- This dive watch is one of the best made in the world. Here you'll see why I much prefer the Deep Blue Master 1000 series over most Seiko dive watches. I will stand against what is probably a tide of opinion on this but I've always done that and it's true. Here you'll see the DBM 1000 in action with TNP in over two years of adventure.
With the price paid, the quality, features, and personality of the DBM 1000 dominate all comers. Sapphire, reliable auto movement, perfect bezel execution, perfect straps, perfect lume, durability, water resistance, perfect case backs, perfect hands, perfectly sized. All at an amazingly low price. The Gen IIs add in a see thru caseback and a ceramic bezel.
No this review was not purchased by Deep Blue, unlike a lot of the other TP watch "reviews" you've seen. It's just an honest feature length WRV that will make the case why this is my fave dive watch yet!

Glad to hear a view that has a fresh perspective. The Deep Blue is extraordinary! Sapphire Crystal, 1000 ft WR, and the Abalone Seashell Mother of Pearl... wow! What a wonderful new addition to the watch world! A world beater!
I just bought a Deep Blue Master 1000 checkerboard 40mm (I am a watch gal) and I LOVE it {Silicone Strap) I love the Ceramic bezel and how luminous it is. GREAT BUY!

I’m fine with my SKX009. It may be played out but it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a watch designed by a 12 year old.

mUN MUn color does count. Bright colors not for the sake of clarity under low light conditions but for being bold to me, and apparently others, comes off as being juvenile or immature.

White Hummus Agreed Nutn is so far off in his comments (and out of date) on the Seikos it’s not even funny. It’s weird because his guns and gear reviews are so spot on and reasonable.

Why? What makes it better?? Asking your opinion not to be rude. But i have both and every single spec is better about the deep blue plus the bracelets rock plus i love the bigger size. I see nothing the seiko beats it at. Now granted seiko makes great designs but keep raising prices for a basic watch with mineral crystal and aluminum and no ceramic bezel… and both have seiko inside… so to me the deep blues rock. But i like both.

You have never steered me wrong with many many purchases in the 10 plus years I've been watching you. In this case I'm glad I bought my 007 before this review... I love my Seiko 007.

Deep Blue uses Seiko movements.
I stumbled onto two used Deep Blues, Daylight Diver 300m and Daylight MIL 500m, on craigslist and have zero regrets. They are quality and bombproof. Best divers in my collection.
For years, every time you upload ANY video it puts a smile on my face! I see you have the same "Assault" scissors in your toolbox that I have. BTW, you and your wife did a great job raising your son.
I prefer the stock seiko.. many years sailboat racing with them..

Seiko SKX007 WAS the gold standard (when you could get them for $200). Now they've been discontinued and are running over $300. The crown O-ring wore out on my SKX and it flooded. I think I'll try a Deep Blue next.

I just received my Master 1000 Gen 2 with a green abalone (aba-lone- ee) dial. I loved it so much, I ordered the blue and purple watches with abalone dials. In effect, I ordered an abalone sandwich. All three are on the rubber/resin straps. For extra fun, I ordered different coloured OEM straps for them. The price for each watch was great at 149 each, down from 299. I already have a Deep Blue Juggernaut 5 (in purple) that I truly enjoy as well.
Hate those hands I'll stick with my seiko turtle. Bet I know why you waited so long to release the video, haggling over your remuneration for this obvious paid promotion

I will say I love the colors that deep blue offers its nice it break away from the plain black/blue every now and then

I would agree they’re a nice time piece. Wouldn’t even mind adding one or more to my collection. But....but....I’d not let go of my SKX009 for love or money. I wouldn’t conclude the SKX is junk just because it isn’t tarted up like a gaudy Invicta.

I was looking at these a week before the review came out. Ordered a 44mm master gen 2 on bracelet after the watch gods sent me a sign via Nutnfancy. Very impressed. Wish they made it a little smaller like 43mm x 14mm thick. Great watch and value. Especially with a coupon code which i was able to find. Dg40 for 40% off as of a week ago.

