I work in the service repair and parts industry. From what I’ve seen, manufacturers brakes are not lasting very long because they’re trying to save weight to help with fuel economy, so the rotors are very thin and cheap. Once I replace them with aftermarket pads and rotors, they seem to last 2-3 times longer. I have to explain this to customers all the time that have 1 or 2 year old vehicles that already need brakes.

My Dodge Caliber with Jatco CVT has 240 000 km and runs like new. Did 4 regular oil changes and 1 full flush. I know belt will fail at some point, that is expected for part that relies on friction. But I don't think CVTs are that scarry if properly maintained.
The company I used to work for had 2 2020 nissan altima S that they got brand new, I had one and another guy had the other one. We both put over 200k miles on them in 3 years time.. other than regular maintenance neither of us had a single issue. Only reason for getting rid of them is that they were leased from enterprise, and the lease was up.
My 1973 Audi 100 LS was rated by Consumer Reports as one of the 10 worst cars. It was replaced with the 1975 Audi 100 LS after they added fuel injection. Not much has changed in 50 years...
You need to do a video on Toyota! They are not doing the best either. Look at the 8-speed transmissions that are going out anywhere from 45,000 miles to 100,000 miles. Even if you do the fluid changes they are still failing early. There is a wait list for people that need a new transmission right now. Also, those panoramic sunroofs leaking down the inside pillars. Drain holes getting plugged left and right. The smaller engines in the Tundra and Tacoma's with issues also. I had a 2019 Camry with the 8-speed transmission, and I hated it! It was slow to shift to the next gear. If you need to floor it due to getting onto the highway it would bog down. This Camry also only had 25,000 miles on it! I did not know how crappy it was till I bought a very high mile 2007 Camry that is way more amazing. So off that 2019 went to a new owner that did not care about that issue.
Both my recent Jettas (2019/2020) have been fantastic and very reliable. The 1.4 is a great engine - powerful, fun to drive and reliable - not to mention good on fuel. We love them.

The Hemi have this problem but not near as much. the rockers stop rolling and eat off the cam lobes the metal shavings destroy the engine. #2 nissan CVT . they are junk. other than a fluid change there's no way to fix them . Noone rebuilds them all the used ones are junk . got to hope the warranty covers it and the shop can get one from the factory. the repair can be more than the cars worth. Better have every single service recept. #3 ford ecoboost , blown head gasket there is no why, some last 150k some 15k it just happens crap design #4 anything with a "wet" timing belt. belt strips and or pieces of the belt starve the engine for oil and it blows , maintenance seems to be irrelevant it just happens #5 any turbo BMW . they advertise 10k oil changes but they can drink up to a quart every 750 miles and the dealer will consider it normal. they hold around 6 quarts do that math. The warranty gets out of paying you for blowing the engine because of tiny print in the owner's manual says check oil every stop for gas. #6 kia and Hyundai. drink oil like a BMW people run them low on oil and the engine just falls apart. there were others but 80% of my work was just those things.
I had head gasket trouble on a 2012 VW CC that killed the engine at only 150k km. It was a disgrace to learn it was a common issue with all the VW and audi 2.0t engines. I loved that car, but what a waste of money.
I was going to buy a new vehicle for a niece about 2 years ago. After talking to her for several days, she said she wanted a Range Rover. I told her to stay away from them. NEW reliable engines have been announced recently, that will be available in most cars, trucks, and SUV's! You'll either get a HAMSTER or a SQUIRREL under the hood, with a technologically advanced RWT (Running Wheel Transmission)!
A video popped-up in the side-bar next to this excellent video about a cutting edge vehicle recycling facility, and most of the vehicles shown going through the facility were less than 5 years old. What do customers do when they are left stranded with no way to repair a vehicle, and are looking at making payments for years on a $40,000 to $70,000 vehicle that's basically scrap?
I would stay away from the Rams myself. The rear windows are garbage because the frames are plastic they leak. The tailgate seldom shut unless you slam them twice. On mine, I had a transfer case leak where the seal went bad and the fix was to replace the transfer case. I got rid of the truck the very next week.
VW should bring back the reliable, venerable, legendary 24 valve VR6 (2nd generation)! I've had my manual 2003 GTI VR6 for 22 years now, with the original chains, and it's still going strong as my daily driver! 22 YEARS, with NO major issues! The only problem years ago, was a cooling fan which failed after 17 years! Incredible! I just change the oil every 6,000 miles or so (Liqui-Moly full synthetic), and this German Panzer Tank keeps on serving me well, and putting a smile on my face after all these years! I could probably get another 10 years or more out of this car! These solid, old school naturally aspirated engines are disappearing, and that is a crying shame! These days, they cheapen everything, and strap turbos on increasingly smaller and smaller engines! Pretty soon we'll have 2 cylinder engines and a Hamster under the hood of many cars!
