Since 2012, we bought 3 different toyota car (2010) Innova, (2017) Fortuner, and (2023) Raize. All this 3 cars we never brought to any mechanic for any repair, aside from regular Preventative Maintenance. Toyota is very reliable. That is why we never change brand 😊

Former car dealer & shop owner. Certain models I would like to deter you from purchasing. These are some of the vehicles I would not sell. 1, Transmission Issues: Chevy Cruz, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge/Chrysler Minivans, Dodge Dart, Nissan Rogue, Sentra (If you don't abuse them, it's OK). 2, Mini Cooper (Issues A to Z).
Define 'abuse them' I have an idea but wouldn't mind a little clarification. I buy everything I own used and never pay more than $3,500 at a time, then use it for 4 or 5 years, and resell them again but always do general maintenance regularly. That does include replacing struts and so forth when needed. Between me and 2 friends of mine who also work on vehicles we have our own lists of vehicles that we will never buy. I wish I could name them right now but I have a migraine messing with my memory recall.
I have Dodge caliber after 50000 miles the engine or transmission sounds funny ! Every time I gave my friend a ride turn on the engine they jump and ask me what is that .bring to a mechanic and they try to charge me 16 thousand dollars to fix it , including labor and that car always over heat and stop me in the middle of the road .
Correct on every car! All shitbox cars that are nasty, badly engineered and a manufacturer that laughed at you when you bought one and then expected warranty support!
My 2007 Dodge Caravan has 305,000Km on her as we speak. Runs like a top, and I do my own repairs and inspections on her. My new Toyota Corolla Cross just sits beside her wanting to be driven, but I rather drive my Caravan. Proudly made in St. Louis Mo. Cant drive two at the same time. Call me old fashioned. Burns about 1/2 a liter/ 3,000Km/ oil change time. Tranny is perfect, and original. I suck out about 2 liters every 8,000 km and she runs as good as new. Sadly this will probably be the last vehicle that I will own and be RELIABLE. Parts are cheap now too ( she is old as you know). Happy Motoring folks in Canada.
To be fair, I am an automobile technician and business owner. Yes, I am self employed and understand that a newer car isn't necessarily a better one. In fact, it's the newer vehicles that keep me busy. I personally own 6 vehicles. The longest running ones are: a 2004 GMC Yukon XL SLT, 5.3L/4L60E/2WD with 274,900 as of today. I also own a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban LT, 8.1L/4L80E/4WD with 224,700 miles on the clock. BOTH vehicles sport completely original powertrains and show no apparent signs of deterioration. The 8.1L truck does use a little oil (about 1qt every 6K if driven on secondary roads exclusively, 2 quarts if significant highway driving is thrown into the mix.), but that's par for the course as I have observed over the years in both mine and customers trucks. Lastly, I own a 2001 Acura CL Type S with 323, 000 miles on the original engine, but second transmission to date. I wouldn't trade any of them for the newer offerings, though. They don't seem to be engineered to last beyond 5-7 years without a major failure. It's a shame, really.
I had a 2005 Colorado. Things were starting to go bad ,needed new break systems .I traded it in on a fully loaded 2020 Escape and I love it . Except for the recalls of course lol I'd never owned a fully loaded vehicle Better not to know what you're missing .It has the smaller engine but it's surprisingly peppy and useful for its size .My driver side door is in the process of being replaced. My advice is buy a vehicle from the nearest dealership lol
