Girllllll!!! I didn't use products for the first 4.5 years just about. I started using oils a little here and there once I noticed my hair needing some TLC. But now that my locs are mature I do use conditioner every now and then, usually in the winter...I do PR Charles winter regimen to prevent and combat the horrendous dryness. Cuando regresé de Peru a mi isla y mi cabello estaba muy seco...entonces....I conditioned them!!! I have come to realize you have to do what works for your hair. My locs are mature about 6 years now, so every wash I oil and when needed I condition. I am actually going to try dr.locs ....and see...
    Thanks for the update

I think that if you cleanse and rinse very well you can avoid build up. I am very intentional about how I do my hair and my loctitian can feel how light my hair is, when it is drier than normal...etc. I can feel the dryness as well, and with dryness come breakage for me so I make a real effort to combat it ...with out build up or damage. Tengo mucho mas que puedo decirte pero ahora voy a estudiar. Pienso que tu no vas a dañar tu cabello. Bendiciones y feliz semana.

I don't understand why professionals think relaxed hair can't loc. If Caucasian hair can loc, then so can relaxed.

Your locs are just beautiful. This is how I originally wanted my hair to look but I didn’t think it was possible. I love my locs now but seeing your hair still makes me very happy. I’m curious if others would also have locs pretty similar to this!

Damien Walter is the reason I have used conditioner from the beginning of my loc journey. The key is to thoroughly rinse. I haven't had any build up and I am 2.5 years loc'd.

I think conditioner and hot oil treatments have been great in maintaining moisture on my locs. They matured very quickly, my loctician cannot believe that I am only 11 months in, because they look so mature and are very healthy, and I have been using conditioner from day one.

Yanni the locologist explains very well why it is best not to over oil the scalp and how to moisterize the hair and scalp without causing buildup. So basically build up on your scalp causes your hair to meet resistance when growing and will slow down, or hinder, hair growth, because of the blockage to the hair follicale. She recommends rose water mixed with vitamin e oil in a spray bottle for light moisterizing every 2 to 3 days. Like a 50/50 mix or a 75 rose water/25 vit e mixture. Than for the times when you really need to moisterize the scalp (say winter or swimming), go in with castor oil. So that might be something to consider. God bless you and your beautiful hair!

Btw your hair is beautiful! I've had my microlocs installed 3 weeks ago on texlaxed hair. I didn't blow dry before installation and so had a lot of my curl pattern and thickness. I'm trusting the process and you are inspiring - thanks so much 🔥

I don't think there is a question as to whether relaxed hair can loc. The relaxed portion will take on a different shape in diameter like heat damaged hair when it locs.

Phyllis Johnson who is the videolocktician has a process called "dry conditioning." She developed it for her clients who have Sisterlocks. Her videos show how to lightly condition Sisterlocks or Microlocks and her products are great.

  • @hallease

Also, I feel like, all hair can lock. If you aren't combing your hair EVENTUALLY it'll lock up. Kinkier/coilier hair does it faster because of its texture but everybody will get there.

  • @hallease

What about using just a super light leave-in? Even just diluting a leave-in I think would be fine. I use diluted Alikay Naturals and I haven't ha any issues to my knowledge but once a year I do an EPIC clean with Dawn soap so...

Before Vitamin E, she suggested 60/40 rose water glycerine. Which is what I’ve been using for years. I love it and never feel like i miss conditioner. Not sure how this would work on your relaxed ends tho 🤔

    • @sunandgrapes

@@Eden519 I've been following yannie recently and have seen her recommend the rose water and vitamin e many times. So you are saying she has previously recommended 60 percent rose water and 40 percent glycerin in the past? Did she give a reason for why she stopped using that and went to vitamin e?

    • @Bindi_Marc
