    honestly I love that you have locs with different features from most. Your relaxed ends make me think of reeeeallly fly micros that are modernized. I used to love micros. These are nice, I like how different your journey looks from everyone else...you're so unique

      I started mine without the grid because my hair is fine. It looks so natural and less scalpy than the first set I did with a grid

      So, I have neen on my journey for 14 months and my relaxed ends are now starting to swell up into my locks. Is that normal? What can I do to stop it without smapping my thin hair? Any help would be highly appreciated.

    I love the esthetic of your locs. They look awesome. My locs are a combo of techniques. Because my hair texture is soft and fine in areas, I chose to go the microlocs for fullness. Some locs were palm rolled and some were interlocked. I'm 13 months in on this journey. As my locs swell and shrink, I'm combining the ones that are too tiny. This is my third journey and hopefully last. I'm enjoying them so far and as much as my first set which I had for 5 years and were larger. My second lasted for two years but they had problems lol.

    This is a really unique journey. I think I see your vision as I too have thought of loose ends. I can't wait to see how it turns out. I have tiny braidlocs which I started a few months ago and by look of things my pattern isn't going away anytime soon. If I like how your ends turn out, I might follow suit and undo the braided part.

    When I started my first set of starter locs, I used Jojoba oil to keep moisture in my hair but I get buildup extremely easily so I washed way more often than is okay in this weather rn (cold). I ended up making my own rosewater spray though because my scalp is not staying moisturized like it was when I was a loose natural due to the parting spaces and my hair not being used to them. I am actually in the process of installing my microlocs atm, so far the very front left section from my middle part to above my ear is finished 😂. I dont even know what day of installation I'm on, I'm just pushing forward so I can be done with loose natural hair.

    I’m trying super hard not to experience loc envy over you! Haha hair envy is actually one of the many reasons I’m opting for locs... so I can stop trying to be like / look like others and just BE! Along with low maintenance! This is interesting because I am relaxed and so my first thoughts were to research and see if my relaxed ends would work, now I’ve stumbled across your videos and it has me seriously thinking! This look so far reminds me of the micro braids worn a few years back that I always wanted but my never could get for multiple reasons. It’s nice to see someone change the game up & just do their own thing! It lets me know that there’s room to experiment and that’s totally okay!! Get weird results, wanted results, atypical results, it’s all about enjoying the process!!

    I haven’t used any oils for this set of locs. I haven’t had any itching issues. I think oils cause your scalp to itch. Also I know the sisterlocks regime doesn’t call for oils. So I figured if those locs didn’t need them. Neither do traditional locs. So far so good. It’s also helped my hair to loc faster. Imma add. My hair still feels real soft even tho I haven’t used any oils and I use a clarifying shampoo. I’m curious to see how your hair progresses with the relaxed ends. I like the look.

    Hey 👋🏿
    Very interesting about the jojoba oil making your scalp itch, I wouldn’t have thought it would cause that but that’s made me think.
    I had relaxed ends on my first set of sisterlocks and I had no intention of chopping them off, I just used to do braid outs but in my case it looked bad and stringy.
    My relaxed ends (on the front of my hair) started to effect the locking process for the regrowth underneath and I had plenty of bunching on those locs in particular.
    This time round my install was on all natural hair and it’s a totally different experience and in my case the locs are much prettier and more uniform.
    I think your locs look gorgeous and you actually take care of your relaxed ends which I didn’t 🙈

    SN My scalp didn't like jojoba oil either or most oils for that matter.

    So I LOVE the way your hair has looked on every single one of your journeys. I do think this one however is my favorite thus far. But can you please explain how you will maintain the two textures. I remember my struggle with my line of demarcation between my loose natural hair and my relaxed hair. So I am just really curious on what your regimen will be in order to maintain both extremely different textures?? Like will you continue to relax the ends? What will happen should the relaxed hair start to break if you do not relax it? I have so many questions.But I really think your hair looks amazing right now either way!!🤗

    • @Bindi_Marc
      @Bindi_Marc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CAN'T KEEP QUIET KESHA thank you! If you wouldn’t mind, go ahead and list out all the questions you have. I’m asking this bc I’m only beginning to understand that people have real questions about managing the two textures but really nothing has changed for me. Ask away! And I’ll do my best to explain clearly.🙂

    • @keeshaskorner5011
      @keeshaskorner5011 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Lol... well I guess that was the gist like I really want to see your regimen. How you will maintain the different textures. Will you continue to relax the ends.So you will only be interlocking the top part? Did you do a specific number of rotations on each loc in order to keep them somewhat uniformed and consistent as far as loc to relaxed ratio? And I just feel like you may really be on to something and are literally creating a whole "new type/style" of loc the fact that you are INTENTIONALLY only locing part of the strand as opposed to the whole loc "hope that makes sense" I know people have obviously loc'd relaxed hair before but I am not aware of anyone who ever on purpose left part of the hair relaxed for aesthetics or more versatility. I just LOVE it, and think it is so pretty not to mention different!!