Yep! They're only as good as the warranty that comes with it. Past that point on its a hit or miss mix of problems as they age and get worn. And also depends on what type of material they use to make them.
I bought 2004 Volkswagen Touareg V8 5 years ago from guy who admit he didn't change oil for 45 000 miles. So far i just did brakes , pulling 6500 lbs camper every summer in mountains.
I had a 2005 Ford Ranger that I drove for over 275,000 miles. The engine was still strong when I sold it to a young kid who is currently fixing the rust damage on the truck
I have a 2008 nissan rouge. Replace the transmission once. It has 111.000 miles on it. No problems since the replacement. I change the CVT fluid every other year. No problems since then
Back in the 90s, I used to listen to the brothers "Click and Clack. Great advice on vehicles. They laughed at people buying Jeeps. I pretty much have stayed away from Jeep.
Most of the time you would be correct. Somehow, I bought a brand-new Camry in 2009 expecting to keep it for 20+years, it turned out to be the biggest POS I've owned since the 80's when everything was junk. Lucky me, I guess.
Toyotas do not like me, I've owned several, all but one gave me headaches. I've owned Hondas, Mazdas, Subarus, Nissans. Wife and I both drive Hondas currently
I have a 97 Lincoln town car and have no problems other than gas mileage, only about 28mpg on the highway. Only paid $2,800 for it and it's going strong with NO problems!
I had a 96 Continental and dumped several thousand dollars into it just to keep it running for 3 years. Was never as happy as I was when I sold that POS. But before I delivered it to the guy the next day, the water pump shit The bed. Screw that stupid car…
@jasonbecker4997 That's rare, the 4.6 litre is damned near indestructible. I worked in a limousine shop and had engine swaps at 350,000 to almost 450,000 miles. Those drive trains are bulletproof when maintained at regular intervals. Perhaps the vehicle was neglected eh?
@ it was the 3.8. And it definitely wasn’t rare, at the time at least. The internet was full of people saying what piles of garbage they were. I bought it used so I can’t exactly vouch for its maintenance, but things like head gaskets, water pumps, and suspension sensors aren’t really maintainable things. The transmission crapping itself maybe, but again a very common problem on the internet.
Same here! They blow through so much money, especially in depreciation. The only new car I ever bought was not my most reliable car. Many older cars outdid it by far!
You're a wise person. Unfortunately clever marketing appeals to people's wants and then their actual needs get put on the backburner. They just have to have the $70000 Ford pickup that's got trouble with a capital T in its history because they need to look cool in front of their mates instead of the $2000 Corolla with proven reliability history and is all they really need to get to work and home everyday, will probably last them another 5 years with minimal trouble and when it does is something relatively minor and inexpensive to get parts for and repair.
I bought a 2023 GMC Yukon 6.2L. Only 15 months old on its 3rd engine. Requested buy back only to get run around. Final had enough trade in for a different brand. Lost over 12k in 9 months on trade in.
My boyfriend owned a 2005 Mustang til '18. Someone rear-ended him one day and he could no longer pack my Rolater-a walker with a seat-in his trunk, much less my Zoomer-an electric wheelchair. He bought a Nissan Rouge Select (not sure of the year here). Fortunately, he's had few problems.