I own a 2016 VW Golf TSI with over 200k , like the car , no issues at all with engine and transmission. On the other hand , I’ve had to deal with sunroof leaking water . VW is going to loose its loyal fans if they don’t address their quality control
Might as well just make a video about all 2025 cars being unreliable. Funny that there’s no Honda or Toyota mentioned since both manufacturers are now having quality control and engine issues. Many videos out there about Toyota and Honda having issues and recalls. In fact, Honda is under investigation for some of their models. My friend’s 2018 Honda Civic has had multiple issues with the AC system and the issue has been fixed twice already. She’s been waiting for a HPFP recall fix for over a year now. The dealer keeps telling her they’re waiting on the part. My brother and his wife are part of the recall on the steering worm gear spring on their 2024 Honda Civic. Quality has definitely gone down the drain.
it's a shame that none of these companies can build a reliable, inexpensive car. all this electronic junk makes it tough for a backyard mechanic to work on. or maybe that's the whole idea.once trusted names are now looked upon as junk.pity
I've noticed a trend in your vehicle analysis. It always ends with the suggestion to buy Honda, or Toyota. I can agree with this, and I work at Ford. I just bought my 1st foreign car. A 2012 Acura TL. And in the 2 years I've owned it I've been thinking of switching to this brand , as well as Honda, and Toyota, because Acura doesn't make trucks. It's just that damn impressive. .
Funny, most every weekend I drive past Toyota and Honda dealerships. There sure is a lot of 'Reliable' cars and trucks waiting by the shop bay doors. I'll keep my Jeep and Dodge Challengers.
The fact is MOST newrer vehicles are JUNK. I own a '99 F-150 286,000 miles, no issues, an '85 Trans Am 295,000 miles, no issues and a '66 EK-E 312,000 miles with only minor issues. Looks like I'll be driving my oldies for foreseeable future.

I bought a new Chevy Malibu back in 2004. After a couple of years there was a ticking noise on the driver's side. It took about 8 hours for the Chevy Mechanic to find out what was causing this problem. It was a negative connection to the body. The screw through the eye hole of the negative wire was loose. I was lucky that the spark didn't cause a fire.
Ram no longer offering a V8. Most trucks companies going this route. Nothing wrong with straight sixes, but forget turbos, make them naturally aspirated. I would sacrifice a little horsepower for reliability. Stellantis is on borrowed time. They have trashed Chrysler, once a brand know for great engineering. I predict it will not survive unless someone else buys it.
Because there are way too many vehicles with terrible transmissions to choose from! LOL Give Ram credit where credit is due to the are going all ZF and putting and end to the suffering on their trucks in regards to transmissions.
My 2 cars are nothing to speak of but they're free and easy to maintain. 06 CVPI w 264k miles and Accord EX. But run great and I can do some of the wrenching so I'm standing pat.
Generally speaking as an engineer…it’s tough when car companies are now split between ICE, hybrid and Electric production. When seemingly every car manufacturer now has multiple $100k plus models with all the new technologies that go into them. Throw in emission standards and engineering is getting stretched pretty thin and isn’t being challenged by quality to do better.

The person who was crushed to death by his Jeep was the actor Anton Yelchin, who played Chekhov in the new Star Trek movies and Reese in the new Terminator movies. He was just 27.
Your reviews are excellent Some of these like the Bronco and the Ram would be such nice vehicles if they didn't have such crappy engines. The jeep and VW are nice too. Why do they all keep doing such bad things? It makes no sense!! And the Range Rover is beautiful but absolute trash! It's all insane!
Leadership matters. It's important for families, businesses, cities, states, and countries. Incompetence at the top percolates down all the way to the bottom of society, and businesses. People are hard-wired to follow leaders, subconsciously, even when they don't want to. Everything is has been going to Hell because we have had no leadership at the top. Here in the US, we've been distracted by every sort of bull****. We've had a president and vise president who clearly have been incapable of performing their jobs, and have set a disastrous example for not only America, but for the whole world. And from what I've seen, many of the other developed countries' governments are similarly dysfunctional and experiencing the same chaos. Instead of focusing on competence, results, and accountability, we've been distracted by DEI, transgenderism, race politics, and every other kind of divisive victimhood-inducing agenda possible. And now that the economy is wrecked, and everyone is stressed out, we wonder why no one can design and build a car anymore, or why Boeing and the commercial airlines have apparently lost the ability to produce and service a jet. We have door panels blowing out, and wheels falling of of them, like some sort of clamped out Yugo. Until governments are cleaned up, and no longer forcing auto manufacturers into producing bloated vehicles powered by tiny overstressed engines, and into prematurely pouring billions upon billions of dollars into EV's that people don't want, and cannot be repaired, things will continue to go downhill. It's time to hold politicians and manufacturers accountable by giving all the failures the boot. No more of our hard earned money and political support. Let the failures crash and burn, and serve as an example to the rest.