    • @Bindi_Marc
      @Bindi_Marc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@keeshaskorner5011
      1. How you will maintain the different textures?
      The only "special" maintance required for two hair types is that I apply shampoo only to my locs, and I apply shampoo, conditioner, and heat protectant to my relaxed ends. Its a relitively easy maintenance routine which will be demonstrated in my next video featuring my wash + blow drying routine. It may make more sense when you can see the process.
      2. Will you continue to relax the ends?
      In keeping with standard relaxer pactices, being that the ends are already relaxed, I will not be re-applying relaxer. That would be considered 'double processing' which almost ensures long term breakage.
      3.Will you only be interlocking the top part?
      Just as with standard interlocking practices, I will only be interlocking new growth and slippage at the roots of my locs.
      4. Did you do a specific number of rotations on each loc in order to keep them somewhat uniformed and consistent as far as loc to relaxed ratio?
      Actually the length of my starter locs are two strand twisted and braided where the natural and relaxed hair meet. The two strand twisting alone has been enough to provide consistency.
      I hope this helps clear up some of the questions you had!

    • @keeshaskorner5011
      @keeshaskorner5011 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Bindi_Marc Yes indeed it did, thank you! And I clearly did not think that reapplying relaxer question through before asking...I ABSOLUTELY know that would cause overprocessing 🤭 out the "relaxer circle" too long! But again, thank you and can't wait to tune into the next video!!🤗

    Random question- I haven’t been able to get a good understanding on. What is the difference between 3 and 4 point rotation... as in long term look and feel of the loc? How do you choice which to use? And what difference would it make in the locs is you switch patterns? These questions have me hesitant to start the journey for my little one who wants locs.

    • @nicoleperry-hall7312
      @nicoleperry-hall7312 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The four point rotation will make a tighter loc than the three point. When we did the first set of my locs we did a four point and my locs looked so very tiny but when I did the second set we went for a three point rotation. Mind you the texture of my hair is really soft and curly/wavy. I must say that the four point rotation in my opinion does give less of a frizzy look in the long run. I was trying to insert a picture to show you the difference but it is not working.

    I haven’t found anything to get rid of my itchy, dry scalp. My scalp dries out like the next day if I don’t use oil on my scalp 😩 the mixture of jojoba, avocado, ylang ylang, tea tree and peppermint seems to hold off the itchiness for a few days but that’s it 😔
    But have the larger size microlocs. I started with two strand twists and started maintaining with interlocking but decided to give palm rolling a try since mine are big enough to do either or. Watching your channel for guidance cuz my little sister wants sisterlocks but can’t afford it at this moment. I love hearing other DIY journeys. Idk what it is about starting locs and that “itching” but I do notice that that new locs go through that including mine. I even bought that No Itch spray. The itching lasted about 2-3 months then it just went away. It never came back. I was wondering if it’s just the scalp trying to get use to hair being locked up or something. I love your hair like everyone else by the way.

      Kieonna S congratulations on starting your loc journey! I don’t know that there are any hard and fast rules about where “small locs” end, and “microlocs” begin. If I had to give an opinion I’d say it’s based on appearance. I’d now consider my first set of locs “small locs” and this set “microlocs.” It’s really your own judgment call.

      So those in the Sisterlocks community will tell you that if it looks like Sisterlocks (but isn't lol!!) then it's microlocks. I think anything smaller than traditional locks (i.e., smaller than the thickness of a regular pencil) but not done according to the specifications of Sisterlocks (grid pattern, licensed sisterlocks consultant, number of locks) would be considered microlocks. I have 237 locks, done using interlocking from root to tip, and I consider myself to have microlocks. My daughter has between 560-600 locks or more, but in a different grid than the Sisterlocks grid pattern, so I consider her too to have microlocks. However, you can't tell the difference between her and someone with trademark Sisterlocks by just looking.

      I tend to space it out over the course of 3 days. If im taking my time, I space it out over a week.