I put deposit down. Stalled. Instinctively "white pages" search of where it was coming from. DIDN'T EXIST. Ran the VIN. SOLD MONTHS EARLIER. I waited to see how they played this. Of course they called and said, "couldn't get it but we have this upgraded model, with an extra 3k miles, we'll give you for the same price". Uh, no. Then the harassment from them... then the "deposit is NOT refundable". Dealer #2- great deal.... til the ink dried and the money was paid. Then every promise was met with "no... no and .... no". This is the one that had the oil leak. They fixed it, but instead of giving new parts on the under carriage, I got "we wiped it off real good!". Wiped the burnt oil off "real good". 50 MILES. To find out if your engine is good open up the hood and listen for any engine noise. A good engine runs very quite. If someone tells you that engine runs noisey don't believe them..
GM is also not using quality parts, in its other systems either. If you A/C looses it charge, it is probably do to a leaking evaporator. This requires complete disassembly of the dash to replace, with the final repair cost being around $2,000.00. And of course, they replace it the the same poor quality part.

not a fan of any four cylinder engine and think turbo chargers are just asking for problems, and a 3 cylinder just is not what I want in a 4x4 vehicle. I like a good solid v6 with a long history of being trouble free.
For 4WD/4x4 vehicles turbos and 4 cylinder or even 6 cylinder engines don't make sense, and one reason I don't understand why manufacturers are dumping their V8's for 4 and 6 cylinder turbo engines. Most V8's were bullet proof (although some, from Ford and Chevy, had issues). But like the Toyota Tundra V8 was discontinued, and replaced with a turbo 6 cylinder which I don't understand. Same for the Tacoma (although I think you can still order a V6, but the standard now seems to be a turbo 4 cylinder).
LOVE my 6 cylinder, but unfortunately any vehicles that aren't behemoths do not have them anymore. I have looked EVERYWHERE. Can't find one. Thought the Mazda CX-70 was gonna be the answer but it's as big and expensive as the CX-90. Mid-size my A$$.
The two flaws in this analysis, and the misperception of most customers is that: - (A) - a premium-line brand is going to be 'more reliable'; (B) - an SUV is going to be 'more rugged and durable'... MANY manufacturers use the exact same drivetrain in their upscale vehicles as in the lower-priced brands. Toyota and Lexus are a prime example, where on many models the same engine and powertrain in the Toyota models is exactly the same as in their Lexus models... If anything they are more loaded with electronics and options that are more likely to fail over time... SUV's also use the same engines and drivetrains as their non-SUV models, with the addition of AWD capability. They won't be 'more rugged'. If anything, with the extra weight and higher wind resistance, there's going to be more load, and thus faster wear on their engines and drivetrains, in addition to worse fuel economy that's a given...
We bought our 1992 Toyota Landcruiser & drove it for 15 yrs until we had to buy a truck with bigger engine that can pull a 22’ boat. Our Landcruiser was perfect even friends comment that it looked new & was surprised to hear that it was 15 yrs old.
Hybrids, in theory, are a better idea than a full EV for many people. But unless they are well thought out and engineered, can be a problem. We bought a 392 Jeep Wrangler in 2022, and we absolutely love it, overall reliability has been great, and the performance is off the charts. Just don't expect great fuel economy.
Hard to believe that GMC and Chevrolet are still having issues with the variable valve timing and deactivation . It has been an issue since about 2012 or so. Most manufactures fix things over time?

I am over new vehicles. We purchased a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder last year with 11 miles on it. We had to drive cross country due to a new assignment less than 2 months later. We left NC and got 15 miles out of Knoxville, TN and it started shaking on the highway. We had intended on stopping in Memphis but the truck decided otherwise. We found the local Nissan dealership and found out that fuel pump was bad! I was in shock. How can a brand new vehicle have a busted fuel pump on it. Thank God it was still under warranty. I have always wanted new vehicles, but that definitely changed my mind. Do these car makers not have a quality assurance department? How can a car leave the factory with crazy issues? It's ludicrous!
I bought the 2020 Pacifica hybrid new. 0 issues. Almost 100k miles. After getting 8k off MSRP because they were desperate to sell, and all the tax credits I basically only paid 30k for a 50k vehicle. So far very happy

FYI, the Bronco Sport is NOT a Bronco! It is a unibody CUV never intended for off roading. It's essentially a Ford Escape.
New Bronco is a body on frame construction - Not unibody like the Escape.
@@DannyDavisPhotographerhe's talking about the Bronco Sport (lil one), not the Bronco. Actually if you look at the body lines of the Sport version it is way similar to the more rugged/ boxy 2nd gen escape from 2008-2012.

Give me a list of vehicles that can be abused and not give issues? I'll wait.........

Except for the recalls of course lol
I'd never owned a fully loaded vehicle
Better not to know what you're missing .It has the smaller engine but it's surprisingly peppy and useful for its size .My driver side door is in the process of being replaced.
My advice is buy a vehicle from the nearest dealership lol
My son has a Chevrolet Suburban with 274,000 miles and still runs good. Never had a breakdown.
Yep! They're only as good as the warranty that comes with it. Past that point on its a hit or miss mix of problems as they age and get worn. And also depends on what type of material they use to make them.

@jasonbecker4997 That's rare, the 4.6 litre is damned near indestructible. I worked in a limousine shop and had engine swaps at 350,000 to almost 450,000 miles. Those drive trains are bulletproof when maintained at regular intervals. Perhaps the vehicle was neglected eh?

not a fan of any four cylinder engine and think turbo chargers are just asking for problems, and a 3 cylinder just is not what I want in a 4x4 vehicle.

