Deep Blue Alpha Marine 500: Still Embarrassing Seiko

  • Here's my take on Deep Blue's incredibly cool and new Alpha Marine 500 dive watch. Building on the long term popularity and success of the Master 1000 watch, the Alpha pushes the coolness envelope even further. Bold markings, fully lumed faces (wow, take a look), ceramic bezels, sapphire crystals, great hands, and 500 meter water resistance. The Alpha Marine 500 is powered by a Japanese handmade Miyota 9015 Movement, 28,800 VPH 24 jewels, 42 hour power reserve, and an applied Parashock system inside.
    When I reviewed this watch, every single color looked good to me..you just can't go wrong. Interchange the excellent Deep Blue straps or your own for more color possibilities. The SS rice beads, engineer, oyster, and jubilee bracelets are discussed. I encouraged and got DB to offer these in silicone straps to save you money...see inside.
    Again we see Deep Blue in their style, sizing, hands execution, case treatments, and value frequently embarrass Seiko. They just do. And when purchased smartly the value also dominates many of the Seiko divers as well. Yep, they're some of my fave watches, great job Deep Blue.
    Note: these watches were purchased or borrowed for this review, not given to me by Deep Blue

    The Deep Blue Alpha Marine dive watch review! These are high style fully lumed pieces that will make you happy...they do me! I'll smack talk at Seiko a little bit, show one of theirs I like, and will remind you again how great the M1K is too. Then we get to biz and I'll make my case on the AM500. Buy at Deep Blue: tinyurl.com/yahzkm8u. Thanks for the support too at: www.patreon.com/Nutnfancy

    I bought a 44mm Deep Blue in a flat green after watching your older video on it. Sapphire up front and the display caseback, also keeps a +5sec or under accuracy. What an amazing buy with SO many options. Keep up the great work!

    Update: bought this watch a year or so ago, today it died from a drop waist height onto a hard floor. Band got caucht on a backpack strap and it disassembled itself. Called deep blue, no answer, sent an email, no answer yet. I'll never buy another one.
    Love the review! I just bought an aqua marine 500 with white and red face and a white band to be another option to my tag heuer calibre 8. I almost bought 2 watches! I'm not into diving watches, but the am500 is gorgeous

    Nice watches gonna have to look into these. Data Point on a Casio 3157 SGW-100B Purchased in 2006 time frame from Wally World on clearance. I think less than $20 bucks. I was very cheap, uh, High Value then.The battery died. sigh.. Those sorry cheap Casio watches! LOL. Replace the battery or get a new one? Decisions Decisions. One thing I learned about some GA-100 G-Shock colors, have the charcoal gray with blue/teal markings. They tend to be a more Outdoor daylight vs. Indoor use. When out and about during the day perfect, but go inside. Tired eyes really have to focus to see it. No worries. Great Vid!

    Got an outstanding looking DB T100 Diver as a gift from my son a while back. I immediately began using it as my daily wearer. I was so pleased with the fit and finish and, especially, with the extra bright tritium all over the dial! Over all, I was thrilled with the watch and was eager to buy several more! A friend saw mine and also wanted several!
    Over a very short period of time I noticed the tritium quickly dimming more and more. It wasn't gradual but a rapid dimming. I was very disappointed but certain they would fix it and take care of the matter in a efficient and timely manner. Just goes to show how wrong you can be!
    Deep Blue took no ownership over the issue and told me they would not be resolving the tritium issue. They added that I could, for hundreds dollars, send it in and they would replace the tritium at my expense. They also added that if I did choose to send it to them, the turn around time would be quite long with no return date estimate available. This was completely unacceptable to me and just awful Customer Service.
    So because their watch was a gift from my son, I kept it instead of tossing it in the river due to their poor service! Instead of wearing it and buying several more, mine just sits in a box. Too bad, I really liked that watch and DB.
    These things happen! Maybe just a bad batch of tritium? All they had to do was stand by their product and replace the tritium or replace the watch? Deep Blue couldn't do that so I have replaced them with Citizen and Seiko.

    • @d7dun1010
      @d7dun1010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sir. If you understand or not was not the point. Deep Blue showed me no customer service whatsoever and didn't stand behind their product to MY, the customer, satisfaction. Therefore I choose not to endorse them positively nor will I be doing future business with them. As I may have mentioned, I really liked the watch line and was interested in buying additional units. That is no longer true. My prerogative and my money. Why does that seem to irritate a year since my posting? Never mind, a rhetorical question and I don't care.

    • @d7dun1010
      @d7dun1010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sir, I made my case in writing to them and they denied my claim and then had the nerve to send an outrageously high estimate to replace the lume. I was trying to be reasonable and just wanted them to stand behind their product and their CS claims and make it right? Not personal, just business

    You’re going to get me collecting these deep blue diver’s watches 😍. I wear the Luminox F117 black out edition. Matte black bezel and case, sapphire crystal face. Full numeric numbers which are a little shiny but black. Made a paracord cobra weave band for it in black also. It’s got a very black ops look to it. This watch is a tank, virtually indestructible. I recently bought a stealth non-metallic lightweight version of a Deep Blue diver. Love the tritium tubes but do NOT like the reflectivity of the flat sapphire. I don't think my version comes with an AR coating and all I see when I look at the face is whatever light source is behind me.
    I've tried researching if an AR coating can be applied but that seems like a dead end.

    I just received my Master 1000 ii and it's VERY well built. Where can you get a 300M ISO rated dive watch with a helium valve, sapphire crystal, exhibition back, 120 click ceramic bezel for this price? Also, the NH35 movement is tried and true and is bullet proof, you can regulate them to be very accurate. Remember, it's an automatic watch, not a quartz movement. Even the movement in the Omega Seamaster 300 professional dive watch, caliber 8800, is */- 5 seconds a day - very similar to a regulated NH35 movement (even some out of the box are that accurate). That watch will cost you around $4,000!!! The lume is decent and can clearly read it just fine in the dark after 8 hours. The 120 click bezel is accurate and tight. Right now you can get the Master 1000 ii 45MM for $99. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I got 2 of them and expected them to be fairly cheaply built when I opened them. I couldn't believe how beautiful made they are and it has a very good quality silicone strap.

    Hey Nutn..... Nice work on the review of the DB but this is not the 1st gen. There were 2 before this one you have.... or is should say 2 types of the 1st gen. One Swiss made with a ETA 2824 and one with a Miota 9015. Both of these are close to the on you have in this review but the one difference is the rehaut. the 1st gen the dial face is flat not angled where yours has an angled chapter ring. Also the ones with an ETA movement have a skeleton case back. Keep up the good work but just wanted to let you know that they have been around for a while and yours isn't a 1st gen. Take care!

    Or you can buy an automatic Vostok Amphibian for less than $100, mod it with the thousands of online options, and end up with a dive watch that embarasses Deep Blue. The movement is Vostok's own design, not a 2nd party Japanese movement. The First Moscow Watch Company (Vostok parent) was founded in 1942 and only made equipment for the demanding Russian military. The Sturmanskie was worn by Yuri Gagarin when he made the first manned space flight. They began to produce watches for the public in the 1960's. Deep Blue was founded in 2007 and stole its name from IBM's Super Computer, not much heritage or originality there. A watch enthusiast will ask you about your Vostok. Nobody is going to ask you about your Deep Blue unless it's, "Why are you wearing that?"

      If you consider $160 and $250 watches a "$5 watch", you don't work hard for a living and you didn't build that business you inherited from your grandad.
