years. So I get half diesel mixed with new oil to make it good flush then once flushed drain and refill with synthetic.
Will this method work for gasoline bikes 110cc
Can i do it on my chrysler 200 2016?
When cleaning the bar groove never go towards the nose of the bar always go away from the nose if you go towards the nose of the bar all your doing is putting dirt and saw dust in the nose sprocket
What about if you replaced the plug, but it's the plug coming out of the blower motor?
where to buy the tool to take out the liquid?
Ok..Something to consider..Depending on mileage or terrible missed/ misused servicing..Any engine with excessive Sludge/Carbon byproducts are questionable when attempting to Flush Materials..Safest way out of all methods is ATF..One quart added/ Run at idle to 2000 rpm for 1 hour/ No driving/Vehicle parked/ Fire Extinquisher Safety/ Drain and Oil Change Filter Service...Sludge/ Carbon removal may have been holding seals and rings and bearings together..Be ready for Big Repairs if something happens...Used vehicles with no records are the worst.....
Hello great video it was really helpful can I do that with my transmission and my son drove the truck with really low on transmission fluid and I asked him for how long he said about 2 weeks is what he claims but when I got it back it would not even register on the dipstick now it slips just a little bit not a lot but sometimes it does would it be helpful for me to drain all of the transmission fluid out of the transmission can I clean the transmission just like you did with the motor and then put the fluid back in and you think that might fix a little bit of my slippage problem I'm just asking I don't know I'm single so I don't know I just need a man's advice
Thanks a lot for this guide it is exactly what I needed to fix my window, and now they work perfectly, so rain water isn’t leaking through and climate control isn’t leaking out 👍👍👍
Thank for the video!!! This info is more relevant now, than ever!!!!! (…to me 😏)
Να καθαρίσεις ένα βενζινοκίνητο από τι? Σε ντίζελ μόνο το κάνουμε αυτό η σε μηχανές που δεν συντηρούνται όπως πρέπει.
I bought my Vibe new in 2007. It now has 98,000 miles and still runs like new. I drain my transmission pan every year. Every other year I drop the pan and remove the screen filter and clean it with brake cleaner. It is so easy to do the transmission drain and replacement procedure. I am sure the 4-speed automatic transmission will last the life of the car. It is too bad so many manufactures are going to CVT transmissions. I want nothing to do with one of those weenie transmissions. I guess if you like your driving experience mundane, then a CVT transmission is right up your ally. Long live the transmission that shifts.
What's the estimated time it takes to do this?
I have been able to disconnect the bad one, but I can't remove it from the stand. How do I go about it?
Ok for iron engines, idle 30 seconds, drain, add new oil and filter.Aussies been doin it for years.
Drain out all the old oil and refill with circa 4 litres of diesel. Remove the plugs and spin the engine over on the starter several times and drain out. Refill with approx 2.5 litres of new oil with a new filter. Run the engine to temperature, drain and refill with another new filter. Job done. My 1.4 16valve Fiesta has done 145k miles and ive done this at 40k, 80k & 120k miles. The engine runs like new, the oil stays yellow between services ( every 3k miles) and uses absolutely no oil. Bore scoping still shows the factory cross hatching..
Diesel will work well. But guess, what modern engine oils are designed for? 😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing. PS, has anyone told you that you should be a narrator. You have got the perfect voice for it.
What is the name of the wrench you used with the open mouth? Is special tools the that kind of job?
Play it safe, spend a few dollars , buy seafoam , it's made for a crankcase and the gas tank ....
My god there is no such thing as diesel gasoline
How do you put chain on
Gracias🎉
I have a 14 ford edge that i chsnged oil every 3000 miles now at 199,000 developed low oil pressure I used to auto medic flushs and still no results i did see it had diesel abd kerosene in it...it cant be the oil pump gotta be a blocked port or something i only have 9 psi at idle but as soon as a tap the gas it goes away
If you need Lucas, you can probably move up in oil viscosity