You forgot the first one, the Jetta!
The panoramic roof is one of the dumbest features gaining popularity. Compared to sheet metal that glass roof is heavy, expensive and fragile.
Nope 1 of the best features ever made n I haven't bought a car without a Panoramic roof since 2011
And worse sound dampening.
In hot country we avoid it in all cost. People buy lower trim just not to get sunroof.
@@GF-mf7ml I'm in Arizona USA so I'm sure that is part of my hattredof glass roofs. Not to mention I rarely need to look up while driving.
Love mine. Haters gon hate!
CVT means continuously, variable, tragedy, brought to you byyyyyyy JATCO!
They replace transmission like sparkplug.
My Dodge Caliber with Jatco CVT has 240 000 km and runs like new. Did 4 regular oil changes and 1 full flush. I know belt will fail at some point, that is expected for part that relies on friction. But I don't think CVTs are that scarry if properly maintained.
Great acronym !
My option for 2025... Fix up my Ranger pick up.. The new stuff is complex junk
So true about Audi, my wife's 2015 Q5, burns a quart of oil literally every 1000 miles and yet my Mercedes Benz c300 2008, has never burned any oil!
My 1973 Audi 100 LS was rated by Consumer Reports as one of the 10 worst cars. It was replaced with the 1975 Audi 100 LS after they added fuel injection. Not much has changed in 50 years...
I’m glad to see cars without sunroofs. They’re nothing but trouble
All my present and previous cars have had sunroofs - all have been flawless with proper maintenance - wouldn't own a car with out one.
He is too biased to report on TOYOTAS failures
@@77racing71 Exactly - Toyotas are crap to drive and not any more reliable than anything else today.
I have a 2021 Jetta that has had zero issues. It's got the 1.4 turbo engine. I have heard about 1.5's, 2022 on, having issues.
So you got the one that is a runner. I thought there probably was one, just didn’t know who had it. I hope your luck continues.
Both my recent Jettas (2019/2020) have been fantastic and very reliable. The 1.4 is a great engine - powerful, fun to drive and reliable - not to mention good on fuel. We love them.
I have a 2022 Jetta Sport 1.5 with just over 25k miles. So far no issues. Fingers crossed!
Same 2022 VW GLI Jetta 40,000 no issues, my daughter has A VW atlas 170,000 no issues
I had a Range Rover 2002 it was the worst car ever ! Everything literally was replaced except the paint and the seats. Then I got a Subaru Outback 2003 still have it has275k miles on it . Everyday driver and stored away a 458 2011 Ferrari in white a keeper.
Love the quality of my new Subaru crosstrek . Gave my 2012 Honda civic to my daughter with 175 thousand miles on it. I sleep comfortably knowing she won’t be walking unlike driving a Chevy.
I was a extended warranty investigator. basically when people buy an extended warranty i would come out and look to see if the damage is legit or abuse Ill tell u what vehicles are garbage
ABSOLUTE BY FAR #1 anything with the 3.6 by Jeep/dodge/Chrysler I did inspections for every make and model car but i seen several of these per day sometimes that's all in the day all day.
#3 ford ecoboost , blown head gasket there is no why, some last 150k some 15k it just happens crap design
#4 anything with a "wet" timing belt. belt strips and or pieces of the belt starve the engine for oil and it blows , maintenance seems to be irrelevant it just happens
#5 any turbo BMW . they advertise 10k oil changes but they can drink up to a quart every 750 miles and the dealer will consider it normal. they hold around 6 quarts do that math.
Sorry to hear about that. Yrs too many issues in those engines and the worst part is, they keep using those drivetrains in almost everything
Do the story on Honda and Acura, major recalls on both for engine and transmission failure, trade-in value has plummeted and resales have dropped!
I was going to buy a new vehicle for a niece about 2 years ago. After talking to her for several days, she said she wanted a Range Rover. I told her to stay away from them. She asked "why, they're cool?" I told her that when her fellow workers saw her coming in, they'd say "Here comes Jennifer in her maintenance nightmare." She understood that, thank god.