The Seiko 007 was a great watch in their day, when they were $199. Rugged, classic looks, 200m. But with no hacking, sketchy accuracy and used prices touching $400, their day has passed.
I bought one of these with a steel bracelet a couple of years ago on sale for about $160. It's been great so far and gets lots of compliments.
SKX007 and 009 aren’t in production anymore. That line also has yellow and orange watch faces. They are all actually Dive rated, most others like the one you reviewed are not. Most reviewers currently rag on the Seikos for the bad bezel alignment, the Hardlex crystal and janky bracelet. The Seikos are solid and because Seiko created the movements and made the market, everyone else can jump in.
Anyone else watching this after getting the Kanagawa master1000?

Thanks nutnfancy.. I've been really pondering on an affordable yet performing diver watch lately. Seiko SKX009 seemed the obvious choice, but there was something about it that didn't sit right with me (and you confirmed it). Now I am waiting on a great Deep Blue Master 1000 with Sunray Yellow dial :)
SKX is now discontinued. You could have got one under 200 at one time. Now going for 300-400. A 100% roi.
Love all the content! Just wish you would review a Hamilton like the Khaki King or the Khaki field mechanical. Reliable, tough, and never need a battery change.
Personal opinion, nothing about that watch is objectively better than an SKX. Many people love the Seikos, you don’t, not really that revolutionary. Your hand mods are plain ugly, again personal opinion.
What's embarrassing is that DB uses Seiko movements. Not to mention that Seiko produced the first quartz watch back in 1975. I give them a nod for those reasons alone. Half of the microbrands out there use Seiko movements. I don't think that Seiko is "embarrassed".
RowdyRon micro brands seem to be nothing more than “factory” seiko mods.

Seiko already did do that. It was called the SKX A35, but it ran its course and has now been discontinued for a few years. I also really like the SKX 011 - orange dial with black bezel. Very cool!
They have pretty shitty Lume, let’s be honest. Compared to seiko and your charging the shit out them, with Seiko you don’t have to grab a BL

Watch culture is so toxic...What a salty comment section. The watches make him happy. More variety and they work. Dunno why that makes people so mad.
I gottan disagree. The SKX is way less clunky and more elegant. This is definately a cool vibe for a tool watch, but I'd stick with a seiko any day of the week. More subdued and fits better on the wrist.
I got both and the Seiko SKX feels cheap compared to the Deep Blue, only the case is comparable in quality. Seikos lower profile might make it a better desk diver but its no where near Deep Blue quality.
I was drawn to Deep Blue, because Tritium!
I have four now, 3 with Tritium, and my favorite, the Master 1000 Gen 1, white face with Pepsi Bezel.
I may sell a couple of the tritium ones, just to get a yellow Master 1000.

These watches are way too big! 99.9% of people including you will never dive with it! Just stick your arm in the water for a video opportunity. A 40 is the sweet spot for an everyday watch, you could get away with a 42 if you have over 7" wrist but a 44 and over is a clown watch! There is a reason that Seiko has been around for so long. They are timeless with a lineage that can be traced back for generations. That is why they put the Seiko movement in these watches. Seiko is first cool all the way! Just my opinion.
You should review the SnaggletoothMF, its a knife mod that works just like the zip-tie mod video you posted. It opens your knife when you pull it out of your pocket.

If anybody what’s an SKX style watch with this kind of color variation, Deep Blue makes the Military Diver 300. It’s essentially an SKX in cooler colors with a better movement and 100m more water resistance, plus it’s still an ISO certified dive watch.
Someone must be on a percentage : ) I watched a video of Jordan Belfort interviewing Grant Cardone the other day. There was an ad break and Belfort starting singing the praises of vincero watches - they're in the $200 range, but he was comparing the quality against Rolex's, Patek Philippe and the like. By the time Belfort finished lavishing praise and superlatives, I was almost convinced Vincero's were far superior to Pateks lol.
Funny you said that. I watched the same video last month and was almost convinced, then I researched them, theyre NOT anything special, watch Teddy Baldassarre’s video on them, Jordan can sell anything.

