    The fact you can get an automatic in house movement, with 200M water resistance, sapphire crystal, signed screw down crown, and bracelet for around $200 is unbeatable. They’re the best budget option. It’s not even close.

      I’ve been wearing my Kamasu for two years and while I’m not a huge fan of the bezel action, I am at a solid +8 seconds per day. If I decided I needed a new watch, I’d probably buy another Kamasu in a different color.

      @@dscryptprodbysounknox1296 I’m not sure the Seiko 5 movement is hacking. If it is, I’d call it even. If Seiko is non hacking, Orient for the win.

    • @TheMonsterHunterTV
      @TheMonsterHunterTV ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@dscryptprodbysounknox1296 Would say they are even. Seikos best watch options are above 400$ The new Seiko Alpinist for example is unbeatable at it's pricepoint. It has saphire, 70 hours power reserve, great accuracy, 20 bar water resistance great finishing and a rich history. The Seiko Samurai and the Turtle might be the best dive watches for under 500. I would buy a Sumo over them because it is even better and worth the money you need to pay more.
      So over 400$ Seiko is the absolute King.
      In the low-price-segment nothing beats Orient at the moment. When you are someone who does not like to pay a big amount of money for some watches you can built up a good collection with Orient, Seiko 5 and Casio.

    Teddy, you're a gentleman and a scholar. This video comes as a mild shock, Orient rarely gets such decent recognition for being the gorgeous watches that they are. The designs are less cluttered than many Swiss luxury equivalents, it's about aesthetics and clarity, not dollars, the designers know what they are really doing at Orient. I've seen uglier Patek's LOL.

      Great point Paul! My daily wear is currently at AP in Clearwater for a full service. The watch on my wrist as I write this is one of my three Orient watches (an all black, steel sport model similar in look to a Submariner. It's gorgeous!). I believe I paid under $300 for it a few years ago. When friends come to me with questions about getting into the quality automatic watch game, I always tell them that if all they're looking for is a high quality watch they can spend several thousand on a solid Swiss watch, or several hundred on an Orient. My concern with Orient is that, when my watches are due for their regular service, it will be difficult to justify spending the same, or more, for service than it will be to just buy a new one. I've already decided I'll probably buy a new one, but still hold on to the old one as I believe there very well may be a market for vintage Orient watches in the future because as they grow in popularity and the supply of older models diminishes, they just may increase in value. Sorry about the long comment folks, it's just nice to see Orient get some well earned, and deserved praise.

    I just got my Orient Maestro(In a beautiful blue) yesterday. I initially wanted a Seiko, especially since it is a more prestigious brand, but the Orient was obviously much better at the price. I'm just a kid and this being my first watch I bought with my own money is really something. I can tell I'm going to cherish this beautiful timepiece for years to come.

    Great video. This is my favorite watch brand for quality and price range. The Tristar I have had since college, 25 years. Had it serviced twice. Last service was 3 years ago. Checked it recently +2 secs, amplitude at 275 - 280. Beat error 0.0 is incredible. Same results from $10,000 watches. You don't have to worry about an expensive watch attracting attention from the wrong people. Nice watch to wear out for dinner or at a sporting event. I store it in a watch case and put it on a watch winder when I want to wear it the next day.

    My re-introduction into mechanical watches was an Orient Defender II with the green dial. The cheap bracelet made an alternate Orient nato strap an immediate purchase. Gains about +15 seconds a day, but is in transit from Orient as I write for a warranty repair of a crown that came apart. I am at a point in my life where endulging in mechanical watches is not a potential hobby, but a desire to connect with a timepiece that is functional. I have about six quartz pieces, but tend to wear one watch for most occasions. I am working my way up the watch food chain and am impressed by Christopher Ward. Not much of a Rolex fan, but hope to end up with a Tudor or Omega before my I check out. Keep up the great work Teddy!

    I own 3 seiko and 2 orient (mechanical) watches. Orient has definitely more features for lower price, such as sapphire glass (on my 170€ dress watch) and screw crown (on my 160€ “diver”), but seiko is a bit better in the overall feel, fit and quality. Both brands are great!

    Thanks Teddy, great fan of yours. And, yes, got my first automatic watch, Orient Bambino Roman Numerals champagne dial. Beautiful. Cheers 🥂

    My first mechanical watch is an Orient Mako II. Bought it from Drop (back when it was still called Massdrop). I mainly wear it using a NATO strap and I get more compliments with it compared to my other watches.

    Excellent as always! Don't forget the WV0041TX Panda Neo 70s Chronograph though.

    I've modded the hell out of my Ray II and I absolutely love it. I've got way pricier ones but I still wear the old faithful very often

    My first Watch was an Orient automatic blue dial. It was a gift from my older brother in 1976. It was bought in Paraguay. I was then a 14 years old boy. Now I am 60 years old and I have several watches including an Orient Poseidon, a diver Watch. I like Orient.

    Excellent video! I own 3 Orient watches and definitely feel they are at the top of the "Best Bang for your Buck" list. My first impression of the Sun and Moon dial was negative...the longer I look at it, the more I want one!!

    I've been wearing the Orient Kamasu with the red dial for a couple of years now and I love it. The case is 42mm but wears smaller, I think that is due to the sloping bezel. Accuracy is about minus two seconds a day, which is insane for a €200 watch. 200 meters water resistant and sapphire glass, neat!
    I put it on a Hirsch Pure Caoutchouc strap which is as comfortable as it is indestructable. The red dial is beautiful in every light and it is the friendliest of reds I've seen. If I'll buy another strap for it, it will be a Staib milanese mesh, the fact that that particular strap costs more than the watch itself is holding me back however......for now.
    Great value for money.

    Orients are great watches, not the smoothest to wind, there is a "groinchy" feel to them but you never get any issues.

    • @michaelniemer4449
      @michaelniemer4449 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you may have coined a new term, “groinchy” explains both the sound and the feel.

    Hello teddy, thank you for the introductions of the orient variants.
    I think you should also bring up the m-force and orient star. Especially the orient star, they have a classic styling of watches with affordable price.
