    I have a 96 Buick Park Avenue.
Several years ago I was having transmission problems. At the time the car had 220,000 miles on it.
I had someone change the transmission fluid and filter, also added a quart of Lucas Transmission fix.
Today I drive it 60 miles round trip every day to work. It now has 341,000 miles on the transmission.
    $150 was the cost.

In 2015 I bought a 2008 Corolla, and it had a lot of transmission slippage causing bad shuddering when I accelerated hard from a stop. I added 2/3 a container of that exact same stuff to my transmission (after draining some transmission fluid out), and the problem mostly went away right away, and a month later the transmission was performing perfectly, just like a new car. So yeah, that stuff sometimes works wonders, other times it has no effect.

Using **( Prolong ) Súper lubricants. Dump in the drops every once a month for about 2 to three months. If the transmission has a little slip or hesitation in shifting from 2nd to third. It will improve dramaticaly with stronger crisper quicker timing between shift points. You will notice the difference as the trans will also shift a lot smoother without any effort.

I’ve used Lucas Transmission Fix in my 1998 Subaru Impreza. Here’s the low down. The first time I ever did it I didn’t remove any fluid and it definitely seemed to help but it wasn’t a magic cure. Things did get a little smoother though. I feel like because of Lucas viscosity it’s better for slipping than rough shifts. But I’ve now learned I can pump out fluid from the dipstick hole and refill my transmission with new fluid and Lucas. I highly recommend this method even on higher mileage cars. It’s seemed to help a lot.

had a ford aod in a crown vic. it was this transmission's predecessor. i'll admit i was young and stupid, too rough on that car... lost overdrive in it one day. dropped the pan, changed the fluid and filter and no luck. done this exactly but without the pump or a drain plug. put some lucas in it and 4th came back. it was working just as it should again. i didn't push it, learned to drop her in drive if i was gonna do something silly and to maybe not act silly so often lol. drove her about 6 months or so and sold it to a buddy. he knew what i went through with it prior and the fix used, it wasn't like that. it worked for several years after he got it. it's a great product imo. i don't know that i would dump it in a modern transmission unless it was a do or die thing. modern fluid, synthetic if you can get it and the friction adders in them with the level of programed control on them, automatics are not bad. honestly i always took what i could get cheap, preferably cheap and broken down...i preferred a stick or 3 speed auto older design over an o/d unit because it was one less thing to worry about on high mileage neglected vehicles. now 20 years later, i don't care either way.

Scotty, you did again with great car advice. "I'd never buy a new car, they cost too much money." I have been saying this to my friends for the longest time. You drive a brand new car off the lot and it looses a lot of it's value immediately and it's now a second hand car. So what is a new car really?? Cars are made to be driven hundreds of thousands of miles and besides, older models can't go out of fashion because they are late already, but if you chase new cars, with new designs, they change every year and that's a sure way to keep you in debt. If you ask me, newer cars are made to rip you off, as everything is made cheap these days, so why not buy something older where you know exactly what to expect and you'll save money!

Scotty, i was wondering if you was going to get a truck would you still recommend a Toyota and Honda and which one will last the longest?

    • @richsweeney1115

I did this with my 2013 Cadillac XTS because the transmission was slipping badly into second or third gear with a bam! Took out a quart of transmission fluid put in that Lucas fluid and it worked. No slipping no banging smooth as silk now. Now if only the rest of the car were not a piece of crap. Shocks and struts went out and now all the bearings are failing for the second time.

I bought a new Crown Vic in '96 and the transmission had a mind of it's own... it would down shift and accelerate without warning, and it would pop out of gear and then slam into gear all on it's own. Ford gave me a episode recorder, and even with all of that data they still never figured out the problem. I traded it in on a new Acura, and ended up in Toyota vehicles after that.

My wife and I were driving her 04 Lexus RX330 on I-10 in Kerrville, TX last week not far outside of San Antonio. Her transmission finally had enough and left us stranded. 225K on the clock. Those model years from 04-06 were notoriously weak transmissions. We had the car shipped back home and are going to put in a remanufactured one soon.

The utilization of the additive has resulted in the restoration of the functionality of my Ford Galaxy, enabling me to drive it for an additional 5,000 miles. While I acknowledge that this solution is not permanent, it provides a temporary reprieve until the transmission can be professionally rebuilt.