Yeah they all get the same milage as my 1000$ chrysler town and country van. What a 40k $ joke they All are.

Two minor repairs last 2 year.
Great workman ship.
2018 Sierra and 2016 grande Cherokee , bought both new and no problems at all !
I have a 2012 Mitsubishi RVR and no rust and still running perfectly.. no problems
Hard to believe that GMC and Chevrolet are still having issues with the variable valve timing and deactivation . It has been an issue since about 2012 or so. Most manufactures fix things over time?
Great video. I am a new fan of your channel and I love your vibe. Also, I can't tell the difference between the two Bottega bags, the kislux is close and cute, so that's enough for me. I will bring my friends to buy.
You’re exactly right thanks for helping and helping the American people pick vehicles that were perform for them and give them the value that they pay for especially when most of them are at 40,000 now and vehicles are going up every year
I am over new vehicles.
Yeah, they want to make sure you spend your money in their repair departments.
Nissans, hyundai, kia, and Chrysler are horrible. Land rover, & jaguar (same company) are good up to 100k no more.
Sorry that happened to you.
Auto engineers in their teens never laid under a mustang or a Camaro, got grease under their nails on the weekend. Probably all woke.
I’ve got a 2009 Vibe GT. Burns some oil however runs great
I bought the 2020 Pacifica hybrid new. 0 issues. Almost 100k miles. After getting 8k off MSRP because they were desperate to sell, and all the tax credits I basically only paid 30k for a 50k vehicle. So far very happy
Rogue, qx50 Infiniti, bronco, Pacific hybrid Chrysler, Jeep 4xe, Wrangler, Chevrolet and GMC trucks, Silverado, Tahoe suburban Yukon.
Yep I not sure who thought 1.5 turbos were the way to go....I was just in the market for a small suv, and they all have this 1.5 turbo lil engine. I did not get one just based off of the problems I see with it.
My 2017 Rogue has 205k on it and no issues. I pickup my 2024 Rogue Saturday. Cant wait.
My son bought a 2016 GMC truck in 2016. It has never given big problems like your talking about. He still has for 8 yrs really good condition and never had a big problem your talking about. Sure it’s has tune up minor fixing here and there but never paid a lot of money. It has over 2,000 k but still in good condition
I learned the hard way with the money pit unreliable nightmare with 2 BMW’s. . Sometimes you just have live the experience
Can you provide manufacturing years for these makes/models. That would be super helpful. And, I apologize if I just point blank missed that info.
Is a mechanic I'm driving 1996 dodge caravan with 250,000 miles with the original engine and transmission, I've been replaced few things like alternator, radiator, tiers and so on timing belt, and definitely change the oil at 3,000 mi or less and the van runs like new still! I can trust my van 100 * more than technology cars we have today, are nothing but pain in the butt, also have 02 Tahoe 200+ and still runs like new.forget u new cars.
Ive driven mostly chrysler and dodge cars most of my 71 years and have never been let down the few fords and chevys ive own were dissapointments and never went back
My daughter has a QashQui and all these videos and reputations about CVT’s are keeping me up at night. It’s interesting the amount of Rogue’s in my city, they sell like hot cakes. Rogues, trucks that cost as much as two Rogues, Civic’s and Tesla’s are rampant. BUT, if there are three cars, one of them will be a Subaru Crosstek. It’s amazing.
1995 Toyota Avalon over 361,000 miles and still going. Replaced front cv axels and a starter and a battery never left me stranded not once
The biggest problem with budget vehicles are the budget owners. They don’t care about maintenance and drive their vehicles like race cars.
Great point. MAINTENANCE!!!!!!
yeah that's true and without proper maintenance
Malibu, 2012, nearly 200,000, no major issues. I have owned three malibus in different years. All have been no problems!
Hi I have a 2023 Rogue which I bought new two years ago and Ive had no issues with 24000 miles, I like the car
You're only at 24,000 miles. Of course you haven't had any issues yet. 😂😂
I still drive my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix with 130,000 miles purrs like a kitten!
I bought a used. 2006 Gran Prix and no major repairs needed