Was given a Deep Blue T100 by my son as a gift. Each day I liked the watch more and more! I started looking at Deep Blue for other watches that I would buy for myself. Over a relatively short period of time, I began to notice a rather rapid dimming of the excellent tritium. It went fast! From super bright to what it is now, barely visible. Awhile back I emailed DB and asked about this as I know tritium has a long life. I was most disappointed in their reply. I was told they could redo the tritium and it would be nearly $300 and would take quite a long time to do. Where was their customer service and why wasn't this something they should have looked into and taken care of under warranty? Beautiful watch with failing tritium. I still wear the watch as it was given to me by my son, but...
PS: They should have apologized to me and taken the watch back and replaced their poor grade tritium for free!

PHOIBOS is pretty good, solid and inexpensive watches 100-500 usd. They have variety of colors, one of my favorite is miami aqua and orange.

Embarrassing Seiko? They are still using the Seiko NH35 movement...
ETA: Deep Blue basically got their start by copying the Seiko SKX. Also Seiko has a lot more dive watch designs than the SKX. And the original Rolex Submariner was basically ripped off from the Blancpain 50 Fathoms. In reality, it is nearly impossible to call any good, timeless watch design original. Each one is almost always a near copy of what came before, but with slight improvements.

Keep in mind the SKX is ISO rated where the DB is not. I do agree that that they are not as great a value as they once were, but the SKX is still one of the cheapest mechanical ISO divers. DB is a fashion watch in comparison to an SKX. 1000 feet with that case? Unlikely!

I have the yellow Master 1000. The lume is trash. Deep Shit refuses to honor its warranty. I was prepared to purchase several of their watches if I was satisfied with my fist purchase. I'll stick with Long Island Watch for my micro brand watches, thank you. Marc has more integrity in the tip if his pinky than those imbecils at Deep Shit will ever come close to having. You can praise them to your heart's content, Nut'n. They're not going to diss you on such a large platform as TNP. I just spread the word to those in my sphere of influence. Sweet Dora 9. I have a huge collection of diecast 1/48 warbirds. Just remembered I actually have that Dora 9 in 1/32. I should do a vid on them, they are pretty rare.
All this can be done with the sieko with a not expensive mod, so much variety it will blow your mind.

MODDING Suggestion: Instead of taping hands, try using model brushes and real model paint. These are detail work brushes and you get great results without hiding the all-important *LUME*

I mean if your getting in to Seiko its more or less the horological history of the company and the movement is great, they are nice. At least thats what it is for me, I like them. But I am here for the Deep Blue because they do seem like a heavy hitter. Thanks for the review.

Missing the point..DP maybe better on paper, but many more choose the Seiko as the overall design speaks to them much more ..Seiko makes iconic and original design where DP blatantly copies many Seiko's and makes them big/bulky/unbalanced . ..it's not about sapphire this, hacking that....does it sing to you?

Just something to be mindful of;
I have owned my master 1000 USA version for 8 months and found that if I take it off while sleeping in 55 degrees or below it loses a few minutes over a weeks time.
Get it regulated.
Don't buy garbage, buy deep blue. I have had one on my wrist for 6 months and have many other watches to wear. 24 hrs a day.
The SKX is very outdated but 42mm is NOT small and the Master 1000 also looks almost exactly like the Submariner lol

I like my Seiko but it’s more of a dive style watch with only a 100meter rating. Love my full fledge mud master though.
I see they don't make for some time big one the master 3000. I don't need one . I am not a saturation diver but I like the looks. Great video.

Sorry Nutn, but for anyone that's not you sized, these watches are just too big. The compact lug to lug is one of the things that makes the SKX so great. You can get away with a slightly larger watch, because the lug to lug is so compact. 51mm lug to lug, and 15mm tall is just gonna look silly on most people.
I will say, the aesthetics of some of the designs are pretty fun, but this is going to be a pass for me.