Just for the record, the 1.5 3 cylinder eco boost does not have any internal wet belts. It has an actual timing chain.
Imagine a car salesman having to deal with this guy when he goes to buy a car! 😂😂😂😂 Excellent video. Thank you
Haha yes I often talk to sales people and it’s interesting to find out how little many of them know about the product
NEW reliable engines have been announced recently, that will be available in most cars, trucks, and SUV's! You'll either get a HAMSTER or a SQUIRREL under the hood, with a technologically advanced RWT (Running Wheel Transmission)!
Squirrel running wild trans,SRWT transmissiom.better baby it!
Thanks for another great cautionary video. Wow, I am so grateful for my older vehicles and a good mechanic.
Glad you enjoyed it. Yes some of the older vehicles are easier to work on and often more reliable
Who buys Range Rovers nowadays?
They've been known to be garbage for a long time now.
Nissan, something’s missin’. Sneaky Crap car, CVT, rubber band trans that can NOT be fixed.
You have to have a lot more money than brain to buy Ranger Rover.
Yes they belong in these lists too
I have Toyota 4runner 2001 , 625.000 ml .still running .
driving my 2015 Nissan Altima SL at 400k KMS without any issues, CVT isnt meant for rough driving.
That’s 2015. Hrs taking about 2024 and 2025
I’m still driving my Daimler built Ram. Been a good truck for 21 years!
Yes I have a 2003 and while it’s not perfect it’s still doing well
I would stay away from the Rams myself. The rear windows are garbage because the frames are plastic they leak. The tailgate seldom shut unless you slam them twice. On mine, I had a transfer case leak where the seal went bad and the fix was to replace the transfer case. I got rid of the truck the very next week.
Non of these crap vehicles should cost over $20k
Over 100 years of building cars and they have figured out how to make junk. Evolution
Audi fixed the issue with burning oil on the 2.0L engine back in 2018-2019. Lawsuit and extended warranties was for earlier years.
The old 1.8T was great too.
Thank you! This is a valuable service to save people's money
Thanks 👍 for the research
We all getting ripped off these days
GOOD JOB BROTHER,,,,keep up the info we ALL NEED
Thanks, will do!
I own a 2016 VW Golf TSI with over 200k , like the car , no issues at all with engine and transmission. On the other hand , I’ve had to deal with sunroof leaking water . VW is going to loose its loyal fans if they don’t address their quality control
Enshittification intensifies.
It's not even ok for phones to be disposable, much less cars.
Yes cars are far too expensive to just throw them away
Bronco car owner “where do we begin with the car issues with this car?”
It's just that damn impressive. .
Yes and Mazda is another great add for reliability
The original Broncos from 1966-96 were FAR better than today's Broncos.
Funny, most every weekend I drive past Toyota and Honda dealerships. There sure is a lot of 'Reliable' cars and trucks waiting by the shop bay doors. I'll keep my Jeep and Dodge Challengers.
Jeeps is complete junk.
Basically, new cars need warranty. Only buy used cars from 90s
Yes 6 year 100k is a must
when they flipped over from carb to injection the cars were simple and very reliable from the late 90's to early 2000's, i have a 2007 !!!
@@redfred452 Love my 2006 Camry with 300,275 miles!
2006 and older. Unfortunately cars don't last that long in the rust states.
We have a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. It is an excellent car. V8 hemi 375 hp.
funny fact: I nearly traded my Jetta for Bronco Sport; Glad I waited to see your reviews first! Jetta is still well within warranty.
he steered you wrong....
Don't buy any new car anymore, buy a used one.
You do save buying from new. But I think if you buy new, get the ones that have good reviews with minimal changes from year to year.
@@JamesKeturakis I am thinking I should buy something three years old with good reviews the next time. I will keep my 2023 Ford Edge for an extra three years if it proves to be a trouble-free car and not buy new anymore.
@@JamesKeturakis Toyota is your best bet . Get an ICE / automatic transmission car though .. dont go with their new eCVT things .. their eCVTs are reliable according to the source but i would stay away from it.
Either buy a pre-92 Mercedes or a Mazda
I will only buy new and only keep till factory warranty runs out. At least I can budget easier
Is mazda the best right now?
My 2015 Mazda6 is awesome. No problems. Knock on wood.
You telling that Bronco has the same engine displacement as a Prius?
TF did Ford do to the Bronco?
Ram no longer offering a V8. Most trucks companies going this route. Nothing wrong with straight sixes, but forget turbos, make them naturally aspirated. I would sacrifice a little horsepower for reliability. Stellantis is on borrowed time. They have trashed Chrysler, once a brand know for great engineering. I predict it will not survive unless someone else buys it.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe transmission is a massive failure. How come it is not in this list?
It is a tough time indeed
After experiencing the thrill of driving a German car, I realized I could never go back to Japanese or American cars. Life is simply too short to drive anything less exciting!
Yes I agree the European cars do drive a lot better
Same, got a lightly used 2023 VW Arteon and tuned it, haven't enjoyed driving anywhere near this much since my very first car (2000 Mustang GT).
Great. Buy two. After 2 years one will always be in the shop.
I always enjoy my sporty ride back to the dealership for repairs.
@@gracelandone I own a 2023 Audi A4 and a 2018 Mercedes GLE 400, and both have been flawless compared to my previous Lexus RX and Ford Explorer.
The driving experience in these German-engineered vehicles is on another level-whether it’s taking high-speed turns with the car firmly planted on the road or enjoying the precision handling and stability that inspire confidence at every turn.
These vehicles exemplify the reliability and refinement I was looking for and it is what sets German engineering apart.
But hey, what’s your experience been with German cars? Which ones have you driven that could compare to this level of engineering?
Engineered and built to fail that's the mindset of the manufacturer
Honda is the worst! I would never own another one. Won’t even consider it.
They finally discontinued the Escape which is one of their worst vehicles ever made! This was the worst vehicle I've ever drove and owned. Had to junk it because the turbo died after already being replace once!!
They are portly made vehicles, that’s very clear to me
Never I would buy German Money Pits...I have 2021 Lexus NX 300 F Sport Fully Loaded and cannot be more happy with the Vehicle and super reliable and efficient! Regarding turbo hey if you do regular oil changes and maintenance you're set! Another Note my wife have 2015 Lexus Nx200 T car is perfect and almost 10 yrs old with Turbo still strong and efficient..
Also to mention I will only buy Japan Made Lexus period!!!
Great Review

Don't like the Asian brands - so ugly and underperforming. Won't look at or buy an Asian product - way overrated.
I owned a 1971 Audi and it was in the garage getting fixed more often than I care to remember. That was the end of German and European cars for me.
My next door neighbor bought a beautiful full-sized Ford Bronco two months ago and has already traded it for an Audi EV because it had been in the shop three times.
He will be in the shop even morenow
UAW does not create jobs. Labor cost pricing the cars and trucks beyond middle-class budgets.
It's the same with teachers and public education and police and policing they are just there to drain money away... at least you have a choice in whether you give your money away buying some garbage American vehicle
Yep ! Almost $40 an hour for workers who are literally illiterate ! I kid you not !
Corporate greed is the problem with America.
My 2023 ford bronco sport had to have a torque converter. 49k and had it for 55 days. Also rear brake issues since new. Had to have rear roaters and pads at 49k.
Love my 2018 Charger Scat Pack and 2022 Durango RT. No mechanical issues, just great sound!
I hate my wife’s Buick encore, eco boost engine with turbo is a nightmare, bane of my existence.
1.4 liter?....what's it doing?
Broncos are Fords new Pinto
Another informative video, Trax should be on the list, although many models have questionable reliability, you highlighted the worst. 2.0 eco boost in Ford Models isn't that great like you mentioned, but 1.5 is awful
The person who was crushed to death by his Jeep was the actor Anton Yelchin, who played Chekhov in the new Star Trek movies and Reese in the new Terminator movies. He was just 27.
Bronco sport is the best i love plastic cladding incase i hit something easy to replace
Thanks for this video! Very well-
done and informative!!
Ford's small engines (under 2L) have had so many issues, I wouldn't buy one.
Indeed they are junk in my opinion
That guy who was killed by his Jeep, was it the actor who played 'Chekov' on the new version of 'StarTrek', ?
ANTON YELCHIN
Your reviews are excellent Some of these like the Bronco and the Ram would be such nice vehicles if they didn't have such crappy engines. The jeep and VW are nice too. Why do they all keep doing such bad things? It makes no sense!! And the Range Rover is beautiful but absolute trash! It's all insane!
The person who was killed by his Jeep was Anton Yelchin the actor who portrayed the character Checkov in the newer Star Trek movies.
He also played Kyle Reese in the terminator movie with Christian Bale played John Connor.
@@javier7717 Yep.
Can’t start a “worst cars, trucks, and suvs” video without Land Rover vehicles in the opening shot. 😂😂😂
